Creating menus in Oracle Forms

Hello,
i need your help again. can you give me an example of how to create a menu in Oracle Forms? i didn't find something convincing.. so i need a menu ELEVI which has 2 menu items, AFISARE and CAUTARE. i don't know how to make them..
i heard that the menu item WINDOW cannot be removed, is it true? can i specify then where should appear this menu item? i wanna the last 2 menus being WINDOW, and HELP (again, how to create a help menu item?). a short example i hope will clarify me..

Create user from oracle form builder 10g

dear all,
anyone to help me? I want to try, to create a new user from form builder oracle 10g in windows, I use a default script like 'create user user_name identified 123' in toad 9.0 for oracle and the result is success but when I try to combine with form builder oracle 10g this script doesn't work...I hope somebody can help me to solve my problem..

Regarding Create Record in Oracle forms

Hi,
I am having a form in which I had two sections, master and detail. Master section has a field in which I select week range like 01-FEB-2012-07-FEB-2012.
Based upon this I am populating with the help of CREATE_RECORD(writted in when new block of detail) , 7 rows in the detailed section,
01-FEB-2012
02-
03-
till 07-FEB-2012.
There are other columns in the detail section beside this date field. Now at a stage when nothing is saved, I can go in the master block and change the week rangeb from LOV and accordingly the date field in the detail section gets populated with new 7 days/rows. (Its happening as the system.record_status = INSERT).
Now what I need is when I select the date range in master, 7 days as usual gets populated in detail section. Now I save and then I try to change the lov for the date range in master i doesn't allow me to change .(presently the system.record_status = QUERY) although I have taken 3 modes (NEW , INSERT & QUERY in the when new block code.
I am now not able to sure if at all what I want is feasible or not considering the mode when its QUERY. I tried doing some r&d but not of much help. Can anyone plz advise if this is a feasible requirement or not possible as per standard method.

Actually where clause is not applicable in my requirement. I am not finding anything in the detail block. I will be creating new records based upon the week LOV value entered.
The form is used to create employee's weekly shift. So if I want to create shift for an employee say XYZ for the week 01-JAN-2013 - 07-JAN-2013. I will select the value as 01-JAN-2013 - 07-JAN-2013 from the LOV in master block.
Then I move to the detail block, and as a result of the code written in when new block of detail,
the column DAY & DATE will be autopopulated for the 7 rows:
DAY DATE
SUN 01-JAN-2013
MON 02-JAN-2013
TUE 03-JAN-2013
and so on ........till
SAT 07-JAN-2013
Now there are other columns beside DAY & DATE like shift name.
I provide a shift name on each of the 7 days and I save it.
Now my screen in master wil look like:
Employee : XYZ Week: 01-JAN-2013 - 07-JAN-2013
Detail screen will look like:
DAY DATE SHIFT and there are other columns
SUN 01-JAN-2013 Morning
MON 02-JAN-2013 Morning
TUE 03-JAN-2013 ..........
and so on ........till ...........
SAT 07-JAN-2013 Night
At this stage if I go to the master screen and try to change the LOV value to say 08-JAN-2013 - 15-JAN-2013. Then I expect that detail screen will be autopopulated with new values :
DAY DATE
SUN 08-JAN-2013
MON 09-JAN-2013
TUE 10-JAN-2013
and so on ........till
SAT 15-JAN-2013
This thing is happening at the unsaved stage i.e if not saved and I change the LOV value in master multiple times, the detail will be autopopulated everytime replacing the previous 7 rows.
But not working once SAVED i.e its not allowing to change value in the week LOV in master. I am able to click but it doesn't opens up the list.

How to create report from Oracle Forms 9i chart?

I am new to Forms and Reports 9i. I need to create a chart (let's say it contains customer name on axis X and total sales for this customer on axis Y). Is it possible to get report with details for particular customer by clicking on the chart's bar for this customer and if so, what is the way of doing it?

yes, you can. When selecting a chart item in Forms, you retrieve e.g. the username (or something similar unique) and then call Reports e.g. using a Run_Report_Object() call, passing the username as a Reports parameter.

save and compile your menu module.
open the property sheet of the form to which you want to attach them menu,
On the "Menu Module" property give the full path of the menu you want to attach.
if the menu is in the same path where your forms modules are then just give the menu module name.

Access oracle forms from only one computer

Hi,
We have an ERP software which is created by using Oracle Forms 4.5. We want to give an access to user to use the specified screen of our ERP program from only one computer. Apart from that no one should access the screen from any computer.
Is it possible to do that?

Upgrade all clients to Windows 7, and leave one with windows 2000 in place. The windows 7 clients most certainly won't be able to run a forms 4.5 application ;)
Why would you want to limit it to one computer? Isn't that what user accounts are for? Or are all users using the same account? You could of course check for the hostname of the client connected to the database:

LINZ\CHE-WSBut this is not a very safe method, as I could boot a virtual machine with NAT so I don't get a name resolution conflict, name it like your machine and connect to the database. User accounts are protected by passwords, if I don't know the password I can't connect to the application (at least it's a little bit harder to hack a password then a hostname ;) )

Oracle Forms and Reports Installation - Creating domain failed

I installed the weblogic 10.3.6 (Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence + OEPE - Package Installer) in my Microsoft Windows(32-bit JVM) system first.
But there was an error occorred when the package of forms and reports (Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2 (11.1.2.2.0)) was installing.

