Crashing Browser...

I know this was an issue early on for most people when 2.0 was first introduced. However I haven't seen any posts about the problem in a while. I can only assume that the updates have fixed the problem for everyone but me. My browser crashes at leas 2-3 times per day. I am up to date with 2.1, I turn the phone off at least once every 24hrs, I'm not using the ipod at the time of the crash and I have recently performed a hard reset through itunes and Nothing has worked. I am overall very happy with my 3G, and everything else seems to be working fine, with just a few glitches here and there. Just wondering if anyone else out there is having this problem...

Apple rarely releases anything about a particular reported problem (we know about it and are working on it, etc.) with a few exceptions with one being information released a week or so in advance that firmware update 2.1 would include a bug fix or fixes for reported 3G reception issues.
So to them, there is no issue with Safari.
Just because Apple doesn't release a statement indicating they are aware of each and every issue, namely this issue and are working on a fix doesn't mean they aren't "listening". I think you are wrong if you believe Apple isn't aware of this particular issue - when every Apple employee was given a first generation iPhone as a company gift a little over a year ago (Steve Jobs and all top execs also have/use an iPhone), and for other reasons - the iPhone diagnostic report that comes up when syncing my iPhone with iTunes after I've experienced a Safari crash or after a 3rd party app crash (which I always send to Apple) is not sent just for kicks or for no purpose whatsoever.

  • Applet Crashes Browser with XP

    I have an applet, which runs normally when I just have a single instance of the applet on a page. However on another page I have a number of instances of the applet running. The page will load the first time but when I reload it the browser crashes and closes. I then get a file on my desktop called hs_err_pid****.log which contains the text below. I am running XP and JRE 1.4.2_03. The page will load fine using Microsoft JVM and after reading http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=54&thread=347810 I tried this with 2000 and JRE 1.4.2_03. The page loads fine and does not crash. Does anyone know of any bugs related to XP, which could be causing this and any work arounds for them?
    Cheers

    Did you ever get this figured out? If not, try catching ThreadDeath from one
    of your threads and print the stack trace. I am trying to convince Sun that another bug that they closed as "user error" is actually a jvm bug.
    You can actually make a simple test case- it is one page of java code that
    crashes browser on first or second refresh when you have two instances on
    a page. See:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5054115
    if you simply lauch a thread, sleep for a while and call ThreadGroup.stop() you can produce a failure which I think replicates the jvm failure mode. Please let me know what you find or found. Thanks.

  • Acrobat 9 crashes browser

    When trying to open pdf documents in a browser window, Acrobat 9 and Acrobat Reader 9 both cause the browser to crash.  In IE8, it causes the current tab to crash over and over again until eventually I get a "Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website" message.  In Firefox, the entire browser closes and gives a "Firefox had a problem and crashed" message.  I've also tested it on Opera and had similar results.  It happens when using both Windows XP and Windows 7.
    It's a strange issue because Acrobat 8 and Reader 8 are both able to open pdf documents in the browser just fine.  I've been unchecking the "open documents in browser" option for Acrobat 9, but my company has some applications that require opening pdfs in the browser to function correctly.  We'd like to upgrade to 9, but can't until we get this issue sorted out.
    Acrobat 9 is completely updated, but the issue still occurs.  I'm at a loss as to what could be causing it.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi broger_1,
    Thanks for your reply.
    In regards to your query:
    Is the problem seen with both Reader and Acrobat?
    No, this is only seen when Acrobat is install. It is working fine when only Reader is installed.
    What is your definition of a dynamic link? Post example.
    At the moment, I cannot find a online example for reference. I will try to describe by example.
    Let's say if I goes to https://nonexistance_site.com/brochure_ folder/broc_1.pdf, and the "Display PDF in Browser" was already enabled.
    The content of the broc_1.pdf contains a hyperlink that points to "../broc_2.html"
    Our issue now is the we can only download the pdf file to a folder, say c:/pdfs/broc_1.pdf, so when we tried to access the dynamic link, it will tries to locate c:/pdfs/broc_2.html, which is non-existence. And direct access to https://nonexistance_site.com/brochure_ folder/broc_2.html would not work for some reason (possibily session restriction, or something else).
    What are your security settings? (is Enhanced Security enabled?)
    This setting is currently disabled in the Acrobat Pro 9 preference. Should this stays as disabled?
    This only happens when attempting to "download & display" any pdf files from the net, displaying of local pdf that is already downloaded is fine.

  • Adobe Reader 9.1 crashes browser when clicking PDF links

    Steps to recreate issue:
    1. With Adobe Reader 9 loaded on your Windows PC...
    2. With ANY browser, go to any url where you can download PDF forms (ex. www.dlis.dla.mil/PDFs/DD2875.pdf  OR  http://www.irs.gov/app/picklist/list/formsInstructions.html and click on any .pdf form)
    Results: The browser (whether IE 6, 7, 8 or Firefox, Netscape, etc) will crash.  The support window takes you to a place that informs you it is an Adobe problem.
    Expected results: The PDF should be opened and displayed as usual.
    Mitigation: It only occurs with Adobe Reader 9.  When I uninstalled Adobe Reader 9, and reinstalled 8.1.3 there was no issue.
    Can I get a witness?
    How about a fix for this?
    [I also work at government sites where they have lots of .pdfs accessible online.  They cannot open any of them because of this issue with Adobe Reader 9; the browser just crashes and that is the end of that.]

    You could try some of these: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/391737
    However, sometimes replacing \windows\system32\ace.dll with the adobe one in \program files\adobe ...... reader\ace.dll has been said to work.  Really ugly fix - hopefully someone at Adobe corrects this issue in the future.

  • Pdf form crashes browser

    i created a pdf form in adobe live cycle designer and when i  click the link to the pdf on my website, the browser crashes. I then have to ctrl+alt+delete to end task and then a window pops up saying "xml parsing error: unclosed token (error code 5), line 5259, column 2 of file". Another one comes up after this saying "xml parsing code error: no element found (error code 3), line 1, column 1 of file"
    The weird thing is if i right click the link and "save link as" the pdf will download to my computer with no problems.
    Anyone know what's going on here??

    Hi,
    Open Acrobat and go to the preferences / internet. Check that the "Display in Browser" is checked.
    Hope that works,
    N.

  • Flash content that utilizes webcam crashes browser

    I believe this issue may effect ALL SONY VAIO laptops. Any
    Flash content that utilizes the webcam will crash the browser. I
    have tested in IE and Opera.
    I am currently running Vista Business and have reproduced
    this in Vista Ultimate with the same laptop(VGN-TT190).
    Basically go to youtube and choose to upload a video using
    "Quick Capture". When the flash content loads it will crash the
    browser. This happens on ANY flash content that accesses the
    webcam. Even adobe's own webcam test.
    Another way to crash flash/browser would be to right click
    any flash content. Choose settings. Got to webcam settings and the
    browser will crash.
    Please help me!
    Thank you!

    I have talked to Sony about this and we have reached a
    workaround.
    it involves a file called BtwVdpCapFilter.dll (it is a
    bluetooth profile that essentially allows people to share their
    webcam across bluetooth BUT no one uses this) and it is what is
    crashing when you access the webcam thru IE/Firefox/Opera.
    So go to C:\windows\system32 and rename it to anything for
    example BtwVdpCapFilter1.dll and everything should be fine. Sony
    said they will be releasing a patch for this.
    Enjoy!

  • LiveConnect crashes browser????  External exception thrown.

    Hey,
    Im using an applet that sometimes calls liveconnect, specifically when the applet JFrame is closed, it has the browser navigate to another page.
    This part works great. Then maybe 5 minutes later, and sporadically, IE will crash and put a file on my desktop (winXP).
    Please let me know if you have any ideas, here's some code and the error file from the desktop:
    try {
    //gets the applet reference
    JSObject win = JSObject.getWindow(
    (Applet)MainMenu.getCurrentMenu().getParent());
    //calls a javascript function, this part works great
    Object answer = win.eval("appletGlue('" + theFunction
    + "', " + questionID + ",'" + param3 + "');");
    //even checks the javascript return value...
    if (answer.toString().equals(ResourceFactory.JAVASCRIPT_SUCCESS)) {
    //done, this works fine too
    return;
    //response = "Success";
    } else {
    response = "ERROR: could not " + errorMessage + " , "
    + answer.toString();

  • Adobe flash player crashes browser

    The flash player I use started craching just itself now it crashes both firefox and IE. Ive already reinstalled it what now.

    The next thing to check would be your McAfee add ons that are in each browser.
    You didn't say which McAfee program you have Installed, but try disabling any and all of the addons.
    There is also a Virus Scan that is known to cause problems, but you double click the icon in your system tray and see if you have it.
    Click Advanced Menu, Configure, Computer & Files. The Virus Scan should be in the right-hand windows.
    Some users have the scriptproxy, Toolbar, etc.
    Turning these off and see if that helps.
    Also when you say the browsers are crashing, explain exactly what is happening. Anti-Virus addons in the browser can conflict with the Websites and also Flash Player, since Flash Player works thru the browser. In fact addons can conflict with each other.
    That would be the only thing that I know that is left to check.
    Thanks,

  • Why? Safari always crashes browsing Facebook on iPhone4S?

    As per title, it crashes every single time when I use the desktop version of Facebook using Safari browser. I've tried restart the phone, and reset the phone and still have the same problem. Anyone else experience this annoying situation? I use Facebook to advertise my business and communicate with clients. As you may or may not be aware of, some of the functions are only accessible via the desktop version. I'd appreciate some insights. Thank you!

    Hi Red Red Storm, have you had any luck with finding out a fix for this? I hate how Apple forums seem to be the last place to turn to when you need help and no one seems to provide any assistance whatsoever.
    Like I said, I'm having a similar problem. Mine isn't just Facebook however, it's Twitter and iMessages appears to be effected. I cannot use twitter or Facebook apps or their mobile optimized pages on safari. I click their bookmark, the wheel turns at the top as it begins to load, but it crashes immediately. I don't even get to see a single piece of text. It just crashes, 20 - 30 - 40 times in a row. Back to back. Then, it's normal again for a period of time.
    Here is a copy of a post I made two hours ago:
    Has any iPhone 4 users been experiencing more crashes than normal? I cannot open Facebook or Twitter on safari or their apps. My iPhone acts as if it's loading the page data up then the screen goes black and safari crashes. Same with their respective apps. It's as if those two pages overload my phone. I had this problem with iOS5 and it's recent update iOS 5.1.1. Today my phone crashed 23 times in a row (yes I counted!) before I gave up trying to open them.
    Along with the two issues above, I noticed if I send any iMessages to anyone during the time I am experiencing the high number of crashes, they delete off my phone AND the recipients phone. They will deliver, but when I open iMessage after a crash they will have gone.
    Last week I plugged my phone to iTunes and did a software upgrade and imediately started having the issue, then within about two hours of upgrading to 5.1.1 I I had to do a software restore because it was SO bad. It solved the problem for all of about NEVER lol I thought it might have something to do with the ram needed to run those apps and load those pages so I deleted ALL my images and loads of apps I don't use, that only increased my storage size. When I started experiencing these issues I had about 4gb left of my 16gb storage, after a restore and clean out I had 10gb.  When I started experiencing the problems I was still on iOS 5.0 I'm now on iOS 5.1.1 and it's gotten worse and thrown the new issue of iMessages deleting that I have sent in to the mix.
    Lastly, I noticed its not a constant issue. I will have a series of crashes, my phone will act incredibly slow, iMessage deletes messages etc, Facebook and Twitter don't open, in fact my phone will crawl so slowly it's pure agony, switching my phone off and the back on doesn't help, and then it will suddenly work again. Like today, I was out sat in the huge post office queue and tried to use Facebook via safari and it kept crashing, happened over and over, it was like this for about 30 minutes, then it sorted itself out again and now I am at home I can use Facebook via safari.
    Come to think of it, could it be related to the fact that I was trying to load those apps and we pages up on 3G and not wifi?

  • "Downloads Window" Crashes Browser

    For the past two days, whenever I try to download something using safari browser, my browser crashes. I think it is because of the flash player. I tried installing all the possible versions of flash player, but still couldn't resolve the issue.
    Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hello Nicholas:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    One easy thing to try.
    Reset Safari and trash the preference file (com.apple.safari.plist) and restart.

