Create jpeg from still frame in imovie

Hello,
Can anyone tell me how I can create a jpeg from a frame within imovie?
Thanks so much.
Ashley

I was just trying to figure this out the other day and found that you can easily do this from QuickTime Pro. So you'd need to export a small movie from imovie that contains the frame you want to grab (or a movie you've already created), and then from QuickTime Pro, from the file menu, choose export, and then choose "movie to picture". From that menu box you can choose a range of options and file types to save your image file. I couldn't find this feature within imovie. If you don't have QT Pro, it is a $30 upgrade to the base QT Player.

After I convert video to a still frame in IMovie, how to I save the still frame in Iphoto?

You have to Import the still image into the iPhoto Library. Go to the File Menu > Import to Library... then choose the photo from the Desktop or wherever you may have saved it onto your Macintosh.

iCab indeed does allow for that

  • How to create jpegs from pdfs without pixellated results

I have been creating jpegs from high quality pdfs (typically 20-30 MB files) of maps (paper dimensions roughly 2 ft by 3 ft) with no problems until this week.  I use the export function in Adobe X Standard and select jpeg.  Did I recently get an update which changed my settings?  Now I notice that sometimes the process generates a progress bar which says it is optimizing the content for the web.  I don't remember seeing this either.  Previous conversions worked great and the jpegs could be blown up on the screen with crisp detail.  Yesterday I did the same process with a new map (I checked it for good resolution and the pdf can be zoomed way in with no loss of resolution). But the resulting jpeg pixellates very quickly when zooming in.  What gives?  It may be possible that this new map (pdf) is in layers.  I think the others were scans of the paper maps.  Does this affect the conversion?  Also noticed that the jpegs now have little lock symbols on them.  Is that related?  I don't think it is, because a map I recently converted has the lock symbol on it and is OK (as a jpeg).  I am converting the pdfs into jpegs so I can import them into Autocad.

As the helpcenter(2005 helpcenter) has missed this bit of documentation (on UserQueries) could someone please provide an example of using this object
    thanks

Here is a method for extracting a still from iMovie 09.
Are you working in iMovie and realize that certain frames in the movie would be perfect as photographs? Here is how to extract them...
*To get a still frame from an Event*, right-click on the frame and select "Add Still Frame to Project". The still will be added to the end of the current project. Right click on the still frame in the project and select "Reveal in Finder". You will see a jpeg file that is highlighted. Drag this jpeg file in the finder to the iPhoto icon on your dock.
*If you want a still from a project*, rather than an event, the process is similar, except you right-click on the frame and select "Add Freeze Frame", and it adds the freeze frame at the end of the clip rather than at the end of the project. Right-click/reveal in Finder, drag JPEG to iPhoto icon in dock.
*If you are not using iPhoto*, and just want to save to your desktop, click Reveal in Finder as above, then COPY, then PASTE to desktop.
Hint: If you do not want to clutter up your iMovie Project with stills at the end that you would have to go back and delete, then create a separate iMovie Project just for your stills, and follow the instructions for capturing stills from an Event.
Note: If you do not have a right mouse button, then control-click will work instead of right-click.

  • Creating Motion Sequence From Still Frame

I have a still frame that I want to animate using FCE, but I can't figure out how to do it. The frame is a Photoshop file of a starburst with a transparent background. Over the course of 10 seconds, I would like to slowly shrink and rotate image so it can move into position over another still frame creating the final image. How do I do this? Thanks.

    See if this helps

  • Create jpg from still

I'd like to use a still frame that I created in iMovie (4.0.1) and use it in a photo when creating my movie in iDVD (4.0.1)
Is there a way to convert a still which is a Quicktime (7.1.3), into a jpg ?
    TIA

    James,
Rather than use your still frame, try this:
Position your playhead over the frame you wish to use and select File>Save Frame As and select jpeg from the drop down menu.

