Create data merged document with data on every second page?

Is it possible to create a data merged document with the variable data only on every second page?
I have set up the pages with the variable data as a master page (on every odd page) with the text box and paragraph style all set up, and I have set 'override master page items' so the data can be placed, but InDesign seems to freeze up when I try to create the merged document?

There should be no problem doing the merge with a two-page master and a two-page template document with fields only on one page (and off the top of my head there's no reason to move them off the master page if that's where you put them). I think the problem here is that rachrachm already has a file of 500 pages (based on another thread asking how to apply masters to every other page).
It's potentially possible to simply place the data file (without the header row) as a text file and auto-flow through the master page frames (can't say for sure without seeing the files), or if the pages without the merge fields are the same just, remove all but the first two pages from the template and do the merge.
As I metioned earlier, though, this is a very inefficient method of producing that sort of document. A true variable data print flow would be better (you'd need to find a commercial printer who can do it with your data file), or the home version would be to make one single page file for the static content, print 250 copies (plus a few extras, just in case), then make a single page merge template, do the merge, and print that on the back of the already printed pages, or as a separate page. It is immeasurably faster to print multiple copies of a document than it is to print a document that has multiple identical pages.

  • Error in creating a Merge Document

    Hello, I am creating a merge document and want to use a numbers doc for the data source. I created the numbers document and Saved it. Then created the pages doc. Went to inspector and choose the link, browsed to my numbers doc, selected it, then clicked open; I get an error that says:
    Please select a numbers document that has one or more named header columns and one or more rows of data.
    My only option is to click ok, which I do, then am bnack at using the address book for my data source.
    What is wrong -- anybody?

    Three most common errors:
    . Field names not in the Header row (not just the top row, but the top row being a Header row).
    . Table not being the first listed table for the Sheet in the Sheets Pane. It doesn't matter where the Table is on the Sheet, but if it's not the only Table on that sheet, it must be the First Table in the list for that sheet. You can drag the name to the top of the list.
    . And finally, not Saving the Numbers file before Merging in Pages.

    Does anyone know any BAPI or function module that allows the creation of a billing document with reference to a sales order or to a delivery.
    Maybe the BAPI_BILLINGDOC_CREATEFROMDATA may be used to create a billing document with reference to a sales document, but i'm looking for a solution where I only need to indicate the number of the reference sales order or the reference delivery and maybe some few data more without the need of transfer all the items and conditions information.

    To create a billing document based on a delivery use BAPI_BILLINGDOC_CREATEMULTIPLE. In table BILLINGDATAIN insert one line with the following data:
    REF_DOC = Delivery number
    REF_DOC_CA = 'J'
    If it runs fine, table SUCCESS will bring back useful data, like BILL_DOC (Billing document number).

    Open a new document big enough for your image. Then additional open your ice and flower image as well. Copy each and paste it into your blank document. They will be placed on their own separate layers.
    Make sure in your layers panel. (Bottom right) the ice is above the flower, by dragging it in place. In that same layers panel click the ice layer to select in and find the opacity meter above. Drag to the left until you get the effect you desire.

    What is the error you receive? Please specify with message number.
    On MIGO, you need to change the default value mvmt type value to 103 before you enter the PO number to be able to do 103.
    Once this defualt value is set, you can enter the PO and item number in the document number fields and proceed with 103.
    But you cannot change the mvmt type for already entered items from 101-103 or vice versa.
    I think the 101-103 and 103-101 mvmt type conversion message is standard error message

    In trying to learn how Pages operates, I have been looking at creating a Merge document using my Contacts Book. So far so good.
    I am trying to get a list of names and addresses so that a round robin can be created, but in selecting the necessary fields to use I find they are all in the American terminology! When creating an input into Contacts, it is showing the UK method, i.e County and Post Code etc. but not when I go to Inspector and try and insert the field. Is there a way of changing the standard field name in the drop down menu?

    It would appear that that hasn't been customised.
    Apple apparently doesn't have enough cash in its kitty to do a lot of this basic stuff.
    e.g. Apple has a so called "Australian" dictionary in Pages, that doesn't recognise Anzac amongst a host of Australian words. Why? Because it is nothing but the British dictionary relabelled.
    Microsoft on the other hand…
    If you want to ensure it looks right in Pages you can use the word Postcode in the text, select it:
    Inspector > Link > Merge > Choose > Contacts Book > click on the + > call it Postcode > Link it to Work/Home ZIP

    These are the problems.
    1.      The background is not  transparent.
    2.      Page dimensions have to be increased at least an inch in width and length so that the full page can show
    3.      The command and+   will not only increases the document's  screen size. It increases the page margins.

    PDF was never designed to support the Flash page curl effect (it didn't exist back then). Anything you try (and you've tried the standard hack) will look like a hack. Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it for an effect that's much overused.

    Open standards WordprocessingML format is supports by Microsoft word. It is typical xml format of designing word document. But creating document with TOC,tables, different styles of paragraphs are complex. Using this format, i have created simple docs. I never tried with complex formats like TOC. The generating File should be in ".doc or .docx" format only.

    I found the answer in the Interapplication Communication API Reference:
    Dim SetPageMode as Boolean = PDDoc.SetPageMode(nPageMode),
    where nPageMode has the possible values:
    0: leave the view mode as is
    1: display without bookmarks or thumbnails
    2: display using thumbnails
    3: display using bookmarks

  • Create a billing document with no accounting document

    We have a requirement to create a billing document with no acocunting document. After this billing document is created, the status on all preceeding documents- SO,Delivery and Billing -should be status closed.
    It should perform somewhat like the Proforma invoice. We cannot use a proforma invoice setting for SD document category or Trasaction group for reporting purposes.
    So we configured a billing type and removed the account determination procedure. Now we are able to create a billing document, there is no accounting document, the preceeding documents are status closed. However the billing document itself has an account determination error and is status B-Posting Document not created (account Determination error).
    Is there a way I can get rid of this error message and have a status of Cor D(C-Posting document has been created, D-billing document is not relevant for accounting)

    Hi,
    I would recommend you go to OBA7 --> Create a new FI Doc Type (i.e. XY) --> In the Accounts types Allowed, remove "Customer" check box (here you can control whethere you want posting to be permitted for Vendor, Customer, Assets, Material or G/L Account to suit your requirement) --> Save it.
    Now, go to VOFA --> Go to your given Billing Type --> In the "Document Type" field, replace the value with "XY" created earlier --> Save it.
    Perform your transaction again up to Billing. No Accounting doc would be created where the posting has been disabled in your FI Doc Type earlier (depending on your requirement).

  • Page numbering every second page

    Hi guys,
    ok I have a 200 page booklet I'm doing, very simple - a notes page on the left hand side and then the contacts details on the right. But in the top right corner I need a page number that correlates with the contact. Problem is if I make page numbers it'll have them as 24, 26, 28 etc when that's not what I want.
    Is there a way to skip a page and just page number every second page?

    It isn't entirely clear, but are we dealing with one person's contact info per page, or many? Sounds like 1.
    If it is, as I mentioned in your other thread, you could set this up as a Data Merge project. Create a two-page template spread, Add whatever you need for the notes page to the left page, and put all of your data fields on the right. You can include a number as one of the fields and palce it anywhere you want. This will only work with one record per page, though.
    If you'd rather number pages after the fact, it's probably scriptable to do something with starting a new section every second page and assign the numbers, or you could just add a master frame to the master page and place a number list, which is pretty simple.
    None of these techniques is truly automatic in the sense of updating if things are added or deleted, or if pages are rearranged. Any numbering outside the merge whould be done as the last step.
