Creating multiple http servers on one machine

I created multiple http servers on one machine.
I did this in the following way:
Created a http service as nt service with the following command:
apache -i -n Testservice -f d:\oracle\isuites\apache\apache\conf\httpd2.conf.
When I start the service, I always get an error:
Didn't return an error. Cannot start service.
Can someone help me.
I need two httpd services as nt service. Because, I want to use oracle fail safe. So I need a service.
Alternative : I can create batch files. But I want to start these batch files as nt service. Is there a possibility on
Windows nt to do this, or an available tool.
Thanks in advance,
Iloon

          If you want to have multiplie servers in the same machine and you want to cluster them then you need ip for each instance.
          If you want multiple instances without clustering, then you can have them run on the same ip but each one should have a different port.

          If you are accessing the ejb/services on the same server using a servlet. You can get the context, simply using the default getInitialContext(). This should return the context to the local machine. This shoudnt require any ip information.

  • Can we create multiple admin servers in one one weblogic domain.

    Hi All,
    Can we create multiple admin servers in one one weblogic domain.
    if yes, please let me know.
    Thanks

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13716/toc.htm
    Not through the configuration wizard.
    To handle admin server availability (the admin server is not clusterable). This means that if the admin server goes
    down, you cannot administer your WebLogic Server domain until you bring it back up. In most cases, you may
    not be too concerned if the admin server goes down because all you need to do is restart it. If you use the node
    manager to start the admin server, the node manager can automatically restart a failed admin server just like it can any other server.
    What happens if the machine where the admin server runs fails in such a way that you cannot restart the admin server?
    The answer is simple if you prepare for this event. Proper operation of the admin server relies on several configuration files
    and any application files it controls. Typically, the best thing to do is to store the admin server's directory tree on a shared disk.
    As long as the configuration and application files are accessible, you can restart the admin server on another machine. It is up
    to you to make sure that you don't have more than one admin server running at a time. If the new machine can assume the
    original admin server's Listen Address (or if it was not set), you can simply start the admin server on the new machine without
    any configuration changes.
    Otherwise, you will need to change the admin server's Listen Address. Since the managed servers ping the admin server URL every
    10 seconds until it comes back up, you need to devise a way for the admin server URL to allow the managed server to find the restarted
    admin server on the new IP address. The easiest way to achieve that is using a DNS name that maps to both IP addresses, or better yet
    that is dynamically updated to point to the correct location of the admin server. If this is a graceful shutdown and migration, use the
    WebLogic Console to change the Listen Address just before shutting down the admin server. If not, you will need to edit the config.xml
    file by hand to replace the old Listen Address with the new one. Typically, it is recommended to plan ahead so that everything you need is
    already in place to make admin server failover as painless as possible.

  • Have multiple iTunes libraries on one machine?

    Hi,
    I want to have multiple iTunes libraries on one machine (with two different hard drives, internal fore mp3s and external for AAC files). One library is composed of mp3s for an iPod, I want the other library to have AAC audio files for burning CDs. I would rather the libraries not be mixed.
    I have read the article (#301748) for migrating an iTunes library and am preparing to migrate one of the libraries on to a external hard drive.
    I have read about using Libra to maintain two different libraries on one machine. I was wondering if anyone does this and if they have encountered any problems? Is there a better solution?
    Thank you,
    TPK

    It's one thing to want two music libraries on one machine and another to want two music libraries on one user account. For the latter, here's what I've done.
    I created folders in my iTunes folder called, say, Main Library Folder and Second Library Folder. (These could be anywhere you find convenient.) I dragged my regular iTunes Library file into the Main Library Folder. Then I opened iTunes and created my second music library. When I finished that, I closed iTunes and dragged the just-created iTunes Library file into the Second Library Folder.
    If I want to use my main iTunes library, before opening iTunes I drag an alias (Cmmd-Option-drag) of the iTunes Library file from the Main Library Folder into the iTunes folder. Then, when I open iTunes, iTunes reads my main library file. And of course, it works the same way for the second library.
    Of course, you could just shuffle the actual library files into position in the iTunes folder from their holding areas, but I strongly preferred to get myself into the habit of relying on aliases, so I could leave the actual library file alone in their respective folders. You most definitely would not want to accidentally overwrite one of your iTunes Library files.
    I'm sure one of the shareware products would do a more elegant job, but this just shows you that it's not a difficult process.
    The alternative is to set up separate user accounts to access different libraries on the same machine. This has real benefits and, to me, should be the first option one considers. It's easier on the brain, as it sticks to iTunes' one-user-one-library model, and there's absolutely no risk of getting libraries confused. Fast User Switching on the Mac makes going back and forth between accounts easy. But if you really want to avoid using different accounts, and it's only you that has to keep things straight, the approach of jumping back and forth between different libraries in the same user account should be OK.

  • In Pages (5.5.1) can I create multiple Paragraph Styles within one paragraph?

