CR2008 Not enough memory while exporting reports from Crystal Reports 2008

I have recently upgraded our Crystal Reports version from Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 to Crystal Reports 2008. After upgradation I am facing the problem "Memory full.OtherErrorFailed to export the report. Not enough memory for operation" when I am trying to export the report from Crystal Reports 2008 Report viewer, or directly from the code behind. The application is hosted application. The problem occurs in our production environment.
Server details:
OS: Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition R2 with SP2
IIS: IIS 6
.Net Framework: 3.5
Application details:
Hosted application using Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3
Crystal Reports Viewer version: 12.0.2000.0
The data binding of the report object is done through an ADODB dataset.

string Filename = Path.Combine(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.InternetCache).ToString(), Guid.NewGuid().ToString() + ".pdf");
Report.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, Filename);
Clean Up Code: (Page_UnLoad event)
if (Report != null)
     Report.Close();
     Report.Dispose();
Creportviewer.ReportSource = null;
Creportviewer.Dispose();
dsReport = null;
GC.Collect();

Can someone help me resolve the issue.

The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
Regards,  Grant.

  • Not enough Memory to export?

    When doing a lot of work on an image using more than one too
    l ie adjustment brush, spot removal and then exporting as a jpeg, it doesnt always export due to 'not enough memory' but also if successfully exported, once opened in Adobe and changes made ie resized, it then cant be saved.
    Should LR2 be removed?
    Is using Adobe Photoshop 7 a possible issue?

    Hope you don't mind me piggy-backing on your message. I'm having a similar problem, since I upgraded from LR 2.7 to 3.  Using LR 3.0 (Camera RAW 6.1), I tried exporting a Canon 5d II RAW file to disk as a PSD file, to be opened by Photoshop (CS3) later.  This RAW had one adjustment brush adjustment.  When trying to export to disk, I get a "not enough memory" response. Restarting computer does not help. Exported this same RAW file about a month or so ago, using Lightroom 2.7; this export was successful (same computer, resources, etc.).   Looks like something may have happened to LR software between versions 2.7 and 3.
    Here are the specifics at the time of the export:
    - Image file: CR2 file, ~ 27 Mbyte + 14Kbyte sidecar
    - Dell T5400 PC with dual-core processors
    - OS:  Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3, build 2600
    - Physical memory available at the time of export attempt:  ~ 2.7 Gbytes out of a total of 4G.
    - Hard drive space:  223 GBytes out of a total of 1 Tbytes.
    - Virtual memry: ~ 2Gbytes
    Adobe:  Appreciate a fix soon. I do photography professionally, dealing with a lot of image files from any given job. This problem has become a big pain in the butt. Had to open up Photoshop CS3 and use its Camera RAW program to convert the CR2 files as a work around (of course, I'm not taking advantage of LR's adjustment brushes).

  • Not enough memory to export? CS4

    Hi all
    I wanted to export a 7 mg ai to a flattened, RGB 300 dpi .psd and got a 'not enough memory to save file' message. If this were an older machine or the .ai file was huge and the assigned scratch disk small I'd agree, but I'm thinking it must have something to do with a .tif file that was placed in the document.
    This is the second time I've ever placed art, so bear with any ignorance, please. The original .tif file is 2.5 mgs and then needed to be reduced considerably and to keep the file size down I chose to link it instead of embedding. Bad idea?
    Or is there something else that might cause this problem?  Thanks for any advice.
    EA

    First I will address the misconception of a 7MB being a small file when you want to export to say tiff or psd at only 300 ppi is actually at 8.5 x 11 inches is 64 MB 20x24 is 164 as 8 bit if it is being exported as cmyk add four layers and with content and it gets much larger. So 7MB is not an accurate way of describing what you are exporting better to give the dimensions and number of layers and complexity of the part does it have for instance paths with lots of points does it use a lot of symbols.
    Also do you have a scratch disk other than the startup disk, does it have a lot of free space, is it fragmented?
    What about your hardware, system and plug ins?

  • Not enough memory problem using Import from scanner

    I am using Photoshop CS4 Extended on a Windows XP Pro platform with 3.5 GB of memory. My scanner is an older Visoneer One Touch 8820 and has always worked well when using the File Import in PS. I now receive the message “Could not complete the import command because there is not enough memory (RAM)” when trying to import a scanned image. Under Preferences, Performance the Memory Usage shows 1689 MB of available RAM and Let Photoshop Use: is set to 1452 MB. The file I’m trying to scan is a grayscale business card and my One Touch interface shows the image size as 1.27 MB at 400 dpi. Any help is appreciated.
    TIA,
    Gregg

    hi mate,
    have you tried re-installing your current firmware? if you are still receiving errors, then you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support
    Only do this after you have checked that you have moved all possible files to a PC or external memory card on the device.

    Can anyone let me know where is the problem?

