Crash on start up (but not right after a re-install) w/ Vista

I have an odd problem that only seems to be affecting LR 1.3 and not LR 1.1. When I first install 1.3, I can open and run it fine... but as soon as I close it and re-open it I get a crash on the splash screen. It just says this program has stopped working. The file listed in the details is "ui.dll"
So then if I uninstall it, and immediately re-install it works for one single time. Essentially I have to re-install every time I want to run it.
This does not happen with LR 1.1 on my machine. I can't stay with 1.1 because my new camera is one of the new ones added in 1.3. And yes, this problem also exists with 1.3.1.
Core2duo E6750, 3GB DDR2-800, nvidia 8800GT 512mb, Vista Ultimate 32bit with all updates, etc.
Things I have tried so far to fix this:
-Re-installing a million times
-Trying 4 different revisions of my video card drivers including the latest ones
-replacing the ui.dll with random ones I've found on the internet (didn't work obviously)
-Deleting Lightroom preferences file (when I do this and open it, I will get to the first preference-setting screen and then it crashes)
-Temporarily moving my catalog and presets so its forced to start with a fresh one
-All Vista updates
-Disabled all unnecessary start-up items and services
-No anti-virus software installed
-Installed it on a different hard drive
Pretty much everything I can think of short of a complete reformat which I really don't feel like doing and probably has a low chance of actually working.
Does anyone know what ui.dll is for? I heard it might have something to do with printing, and I've also heard its for the user interface. I don't have a printer installed on this machine but I tried installing one anyway to see if it would change anything... it didn't.
I am at work now but these were some thing I was going to try when i got home:
-Install 1.1 and make a copy of its ui.dll and try using that in 1.3
-Un-install all other Adobe apps to see if theres a conflict

I notice you haven't called Adobe support--unless you overlooked mentioning it. That is what I would do at this point. Without knowing just what apps you have on and all the facts of your configuration, it will be a matter of mostly guesswork here. That it hangs on ui.dll may give Adobe support the clue they need to troubleshoot it.
Here's one solution that might work. Set up a dual boot system, putting nothing but LR on one side--no internet, just the bare bones. Put LR on alone. Then add programs you may want to use with it, one at a time. If that solves the problem, LR will also run faster--in my case about 1.5 times as fast. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

I hope the title is enough info, please ask. In the mean time I have created an applescript to open preferences/ sharing and uncheck then check the file sharing box. This works but I would obviously prefer it just work normally. I have no corrupt preference files. Perhaps a file is missing? Thank you.

Adobe Flash plugin crashes on MANY sites, but not all (not YouTube)

Adobe Flash plug in crashes on certain sites, but not on all (not on YouTube, for instance). The big problem is NBA league pass. I spoke to a friend who was happily watching NBA league pass next door, so their feed isn't the problem.
This occurs in both IE and Firefox. It also crashed Safari. I'm running Windows XP. I've reinstalled both browsers (latest version), rebooted several times, and reinstalled Flash too.

Since this is happening in all browsers, try turning off hardware acceleration in your [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash Player display settings]:
Right-click on any Flash video or animation (such as the animation on [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ this Flash test page]), click "Settings" and uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration" in the Display tab.

Premiere crashes with 2 passes but not on 1 pass on flash export. Premiere claim that RAM memory is too low even though I look in task manager that only 4.5 GB is used of 12 GB?
Can anyone confirm this bug and try to render a file from Premiere in flash format with 2 passes?
This is the first bug I found in side Premier CS5.0.2 exept low use of my GTX470 cuda cores.

That was part of it. I did an end-around by setting up an alternate outgoing (send) server which was the same as the primary, identical settings, name, password. I deselected the primary and used only the secondary. Reboot as you suggested and Voila! Something must have been corrupted in the primary.

Thanks for the suggestion - but I eventually tried again and was able to contact via "chat" to someone qualified to help. The problem was that in my existing "bridge" - preference was (I think by default) - checked to startup in background on Login. I did not realize this - because I don't think I set it that way in the first place (maybe I did a few years ago) - and I could not see anything in task manager to suggest that bridge was running an application or any process - but when I learned this - I was successful in installing PS CS6.
Yes, I'm still not on solid ground re: whether or not I want to change from "owning" the tool or renting it -- what concerns me is that is sounds like regardless of users wishes, Adobe is headed in this direction and will eventually make it financially more feasible to go that route. At the moment I think they are "asking" for everyone to get on their bandwagon, but who knows. They have a powerful set of tools, that they continue to support and advance - and along with those development and support costs, they also would like to make a profit - so I understand if their past marketing model is no longer sufficient.

I got a C6280 and the scanner does not work anymore. I am for 6 days in contact with HP. The last printer driver install form the apple web site does not open the image of HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.dmg because of an invalid checksum. The skipping of the validation gives and error in the install.

There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.
Better support for today's hardware with larger video graphic memory and systems.
Better memory management.
