Create double-sided business cards

Good Day
I am designing my Business Card in PS (although I know I should be doing it in Il, but not the point here).
Now my business card has a back and front...In illustrator I would create two Artboards. What would I do in Photoshop? Do I extend the canvas to double the size? Or do I create a seperate file for the backside?
What is the correct way from a printing perspective?
Thank you

thank you for your feedback, appreciate. With regard to the bleed, doe the bleed extend beyond the standard dimensions of the card ie 3.5 x 2 inch , so with the bleed it would be: 3.9375 x 2.25 (1/8 bleed width) ?

  • Illustrator CS3 - Double sided Business Card in two pages PDF

    Hi,
How do you create a double sided business card in Illustrator CS3 and be able save on one PDF document with two pages? I know how to create a single sided business card (90 mm x 55 mm with 5mm bleed) and save in PDF without any problems. I'm now trying to create a two sided business card in the same illustrator file and be able to save as one PDF but with two pages.
I searched a bit and tried playing around with page titling but the result just isn’t working out (the size of the business card in the PDF is too small).
Any help would be really appreciated!

I downloaded CS5 trail and it resolved my issue. So much more easier to create a two sided business cards and save in PDF.

  • Designing a Double-Sided business card in InDesign

    Hi All
I would like to design a double-sided business card using InDesign and I have just downloaded the app. I went to create a new document but there is no option for "US business card" size as it states in the tutorial. Is this because I am using the UK Cloud? If so, how do I get around this?
Please advise how I go about designing my card.
    Many thanks

But this is what I mean.... the option isn't there.
This is what I can see:

  • PIXMA MG6320 Double Sided Business Cards Not Printing Correctly

I just set up and used the PIXMA MG6320 for the first time.  Prints regular prints fine but I tried to use inkjet double sided business cards and something when very wrong.  The paper seems the same on both sides.  The brand is Avery.  Side one prints great but side two prints as if there is a plastic finish on the paper.  I left the ink to dry over night and it never did.  Also, the image is terrible when it does print.  As if its on a slippy surface but the paper seems the same flat finsih on both sides.  Its not about double sided printing becasue when I sent side 2 through first, it did the same thing.

First of all double sided printing set-up from Illustrator is something that is very specific to the printer you are using, so you'd need to refer to your printer's user documentation to review the correct settings. Having said that the steps you take are very similar for all printers.
Here are some steps that might be of help:
The easiest way to this is probably to place the front and back of the business cards on two separate artboards, for example Artboard 1 for the front of the cards and Artboard 2 for the back of the cards. Use the Artboards panel (Window > Artobards) add a second artboard of you've not yet got front and back on separate sheets.
In the File > Print dialog box, in the General section ensure that 'All' Artboards are selected or define the Artboards Range to print if you have more than two artboards in your Illustrator file.
You might also want to enable Trim Marks (Marks and Bleed section) so you can easily trim the cards after printing.
You can access your printer specific settings, such as duplex or double sided printing by clicking 'Setup...' at the bottom of the Print dialog box in Illustrator.
Mostly you'll find an option you can enable called 'Double Sided'  or 'Two Sided'.
There will also be a second option for either Long Edge or Short Edge binding. For a portrait artboard you'd select Long-edge, for a landscape artboard you'd select Short Edge.
Once you've set the Setup specific to your printer click OK and you'll return to the Illustrator Print dialog box, from where you can now print.
You might need to tweak the position of your 'back' a little if your printer doesn't print perfectly registered.

  • Double side business card crop marks

    Hi
I am working on double sided business cards. I am using illustrator cs4.  But the crop marks on one side dont align with the other. I am also using a
office jet pro 8600 with duplex printing. I called HP but they said it has nothing to with the printer. They said it is the software that I am using.

    Hi,
May we have a screenshot of your canvases? How you set up your print depends largely on how you are approaching the layout of the project. How significant is misalignment? Are we talking about 1/16th of an inch or whole inches?
There are multiple factors to be addressed when printing couble sided documents. Firstly, you need to be sure that your files are set up so that the front and back are aligned within the document itself. I'm assuming that you are using canvases that are the dimensions of the card. In the print dialog you should also be making sure that the file is set up to print the document in the absolute center.
Secondly, your printer has to be aligned properly. This is another beast entirely, and you will need to consult your printer documentation to figure out how to adjust this.
I know this is kind of a non-answer, but I hope it gets you on the right track. Good luck!

  • How to share a double sided greeting card

i created a double sided greeting card (5x7) portrait and selected email attachment under share tab. The result was two separate files. First file was the front of the card and second file was the inside of the card. Not resembling a card. Is there any way to share a card and have it resemble the actions of a real card. (ie: front of card shows first then by clicking next or open or ?? u see the inside of the card?)

The card templates are really designed for printing but you could try saving as a PDF file and then attching that to an email.

