Crackling Sound with Announcements

Hi. I use the "announce when event occurs" option in iChat. Last night, I did a video chat, and audio chat, and some screen sharing. After all that, the announcements now crackle when they occur. Any idea who to fix it? My speakers are fine, and anything else with the sound is fine, including iChat sound effects.
Thanks.

I just bought my Tritton AX720 a couple of days ago. Like you I tried to use the USB cable to connect it to my MB Air in order to communicate via Skype, but I cannot get it to work at all.
Changing the settings to the C-Media USB Device in the Skype- or System settings doesn't work, all the sound is still played and recorded with the built-in speakers/mic.
I changed the settings in the Audio-MIDI setup-menue, which resulted in the sound being played via the Headset, but the mic didn't work.
Furthermore: changing the Audio-MIDI options back to the built-in hardware doesn't work - the sound is still played via the Headset and the built-in mic cannot be activated. Only when i unplug the headset can i use the mic again.

  • Crackling Sounds with X-FI Extreme Mu

    I got a wierd problem.
I got my new X-FI extreme music soundcard and i installed the cd drivers as usual.
I rebooted and everything sounded fine. The next day i turned my computer on, i can heard
a crackling / skipping sound. I do a software reboot (restart windows). And when
I have rebooted, the problem is gone. This distortion/skipping only appears when i
start the computer for the first time, i HAVE to reboot to get rid of the problem.
But if I do a hard reboot (power switch) the problem is still there. Very wierd?I have tried uninstalling, reformating..tried all kinds of drivers. Nothing helps!
    Motherboard : Asus A8V
    Atlhon 64 3000+
    .2 gb ram

I have the EXACT same problem with my Audigy 2zs!! I also have an Asus A8V motherboard. I have to do the EXACT same thing to get rid of the crackling sounds!! I've also posted on the forums regarding this issue
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=35986
But it appears no one has any solution, especially Creative, Asus, and VIA!!!

  • Speaker crackling sound with media player on Equium

I have a problem with my speakers, anytime i go to use media player, all i hear is a crackling sound from them, any ideas.

    Hi
Does the crackling sound appear since a first day?
Does it happen if you play CD's or watch movies?
    Maybe some codex are missing.
Did you try to update the sound driver? If not so check it.
However, I have also read that sometimes a new OS installation could solve such issues.
I don't know why but possibly some files on the HDD could be damage.

  • Crackling Sound with Itunes

After giving up with pci-e extreme audio because of latency issues, I bought the pci-e fatalty pro pci-e. One of the problem is, there is a crackling issue when i stop and play another playlist in Itunes. You can fix it by changing modes.(i.e from entertainment mode to audio creation mode) but then again after you change playlists, it does it again.

I am unsure if this will help you or not. Itunes has an add-in setting which in my opinion only, may be similar to our using CMSS3d with our cards, etc.
Disable the Sound Enhancer feature in iTunes:
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. One the Edit menu, click Preferences.
    3. Click the Playback tab.
    4. Deselect Sound Enhancer.
and now see if you get the same crackles pops or sound playback problems. I disabled that setting on mine from the beginning, but hopefully you can toggle that setting and see if that helps you.

  • Crackling sound with Flashplayer 10

I have a major issue with the release of Flash Player 10. I
have over one thousand sound files pulled into my swf via XML of
spoken audio which now crackle with the new version of the player.
My developers tell me that it is to do with the encoding rate
being 48Khz and when they tried one at 44Khz it was fine. Obviously
I do not to have to re-encode all of the sound files when they
    should be fine anyway.
Has anyone else come up against this problem and know of a
    solution.

I'm honestly surprised you didn't have problems before with
audio files that were encoded to 48K. I have always had subtle
issues with audio if it isn't encoded to 44.1K. This is the way
Flash has been for as long as I can remember.
The only solution I know of is to re-encode all of the audio
    to 44.1

  • Crackling sound with Alsa after update.

    Hi all !
After my last upgrade I noticed a crackle in the sound but only on the left channel when I plug in my headphones. I don't know if this crackle is present with the laptop's speakers since they are very crappy (Macbook white falling-apart-body 1st gen); at least I can't head it.
The funny thing, is that if I have the headphones plugged during booting, there is no crackle once the system is running ! My system is fully up-to-date, here is the kernel version and alsaversion:
    kernel26 2.6.30-5
    alsa-lib 1.0.20-1
I have to add, I just brought this pair of headphones and they are very good, maybe the problem has been here for ages but I've never noticed it !
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks for reading !

I would suggest trying another pair of headphones just to see if it does the same thing.  I am not saying buy a new pair but use someones elses or such.  that at least should start narrowing down the problem

  • Crackling sound from iTunes (iMac/10.7)

I've seen some reports of crackling with audio in iTunes from Windows users.  I've noticed in the last few months (pre Lion and post Lion) that my iTunes occasionally but not always has a crackling sound with the music being played.  This doesn't happen with other apps (Spotify/EyeTV).  I can hear the crackling, play a different app with no crackling (same song on Spotify shows no issues) but iTunes persists.
    Anyone else?

