CR2 not reading in Lightroom even with Update

I haven't ever had issues with compatibility with .CR2's before, but now Lightroom is giving me the "unavailable for preview". I've updated the Camera Raw plug-in from Adobe twice. Optimized my catalog. Restarted twice. Tried importing as a DNG. and I'm getting nothing. I can see the actual image in the folder and I can open it in Preview (I am on a Mac) but I am getting a similar error when I open it in photoshop.
The files from my camera imported just fine, but it was from my second shooter. It was a Canon 40D. I've searched everything on the internet and nothing is working. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for your help! I super super appreciate it.

The Camera Raw Plugin does not affect Lightroom it is used by PS CS and Elements. If you are getting problems to import files into Lightroom do you get an error message, if so what does it say exactly.
What version of LR and Photoshop?

No need to worry about the disk version. You would just have to install an update anyway as soon as it was installed. Download from the link provided below and use the serial number you have to activate.

Ipod is not read by windows, and cannot update!!! please help...

I have a 30GB, 7500 song ipod Video, just bought last year. The issue all started a month or so ago. I use the "iPod dock connector to USB 2.0 cable" to connect the ipod to the computer. I have tried both USB ports that I have, and both do not work. The ipod is not read by the computer, therefore, the computer acts like there is no connection. Itunes as well, does not read the ipod. I cannot add new songs to the ipod, or even charge it. I have tried all the things the website has said (i.e. restart computer, reset ipod, reinstall itunes, download latest version of itunes). I just updated to itunes 7 today, and this problem has gone on for awhile, therefore it is not because of the itunes 7. Since I figure it is the dock connector I have put in a self service request.
Apparently this is a common problem...Anyone have any advice? I am desperate...Thanks in advance.

Not Able To Use Acrobat With Updates

When I slipstream all the quarterly updates through 9.5.5 into an original installation of Acrobat Pro 9 Extended which is version 9.0 the installer loads as version 9.5.5 and successfully installs Acrobat as a version 9.5.5 but when I open Acrobat and accept the license agreement I immediately receive a popup message that says the program is broke and cannot be used due to license discrepancies to reinstall it then when I click OK or terminate the process that generated the message Acrobat closes. If I install Acrobat as version 9.0 and manually apply the updates through 9.5.5 Acrobat works with no problems. Any assistance in helping me resolve the problem would be appreciated.
My reason for wanting to install version 9.0 as version 9.5.5 is I thought it might take up less space on my hard drive but it doesn't it still uses about 4.6GB of space which is significantly more than any other program on my computer. When I tried customizing the installation with the customization tool by selecting do not copy the installation files to the hard drive Acrobat still created over a gigabit of installer files in the installer folder in the Windows directory and created over a gigabit of update files in its folder under programs. Acrobat is quite a pig isn't it I am saddened to see that this is what hard drive space is being used for in world of larger hard drives. I would like to see programs like Acrobat function with 500 characters of code or less. That would be intuitive wouldn't it.

I have never heard of slipstreaming the updates with the original install, only with updates themselves. I suspect that may be related in some sense, but just a guess.

External Hard drive not reading after 10.3.9 update

Hi there and thank you for this forum. I am wondering if anyone can help me through this maze of confusion...I have just recently upgraded from 10.3.5 to 10.3.9 and now I cannot access my external Fantom Drive. Both of the USB ports can read other devices, and also I can still read the Fantom from a PC, but when I plug it into my ibook, I get nothing.
Can anyone recommend anything? Can I reinstall the original 10.3.5 software and be done with updates? The Fantom is not supposed to be affected by the 10.3.9 system, so I don't know what happened, but I can tell you that the only 2 times I have updated this mac, I have had serious problems! I won't be updating anymore!!!

Mac Mail do not read/show emails prior Lion update

I have faced the same problems as many others with Mac Mail (on my iMac), ie. could not launch Mail after update. Solved that problem with deleting some plist-files and everything looked good.
However, Mail can not read/show/find emails prior the update from yesterday. At the top of Mail screen it states I have 8919 emails in my inbox. In the left column (or second left after mailbox(es) column) can I see from whom emails was sent and headlines, but when I click on one of them (it doesn't matter which one prior the update) the message won't show up in bigger field to the right. It just says: Reading..., and the gray spinning icon (shown at start up) spins endlessly.
Emails I received after update yesterday show up as the should do. Very strange when my emails seem to be there according to figure (8919) at top, but Mail seem not be able to find them. Any solution to that and I would be highly greatful.

Firewire drives not recognized on iMac even with Apple cable adaptor

Got new iMac. All my files are on Firewire 800 external hard drives. iMac won't recognize Firewire drives even with Apple cable adaptor so cannot access old files.

I suspect a power issue, are these drives Bus powered or do they have AC power?

Siri still not working in canada even with ios 5.1

It appears that Siri still does not give directions etc in canada even with the new 5.1 release. When can I expect the service to be working fully?
I paid a lot of money for this device to not function fully.

Hey I live in Canada and I bought a 4S directly from apple (mostly to get by the constraints of a contracted phone) and while I would love to see SIRI Localization support for Canada I understand what Beta means... Being an I.T. person
However what many of you don't realize when you chastize someone like this is... Sometimes we are lead down the garden path by mobile phone providers. We don't all buy our phones from the manufacturer and as such are sometimes told what we want to hear to get that sale.
I would expect SIRI likely to be out of beta when the iPhone 5 starts to ship however. Whenever that will be...

Flash updater keeps appearing even with updates disabled

We have a Remote Desktop Services environment and we've disabled the Flash Updater in the control panel. This is being done by a CPL (FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl) that we move at install time.
The box "Never check for updates' is selected.
We also deployed mms.cfg with the following contents:
AutoUpdateDisable=1
AutoUpdateInterval=0
However users still receive a Update notification. This started with Flash 15. How can we configure Flash that it actually honors the control panel settings?

We did have a bug where, on some systems, users continued to get the notification update even though Updates had been disabled. This bug has been fixed in a more recent version of Flash Player than what is currently installed on the system (15.0.0.189 as per your screenshot). 15.0.0.189 is quite old and we have released numerous security fixes since then. Please install the latest vesrion, 17.0.0.134. It not only has the fix for the behaviour you are observing, but it also contains the latest security fixes that 15.0.0.189 is vulnerable to.
Also, there is no need to 'move' the FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl from one system to another. All that is needed is to disable AutoUpdates via the mms.cfg file, which you indicate you are doing.

DVD drive will not read DVD with photos saved on it. Also will not run system discs. Gives mesage "please insert a disc into Drive D. It plays CDs fine so appears to be working.

PC will not read disc which came with N95 8GB Phon...

Upgraded to N95 8GB. So far so good, then !!!. Came back from hols to link with PC to find that the CD drive and DVD drive will not read the disc which came with the phone. PC will still read other discs but not the Nokia disc. What is the disc format and can I get what is on the disc elsewhere?

It's probably just a damaged disc. You can download the PC Suite software from www.nokia.com/pcsuite, as far as I know you can't get replacement CDs.

Firefox 3.6.18 keeps updating to 4.0.1 even with updates turned off

I have two people who are trying to use Firefox 3.6.18 to access webpages that aren't compatible with Firefox 4 or 5. This is from Mac OS 10.6.
We've turned off all the update features, but they still get updated to 4.0.1 (it's unclear when this seems to happen to them, but they haven't clicked anything to accept any upgrades).
I even tried to take away their write rights to the Firefox application, but it didn't work since the permissions inside the application package were still their defaults that give her write rights.
Instead of fusing with the rights on the application some more, I currently have one of them running Firefox from a disk image file which she has no write rights to. There should be no way she can get an update to that one, but it's a clumsy fix and not something I like to have as a solution.
First, WHY is Firefox updating to 4.0.1 in the first place? If this is an attempt to force people to upgrade, this is unacceptable.
Second, what could be causing this behavior and how can it be fixed?
After this latest update was forced on her, she loaded Google Chrome as a workaround. Needless to say, this isn't a good workaround you want users to use if you want Firefox to continue to be used.

Firefox when there is an update will tell you there is an update and ask you.
I have several versions of Firefox and a wagon load of profiles.
I was asked once on 3.6.18 to update to 4 or 5 and I said no, I was asked to update to 3.6.18 which is where you should be on 3.6.* and I accepted, and am not bothered nor has any update been forced yet from 3.6.* to 5.0. When 3.6 goes EOL (end of life), I will turn off the check for updates.
I am on Windows 7.
Maybe because you are 3.6.10, if you want to go to 3.6.18, I can provide directions, if you updates are stuck. Which they would be if you are at 3.6.10 that would be too much for the update to handle. If you want to update to 3.6.18 here are directions.

When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would).
Note: Firefox must be down once the install starts.
Close Firefox with File>Exit. Then make sure Firefox is not running --
On Windows: check the "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager.