    Actually, the question boils down to; does the framework support the fonts?
    I believe that my question re. this working in the designer was valid. The designer does not use the framework, so if it works there, it is either a framework issue or a runtime print engine issue.
    I believe if you use the code below, it will list fonts available to the framework:
    foreach(FontFamily ff in FontFamily.Families)
    System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ff.Name);

  • How to link a webi report from crystal report

    Hello everyone,
                          I am trying to link a webi report from crystal XI.
    In my crosstab, the data is divided grouped by periods.
    So for every country it shows data along a period of time.
    The details for the value of the crosstab are in a webi report.I am trying to pass the period value and country name as a prompt from crystal to webi but it is not picking them correctly.
    can we pass prompts from a crystal report to a webi url??

    Try to use OpenDoc URL to pass the parameter values from crystal to webi. To use OpenDoc URL you need to publish these reports in server. See the following example
    http://server name:8080/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sType=wid&sPath=[folder name]&sDocName=Child&iDocID=4804&lsSEnter+State:=California

  • Upgrading a Report from Crystal Reports 10 to Crystal Reports 11

    Post Author: Chakradhar
    CA Forum: Upgrade to XI 3.0
    HI All,
    Please provide a solution for this..
    Is there any way to change the version of a report without redesigning the report?
    If we upgrade the report without redisign, dont we lose the special features of the new version.
    Actually i want to the change from Crystal Reports 10 to Crystal Reports 11.

    Hi Chakradhar,
    You can open an older version of the report in a new version of designer and just saving it again will automatically convert the version to the new version. To utilized new features you must modify the report and add the new features.
    Cheers,
    Muhammad

  • IPad saying not enough memory when syncing photos from iPhoto

    I have been trying to sync my iPad for the past two weeks.  It is an iPad with Retina Display, 3rd Gen, 64gb.  I finally gave up and just downloaded all of my apps and songs from icloud, but I want to be able to sync it to my computer.  It keeps telling me that the iPad does not contain enought memory.  I do not know how this is seeing as how it says that I have over 40 gb free.  Today I was able to get it to sync, and then I realized I did not have my photos from iPhoto checked.  I checked it to sync photos from iPhoto and only selected one album with 223 pictures in it.  When I did that, it gave me the message that I could not sync it because I did not have enough memory.  How could I not have enough memory when it says that I have 40gb of space free and I am only trying to sync 223 photos?  Please help.  I will try to update this post if anything improves.
    I have already restored the iPad once, and that clearly did not do anything.  haha.

    Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Error With Export/Print from Crystal Report Viewer

    Hello there,
    I've searched through the web and SAP discussion boards with not much luck with this issue.
    After working through this for some days now I've decided to look here for help.
    Environment:
    I have created a web Crystal Report viewer application(Developed with SBOP BI Platform 4.0 SP06 .NET SDK Runtime) that communicates with a managed Cyrstal Server 2011 SP4 (Product 14.0)
    I am able to connect and authenticate with the server, retrieve a token for communication and display reports in the Crystal report Viewer successfully.
    Problem:
    When I attempt to export, I receive the prompt to select format and pages.
    When I click export after selections most times I receive an error with the text
    Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.PropertyBag'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{74EEBC42-6C5D-11D3-9172-00902741EE7C}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
    Other times the page simply refreshes on export.
    When I click to print, no print dialog is displayed the page always refreshes and no error is displayed.
    No Print or Export document is ever created.
    As many print/export issues seems to be related, I'm guessing this two issues are as well.
    Notes:
    I am utilizing the ReportClientDocument model
    I am storing this in session to use as the crystal report viewer report source on postbacks
    I am assigning a subset of export formats to the crystal report viewer
    I am setting particular parameters as well on the report source
    At this point I would appreciate every assistance I may receive on this issue
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks Don for your response,
    I'm new to the SCN spaces and my content has been moved a couple of times already.
    In response to your questions
    The runtime is installed on the web application server, if by that you mean the machine hosting the created .NET SDK application.
    My question was whether it was also required on the Crystal Server 2011 (I.E. the main enterprise server with CMS and Report management and I guess RAS and all that). I figured this would remain untouched and queries would simply be made against it to retrieve/view reports e.t.c
    If install of the SDK on Crystal Server 2011 is indeed required should I expect any interruption to any of the core services after a restart. I.E. I'm hoping that none of the SDK objects would interfere with the existing server objects (in SAP Business Objects)Reason I ask is I note that much of the SDK install directories are similar to the existing Crystal Enterprise Server 2011 (Product 14.0.0)
    Is this temp folder to be manually created/configured or is it created by the application automatically to perform tasks. Or are you referring to the default C:\Windows\Temp directory and so saying that the application would try to use this for print and export tasks?Once I'm sure which I'd give the app pool user permission
    Printing is to be client side but I figured by default (with the Crystal Report Viewer) it would simply pool and print from the user's printer. This is how it works with the previously used URL reporting approach (viewrpt.cwr). Therefore a user can print the document from wherever they are with their own printer.We don't intend on printing from the server machine, but are you suggesting that a printer must be installed on server (which one web or enterprise server) for any client side printing to work.
    App pool is running in 32 bit mode
    Initially didn't get anything useful from fiddler but I'd try and look closer on your suggestion.
    It's also possible that some of my questions are a misunderstanding of APP vs RAS vs WEB, so please feel free to clarify. Currently I see the Web server as simply the created .NET SDK Application and RAS (Crystal Server 2011 e.t.c) as the existing fully established Application server which I simply pool for information.
    Thank you for your patience and advice,

  • How to recover the deleted reports from crystal reports XIR2

    Hi,
    There have been few crystal reports have been deleted from crystal environment and i would like to know how to recover them. please advice the best possible ways to recover them. CMS repositoty in SQL server database
    thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Hope, your question is this "How to recover the deleted Crystal reports in XI R2".
    Answer for this question is...
    Yes, it is possible if you have backup of your CMS and FRS.
    Copy the CMS database from the backup to your database server and point the CMS ODBC system DSN to it.
    Copy the backed up file store to a Temp directory.
    Change the path of input and output file repository servers in the CMC, for each server, to the Temp file store directory.
    You will now be able to find the reports. Copy those reports to the BO server's local disk, or create a BIAR file using the Import Wizard.
    Point the ODBC system DSN back to the original database and also change the paths on input file repository and output file repository servers back to their original locations.
    Publish the reports to Enterprise from the BusinessObjects server's local hard disk.

  • While opening specific Document "Not enough Memory" while rendering the Document with Large Image

    When Opening a PDF-File with a Large Image, the Adobe Reader and Acrobat will Crash while rendering with the Message Out of Memory.
    After some investigations this error is reproducable on Windows 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 Machines running on HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8.
    The Servers are updated with the latest Firmware from HP.
    This error does not occure on a Virtual Machine running Windows 2008 R2, so it seems like a Hardware dependent Bug.
    When disabling the Option Show large Images, the error will not Show up. But this is neither a solution nor a workarround, as we Need to Display all Information in the PDF.
    Thanks for any Help

    Hello SumitV
    Thanks for your answer.
    Indeed the Output File can be opened without any Errors. It's a good workarround, but it's not a solution.
    Why does it work (and much faster) on a Virtual Machine, but not on a very Powerful HP Machine?
    I hope Adobe will investigate in this case to solve it completely.
    We have a test machine where we could install some debug tools, are there any to get a deeper analysis of this problem?
    Thanks a lot.

  • "Not enough memory" when exporting DNG to PSD, noise opening it

    Hi guys, I'm using LR 4.2 and trying to export to PS CS6 on my Win 7 Asus 4gb laptop with 45gb free space on my hard drive.
    I have made substantial edits to a raw file in LR and am attempting to export it to PS for final edits (cloning out extraneous features) at 16cm and 150 ppi (less than ideal but still too large). The working file is 73 mb.
    However, I am getting an unsufficient memory error when trying this on Tif or Psd, even Jpg. I can get it to export as original, which gives me a DNG but then I get the same lack of memory issue when trying to open it in Photoshop.
    What I can do is open the working DNG file in Photoshop but then only some of my adjustments come through - all the noise removal I have done has gone and the image is very noisy in PS. I can also convert it to Tiff using VSO Image Resizer and open this in PS but again, the noise is there.
    The image is to be used as the cover photo on an A4 magazine so needs to be of print-quality.
    I'd be grateful if anyone could give me some advice on how to deal with this problem image.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jo

    Your memory issue isn't addressed here but try this to see if you can get a usable file before your deadline:
    Hit CTRL S to make certain your metadata is saved (although it shouldn't matter). Then don't export as Original but rather export as DNG from Lightroom.
    Does the image import properly now to PS?
    On a side note: regardless of the flie format PSD, TIF, JPEG, the image takes up roughly the same amount of RAM when open in PS.

  • 'Not enough Memory' to export file to Photoshop

    I have a 1.2 MB file done in Illustrator that I can't export to Photoshop. I used a distort filter on the solid background and there are tons of points. Also, the file is 26" by 14". Other than that layer, it's not complex. I have 8GB ram and am using a Mac Pro 2x 3.2GHz. Should this be a problem? Even if I take out the complex layer and delete it, it still won't save.

    What resolution are you exporting to? 26˝ × 14˝ at 300 ppi is a pretty big file. 131,040,000 bytes for a one-layer CMYK file. More layers means multiplying that size.
    If all else fails, you can copy/paste the Illustrator file into Photoshop as a smart object or just open the Illustrator file in Photoshop. If you need to retain layers, then use the Smart Object option and hide or delete layers as needed for each of several copy/paste repetitions. I suggest adding a surrounding object on a new layer below all other layers for registration.
    For a four-layer file, add a fifth layer (we’ll call it “Layer 5”) at the bottom and draw a white rectangle the size of the artboard. Hide all but Layer 4 and Layer 5, select all, Copy, switch to Photoshop, Paste as Smart Object. Back in Illustrator, hide Layer 4, show Layer 3, Select All, etc. Repeat until all is copied over. In Photoshop, all the layers should be aligned, since they are all the same size. You can double-click on the disk icon in the Layers panel to edit each Smart Object in Illustrator and delete or hide Layer 5. Back in Photoshop rasterize all layers.