I've noticed over the last two months the same thing. I've been using iTunes for many many years and never had a problem. I am running Mac OS 10.7.2 on a 2010 27inch iMac and have ripped all my CDs which there are over 10000 songs in different bit rates. 256/320 and Apple Lossless. I only appear to have the crackling at 320 bit rate which is odd and its not every CD. I have tried re-ripping but the same issue persists. What rate are yours at?

  • K8T Neo2 Crackling sound after updating BIOS to 9.3

Yet another problem since upgrading my comp with an X2 4200+ and flashing the BIOS to 9.3.  I am now getting problems with crackling sound with my PCI Creative SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 (yes I know its old but it works fine, or it did!).  With my old Athlon 3200+ Winchester and the 3.2 BIOS the sound card was working fine. The crackling seems to be linked to disk activity.  with no disk activity e.g watching live TV, no crackling.  With moderate disk activity e.g playing mp3 or video file etc, slight crackling.  Heavy disk activity e.g running disk search or starting a game etc, severe crackling.  This is repeatable every time so for example you can have live TV on with no sound problems then start a disk search and the crackling starts immediately.  There is no sign of any IRQ conflicts.  Have tried setting PCI latency in BIOS to 32 from default of 64, this had no effect.  A web search shows this was a common problem with this sound card and some earlier VIA motherboards.  Even vaguely recall the same problem myself with an old socket 7 board, but can't remember what I did about it.  Could try swapping PCI slots, but web searching suggest that rarely works for this problem and quite frankly after weeks of messing about I'm fed up of messing about with the computer.  Will report this one to MSI as well.

Sounds like there are few different issues here.  By the look of things there are potential problems with the on-board sound, so I'll keep that in reserve for the time being.  On the other hand there are two of us here with crackling problems from Creative SBLive based cards, which may or may not be Hard drive related.  In my case I have two Samsung HD's which have worked with the SBLive without problem up until the BIOS/CPU change.  Therfore I've come up with a few possibilities which I will work through one at a time.
    1.  The new BIOS (9.x) has issues with the SBLive, possibly due to Latency issues.  I'm going to have a play around with some 3rd party software to try and see what the latency seeting are for various divices.  One reported fix I've seen is lowering the AGP latency??
    2.  The sound card drivers are not installed correctly.  I've done this a few times. but have to admit getting the SBLive to work properly under XP has always been problematic, so may try this again.
    3.  The OS is not installed correctly.  I'm very suspicious of the OS since the BIOS/CPU upgrade, since I've had a few different problems.  May try a fresh install on a different hard drive.  That way I can see if it effects any of my issues and if it doesn't help can go back to my exsisting install easily.
4  APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller and NOT ACPI) This is my prime suspect at the moment.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't notice a setting for enabling APIC in the 3.2 BIOS and presume that it wasn't supported in that BIOS??  However it is enabled by default in the 9.x BIOS's,  I was very surprised after installing the 9.3 BIOS and X2 CPU for the first time that on start up the OS not only detected new hardware for the CPU but for everything else as well, video, sound card, IDE controllers etc etc.  I'm now suspicious that this was due to starting up with APIC enabled which reassigned all the IRQ's for the hardware.  Conventional wisdom seems to suggest that you cannot switch APIC on or off in BIOS without re-installing the OS?  I'll try the investigate this one with the OS reinstall mentioned above, but must admit admit to being very uncertain about the effects of this mode and the pros and cons of having enabled/disabled.  Can anyone shed any light on this issue before I start experimenting.

  • XFi crackling sound solve

    Hi Guys,
I had the same crackling sounds with my card. I bought the Cinema edition and there comes a xtreme music with this package. When i installed the drivers, my system was dam slow. the sound was crap and i could forget to play a game. Then i switched to win XP 64 and downloaded the driver for this system, gess what? The crackling stopt, games run fast and the sound is just beautiful. So switched back to win XP 32 bit. with a my new clean system i downloaded the update. and then i installed ONLY the update and my xfi runs as good under win xp (32) as it has under 64 bit. Then you can install the additional software that comes with your cd. All is running fine. But NEVER install the driver that comes with the cd. I installed the old driver and my system again (after the update). My system was slow and i had the crap sound again.
The only thing you lose is the IR Remote Control, somehow that thing doesn't work. Because of that i installed the old driver again (as i mentioned above), the remote works then, but well you know slow system and crackling sound.
So if anybody knows what the file is, i must install for the remote to work, plz tell me.
PS: when this solution was already posted in the 04+ page thread regarding this issue, i apologise. But could anyone tell me a solution with the remote issue anyway

