Creating custom interface panels in LabVIEW for use in VBAI.

Greetings everyone,
I hope that someone can give me some insight with the following problem. I have on my bench a 1742 Smart Camera and a computer loaded with VBAI 3.6 and LabVIEW 8.6 Pro (all the latest and greatest stuff). Up to this point, everything was going along smoothly until I attempted to use my own custom inspection interface panel in VBAI.
I first created a simple test panel in LabVIEW with a few controls/indicators and saved it in version 8.5 (as required by VBAI 3.6). But when I tried to select this panel in the Configure Inspection Interface dialog in VBAI, I get the message "There is no VI at the path you specified" (even though the VI is clearly there). Perplexed, I visited this website and found others that have run into a similar problems, but apparently no solutions were found.
Looking into this further, I did the following:
1) I downloaded the image_with_switch_control.vi from here. NOTE: File size is 51,732 bytes.
2) I opened VBAI, verified that I could select this VI in VBAI's Configure Inspection Interface panel with no problems, then closed VBAI.
3) I opened this "known good" VI in LabView 8.6, verified that it was saved in LabView 8.5, and then saved it to LabVIEW 8.5 using "Save for Previous Version...". NOTE: File size is 50,500 bytes.
4) I tried to load this new/same Ver 8.5 VI in VBAI's Configure Inspection Interface panel again and got the message "There is no VI at the path you specified".
Now if I open a known good Ver 8.5 VI in LabVIEW 8.6, make no changes, and save the very same VI back in Ver 8.5, I should have no issues choosing it as an interface panel in VBAI. But this is not the case. Am I missing something or is there is a wrench in the works somewhere?
I was really expecting to have the ability to create my own custom interface between the computer and camera (as cited in the documentation), so if anyone can point out a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.

In the Breakpoint forum is an ongoing thread "Monthly Bugs" that lists bugs posted in the forum. It is maintained by the forum users for the forum users.
I have already submitted yours. Its no garantee that it is a bug or that it is spotted by NI. You could always contact your local NI application engineers and have them report it as a bug, if they think it is you will receive a CAR ID.
If so please post it as a reply on your forum post, so people that see this can look at the solved issues in the next LV release to see this particular bug has been solved.

I am currently working on a projects that needs to have a custom flash skin player.
I have tried copying and editing excisting skins, but when I export the swf and fla into the crrect folders, I am able to select it from the skin list- however it doesn;t show in the player.
Am I exporting/publishing this in the correct way and to the right folders?
If anyone can give me a tip of how to achieve this that would be great, or a link to somewhere that may have the infor I'd be happy,

Using SDK to create custom XMP panel in Bridge CS4

Using the SDK materials how exactly does one go about creating their own custom XMP panel for Bridge CS4?
I feel like I'm getting close- I was able to copy the BasicControlSamplePanel folder from SDK to my local C drive @
C:\Documents and Settings\tony\Application Data\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\2.0\panels
I figure once that file is in the right place I can simply modify it to get custom fields
Now when I did this I noticed in Bridge when rightclicked on an image and clicked file info- the BasicControlSamplePanel tab was visible but upon clicking on BasicControlSamplePanel tab there was nothing in this dialogue box. Tried restarting computer- and still nothing- seems like it is the correct folder what do I need to do to get the properties to show up

Is there any alternatives to Configurator for creating custom Photoshop panels?

I've been using Configurator for quite some time now in order to improve my workflow; having custom panels is huge to me.
So I was surprised that Adobe decided to stop supporting flash panels, starting with version CC 2014. I want to update Photoshop to CC 2014 but am unable to do so due to my custom panels (which DOES NOT work in said version!!): I would be handicapping myself by upgrading the software.
I've looked around for alternatives, but so far I haven't found any decent replacement to Configurator for creating HTML5-based panels. I know about PsTools but it appears to be limited to Tools only, and I need to both create a custom toolbar as well as custom panels for my most used filters and selection -actions. Also I know there's an API for creating HTML5 panels now, but I'm a 3D Artist - not a C++ programmer.
So what exactly are the alternative here?

I would like to create a panel displaying all the "text variables" and their actual values and be able to edit them right there.

Well i was actually asking myself the very question : do i really need a panel ?
So far i found a script thhat pretty much does what i need :
run the script opens a window
When all the fields are populated, hit continue and the custom text variables are updated with the freshly entered information
Now i need to tweak this code to suit my variables and find a way to "get" the current values instead of the defaults ones populating the form.
So i guess i can always execute the script to update, correct and update the variable and anytime, saving me the trouble of going about creating a plugin (this scared me more that anything )
I'll make sure it runs and see whats up. Any chance i can ask you later for support if i hit a rock?

Hi All,
I have a requirement to create a custom job application form which will be filled and submitted by anonymous users. I have a an option to create custom user control web part but I wanted to
create it using custom list form using SharePoint designer. My requirement is below
Date of birth (user age should be above 22yrs )
Email Validation
Phone validation
Resume attachment (should attach only word documents or PDF)
Qualification (If other is selected then show textbox else hide)
Can above validations be done using SharePoint designer (JavaScript or validation controls)? Or do I have to create custom control web part?

I think jquery/javascript can be used to put validations on those fields. Fortunately some of validation can be done via sharepoint itself like: email, phone, age. For Attachment and Qualification fields use jquery/JS.

