I have a time capsule on an existing wireless network using an orange livebox, this only has two Ethernet ports and others are using those ports. I was wondering how/if it's possible to use my time capsule which is sat next to my xbox360 to provide ethernet internet for it, even though the time capsule is connected via wireless? so extending the wireless network but not connecting to the orange livebox via ethernet. i hope thats clear, thanks.

could connect an express by ethernet to the TC then set that express to create its own wireless network. Place that express in bridge mode though.

How to restrict from creating the Network for 1st & 2nd level WBS

In our project structure we have up to 5 levels of WBS, In some cases we have creates 3 level also . Now we want to restrict creates Network for first two level WBS , actually we want to restrict user to Create PR for those WBS so if we restrict them from creation of Network for 1st & 2nd level then they not able to create PR for same .

Hi Virendra,
I can suggest you other way round solution.
If you are sure that those two WBS will not take any actual or commitment cost, then its better to NOT to mark those WBS elements as Account Assignment Element. I mean, if you do not set the indicator of Acct. Assignment Element (Untick Acct Assignment Element) on those WBS, then user will not be able to create Networks on those WBS Elements. Try this on your development or quality client and let me know if it works.
If it works, then you just need to disabled the Acct. Assignment Element indicator for those two WBS element and you can achieve that through substitution and field selection of WBS as well.
OR
Just look at OPSG settings at tab component. Just look if that can solve your purpose because your requirement is to stop PR from those WBS element. (I am just wondering if you can stop user from creating/change material components from those WBS-Networks)
OR
Go for User Status and set it to on those WBS Elements. Object Types will be Networks and Network Header.
OR
Try to achieve a validation or substitution where in you can mark Res./Pur. Req as 1 (Never) only for those two WBS elements. In this way user cannot create PR on those two WBS elements.

Help Needed Created Standalone Network for iTunes DJ

I use my MBP to manage backing tracks for a band. I would like to use iTunes DJ for requests from the audience via wireless connection via *iPhone/iPod Touch Remote app*. I would use this option in conjunction with a printed song list and small request cards (for those who don't have iPhones).
I can't connect to an existing network as most venues do not have wireless. I would like to set up my MBP as a wireless base station that can be accessed via an iPhone/iPod Remote app. Besides, I would prefer to have a network that echo's the band's name.
I know I have to use the "*Create computer-to-computer Networks*", but I am unsure of what settings I need to get the network working.
I will use Locations to quickly activate the MBP as the base station.
Any help or suggestion setting up my MBP as a wireless base station would be greatly appreciated.

A switch is just like a hub, except that instead of always sending packets to your entire network, it only sends them where they need to go. The benefits grow with the size and speed of your network. Switches used to be much more expensive than hubs but not any more. Normally I'd recommend almost any Linksys device, but in this case dlink seems to have a better one:

Again, I don't think your dlink hub is responsible for this dramatic bottleneck though.

Creating a network for my macs

I am a bit lost here so please bear with me.
I think it should be a simple task but cannot seem to get my macs to talk to each other over an internet connection.
Can someone please help me set up whatever I need to get this done, or point me in the direction of the information that will help.
I tried going into the network settings via the system preferences but don't have clue what to do from there.
I have a g5 dually, imac and a macbook. I just want to be able to share the desktop with each one.

'finder > go > network > "other mac name"' does not appear in Tiger, which is what you say you have in your signature: is this Leopard (I don't have Leopard so I can't check).
Anyway, I'm going to try to walk you right through the process, even though you may have already done at least some of this. If some or all of your machines are Leopard I will hope that it comes out much the same.
1. Open System Preferfences>Sharing (let's call this machine 'computer 1').
2. Give the computer a name in the field at the top.
3. In the list on the left, click the checkbox for 'File sharing' (or 'Personal file sharing').
4. If there is a list of 'Shared Folders' (Leopard) you should see the Public Folder listed. (It's possible to share any folder by dragging it into the list).
5. Click the 'Start' button (Tiger); in Leopard check the File Sharing: on radio button is on.
6. You must repeat this process (1-6) with every other computer on the network.
7. Now in the Finder menubar, choose Go then 'Connect to Server'.
8. In the Sharing pane of the machine you want to connect to ('computer 2') you will see, below the computer name the message 'Other computers on your local subnet can connect to your computer at computername.local'. Make a note of this.
9. In the 'Connect to server' window of the 'computer 1', in the top field (Server address) type
afp://computername.local (from computer 2) and hit the 'Connect' button.
10. The icon for computer 2 should mount on the desktop. If you have an account on this computer you can log into it. You cannot access other people's accounts except for the Public Folder, the Drop Box and any folders they have designated as shared.
11. Make an alias of the icon for computer 2 and put it somewhere convenient. Now you can double-click it to make connection easy in future.
12. You can eject computer 2 like any disk: drag to the trash or highlight and command-e.
There are other methods of connecting but I felt this one was most likely to produce results. Repeat the process for any other computers, and then on each of the other computers you can do the same thing.

