Create a subset of latest images?

So after i have created my website and had it up and running
for a while i have got some feedback from people visiting.
One thing i often get is if there is a way to see the latest
added photos in my galleries.
I have tried and figure it out but can't really come up with
a good solution, so i am checking here if anyone can help me out.
The site is located at www.kanonphoto.com and is based on the
spry galleries / gallery structure that was part of the
example.

a couple things:
Add an ID to your XML files, 1,2,3, oldest to newest, and
then sort that data set by ID in the correct order so that the new
stuff shows up at the start of the gallery.

Or just make a gallery for Recent Work.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I want to create a pdf from an image library that's shared across a server by 20 mac users.
But I want the 'contact sheet' to include clickable links from the thumbnails within it, eg:
the user can double click and image and it will open in photoshop.
I've tried a few things via Acrobat pro and Bridge but nothing seems to match what I want.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Problem in creating client side PDF with image using flex and AlivePD

I need a favor I am creating client side PDF with image using flex and AlivePDF for a web based application. Images have been generated on that pdf but it is creating problem for large size images as half of the image disappeared from that pdf.I am taking the image inside a canvas . How do i control my images so that they come fit on that pdf file for any image size that i take.

I am having a similar and more serious problem. It takes a
long time to execute, but even attaching a small image balloons the
pdf to 6MB plus. After a few images it gets up to 20MB. These are
100k jpeg files being attached. The resulting PDF is too large to
email or process effectively. Does anyone know how to reduce
size/processing?

Select your image and in the hyperlinks tool on the toolbar simply type in your site address you want to link to. be sure to include the http:// before the domain name.

After creating a 10.4.7 image on eitgher a G5 or a MBP

After creating a 10.4.7 image and restoring it on either a G5 or a MBP what now shows up under the hard drive is alias's for etc,tmp and var..what is causeing this.?? I have used a app called XRAy to make them invisable to the user. but just not sure whats causeing this issue..

Sounds like you used Disk Utility to make your "clones" (not images), right? Here is the cure:
Here's how to make a /.hidden file. This only works for admin users.
1. Open the Terminal.
2. Type "pico /.hidden" without the quotation marks.
3. Type the names of the file/folder you want hidden.
The resulting list should have one name per line.
4. Hit Control-O then the Return key to save /.hidden.
5. Hit Control-X to Exit.
6. Type "sudo chmod a=r /.hidden" without quotes.
7. Enter password if asked.
8. Type "sudo chown root:wheel /.hidden" without quotes.
9. Quit Terminal.
10. Restart the Computer.

How do I create a subset of contacts for emailing purposes

I have several contacts that I wish to mail to. Some have email addresses some do not; some emailable contacts I want to mail to and some I do not. I thought I would move the contacts off the cloud (as it would be faster to create and edit a subset). I then created a subset where an email address exists. However, when I delete a contact from the subset, it deletes it from the 'All contact' group. When the contacts were on the cloud, the system would prompt me, 'Do you wish to delete this card from the selected group or totally (or words to that effect)'. Now the system deletes the contact from the All contacts group (and this from the subset too). How can I get aropund this?

Hi, In need of help creating a simple effect to image.

Attached is an image which shows more or less the effect I am needing to achieve.

I created the image above by desaturating the colour image of the man and then adding a new purple layer and selecting 'vivid light' from the layer palette drop down box. In doing this the man became purple but the white area surrounding him stayed white...I then adjusted the layers on the first layer so that the white part became purple - the final result is what you see in the attached image.
The problem is this - I need to create this effect for 15 or so images all with a specific purple pantone colour, I need to create these for print ready artwork. All the pictures (ie the man) I will be using, need to look the same kind of shade. The way I was creating these before was to adjust the bottom layer so its grey rather than white so that the white area becomes purple.
Confusing huh, If you dont understand my question (and I dont blame you!) then all I need is to create a set of 15 images that look like the attached image (using a specific pantone) but I have no idea how the best way to do it is.
How would you guys achieve that? Any help greatly appreciated.

Because with the extreme depths adding Black at least might be beneficial.
You could make a Selection of a black&white-version-of-the-photographs luminance, inverse it and, in the Channels-Panels PopUp-menu, choose Add New Spot Channel for the Foreground color and select the Pantone color.
Then Add New Spot Channel for the background-color and fill that solid black and hide the layers that contain the composite of the photograph.
This should leave You with blank composite channels and the two Spot Channels visible.
Indesign can handle either psd- or DCS2-files containing Spot Channels.
The problem I perceive here is that depending on the print-process and the background color selected it might proof necessary to knock out the foreground elements if the company is very strict on their CI colors. Unfortunately simply inversing the foreground selection would probably not work as this might leave the mixed-color-areas greyish.
Are the prints gonna be offset or silkscreen?

Hi all, I'm just wondering how I can create a black and white image similar to what I see in the preview window of the "Replace Color" tool. See attached screenshot for clarification -- I need the grass to be black while the soil is white or vice versa. Any tips?

One way is to use Select>Color Range
Make a new Color Fill Layer>White
(Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color)
Put a new color fill layer below>black
Just invert the layer mask on the top fill layer for the opposite effect.

I want to create a DVD of JPEG images from multiple albums in my catalog. I am using Windows 7 and Premier Elements 11. I have not been able to insert more than one menu marker in my "video." Any suggestions?

I seldom ran across a question to which I could offer an abridged answer. Sorry about that.
There is an assortment of miscellaneous information to guide your path as to what you can and cannot do with regard to a Premiere Elements DVD Template that represent the Main Menu and Scene Menu set. The number and kind of menu markers that you place on the Timeline are linked to the Menus - Main Menu or Scene Menu depending whether you have placed a Main Menu Marker or Scene Marker on the Timeline. Again, do not put a Stop Marker at the end of the last file on the Timeline.
Each movie (in your case album) cannot have its own Scene Selection page or pages. All the Timeline scene markers representation found on the Scene Selection page or pages is there in the order that each was placed on the Timeline. There is a limited amount of space under each scene thumbnail, and you do want to avoid button overlap.
Each main menu and scene menu that came with the program is designed with a certain number of buttons per page (Main Menu page or Scene Selection page). When the number of Timeline markers exceed the number of designed in buttons per page, the buttons spill over to additional pages (each a copy of the first).
Most Main Menu pages come with Play All button, Scene Selection button, and some with Main Menu or Bonus Movie button. Most are text type buttons, fewer are thumbnail type buttons for this Main Menu. You see the thumbnail type buttons in the Scene Selection Page, and typically the maximum number there is about 6, may goes to 8 in some rare instances.
Once you introduce Stop Markers to separate the multi movie type setup, your Play Movie (Play All) button on the Main Menu is meaningless. And, the reminder, two menu markers cannot occupy the same spot on the Timeline.
Important to the project are the pixel dimensions of the photos and the duration of the content. If you are heading for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc Standard or Widescreen, the pixel dimensions should not exceed 1000 x 750 pixel (landscape) – classical recommendation here and elsewhere. Greater than that typically does not accomplish much other than stressing out the program. The level of computer resources can often dictate whether the program stress will set in sooner or later. That 1000 x 750 which is not written in stone is close enough to the export standard and will leave some room for pans and zooms if needed. Look to the Premiere Elements burn dialog prior to burn to and look at the Quality Section’s values for Space Required and Bitrate. The DVD-R 4.7 GB/120 min is in reality 4.3 GB and the “for best results” classical recommendation is not to exceed 90 minutes for this type of disc. There is also the DVD double layer disc 8.5 GB (really 7.3 GB)/240 minutes to think about.
How does this all impact what you outlined for what you would like to do? Many thoughts on that, but for starters:
Are your photos sized properly for a NTSC or PAL DV Standard or Widescreen project? Are you heading for NTSC or PAL DVD-VIDEO Standard or Widescreen? Are you considering Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc in this regard for your Premiere Elements project.
How many albums do you envision in each of your planned DVD discs. I suspect the number is going to be in excess of 6 or 8. Here some of the considerations might be:
…switch the names of the .psd files for the main and scene menu (just the names) so that you can take advantage of the larger number of scene buttons on an already designed Scene Menu. The Timeline markers are Main Menu Markers in this instance, no Scene Markers. Result: One page Main Menu with thumbnails there displaying the first photo in each album.
…editing the .psd file for a DVD Template to add more buttons to the design. That requires strict adherence to requirements for doing that, including editing with Photoshop CS and later or a version of Photoshop Elements that will open the Layer Groups of the .psd so that you can get at the Folders and Files that you need to modify/duplicate and the like.
If you wanted text buttons instead of thumbnail buttons, you could look at a DVD Menu such as Faux Widescreen Main Menu Page and customizing that.
Not sure if long trip descriptions (text) would be feasible. I can offer a how to for creating a page for information before the main menu (like those FBI notices) if you thought that might be appropriate for any overview trip descriptions per disk. Lots of details, Lots of choices, but often with limitations and special considerations if you are restricted to what comes as is with the program.
Please review the above and then we could fine tune with more specifics.

When creating a merged document the images seem to lose their quality

When I create a merged document, the images on the master pages seem to lose their quality, any thoughts why? Is there anyway I can prevent this.

Had problems with the parameters shown on pages webtogo in the datasubsettings section because none of them were "defined", but in sections 1.4.1.2 I found these lines:
Template: select * from master.task where CustCity = :city
Then click OK. This brings you back to the previous screen. The template query contains a variable (subscription parameter) named "city". Later, when you provision the application to a user, you will be prompted to enter the value for it.
I found out how to put a parameter to restrict registries that download to the pocket pc from each user.