Here's a bit of info that crackle-sufferers might find useful. There's a bit of a story behind it, but stay with me, I think it will be worth your while.
I just tried installing an X-Fi Platinum, and had to give up. The card was simply not detected. No matter what, system would not detect, drivers would not install. I tried everything. After too many hours of effort and a long call to tech support, I gave up and tried to revert to my previous Audigy 2 card.
    Guess what? MASSIVE crackling!
I freaked. This system had been working perfectly for months. I tried all the solutions that have been posted... moving the card, pulling all other cards, etc. Finally, I scrubbed the system... ran the driver remover, deleted every line in the registry with "X-Fi," "Audigy" or "Creative" in it, deleted the Creative folder in Program Files, etc., etc. Of course, then the Audigy card wouldn't recognize! Much more swearing, fritzing... but bottom line, it finally installed.
    Guess what? NO MORE CRACKLE!
I knew the X-Fi software had not uninstalled fully, which was my first clue. Now, back on pure Audigy drivers (the latest version), all is well. What does that say to you? To me, it puts the blame for the crackling squarely on the X-Fi drivers. Oh, sure, there are probably other contributing factors (since not every system exhibits the problem), but if having even a remnant of those cursed X-Fi drivers installed is enough to produce hideous crackling on a previously faultless Audigy 2, what other conclusion can you draw?
The logic seems ironclad to me. The good news: Creative COULD fix the problem, if it's just in the drivers. That stuff about the cards not recognizing... now THAT'S just evil. This is 2006 (isn't it's). That kind of annoyance went out with Win95.

  • Help with Audigy 2 Zs and crackling sound ..

For the past 5 months or so ( not long after I got the product ) I have been getting this periodic issue with the sound ...
I'll start to notice a popping and crackling sound coming from the left channel when loud sounds issue from the game ( multiple games ). After a while I figured ou ttha tI could :
a: Reset all my settings to Default , Then reconfigure my surround
    or
b: Reinstall and/or patchthe current driver set ...
Both seem to fix the issue for some time then it all returns within a month or so .... It's a rela pain to have to keep configuring my Audio settings every month.
    My system specs are
    Asus A7N8X DLX Rev. 02
    AMD 3000+
    Gig Corsair XMS
    BFG 6800GT 256
    Audigy 2 ZS
    Raptor 74 Gig
and some Altec Landsing Speakers ( I forgot the model number )
Any idea what could be causing this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I got the fix for you twellons. Just go in the audio control panel and mute the midi/synth in the panel and you will have the fix. My system specs are close toy yours amd 2800xp, nforce 2 a7n8x dlx ver .04 and a original audigy card. Now creative has to address this issue in new drivers. Also download the demo of contract jack and when you load the game and the game menus comes up, scroll through the options in that menu like new game, load game quickly and you will here that popping noise in only the left speaker. and when you do that fix that i mentioned above, no more popping . So try that out and please get back to me and tell me if it worked or not. That issue was tough to figure out.

  • Severe sound crackling noise with SB X-Fi ExtremGamer and 680i m

My computer suddenly (~3 weeks+ after my new build) started making extremely loud crackling noises anytime I have sound on. I remember hearing some crackling noise before on one occasion, but not nearly at this level and it seemed to "magically" disappeared so I forgot about it.
I swapped the speakers to another computer and verified that they are not the source. Unfortunately, I do not have another sound card to swap and check. I updated all of my mobo and sound card drivers, and tried my sound card on both PCI slots on the 680i, all to no avail. EDIT:Happens even with no applications and speakers on, just having Windows running has a slight crackle. No overclocking on my system.
On-board sound is disabled on BIOS.
It still makes ths sound with speaker wires touching absolutely nothing (and also stretched out as to not be wound up).
    No microphone on my system.

  • Crackling Sound Problems in Games with an Audigy

    Hello everybody,
I started playing Warcraft III, World of Warcraft and Battlefield2 quite a while ago and at that time I did not have any problems in game. Until one day I started playing World of Warcraft and a crackling sound appeared. This sound was amplified in close places such as caves and houses and became sincerely annoying when several characters were on screen.
The sound itself looks like a crispy sound of fireworks and it hides usual sounds.
I noticed that this problem was particularly present in Warcraft an World of Warcraft and sometimes in Battlefield2.
My PC does not lack in power (Athlon FX-55, Ati Radeon X-800 XT...)and has an Audigy Sound Blaster 2ZS and a 2. Gigaworks sound system.
The problem appeared on its own and i did not activate any particular program. I tried playing with a headset and the sounds remained. I do not have any problems when listening to music.
I noticed that when I raised the bass and diminish the trebble, the sound lessens but it is still present.
Any help would be truly appreciated.
    Sincerely, Dimitri

    "How old is everyones card"
mine is 2 years old, generally my Creative cards li've aroud 5 years.
"I also notice I get it after a while of playing bf2..."
This kind of problem is more often software than hardware. Don't forget sound as every other things in your pc need a code implementation. It can be a bug in the drivers, but also because of one, present in your game sound engine (not the first time I would see it).
    "I too have enough power..."
If your soundcard or any of your pc ocmponent wasn't receiving enough power, you would have other annoyances, like (no sound, or even reboots)
"see there are some beta drivers posted. Anyone try these?"
I prefer no using beta releases, sorry. This new drivers should do what they're said they do (see the details notes), but could also behave differently from one computer to another (the joy of betas).

whenever I call my home phone, I hear a lot of snap crackle pop sounds with 3G active. If I turn off 3G, this stops. How do I fix this?

there is no fix. It's a GSM 3G thing. I used to be able to go to the movies and put my phone next to a movie theatre speaker and it do the same thing....
i just figured the newest 3G technologies did away with it