Should I create a separate network for iOS devices?

My family and I are leaving the Windows platform and going Mac/Apple. Here's what we have:
3 iPhones, 2 iPads, new iMac (coming from Santa for the kids), new MacBook Pro 15.4 with retina, Roku 3, and possibly thinking of trying Apple TV (to compare to the Roku).
I have wireless internet through ATT U-verse and their 2Wire router. I am getting the Airport Time Capsule 2TB today. My question is...should I setup the airport time capsule as a separate wifi network for all my iOS devices, or should I just extend the current 2WIRE ATT U-verse wireless network? I think the easiest thing to do would be setup the Airport TC in bridge mode to extend the network. But I recall reading a blog post where someone set up a separate network on the Airport TC for all his apple products. This sounded like a great idea because from what I understand, the iOS devices can take advantage of the Airport TC offering a better speed. Of course, I can't find the article anywhere (Murphy's Law). My thought is to keep my work laptop (windows) and the Roku 3 on the 2Wire network and the iOS devices on a separate network.
I'm new to apple products (except the phone haha) so what does the community recommend?

Would the best solution be to extend my current by network running a cable from the LAN port of the uverse router to the WAN port of the airport time capsule? This would create another wireless AP, correct? I simply do what you said...use the same wireless name (SSID), security protocol, and password of the uverse router on the airport time capsule and I'm all set. But I think the airport utility has an option to "Add to an existing network." Is this the setup I should choose? I believe you have reference this kb article in another discussion post. This is the way I would do it.. but there is no right and wrong here.. just options with different uses..
The cable backbone is ideal.
You are creating another AP.. yes.. and that is why it works.. extend by wireless is slow. You are using wireless in one hop connections.
Everything else is running over fast ethernet or gigabit hopefully.
I am not sure if the add to existing network will work correctly.. if you have the TC plugged in by ethernet it should.. but manual setup of this is trivial.
Bridge the TC as per my previous post.. setup wireless exactly as normal but use same ssid and security setup.. simple to the point of trivial.
Roaming I must add is perfect in theory.. in practice stuff doesn't always swap "towers" the way you idealize.. it stays stuck to the poorer signal when a better one is right next to it.
That is the nature of wifi. A voodoo technology.. 80% black arts. and 50% science.. (in voodoo it has poor maths).

How do I create Local Network Home Folders for Users from an Active Directory binding?

My situation is this... I run an iMac lab at my school. I have a server set up to manage the network user accounts in the lab. Currently, I can sucessfully create Local Network Users and log in to them from any of the iMacs. My school has an Active Directory set up for all the students on campus. What I'd like to be able to do is configure the server to allow the students to use their user names and passwords from their school accounts to log in to the iMacs and have it automatically build a network user folder on the server for them to use during the lab.
So far, I have been able to configure access for the Active Directory accounts to use the services on the server, mainly File Sharing, but I cannot figure out how to allow them to log into a user account on the client's machines using their same Active Directory credentials. I have even attempted to allow the user accounts to create mobile accounts, but that's not working out either. Entering indivual network user accounts into the server for every student every semester will be a nightmare. I'm sure there's a way to do it automatically using the exisitng Active Directory structure.
The live server is running 10.8.5 Server still, but I've also got a clone running OS X Server in case it matters. Please help!

ok reinstalled everything dns seems to be working have done sudo changeip -checkhostname and it says that both names match but then i started open directory and can't seem to get Kerberos started, i've tried changing it to stand alone then back again but it does nothing. I'm wondering why this would happen? i've tried adding a kerberos record but it doesn't do it just does nothing so i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I wondered if it might be a problem with the two network cards and dns as on ethernet one it is getting the dns name xserve.xxxx.ac.uk (which matches what the college server wants to call us) but on ethernet 2 gets xserve-2.local because it tells me that it already exists on ethernet one and renames it to this. I need to set up NAT so have ethernet coming in on port one and out again on port two. I wonder if my dns is backwards as its got the 192. address the NAT uses but its linked to the ethernet port one dns maybe this is the problem. would this cause open directory not to start kerberos?

Need to Create a Check for Plant in WBS & Plant in Network

Dear Guru's,
While creating Project (CJ01) my users are creating in a Plant, and while creating network for the same project/WBS, they are using different Plant Code.
Since my Profit center is related to the plant in CJ01,
and because of wrong Plant in network, all my PR/ PO is going in a different Profit center, which is creating a huge problem while auditing.
I need to Create a Check for Plant in WBS & Plant in Network...!!
Kindly suggest me the ways to do it and how to do it...