  • Printing 2 sided business cards

purchased C4780 specifically to print biz cards-using Avery cards.  there are 2 sides to the card, but am printing 1 side at a time.,but the printer does not start at the same spot-does not matter which side I do first--does not matter if I select borderless or not..1 side will always start at the edge of the sheet-so most of the info ends up mis-aligned to the other side--have gone thru entire list of "feed" fixes/solutions-spent hrs online with support--anyone got an idea?

  • Create double sided PDF from Excel Worksheet

    Hello,
Under Vista with Excel and Acrobat 7 pro.
I have to send a PDF file to the printer but they want the job to be double-sided. From Excel, when converting to PDF, I get a one sided document.
Is there a way to create a double-sided PDF from Excel?
    Thanks,
    L.

I see what you are talking about now. What needs to be done is to go back to the Excel file and do it there with odd and even page formating. A PDF is simply a version of what would have been printed to paper. Acrobat is not an editor in which the margins can be easily adjusted. If you have only a few pages to do, you can use the object touchup tool to select every thing on a page and move it to the right (Edit>Select All will help and use the arrow keys to move). You might be able to move the whole document to the right, but I would have to play around to do that (don't see a way).
You may also be able to do the job with JavaScript, but in any case what you are asking is not a simple task that can be done with a trivial margin adjust. There is no such margin definition in a PDF.
You might find the use of the grid helpful in moving things so that they line up where you want.

  • How to create 10-up business card design with adobe... perfectly designed business card guidelines

each side of the page has to be equal so the prints can be cut.
    2 x 3.5 cards
also if you guys have any options for printing my first business cards and cutting them myself i would be very grateful
i am very good with photoshop and generally all computer programs. if you need more details feel free to ask.
    thank you.

You can print with multiup, but the pages generally are scaled a bit and that is probably not what you want. A lot depends on how you created the business card. The classic way is to use something like WORD an create multiple copies on the screen. Avery has templates for use with their card stock. Doing this with Acrobat is not a typical workflow, but might be able to be done if you play around with the multiup printing or such, but I would not depend on it.

  • Autotype text in linked sections of a double sided card?

Hello, I'm making some double sided cards and I would like to have the title repeated on both the recto and the verso side. Is there a way to link the two "area's" and have pages autotype the text in one side as I enter it on the other side?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I just copy/pasted everything. I was creating a template for price tags. You can compare them with double sided business cards, there are 8 cards on one page. So the header/footer option wasn't really what I was looking for. Anyway, it's finished now although the possibility to link multiple textfields so you just need to type text only once, would still be handy.

  • How do I set up a file (business card) in Illustrator CS6 to print front and back?

I'm working on a double sided business card and I would like to know how to set up the file in Illustrator.
    Thanks

    CGDesigns,
There is no need to set up the Artboards on top of each other.
You may send it as is or as a two page PDF, one for each Artboard/Layer. The print shop can tell you exactly how they want it.

  • Double sided card in Indesign

    Hi,
I have a problem with creating some double sided cards in Indesign and I was hoping that someone can help me please?
I have to create double sided cards in Indesign, so each side of the card has a border and crop marks in the exact same place. Each side is also a separate pdf file.(a front pdf and a back pdf). I cannot make these as a single pdf and print because the printing is on card, which is on the bypass try of the printer.
I need to print this double sided and then chop the edges off using the crop marks as guides. I have tried printing these files - so I place the card on the bypass tray and print the front, then place the card back on the bypass tray and print the back - in the exact same place. But when I print this, one side of the card always prints to the side - meaning the crop marks are misaligned for chopping.
I'm wondeing if there is anything I need to do in Indesign rather than the printer to print so that the crop marks on the same place on either side of the card.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks very much
    pd

As Bob says, desktop printers, and even commercial copiers generally don't have the kind of precision for sheet-to-sheet and front to back registration accuracy.
Avoid borders closer than about .25 inches to the trim line unless you plan to cut each card by hand. Even the fronts won't be perfectly aligned to each other in the stack so you need to allow for some drift in the design. The further you keep anything from the edge that will lead the eye to see a mis-alignment the less likely anyone is to notice. A hard, narrow border is not a good choice for this sort of output.
Leave the border off the back completely if you can, and allow as much margin as possible to hide the shift there, too, and trim for the front side as that is presumably the most important.

  • Printing a Two sided greeting card

I am trying to design a two sided greeting card, but I do not seem to be able to find such a project as that in Photoshop.  Print shop has a double sided greeting card where you desgin the fron and back and then go to the inside of the card.  anybody have any suggestions.
    thanks

Go to File>new>blank file, and in the dialog enter the height & width of your paper stock, set resolution 240-300 px/in, and design the components for your card. You will have to place these, each on their own layer, so that they print out in the correct orientation and that the fold of the card is centered. This will require some experimentation until you get it just right. View>grid may help in the placement.
The various card printing programs, such as Print Shop, readily allow accurate two-sided printing. You can import your design from Elements to the appropriate page(s) of the template.
There are also available templates (free) from Avery. Half fold greeting card #3265, for example, is available in landscape and portrait orientation in Microsoft Word application:
