Creating new album problem
Just upgraded to iphoto 11 9.1.1 from the app store, now it seems when I select file/new album it gives me a new untitled album, but the new untitled album show all photos and video from my library. I would expect it would or should be empty.

select a photo prior to creating the album - then the album will be created with that photo only in it - or select several photos or an event - the new album will contain only what is selected

I've noticed a weird problem with my iPhoto lately. I can create new albums just fine in iPhoto itself, but when I go to my Finder and hit Pictures>iPhoto Library>Albums, the new albums don't show up as new folders. Is there something wrong here, or am I just using an outdated version of iPhoto?As long as the albums are there when iPhoto is open, don't worry about it. You shouldn't be poking around in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder anyway — all you can do in there is corrupt iPhoto's database and make the app lose track of the rest of your stuff. There is no reason to go there at all — everything you need to do with your photos can and should be done from within iPhoto.

I have tried to create new albums with iphoto 08 from the shortcut at the bottom and from the file menu and neither will work???

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again. You'll have to reset the user selected preferences in iPhoto.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Create new album in Facebook while sharing is not available
Since upgrading iPhoto to 2.0 (531) disappeared function to create a new album in Facebook while sharing. There is no button "+" or "create new album" where I want to put them. I can choose between existing albums, one of them is album called "iOS Photos". It's not convinient, please get back this functionality.

All my photos on my phone are in one album. Is there a way to create new albums and move some of them?
With photos transferred from your computer, you create the albums or folders on your computer.
If you manually manage photo storage on your computer, create a parent folder that will store the named folders of photos you want transferred to your iPhone. Place the named folders of photos in this parent folder and select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync. The folders of photos inside of the parent folder on your computer's hard drive will be transferred to your iPhone as separate albums. To add an additional album of photos to your iPhone, place the folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync. To remove an album of photos from your iPhone, move the folder of photos outside of the parent folder followed by a sync. -
Am I crazy? Creating new album from slideshow
It seems a bit strange, but i cannot figure out how to take an existing slideshow and create a new album from it. One of the more powerful features of the newer iPhoto is to take an existing album and quickly view full screen slideshow (including image file names), and to remove images from this mode.
I can't fathom then not being able to create a new album from that newly created slideshow. I must be wrong about this. Please, tell me that I'm wrong and that there's a simple way to do it...Hi chris, there is no "create new album from selection" when you have a permanent slideshow. Others have asked and it might be a good feedback for iPhoto.
As a workaround you can select all and go to Photos/My rating and give them 1 star, or two or whatever. Then make a smart album whose "rating" is "whatever star/stars you chose. Now you can select all in the smart album and create an album from that selection.
In the future, start off with "on the fly" slideshows. Add and/or subtract the images to make it just right. When you are happy with the slideshow, then make it into a permanent slideshow. Now you will have the album and the permanent slideshow from that album. -
I have the iPod touch 4th generation. How can I create new albums in the photos app to sort my pictures
You cannot.
You create albums on your computer and sync them to your ipod. -

If you are on a mac, you can create new albums in iphoto.
Move the photos you want into the new albums and then sync them to the iphone.
If you are on a pc, you can create a new folder on your computer then create sub folders.
Add photos you want to the sub folders.
Now sync the main folder to the iphone and the sub folders will show up as new albums on the iphone.
There is not a way to create albums or move photos on the iphone.

IPhoto crashes 100% when I attempt to create new album
iPhoto 9.2.1, Lion 10.7.2
iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
Whether I give the New Album command in the File menu or use the Create button to make a new album, the program immediately crashes.
Here are the exception type/codes the report shows:

I have uninstalled iPhoto and trashed all the pkg files for iPhoto in the /private/var/db/receipts folder, then reinstalled iPhoto from the original disk and installed each of the updates through 9.2.1. The same problem persists.
Other steps I have taken:
1. tested ram using Rember;
2. ran TechTool Pro 6.0.3 various tests;
3. ran DiskWarrior and Disk Utility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should anyone else run into the same problem, check to see if the application Divx is installed on your hard drive. If so, uninstall the app and, voila, the iPhoto problem goes away.

You can sync photos from your computer via iTunes, and each folder that you sync will get its own album : syncing photos. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next sync.
In terms of albums that you create directly on the iPad no, effectively you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you delete the original photo you will therefore also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could consider a third-party photo management app instead e.g. Photo Manager Pro -
Why does iTunes move my music files and create new albums?
I'm running iTunes 11.4 on my iMac running Mavericks 10.9.4. My iTunes library is stored on a WD MyBookLive NAS.
I've not had any problems with this set up until today. When I double clicked on a song it moved it completely into another album, gave the file the wrong name but still played the right music, it had also changed the file information to match the wrong folder. When I re-added it to iTunes it put it back into the wrong album!
I have also seen it move songs as I double click them to play from one album to a new album of the same name but the artist name goes from 'Soupdragons' to 'The Soupdragons' Both these folders then exist on my NAS. This is crazy, what is happening? Fortunately these errors have happened to old music that I have the CD's for so I can easily rectify it, but any help as to why it's happening would be great.

Photo Page, Add albums, creates new "Album Pages", style?
Working with iWeb09, I created a single photo gallery page, then I drop in an album from iPhoto, looks and works great. I edit the resulting page and it looks great, but when I add another iPhoto album, it creates a new photo page automatically. How can I get that page to look the same as the previous pages? It seems to default to the template default.
ADDENDUM: This might work but may be more effort than just editing the layout.
1 - select the page that the album creates and duplicate it (select and type Command+D) - Page A
2 - add the new album.
3 - go to the new album's page - Page B, select and copy the thumbnail box.
4 - go to Page-A, click on the thumbnail box, select all of the photos in it and delete.
5 - Do a paste to bring in the new photos from B.
6 - delete page B and rename A to what B was named.
7 - change any text boxes as needed.
8 - select the image for the second album, go to the Inspector/Link/Hyperlink and link it to page A via the Link to one of my pages menu.
Sounds like a lot but may be quicker than modifying the layout each time. Or not. -
Creating new Layout problem with merged table within std_resources.htm

i am relatively new to oracle ucm and i am trying to add new comonent to create new layout from oracle Create and Modify Layout Sample Component* example under http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/content-management/index-092832.html .
i want to ask about the following
in this component i have CreateLayout_Layouts Table, CreateLayout_PublishedWeblayoutFiles Table and CreateLayout_PublishedStaticFiles Table. These tables should be merged with LmLayouts table, PublishedWeblayoutFiles table and PublishedStaticFiles table respectively in the std_resources.htm file in the <install_dir>/shared/config/resources directory.
The problem is in my std_resources.htm file i have the following :

note: i will be greatfull if someone have the std_resources.htm that have the above tables merged with the specified ones.I believe that sample is old. i have been pushing to get an updated version out also. Hopefully the fragmentary information I will give here will help.
The main changes are dynamic data tables which replace the includes to control the menu items and relationships. The old things should work still but good to use the new. At the end is an example of merge rules.

Create new album with new versions of selected images
Is there an easy way to create a new album containing new versions of the currently selected images?
Some explanation where I need that feature:
First I go through the images and adjust them for the some purpose. Then I need the same images in another place also and I now that there I need them to be a bit brighter or cropped differently or something. So it would be nice to be able to just select the images and say "I want a new album containing new versions of these images".
Is that possible somehow? Have I just missed something while reading (riffling through) the manual...There is not such an option but it could come in handy. You can use Aperture's feedback to suggest it.
For now the only way would be duplicate versions and move them to another album. -
When ever I create a new album random pictures from other albums end up automatically in the new album....Is there anything I need to do so this does not happen?