    In Pages (5.5.1) can I create multiple Paragraph Styles within one paragraph.
    I need to make a table of contents for my Mater's Thesis and want to use the automatic table of contents feature.  I want the first sentence of a paragraph to have a different paragraph setting than the rest of the paragraph.  Is this possible?
    Thanks!

    Nice of you to be doing this for your Mother's Thesis.
    There are several issues here:
    1. A Paragraph Style is what it says, the style for the paragraph
    2. You can format text within a paragraph by applying a Character Style
    3. Pages 5.5.1 lets you apply formatting to overall text for the T.O.C. but not parts of it and you can not retain that formatting as a Paragraph style
    So in answer to your question, no.
    You will need to create the T.O.C. manually and unfortunately as Pages 5.5.1 can't create bookmarks (just one of over 100 missing features) you will be unable to link the T.O.C. to the referred pages in the list.

  • Multiple 8800GT's in one machine

    Hi,
    I'm building a machine which will act as a server for image processing. It will use openGL offscreen rendering to answer clients requests.
    I was wondering if it is possible to put multiple 8800GT's in one machine to get performance boost?
    I know Macs don't support SLI, but I was thinking that if my image processing modules run in 2 instances I could potentially server two clients with no performance loss.
    Can anyone help out here?
    Thanx
    Yaron

    No, the Management Console has one WebService page. You would need to install the Management Console a second time for that.

  • Multiple Reports Servers on single machine

    Forgive me if this has previously been posted - I searched, but I'm probably using the wrong terms to search properly.
    Our current environment calls for two OAS installs (10.1.2.2.0) that access two separate oracle databases (10.2.0.2 if it matters). Those same app servers also run Forms and Reports (also 10.1.2.2.0), which the apps access.
    What we are now attempting to do with limited success is to consolidate those two application servers and reports into one machine but have the services essentially separate, so that not only do the applications access different databases (this is where we've succeeded) but also the reports are separate (from the limited knowledge i have, i think it will require a separate cgicmd.dat file...maybe?).
    In case i'm not being perfectly clear, i need to have the exact same report (many, in fact) on two separate reports servers (on the same machine) contacting two separate databases (incidentally by duplicates of the same app, too, but I can take care of that part).
    Any tips on how I could accomplish this? I followed the short steps outlined here:
    http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/state/content/navId.3/navSetId._/vtTopicFile.rptoem_hs%7Ctasks%7Crptoem_conf_addnew_repserver~html/
    But I'm a bit foggy regarding what to do next.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    The report gets called via the rwservlet (hope that answers your question correctly)
    The application is in OAS.
    The separation i require is both in the database and the reports themselves.
    For example let's say i have devapp and testapp - both the exact same app. But they both need to access reports under the same key, but the report needs to get its info from its respective dev and test databases. The key is hardcoded so can't change.
    If i understand correctly (a big "if"), the cgicmd.dat file tells wich report to grab and which database to connect to based on the key. Is there a way to have separate key map files (cgicmd.dat) called by separate applications? So that devapp will get Report1 using devdatabase, where testapp wil get Report1 using testdatabase?
    It may not be possible to do this kind of server consolidation, I just need to know one way or another for sure - and if it is possible, how to proceed.

    =============================================================================
    In recent versions of Solaris, the Xsun keyboard & mouse DDX modules
    have been extended to support multiple keyboards and mice on Solaris.
    The Xorg server on Solaris x86 has similarly been extended to support
    multiple mice, but not yet multiple keyboards.
    Unfortunately, this is not a very well documented feature, though it is
    supported - but you must pay close attention to the configuration
    instructions and Limitations described below.
    There are currently two choices for configuring X on a machine with
    multiple input devices:
    * One X server with the extra devices available via the X Input
    extension (commonly used for accessibility helper programs, or for x86
    laptop users)
    * Multiple X servers, each with its own set of input & output
    devices ("multi-seat" mode)
    The two methods can be mixed on a single machine - when configuring you
    simply need to determine which X server each device is going to be
    associated with.
    Requirements
    * Solaris 9 FCS or later (SPARC or x86)
    * USB-capable machine
    * For Solaris 9, USB patch 115338-01 (sparc)/115339-01 (x86) or
    newer. For Solaris 10, s10_17 or newer.
    Limitations
    Due to the nature of USB and Sun's implementation, USB devices may get
    different numbers when initialized or hot-plugged in a different order.
    A partial solution is to use the full path name under the /devices
    hierarchy - this is tied to the physical port a device is plugged into,
    so the order is no longer a problem, but devices must always be plugged
    into the same port this way.
    Xsun Configuration
    The following sections may be added to either
    /etc/openwin/server/etc/OWconfig or /usr/openwin/server/etc/OWconfig.
    Xsun reads both when starting up and merges their contents.
    * 1. Run ls -l /dev/usb/hid* to see what the existing device names are.
    * 2. Attach the additional input devices to the machine
    * 3. ls -l /dev/usb/hid* to see what the newly attached device names
    are. Note at the end of each symlink line it will list whether it is a
    keyboard or a mouse.
    * 4. Add lines of the following form to OWconfig, one for each
    device, and each with a unique name beginning with "IMOUSE" or "IKBD":
    # sun Keyboard module
    class="XINPUT" name="IKBD2"
    dev="/dev/usb/hid2" strmod="usbkbm"
    ddxHandler="ddxSUNWkbd.so.1"
    ddxInitFunc="ddxSUNWkbdProc";
    # sun Mouse module
    class="XINPUT" name="IMOUSE2"
    dev="/dev/usb/hid3" strmod="usbms"
    ddxHandler="ddxSUNWmouse.so.1"
    ddxInitFunc="ddxSUNWmouseProc";
    * 5. To configure multiseat mode, add a section to OWconfig to
    associate each keyboard, mouse, and frame buffer with a specific display
    (in this case ":1"):
    class="XDISPLAY" name="1"
    coreKeyboard="IKBD2" corePointer="IMOUSE2"
    dev0="/dev/fb1";
    * 6. Test your configuration. For multiseat mode, run an Xserver on
    the display you listed (xinit :1 or add a line for :1 to
    /etc/dt/config/Xservers ). For use with the X input extension, restart X
    and run xinputdev -l (source code here) to list the devices the server
    sees. You can also run xinputdev -k & xinputdev -m to switch your core
    keyboard and mouse to the specified devices.

    The report gets called via the rwservlet (hope that answers your question correctly)
    The application is in OAS.
    The separation i require is both in the database and the reports themselves.

  • Can I create multiple presentation templates against one content item?

    I want to create multiple presentation templates that publish the same content item in different ways.
    As far as I can tell from the publisher GUI this is not possible.
    Am I missing something?

    It may not be feasible to have two PT associated with a DT technically. But there is a workaround / solution for your requirement. thats what i meant in my prev post.
    To accomplish your requirement in a simple fashion try doing this
    1) copy the contents of all PT, DT and Content Items with all its folders in the _NEWS (portlet templates) folder to a new folder called 'PortletA' (or) make use of the News portlet template to create a portlet
    2) Now modify the DT's and PT's according to your requirement.
    3) Create a portlet using "Published Content" webservice and configure the 'Main' to your portlet.
    4) if you create and pblish new article, you can find two html's are getting published.
    If this doesn't resolve your requirement,
    Create two sets of Dt & Pt's. In the article PT, try to add the other Pt as "related items to publish", so on publishing one the other one gets published.

  • Creating new Managed Servers on remote machines

    Hi,
    We have a multi-machine domain already in place. Nodemanager is configured and we're using the architecture suggested in Oracle SOA Enterprise Deployment Guide, where we have one domain home for the AdminServer and one domain home for the Managed servers. Right now what we need to know is how to add new managed servers in the easiest and fastest way possible on the mserver home on both the adminserver local machine and on the remote machine, this is a development environment and we need to be able to quickly create and delete these servers for developers to work.
    We know that the standard way of doing it is doing a pack (for the managed servers only), and then an unpack on the mserver home both on local and remote machine after changing the root directory of these servers to match those homes. Here is were we have our first doubts. Do the unpack command command has to be run with the already running servers down? Does this pack and unpack process affects what we already have deployed on the running managed servers? And last but not least, is there any way to automate this process? Because we need to give the developers the ability to create clusters on the environment through the admin server console, but without giving them access to the underlying operating system.
    If this seems like a newbie question is because we are, we're just in the process of migrating oas 10g to weblogic 11g and there are tons of basic administration stuff that seem pretty strange for us, we've looked through the Oracle manuals and metalink but even though some show you how to create the domain with remote managed servers for the first time, we couldn't find any mention on how to add the mserver efficiently after that.
    Thanks!

    Cris,
    Thanks again for your help, we're trying to figure out how to present this procedure to our customer, just one thought though, we were thinking about moving away from the architecture presented by de SOA Enterprise Deployment guide, and using a single domain home located on the shared storage, that way we could create the managed servers from the admin console without having to use pack/unpack and deciding where to run the servers just by configuring machines and nodemanager. However, we haven't seen this kind of configuration anywhere on Oracle manuals, is there any other problem you are aware of in this idea? We're using a storage with multipath for the shared disk so we're not very concerned about availability (and if the storage went down the weblogic domain would be the least of our problems).

    Hi,
    We have setup 2 ECC 6.0 systems on one host ECC DEV and ECC QAS. Windows 2003 Server 64bit
    We want to setup 2 standalone Content Servers (MaxDB). One contentserver pointing to ECC DEV and one to ECC QAS. Containing its own content.
    Problem is that I was not able to set up 2 content servers on one host because in ISS i could only create one default webservice during installation.
    To my opinion it must be possible to setup 2 standalone content servers on one host, question is how?

    You cannot Configure Two Content Servers on IIS( One Sigle Hardware).
    As this Content Server you have configured can be used by both  ECC DEV and ECC QAS.
    There is no need of two content servers.Same Contentent server can be used by ECC DEV and ECC QAS.