The Check you are trying to create between Plant defined at Project def and network level that should be same can be achieved through validation at the network level by using a user exit at network level.
                While creating the network you can change the plant value not equal to the value at proj def/network profile may be one of the reason is since the network type is defined for more than one plant (OPUV).
                While creating validations at network level we do not have the option of setting the prerequisite/check using WBS or Proj def fields (i.e. PROJ-, PRPS- fields)    so we need to create a user exit at the network level.
I am not sure but logically u can have a user exit for both prerequisite and check steps of the validation.
You need to create the user exit in program ZGGBR000.
Please take help from your Abaper for the same.

No, not unless it is simply a network connection.
How is your IPTV being provided.. if it is using a separate vlan or separate vpi/vci in the adsl connection. Who is your ISP?
Is the TP-Link ADSL?
Is the IPTV using a separate voice channel on adsl?
Or a different vlan.
Sorry but it is something where a definite answer is not possible unless you provide all the details.
The setups are unique to each ISP around the world..

I'll create a long text for a network activity, but I found no BAPI for that.
When I create long text for an order activity I use the BAPI BAPI_ALM_ORDER_MAINTAIN. There it is possible to specifiy the long text lines.
In the BAPI BAPI_NETWORK_MAINTAIN there ist no table for specifying long text.
Did anyone know how to create a long text for an network activity?

I'll tried this too. My problem was, if I add long text to a existing network activity, everything works well. But in my programm I create a new network plan with one network activity (0010). After commit I become the correct network plan number. Then I try to add long text to the network activity. I get correct return codes but if I look in the transcation CJ20N I could not see some text. If I use the READ_TEXT function with the key I insert the text, I see the text, but not with the transaction CJ20N.
I compared the key I used in my program with the key if I insert text with transaction CJ20N. I could'nt found some differences.

you can do the following
1. -create a quick report {Reports > Inventory > User Tracking > Quick Report}
2.export the last report which I suggested and filter the MAC address you are interested in
3. you can create a Custom report {Reports > Report Designer > User Tracking > Custom Reports } as per your need.

How to create a PR for BOM from a Project (WBS, Network or Activity) ?

Project Structure:
Project Defination
            1 level WBS
                       2 level WBS
                             Network (Supply of Material for Sub station)
                                            Activity (Procurement of materials) Internal
                                                       Material Component (BOM) Main Item
                                                                      Component 1
                                                                      Component 2
                                                                      Component 3..................
Now i want to directly create a PR for this BOM and its components as well and using this PR i want to create a PO and procure the materials against the project.
Can any one help me in this regard.

Thanks for your reply.
I have maintained in Material master MRP views and is also relevant for MRP.
Also at the time of entering the BOM main materail, i am entering the item categery as L and exploding the BOM by going through the path:
Go to Activty materail components, select the BOM main materail, now in the menu goto EDIT --> Component ---> Explode BOM.
The component materails are getting exploded under the BOM main material, but the item categery of the main item is changing from L to T (Text item) and the PR's are created for all the component items individually after i save the project.

How can Mac Pro (late 2013) create a WiFi network for Mac Books to connect to internet?

I am moving my Mac-Pro (late 2013) to a garden office. I have an ethernet cable to connect it to the house network. I also have a Mac Book Air which will only connect to a network by WiFi. I can use this Mac-Pro to create a WiFi network and the MacBook can talk to the Mac Pro over this WiFi network. But the Mac Book does not see the local network let alone the Internet, both of which are seen on the Mac Pro.
Is there a way that I can connect the created WiFi network to one of the two Ethernet cards in the Mac Pro?

I have half cracked it.
For some reason the first step it to turn internet sharing off.
Then internet sharing can be configured and the wireless network set up and given a password.
Then, and then only, turn internet sharing back on and turn WiFi ON. All this is on the Mac-Pro (late 2013).
Now the Mac Air sees the new network and can log on and connect to the WAN internet locations, at least via Safari.
BUT if I use Finder on the Air, it will connect to the Mac Pro but it will not display what is on its disc. Though I can do screen sharing. Odd.
Also Air-Drop has stopped working, so there is no means of transferring files between the Pro and the Air.
I am going away now for a few days and will revisit this on my return.

Create different network share shortcut in desktop for different security groups using GPO

I have an OU named TECH that contains two different security groups ENG and PRESS.
When users in ENG group logs in desktop should show a network share \\server1\eng-share and
when users in PRESS group logs in desktop should show a network share \\server1\press-share.
How to create a GPO for this ?

You could use group policy preferences shortcuts. You would create a shortcut to each of these shares and then use Item Level Targeting. The target would point to the security group needed.
