The standard 1-year Apple Care warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage due to accidents.
Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)
iPad model
Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
iPad mini
$219
iPad 3rd, 4th generation
$299
iPad 2, iPad
$249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • Cracked screen - incomplete synch - need to do num...

Hi, I am trying to do a back-up of my cell, a 6730, which fell, got hit by a car and has a totally cracked screen. The cell makes/receives calls but can no longer be used.
I have connected the phone to the pc via the usb cable and managed to copy photos and videos.
I have installed Ovi Suite but except for maybe at the first attempt (I may have hitten the wrong key), Ovi Suite does not "see" the device (but my pc does). I have tried to manage the phone via Ovi Suite and already sent myself a few messages. I think I managed to open them, enter the pin code and save without seeing the screen. Ovi now tells me I am halfawy done (it shows 1 of 2), it says set up partially completed and that in order to complete it I should synchronize the phone now by selecting synch in the menu, but I cannot see that.
Can anyone help with this. I am currently looking to retrieve my phone contacts and calendar.
I plan to copy everything on my old N73 until I will decide what to buy next.
Thanks to those who will help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi everybody. I seem to have found a solution (at 5 am...).
I first found out that if I didn't truly close Ovi and it stayed active in the lower right corner bar, I did not have a new chance that it would see my cell. I restarted it and for a moment it saw it alright but then it went again and saw no devices.
So.. I tried installing PC Suite, which I knew from before. It saw my cell but it said it was connected under a non-compatible connection (I was not able to find out what it meant) and that my modem was not functioning properly and probably also my USB connection. So I tried an Internet connection and don't even know how now, if whether through the USB or Internet, I was able to download some more recent sofware and after that I was finally able to do a back-up, except with PC Suite, not Ovi. I can understand it better, it provides more indications so you know what to try next.

  • Screen went gray need to be fixed under international warranty?!

    Hello,
I just bought Macbook Pro 13.3 inch, md 101 i believe is the 2010 model from Dubai last month. I bought it in Computer Plaza which is the place most people in Dubai go for a good deals.
After using 1.5 month the screen went blank, after power up it shows apple logo and then screen turns to gray, i can see and move the mouse cursor, the keyboard lights are on. I tried many tricks like safe mode start up and some sort of resets that i read on macbook threads, nothing has worked. So, I beleive according to some owner the problem is either on logic board or Nvidia. To get it fixed or replaced I have to go Authorised Repair Shop, but there is no one in my city (Dushanbe, Tajikistan). Planning to fly to Dubai in couple days, so please advise where should i take it? Since it was bought without local/Dubai warranty, only International warranty exists. Can it be still fixed under international warranty in Dubai? if yes, where?
Apperantly, when you buy apple products in Dubai, they ask you if you want local warranty or not, if you say you dont need local just international they reduce the price.
Please advise, macbook owners from Dubai or anybody that has solution.
    Any advise is appreciated.
    Max

    Problem solved by simply
-restarting in Safe Mode- power up holding shift key
-when the screen turns to gray and you see the mouse curson tyepe the first letter of your username hit enter
-then type your password, hit enter
-you will see beach ball cirlcling after that installation starts and all back to normal.
Apparantly, i did not go ahead with needed update and close the lid when the update was going after that i could not get my screen to turn on. Thanks to Apple Support Community the problem is solved. I wish I could tag that person's thread but i dont have to do it.
    Thanks All!

  • Cracked screen on ipad2

My dog stepped on my ipad2 and cracked the screen. It is working fine. The white part of the frame is broken also. Does the white part being broken make the damage worse as far as repairing?

    It really makes no difference.
your main options are to get an out of warranty replacement from Apple. The fee for an iPad 2 starts at 249 and goes up depending on themodel.
Or you can use an unauthorized service, but if you have any factory warranty left, using the nonauthorized repair will void that.
So a more expensive sure bet or a cheaper gamble....or, depending on the age of your device, consider putting the money towards a new one. (my iPad is 2.5 years old so if I were to break the screen I'd just trash it and put the money towards something newer)

  • Push Gmail... this needs to get fixed

I don;t know why they support yahoo and other services but they really need to add push for Gmail. Ive talked to both companies and it seems like its on apple's end that the problem is.... fix it! The apple guy on the support line even said he thinks they should fix it! It doesnt seem like it would be that big if a problem to correct.

    You're welcome.
Since the iPhone supports push access with other email accounts that provide and support push access - with a Yahoo account, an Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync, and with a MobileMe account, this is up to Google and Google only to provide/support Push access with the iPhone's mail client.
To each his/her own, but I don't use Push access with my MM account. There isn't any email that I receive which is so important that it can't wait until my automatic check for new mail every 30 minutes, and I can always manually check for any new messages in between the automatic check by selecting the account's Inbox mailbox.