hi user ...
on windows there are some steps in front of installation and configuration.
1) cleare the Windows Env (Path .. Programme x86 )
no Blank in Path and so on
2) insert into your local host file your server and IP Adress
3) in Windows 32 setup of WLS is JDK included so you don't have to install the jdk in front of WLS
4) verify if you are using the right installation medium (jdk 32 bit, wls 32 bit , fmw 32 bit
in your OraInventory/logs directory is a *.out file for your installation please can you put this file in the forum
is there a nodemanager up and running (if so please stop)

Oracle Forms & Reports 11.1.2 with WebLogic 10.3.5 - Creating Domain 0%

I would be grateful if someone could point out where I'm going wrong here......
I am attempting to install Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.2.0.0) 64-bit edition on a Windows 2008 Server (R2 x64).
Step 1: download and install jdk-7u3-windows-x64.exe
Step 2: ensure JAVA_HOME and Path include definitions to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_03
Step 3: download and install wls1035_generic.jar by typing java -Xmx1024m -jar wls1035_generic.jar - de-select Run Quickstart
Step 4: download ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64
Step 5: run setup and select "install and configure"
Step 6: leave all installation locations as default
Step 7: select "Configure for Deployment"
Step 8: select "Create Domain" and enter passwords
Step 9: select "Oracle Forms Builder" in additon to items already selected
Step 10: Auto Port config, no proxy, no OID
Installation Progress = 100%
Configuration Progress = 0%
Stuck on "Creating Domain"
If I open the Sysinternals TCPView tool I can see that the javaw.exe (The Forms and Reports Installer application) is attempting to connect to port 7001 on the server but then closes the connection. This repeats over and over again until the installer gives up with an error message.
I have made sure that the PATH variable doesn't contain any ( characters as I know this has been an issue that was raised in other threads.
Any ideas?

If anyone is interested I found the fault with this installation.
The installation works fine if I repeat all of the steps above apart from the following changes: -
Step 1: download and install jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe instead of 7u3
Step 2: this step is not required
I hope this helps anyone else who is attempting this.

weblogic server installation is perfect no errors at all.
i also got the errors i got during installation ( im_emagent.mk and while running command gcc) . but thanks to OTN Forums i had managed to find out a fix. but on this error only solution i got is
TRY WINDOWS . but what about linux then? is there any solution on this error?
i am not much used to front-end ( java i mean). i am Oracle DBA Actually n want to install n try Weblogic

You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
when it happened the reports environment did not start.
From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
you can select just the following:
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Reports
- Developer Tools aan.
- Management Components
- Oracle HTTP Server
and deselect the other options:
- Oracle Portal
- Oracle Discoverer
- Oracle WebCache
- Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
- (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
- Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

Problem calling WebService from Oracle Forms created by JDeveloper

I am trying to call a Webservice from Oracle Form using JAVA Class created by Oracle JDeveloper.
The Java Function (in JDeveloper) is as follows:

When I am calling this Function from Within Forms and Passing into it the Parameters, I am displaying some Debugging Messages. When the Code reaches "JNI.CALL_OBJECT_METHOD" there is NO RESPONSE from the Webservice and nothing is moving forward after this Point...
A similar Webservice that can be Tested is:

Kindly note that this Webservice is running properly from the Web Browser but the call from Oracle Forms is not Succeeding!!!! :-((

Hi,
Yes, you need to compile your source files with JDK 1.3 (since JInit 1.3.x.x uses JDK 1.3).
Other solution would be to use JRE 1.5 (instead of JInitiator).

Field selection problem in a form created in Oracle forms 9i

I am using an application created in Oracle 9 i Forms. Mouse navigation in the forms do not work properly. Since a field is selected and some string is typed then first character is allways ignored hence it is necessary to press a key like before typing required string. The same application works well when I'm using Oracle JInitiator.

Hi, again and thanks for the patience. I am using the oracle plugin all the time and it works. But I need to use the application on different computer where the oracle JInitiator could not be installed. There I am trying to use the Sun Java Plugin Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) which shall be compatible. Since last time I asked again the provider and I found that the application is pure Oracle Forms 9i application which doesn't need Java when it is run on the computer where the application is instaled. The Java plugin is then used to show the forms and to provide the comunication between clients and application server. Probably it is clear to you however I am not a developer but poor user only. I have also tried to play with the application to find how it works (or doesn't works). It seems that the problem is exactly with mouse navigation. When tab or enter is used then it works fine. But when a form field is selected by mouse then a character is typed and i can see it. But when I continue with the writing the first character is overwrite. Sometimes when there is a list of records row by row and I try to get to next row using the mouse the application tells me that some bloody key is not valid but using the key down I can easily go ti next row. To tell the truth I don't like mouses at all so it is no problem to me but other users do not know how Tab works :-)

How do you create THIS "grid" in Oracle Forms

Hi,
I am new to Forms. I have to develop a grid very similar to the one shown here.
How can you create the grid in the bottom??
I can't see using any of the standard Oracle toolbox items (like multi-record blocks) for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Grid column headings are days of the week, Mon, Tue, Wed etc.
Grid Rows also have names, like Room, Status and Rm. Type.
Cells have various values in various colors (red, blue, green etc) and signs like ">>".
Can you see that??
My question is, how to create a grid like this in Oracle Forms??? We cannot do it using a multi record block.
So, how have they done it??? The form in the image is an actual Oracle Form from a hotel reservation system.