  • Webcam crashes browser

    I seem to have this problem where my broswer crashes when trying to use my webcam! Or if I go to my flash settings and click on the webcam tab before anything can even display it crashes! Ive tried up dating my flash player but that does'nt work! Ive tried multiple browser and they all do the same thing. I have a Dell Vostro 200 Destop! Any help would be great!

    Enjoy!

  • Java Crashing Browser

    I'm not a developer, but don't know where else to post this. How can I prevent sites that utilize Java from crashing my browser when Regional and Language Options > Advanced: Language for non-Unicode programs is set to Japanese while the rest of the system is set to English (United States) in Windows XP? This occurs in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

    If I remember rightly, when the JVM crashes it writes a log file, and delivers a message to the console telling you where that log was put.
    You need to get a look at stdout and stderr, which are usually written to a file in a server environment.

  • Quicktimeh264.qtx version 7.2.0.240  crashes browser

    hello world,
    my h264 encoded, html-embedded quicktime movies crashes every browser with nvidia based gpu's and the latest drivers installed. without hardware acceleration (only GDI) all things work fine...
    quicktime version: 7.2 with latest patch (QuickTime.qts = 7.2.0.245)
    nvidia driver: 163.71 (6.14.11.6371)
    i hope apple will fix this issue soon - and sorry for my bad english,
    zwonkiponki

    Unfortunately, there APPEARS to be an issue with QuickTime 7.x and newer nVidia drivers (all 8x00-based cards???), but neither nVidia or Apple acknowledge any problem even though there are MANY complaints about this around the Internet support message boards. It seems to have more to do with nVidia's drivers (or their drivers mixed with the latest DirectX 9 updates) than QuickTime itself, though -- something with the DirectDraw support. The same version of QuickTime works fine in Vista w/ nVidia's drivers.
    I'd highly recommend reporting the issue to nVidia support so that THEY can see more complaints regarding this issue. Until then, you have to disable DirectDraw support in QuickTime prefs (or use Safe Mode there), but you'll get lower-quality embedded QT vids.

  • Crash browser after QuickTime in Director

    We have used Director for many years but have a recent
    problem with QuickTime 7 plug in. If we play a Director Shockwave
    file with a QuickTime movie in it in either the FireFox or Internet
    Explorer browsers, the next Shockwave file we attempt to open
    crashes the browser. It doesn't matter whether we attempt to open
    the same SW file or another file with or without a QuickTime movie
    in it, it still crashes the browsers. We even stripped all other
    Lingo out of the Director file to make sure it was QuickTime that
    caused the problem. If we go back to QuickTime 6.5.2 plug in, the
    problem does not appear. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Hi Jim.
    We are repurposing previously created CD-rom projects for the
    web via Shockwave. I have noticed that exiting the browser tab
    after playing a QT video or jumping to another link within the
    Shockwave file has caused crashes.
    I posted a similar question to these boards regarding
    Director crashing on me when accessing a QT file within Director.
    Someone suggested I turn down my graphics hardware acceleration. I
    did that (turned it very far down) and I am now able to view, play,
    work in Director without a problem. I am also able to view the QTs
    online within my Shockwave file without the whole thing crashing on
    me. I haven't done extensive testing just yet to see if it's the
    total fix for me. It doesn't answer the question as to why this is
    happening though. Is it only my computer? Will others have this
    same issue? Is it only computers with additional multimedia
    production programs? Is it fine on "general user" computers?
    Upon doing some more digging I found this...
    Here's a link to notes about a QT Xtra update that seems to
    address our exact problem:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19353&sliceId=2
    Scroll down to where it says "Bug fixes for Director and
    Shockwave version 10.1.1.016"
    I'll have to ask the guy who Shocked my files if he has this
    "new" Xtra. Perhaps it's our answer....

  • Internal Build Error - more info crashing browser

    I am using Flash Builder 4 stand-alone...though I see that it is actually Eclipse, but when I edit and save I get an internal build error almost every time.  If I clean the project it resolves, but I have to do it almost every time.  When I right-click on "more information" it opens then crashes the browser...frustrating because I can't see what the problem is...any help greatly appreciated.
