Can we control the top level navigation in portal from a java application

Hello,
I am having a scenario where User logged in to portal and assigned with 2 roles (HOME , ISA(Java application)). When user opened a form in ISA (Java application) and tried to enter the data in form and moved to another tab (e.g. HOME) in top level navigation.
When user come back to ISA (Java application) TAB , we show the page where he left earlier. I would like to know if user click any other TAB in top level navigation (Role assigned to him) while working on a page in ISA(Java application) is there any way we can catch that event before he leaves from ISA (Java application JSP page) to other TAB?
How can we control the top level navigation events in the portal from a java application .Since Top level navigation is seperate par file.

Dear Rajesh,
Top Level and detailed navigation values comes with iteration in the respective par file.
Please check the par file and based on the value (i.e tab name) selected, you can write your code.

Sending URL's to outllook which directly links to th workitem of the UWL

My project which was developed on ASP with oracle is now being re-designed into enterprise portals and SAP R/3 4.6c. Here the scenario is when a user creates or changes a pricing condition on the PORTAL .it should trigger a workflow in SAP r/3 which goes through a loop of approval process and finally gets approved or rejected.
Here the notifications are sent to the approvers outlook where the outlook subject should contain two links, the first should link to the portal UWL and the second should link to the respective WORKITEM in the UWL.
My questions are
1)     How an event on the portal side does trigger a workflow at the backend?
            Do we need to explicitly raise the event in the BAPI for create/change to trigger workflow using SWE_EVENT_CREATE or is there any alternative?
2)     How to send a notification to the outlook with URLs which directly points to UWL and respective work item in the portal UWL?
                 I gone through the EXTENDED NOTIFICATIONS FOR SAP Business WORKFLOW help file but I didnt a clear picture of it.
                         It is all with the BSPs in the help file?
3)     Its only configuration that we do in the portal to get all the work items from SAP inbox or Do we need to do any extra coding to get all the work items into the UWL ?
Please do the need full .Basically I am new to WEBFLOW. So, if possible spare some time and send me the flow and the solutions in detail.

To make RSWUWFML2 work at least you have to do:
1. Set up SAP Gatway to connect to Outlook (SCOT) as type INT
2. There are some settings additional that basis will have to carry out - CHECK OSS for that
3. Ensure all the users have home email address
4. In SO16 Tab MailSySgRP choose send email to user's home address
5. Then in SAP schedule report RSWUWFML2 (frequency should be ideally
every 10 min -depends on the volume of emails)
You will find further information in note: 733681
If the requirement for direct acces to the workitem in the UWL is very important you could do the following:
Make a copy of the report ie. ZRSWUWFMS2 and make the appropriate changes in the code and schedule that instead. This is not recomendable, since all changes made to the report by SAP will be lost to you.

Is it Possible to delete workitems in the UWL Inbox?

Hi All,
Can we delete workitems in the UWL inbox?
Please let me know.. we have two types of workitems ., one comes from workflows and another from Guided Procedures.
i have added delete action in the UWL XML file and tried deleting the workitems but i got the message..
"Unable to perform the request. Try again and if the problem persists, inform your system administrator"
and also this action button is visible only for Guided procedure workitems.
Please help me..
is it possible to delete the workitems in the UWL inbox? then how? is there any documents?
if it is not possible then why they have provided "Delete" action?is there any supporting documents or SAP Notes for this..

Please run the report in r/3 to delete the workitem.RSWWWIDE.
To delete the GP items
Step 1: Select the process template.
GOTO: Guided Procedures >> Administration >>Archiving and Deleting >> Maintain Process Templates >> Process Template Settings
Click on u201CBrowseu201D
Select the Process Template
Click on "Choose"
Step 2: Specify a schedule.
Make sure the previously created Template setting is selected.
Select u201CSpecify Custom Settingsu201D
Select the appropriate intervals for removal of processes.
Step 3 Schedule a task to run daily and perform our desired deletion setting.
GOTO: Guided Procedures >> General >> Schedule Tasks >> Select u201CTask Archiving and Deleting.u201D
Click on "Create".
Mention the schedule required,
Preferably
Type: Recurrent Daily
Time : non productive hours [after midnight]

Automatically reserving a workitem in the UWL

HI. Can anyone tell me how to automatically reserve a workitem when a user clicks on the workitem in the UWL and the workitem pops up in a separate window. This does not automatically happen for us at the moment.

On-click of the UWL link ,No WebDynpro application is launching

I am having a problem while developing a multiple level application.This application will send a link to UWL in portal for the approver.When the applicaton is sending something to workflow,it is creating a link in the UWL.But when I click on this link,it showing "There are no items to display".And also when I look for the properties of the page I am getting

Hi,
Will you plz provide more input on the issue. Are you able to launch other WebDynpro application from UWL. Please chekc the XML for the UWL and try work for the tag item type and check the page value.
In the SDn you can easily find XML code for the launcher of WebDynpro Application.

A trigger is NEVER explicitly called, from any environment.
It is implicitly called when you invoke the operation that it's a trigger for.
Whether you're using Java or anything else to invoke that operation makes no difference whatsoever.

In terms of converting java applications into exe files, there are 3 schools of thought:
1) Instead of converting it to an exe, convert it to a jar file. Jar files are more portable than exe files because they can be double-clicked on any operating system. The caveat is that a Java interpreter must be installed on the target computer for the double-clicking to work.

2) Create an exe launcher that, when double-clicked, attempts to find a Java interpreter on the local computer and launches the Java application. The exe file is still double-clickable but whether your java application runs depends on whether a Java interpretor is installed on the target computer.

Running the Batch Processor from a Java application (on schedule)

Hello,
I would like to run the Batch Processor (on schedule) from a Java application -- not from the Command Prompt.
To achieve that, I suppose I would need to call a certain function contained in engine/determinations-batch.jar, using perhaps the path to the config xml as an argument.
The trouble is that the OPA developer's guide doesn't mention it (or at least I didn't find it).
Could you help me out?

This is the Java main method for the determination-batch.jar file - so the main method has the syntax:
public static void main(String[] args)
args is an array of strings matching the command line arguments described in the OPA Developer's Guide topic "Configure the Batch Processor".

Control browser properties from a java application while launching a browse

How to control the properties of a browser when it is launched from a java application?
I am using the command " Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "+url); " to launch the browser. The syntax of "exec" command is "public Process exec(String command,String[] envp) throws IOException". I would like to know whether we can give the arguments in this command to control the browser properties.
If you know any other option by which we can open a URL in a controlled browser, please share it.

Hi All,
I have found a solution to control browser parameters from Java applications.
1. Create an intermediate HTML file at runtime which contains Javascript to launch a browser. Pass the parameters like the URL and browser control parameters to the Javascript of this HTML file.
2. Open this HTML file and invoke the javascript while loading the file. Javascript will launch the required URL in a controlled browser.
3. Close the intermediate HTML file.
Limitation:
1. There will be a flickering of windows.
2. Applets will have permission issues with the above solution. For applets a better solution is JSobject. No need of an intermediate file here.

For example: in sxi_monitor i get the error for my interface NMUCustomer: "No receiver could not be found" or "Error Mapping Traformation".
I created an Object called ZNMUCUSTOMER and a Sub-Objetc called ZERROR.
what i must do to get the error I see in monitor and assign it to Sub-Object??

Running a dos command from a java application

I'm trying to execute a batch file from a java application. I tried with:

Your execution string is a bit more that I want to figure out, but here are a couple ideas:
Is the working directory of any importance? If so you'll need to set that when you do your exec()
I think I remember reading something about batch files that couldn't be kicked off via this method. Perhaps you need to execute the string "start mybatchfile.bat". Seems like you need to do something like that to get a command interpreter to run your batch file.

Manipulate Indesign cliente from a Java Application

Hello, I need to manipulate Indesign client(open/close documents, create menus, tables, set colors etc... ) but I need to do that from a Java application. Is it possible? I was searching on google about it, even in Adobe's site, but the only way I found was thought Javascript, VbScript or AppleScript.

I can control inDesign from Python or shell scripts on osx via `osascript` This is roughly how it works.
My 'master' program runs shell command `osascript -e "tell Indesign blahblah end tell" /path/to/temporary.jsx`
`osascript` tells Indesign to execute "/path/to/temporary.jsx" as javascript
If all goes well, the value of last expression in .jsx is returned by `osascript` (serialised JSON works great for this)
Sorry I'm vague on real life code, but this is my home machine so it's not in my reach.
I realise it's an ugly hack. Main cons follow:
quotes have to be escaped couple of times so the result is messy and prone to errors (luckily it's one-off code that sits hidden behind main interface)
debugging this chain is nightmare (especially with my nigh-zero knowledge of applescript)
so far it's mac only (I suspect same thing can be achieved on Windows machine with VBS)
one cannot avoid writing lots of temporary files to the system. (luckily for me, it's only deployed on machines under my control, so the temp files are written to /tmp which is mounted on ramdisk)
The only pro I can think of is that it works. Whole comlexicity is wrapped in one python module, which I only see when squashing the bugs.