Creating custom Metadata panels in Bridge CS3

I want to create a custom panel that allows me to enter 14+ pieces of information about an image that are not contained within the existing metadata panels.
I can create a custonm panel in photoshop that is seen under 'File info' but I cannot see this information against a file in the metadata in Bridge.
In the Bridge metadata panels you have individual panels such as GPS, IPTC Core, History, etc. Can I create my own custom panel to add to this list?
If so how is it done? Where are the custom panel files stored?

Create a DLL with asynchronous calls in LabVIEW for use in another environment.

I need to create a DLL in LabVIEW that is going to be used from inside a Delphi environment.
The thing that confuses me is that I don't know how to create asynchronous functions.
Let me further explain.
I want to have an "Init" function.
This function starts a continuous dataacquisition process. The dataacquisition process continuously samples data at a rate of 1Msamples/sec. (in blocks of 4096 samples each time)
I want to have an "Abort" function.
This function stops the continuous dataacquisition process.
The third function I need is a "MeasureAndAnalyse" function.
If this function is called, the following block of 4096 samples is processed (FFT, ...) to retrieve the valid data.
The fourth function can be used to check if the MeasurementAndAnalyse function is ready and return the actual result if this function is ready.
What I don't know is how I can do all of this asynchronously.
In my opinion the LabVIEW vi's I make are all synchronous.
How to do this asynchronously???
Does anybody know of an example of a similar thing?

CME not creating custom SEP MacAddress .cnf.xml files, using XMLDefault.cnf.xml for phones

Hello, I have CME 8.6 installed on two 2851s and before going into production, I am testing a few phones.
One of my 2851's is creating cnf.xml files for each phone using SEP<Mac address>.cnf.xml and the other one will not and the phones keep booting up with XMLDefault.cnf.xml.
I've looked at both configurations and I can't see what the difference is. Other than not being able to create the SEP<MacAddress>.cnf.xml files, the phones appear to be loading up fine.
One difference I see is the "its" directory is located on system: on the one that creates the cnf files, and the "its" directory is located in flash on the one that doesn't, although I don't know how that matters.

Hello, and thanks for the good advice. I did try and added the cnf perphone command and ran no create cnf-files and then create cnf-files, but unfortunately its still not making them.
Also, from the other few CME installations I've seen, all of the information is in flash, but for some reason when I xtracted the tar for this CME, it's showing up in system: ? Could that be a problem? Here is what I see:

Creating dll from Labview for use in VB

In this document:
Accessing LabVIEW 6.0 Strings from Microsoft Visual Basic
It mentions you need to input a length for your string inputs. When I create my dll no len is available for string parameters only Arrays. Is this a typo?
Also, In my LV code I have a path input. Can VB work with this? I have already converted my LV code to accept path as string...just wondering if I really have to do that.

Only string outputs (indicators) that are wired on the connector pane will show the length parameter selection when you try to build the dll.
I don't think VB accepts paths, so you should convert the path to string in LabVIEW before building the dll.

No need to create a New ID...

Trying to create new pencils in Adobe Brush for use in Adobe Sketch

I'm really impressed with Adobe brush. I figured I would create some new pencil thicknesses for Adobe sketch. They've come out ok but only really work with long straightish lines. If I try and do smaller curved lines I have a couple of issues. Sometimes the lines just don't come out at all or they're super faint. Other times the line starts off where I want but sort of 'corrects' itself to a different line as I draw.
I've tried changing brush settings but not really seeing much difference. Do you have any tips on sorting this out? A tutorial showing how to make pencil/crayon type brushes would be amazing

Try to make the spacing smaller.
I find smaller sized brushes make for better resulting curves in Sketch.

Creating a dark shadow in photoshop for use in indesign file...

In my photshop file is a cut out image of a chess piece on a transparent background.
I want to create a shadow so it looks like the chess piece is casting a shadow so that I can open and use it in my indesign document on a background of any colour.
Whats the common technique to achieve this? Do I just paint the shadow using a black brush at a low opacity?

Yes you can actually do that.
You can make a selection of the chess piece and fill that with black or a dark gray and lower the opacity and use the transform tool to distort the
filled selection to represent a cast shadow.Or if you understand how to use the perspective grids in Vanishing point you can create a grid to the perspective you wish the cast to be and drop the shadow on the grid.

Create custom data object in BAM for a BPM project

I'm working with 11g (11.1.1.3)
I have created (via JDEV) a simple BPM process and I have inserted 3 business measurement
I have set ( as indicated in oracle documentation and in "Getting started") in BPM project :
project preference --> data target :
- enable BAM cheked
- BAM adapter JNDI name : eis/bam/soap
- in BATCH no cheked
- data object path : /Samples/Monitor Express
I have defined new data object in BAM --> Architect
I have renamed the default data object template in BI_DEFAULT_MyProject_MyProcess (is BI_DEFAULT_businessIndicator_businessIndicator)
I have added in layout my measurement; I have inserted in the bottom METRIC_myBI1, METRIC_myBI2, METRIC_myBI3 ( are METRIC_Segnalazione METRIC_nSegnalazioni METRIC_misura) of the same type indicated in BPM process
I have create few istance of the process, but :
- in the BI_DEFAULT_MyProject_MyProcess content there isn't anything
- in the default data objects ( COUNTER, INTERVAL, COMPONENT) I find the data of my process
please help me!!