  • Creating PICTURES from STILL IMAGES

I have been playing around and looking for someway to create a still picture from your movie. I have been able to create still images, but is it at all possible to just take a simple picture from one of the frames?
I am interested in using this for posting and emailing them. I also would love to be able to use the Ken Burns effect on a still image in my movie.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Thanks SD,
I am quite aware of those two methods. My question is if it possible to to the KB Effect on one of your still images.
Forexample, you are showing a video and all the sudden it pauses and zooms in on the paused frame.
My other question is if it is possible to make a still frame and then just save it as a photo. Lets say I wanted to make a movie poster for my movie. Can I use one of the frames as a simple jpeg?

The goal is when I export my movie to iDVD, I want to use still clips from my movie as the rotating images. Right now it either plays through the DVD in the rotating part or I can drag pictures from iPhoto into the slots.

  • Creating JPGs or Still Frames from DV footage

    Hi,
    Final Cut PRo 5
I'm sure this is really easy but how do I take a still shot of a single Frame of DV footage and create a JPG or PNG or TIFF - basically to use on a website?
Is there a way to get the Maximum Resolution out of the Still? So that it is as large as possible?
    Thanx!

Shift n gives you a still image to edit to a sequence. Then export. As earlier posted....
FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION. Click on QT Movie and choose STILL IMAGE. Click on OPTIONS to choose the format.
The best quality image you'll get is 720x480 at 72dpi.

  • Best practices for creating movie from still images?

I have created an architectural model in *someone else's* software, and animated a camera in *someone else's* software, and rendered that out to still images.  I rendered every 5th frame (for a total of 401 frames) in order to save time on rendering.  My goal is to create a short movie (2 minutes) of the camera flying around the building.
When I imported all of the images, I stretched the duration so that they equally fit the 2 minutes, and used the keyframe assistant to sequence the layers.  Now that I've done that, the movie is choppy (as I expected it to be, since I only rendered every 5th frame).  Does anyone have suggestions as to what effect or transition can be used to smooth the sequence out?  Or am I living in a dreamland and I need to go back and render every single frame?  Is this even the software I should be using?  I'm obviously a n00b, so any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Using After Effects CS4 (9.0.0.346) on Windows 7 64-bit

Or am I living in a dreamland and I need to go back and render every single frame?
You are. There is no effect that could automatically synthesize those missing frames even halfway realistically. Timewarp and Twixtor are only gonna make things look like a smear even with a lot of tweaking. By the time you have tweaked their settings and done all your masking and otehr corrections, your 3D render with all frames will be finished just as well and offer better quality.

  • Create destinations from source Frame

This could also apply to Word, I'd like to have a source document with "markers" that are included in the output pdf as destinations so I can refer to them
(usually to bring up a specific section of a pdf). I would think you would in Frame create a named destination, but it doesn't seem to work. Is this correct,
    or is it something else?
In the pdf target-device does not show up as a destination.

  • How do I create a photo in jpg or other photo format from a frame within iMovie11.  The suggestion I have found from earlier versions of iMovie does not create a jpg file that can be revealed in Finder. Help please.

How do I create a photo in jpg or other photo format from a frame in iMovie. The previous suggestions on here do not create a jpg file when you chose reveal in finder when using iMovie11 and OS X

First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
Here is a video I made that steps through this...

  • Saving Still Frames To Desktop

How can I save a still frame in iMovie 09 to my desktop (like in older versions) so I can edit same in Photoshop?

To get a frame from an Event, right-click on the frame and select "Add Still Frame to Project". The still will be added to the end of the project. Right click on the still frame in the project and select "Reveal in Finder". Drag this jpeg file in the finder to the iPhoto icon on your dock.
If you want a still from a project, rather than an event, the process is similar, except you right-click on the frame and select "Add Freeze Frame", and it adds the freeze frame at the end of the clip rather than at the end of the project. Right-click/reveal in Finder, drag JPEG to iPhoto icon in dock.
If you are not using iPhoto, and just want to save to your desktop, click Reveal in Finder as above, then COPY, then PASTE to desktop.