  • Vertical colors 'take over' screen--system freezes--need to reboot--fix?

always had trouble with the screen going black and having to re-possition it.now these muti-colors appear ...logic board?
    thanks

Yes, it sounds like you may be having logic board problems. You may know that enough dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from this problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar, give Apple a call. If your iBook qualifies, it's a free fix.
If you are past the three-year time limit, try calling and asking for Customer Relations (NOT Customer Service--they can't help you) and ask them to please make an exception to the three-year limit in your case.
    Good luck.

  • My ipod 4 will not turn on after i changed my cracked screen what,do i do to fix it

I cracked my ipod 4 gen and I replaced the screen myself I followed the instructions right that people gave me and now my ipod won't turn on I charged it and still it won't work what can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem. Take it apart and verify that you reassembled it correctly. Next take it to someone with more experience.

  • "Waiting for Changes" NEEDS TO GET FIXED

How is it that Apple can't send out a fix for the "waiting for changes to be applied" error when syncing an iPhone using iTunes? There are a ton of threads on this topic. FIX IT!
While you're at it, fix the "other" data problem. I can't get rid of it unless I restore from backup (which takes a long time) and it happens to me far too often (like every time I sync my phone.
These are known problems and should have a real solution other than "restore from backup."
    That is all.

Both of your issues are going to be related to a corrupt file or files that you are syncing.

  • IWeb Difficulties that basically need to get fixed.

First of all I'd reallt have to say that iWeb is amazing but yet amizing stuff have their weaknesses. There are three major weaknesses on iWeb, 1. Flash embedding, I'd like to be able to add flash content by only drag and drop, 2. Control my hyperlinks, I'd like to be able to choose weither I'd like to open a link in a frame on a page or in a PopUp window, 3. I'd like to be able to open pages in a popup window by being able to cutomize the window as well.
If Apple can fix this problem it would be very helpfull and it would make iWeb the ever best software for creating webpages.

Welcome to the discussions. You are talking with fellow iWeb users like yourself here - not Apple. If you would like to send feedback to Apple, you can use this form:

  • My ipod touch has a cracked screen. It is $99 to fix. Will Apple have a black Friday sale for this?

    Please Help!

I doubt it but only Apple know and they have not said.
    The $99 is for the 8, 16 and 32 GB 4G and 16 GB 5G.
It may also apple to earlier model iPods too.

  • Are there any Apple stores in the Pensacola, FL are? I have a cracked screen and wanted to get it fixed or replaced.

Need to find an apple store in Pensacola area if there even is one. Have a cracked iPhone 4 screen and was wanting to get fixed or replaced.
    Thanks!

Genius Bar, includes a list of all the Genius Bar in Florida. ( grey box right side of page ) This page will also let you book an appointment for the Genius Bar; that way you can wal into the store at the time of your appoinment and get help right away.
Apple Retail Store, include the option to find store by zipcode. This would show you see the closest store on a map. If you click on one of the stores listed, then click on hours and information, you should end up on the Apple Web Page for that store. If the store include a genius bar, there will be a link on the top right corner of the page to book an appointment for the Genius Bar.
Service and Repair, should give you access to all your servicing options. If there is no a Genius Bar close by, you might be able to arrange for mail in repair.
What ever service options you chose, I would highly suggest backing up your iPad. Ether using a computer, and or by iCloud. Some times repairing a product means they have to swap out the product for a replacement.

  • Cracked my  iphone screen canada cost to get fixed?

my screen is cracked how much does it to get fixed at the apple store? here in canada?

    Approximately $149

  • TS2634 My Ipod Touch has a cracked screen at the top. The unlock slider does not work. I have loaded the latest software onto the Ipod and iTunes but still the slider will not operate. Is the cracked screen the problem?

My IPod Touch has a small crack at the top of the screen and now the slider will not work to unlock it. Is the cracked screen the problem?

To get pass the passcode lockscreen, recovery mode and restoring should help: iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

  • The screen on my iPod has cracked / shattered.  Is this something that can this be fixed or do I need to get a new iPod?

The screen on my iPod has cracked / shattered.  Is this something that can this be fixed or do I need to get a new iPod?  Everthing still works just the glass is shattered at the bottom and cracks are running up through the screen.

It can be fixed by Apple, some authorized Apple repair shops, or third-party repair shops.
Apple actually replaces your iPod with a refurbished iPod and the price will depend on what model you have. Others will repair your iPod and the prices tend to be lower.
Apple prices are here: Service Answer Center - iPod

  • I cracked my screen on my iPod 4th gen, can I bring it in to get fixed?

I need to get my iPod screen fixed, it's cracked bad.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Apple doesn't repair iPods, so you will get a refurbished device. See "Repair Pricing" > http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipod
