Creating New Source System Connection

[First post, so go easy on me!]
I have created a source system connection in BW QA, to an additional R3 QA client, but I am unable to assign any datasources to the new this new connection. [I know that I should have created the connection in DEV and transported through, but I need this connection for a small test, that won't be used again.]
To get round this, do I need to have my BW & R3 clients 'opened' again, then transfer the 'Application Component Hierarchy' via RSA9, then 'Replicate Datasources' in BW. If not, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Scott

Scott,
You will have to transfer the BC datasources that you want to use from R/3 to BW.
in BW, right-click your source system in the modeling tab and select replicate datasources, this will take you through to your R/3 system. Select the datasources you want to use and transfer them. Then go back to your BW system and right-click the source system and select "Transfer datasources". This should make them available.
If when you have got through to R/3 to transfer the datasources you are told that cross-client customising is not available then I think that you will have to get the client opened up.
Cheers,
Stuart

  • Creating new Source system problem

    Hi there,
System: BW 3.5 client 010, want  to connect to R/3 4.6c Sandbox client 0101
we just refreshed our BW 3.5  sandbox with current production data. Now we want to create the source system via RSA1 to point to R/3 Sandbox. When we try to create this we get this new error. I am not sure why it is
    Error:
    Logical system BIX010 exists already
    Message no. R3222
    Diagnosis
The SAP Business Information Warehouse BIX010 is already connected to the source system. A multiple connection is not possible.
For some reason, it is reading as BIX010(talking to the system itself) - BW Sandbox systems, it should be doing the source system creation for SBX010 not BIX010 (talking to the system itself)
I tried to create the system manually and automatically, still no luck.
I cannot see SBX010 source system in teh RSA1, I am afraid it might be in the database table and not showing up in the transaction RSA1, does anyone know the table that it has this information, so I can se16 and look at the entries?
Does anyone knows where to look for?
    Thanks in Advance
    Kumar

Goto SM50 and check for ABAP connections. Look for SBX010. If you don'T find it here you have to create it. Check also BIX010 if it'S connected to the right system.

  • Creating New Source System

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a new source system in BW for the new R/3 client which is a copy of PRD.
So now new R/3 client is 200 and also PRD is 200. I did all necessary steps and i found difficulty when i am assigning logical system based on client. I found key is only client, so as PRD system is already mentioned with client 200 i am not able to create new entries and i hope this causing me error.
So by creating RFC destination directly in SM59 and when i tried to create it says PRD Client already available. Though i have specified new client server name.
    Kindly advise.
    This is quite urgent.
    Thank You.
    Best regards,
    Bhuvana.

    hi,
it seems rfc connection between bw and r/3 not established properly, check with transaction sm59 (ask basis help if no authorization), choose r/3 source system rfc and menu test->authorization. check if user name and password, hostname/ip address are correct.
this doc 'bw r/3 connectivity' may useful http://help.sap.com/bp_biv235/BI_EN/BBLibrary/documentation/B84_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc
    hope this helps.

  • Change Default Background User In BW When Creating New Source System

    Hi all,
I would like to create a new Source System in RSA1.
In Source Systems > SAP > Create > Connection of source system to BW
the Default background user in BW is u201CALEREMOTEu201D.
How do I change this to another user?

Just want to say thank you. I could fix a problem with your information.
I was searching to change the background user from ALEREMOTE to BWREMOTE as all our process chains were running on ALEREMOTE.

  • Steps for creating new source system

    Hi guys
We are on BI 7 and ECC 6 now...We are planning to get the data from other source systems (R/3 4.6)which are existed in different place.
Now my question is what are the steps to get the data from this new Source system and whats BI developer role for this...
Example: Inorder to establish the connection between BI and R/3 we need an RFC connection (Is this done by BASIS / BI )? If its BI , then what do I need to ask for ?
afterthat what are all the questions or points that I need to raise to the folks in the meeting...
    Please advice
    regards

    Hi
    refer to this link below
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/ac/4a4e38493e4774e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
Exactly this will be taken up by BASIS team so that at any time if we have any issues with RFCs like RFC connection failure we will not get any data to our targets.
Then we have to raise ticket to basis stating this failure

  • Source System Connection Problem - RSAR 371

We are attempting to create source system connections in our newly created NW2004s Dev system (sapdvbd1/BD1). We also have an existing NW2004s Dev system (sapsvbd1/BD1) which already contains the same source system connections.  The old Dev system was on a virtual machine but due to performance issues we have built another Dev system on a real server.  Is there any way to create these source system connections on both servers until everything has been moved from the old to the new?  The same source systems need to exist on both.  Thanks.

    Hi ,
Please check with basis or if you can ,then try to restore the source system in BI/BW.This should correct the  inconsistencies between the two systems which is being caused by different Idoc types
Also check the table RSBASIDOC in the BI system and compare this to R/3 system ,the "basic type" field should be same.
A restore should work,it has always worked for me.

  • RSA1 - Source system connection : No connection to system  possible

    Hello friends,
I am creating a Source system connection from our BW system. I have already established the working RFC connection to source system which works fine, both side client is open & system is modifiable.
Bit i am getting error : No connection to system  possible
    No connection to system  possible
    Message no. RSAR501
    Diagnosis
    Logical system  cannot be accessed.
    System Response
Error during the retrieval of the logon data store d in secure storage
    Procedure
Use transaction SM59 (for BAPI and SAP source systems) or DBCO (for database source systems) to check the RFC parameters of source system . Also check whether the system can be accessed in the network and whether the necessary application and system programs have been started.
I have already implemented SAP note 1276270 - RSAR 501 for source system restore due to router string /H/ without success.
    thanks

  • BW: Connect to new source system via special transport

    Hello everyone!
I have a BW system connected to an R/3 source system. I have made a copy of the source system. Now I want all my models to be connected to both source systems. I heard that this can be achieved via special transport (i.e. place all source system dependant objects into a special transport request to be imported back into my BW system, but with the new source system assignment). Does anyone have any documentation on how to do this?
    Best Regards and Merry Xmas!
    Luís Andrade.

    Hi Luis,
    There are two parts,
    1) If you want to transport all your objects from current R/3 system to newly created r/3 system then you can create a TR and use it in SCC4 transaction during client copy. In the same fashion you can use RSA1---> transport connection and use the TR for system copy. After that once you release this TR all the objects will move from one system to another.
    2) But if you have already moved all the objects in source system but now you want them to replicate in BI then go to SAP BI system select your source system and then from the context menu choose replicate datsources option, it will fetch everything from respective source system in BI.

    Durgesh.

  • Connecting MSSQL as new source system

    Dear all,
We want to connect a MSSQL server as a new source system in SAP BW 7.0.
Does anybody has a good "How to..." Paper which helps to connect MSSQL step by step to SAP BW?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards
    Daniel

Follow the below mentioned steps to create a dbconnect source system.
    1. Goto RSA1 -> Source systems. Right click and Create
    2. Give some name and description and hit enter
    3. a. Con Name : Any name (SQLSRV, etc)
    b. DBMS : MSS
    c. UserName : Any username which is present in the SQL Server. Eg: SA.
If you have to use Windows Authentication, there is a seperate method :
For windows authentication, you will have to add your Admin login of BI Server to the SQL Server Security logins group (For Eg: If BI Server name is BID and the admin login for this server is BIDADM, you need to add BIDADM to Logins/Users group of SQL Server and also for the specific database).
    d. Password : Anything.
    e. Con Env : MSSQL_SERVER=<sql server name> MSSQL_DBNAME=<database name> OBJECT_SOURCE= DBO.
    For Example:
    MSSQL_SERVER=ps14apollo MSSQL_DBNAME=PROJECTSERVER_REPORTING OBJECT_SOURCE=DBO
Here ps14apollo is my SQL Server name. Similarly ProjectServer_Reporting is my database name. DBO should be the Object_Source for most of the SQL Server dbs. I think it should work in your case as well.
    f. DB RECO = select or let it remain unselected.
    g & h Max Connections & OPT Connections = 0, for unlimited connections.

  • How to create file type source system connection

    Hi All,
I have to load data from Flat files , but when i checked the source system connections File type source system connection is not present. Please guide me how can i create the same.
    Apoorva

    Hi Apoorva,
Goto RSA1 -> Source System -> Right Click on File Folder .-> Create -> Logical system Name as FLAT FILE -> Source system name is the description for this source -> Enter.
Once it is created you can right click from that file and check whether it has created properly or not.
When u r moving the objects which are created under this source, the same flat file source should have been created in the target system also. And check for the entry in the target system table RSLOGSYSMAP for the flat file when u r moving the flat file objects.

  • Create sap-source system in netweaver

    Hello,
i want to create a R/3-(4.6c)-source system in my Netweaver-BI (2004s), but I have problems with the connection.
For the connection i created in the Netweaver a new destination and a user "User_A" with the profile "S_BI-WX_RFC / Business Information Warehouse: RFC-User in Warehouse.
In the R/3 I created a user "User_B" with the profile "S_BI-WX_RFC / Business Information Warehouse, RFC-User Extraction"
After creating the Source-System in the AWB with the destination and the 2 Users, I have to Log-On as an administrator in the R/3. After Log-In comes the message "User already exists in source system. Only continue if Profile and Password Are Correct."
Then I have to create the Destination in the R/3. There I fill in the "Logon"-Part my "User_A", but then I get the alert:
RFC user logon failed. Check the connection. Message no. R3 077.
Diagnosis: You tried to logon using the RFC user. This action failed.
System response: Name or Password not correct
But I'm sure that I made no mistake with the password.
Has anyone an idea what I did wrong?
    Thanks
    Malte

    Hi,
Generally we maintain the Destinations and userids in both systems first, and then create the source sytem in AWB of BIW.
Have you created the Logical system names in both the systems ?
Have assigned the client to the logical system name to client in both systems?
Have you mentioned correct client in the destinations?

  • Restoring the source system connection in BW

    Hi all,
I’ve been trying to upload data for 2 of my infocubes, and the extractions are bouncing. The message in R/3 is told me to check the connection. The RFC are fine.  But when I tried to restore the source system connection (RSA1 in BW), it sent me the following error messages:
1.-  Basic type ZS 118 does not exist.
2.-  The following error in the source system:
3.-  Incorrect IDoc type ZSAB023 in the ALE definition of the source system.
The description in each error is:
    Error #1:
    Diagnosis
IDoc type ZS 118 could not be found.
    System response
    Procedure
Please enter an IDoc type that exists.
    Error #3:
    Diagnosis
Incorrect IDoc type ZSAB023 in the ALE definition of the source system.
    System response
Error when sending data to BW.
    Procedure
Enter IDoc type ZS 118 .
They told me this IDocs are created automatically by the connection. Is that true?
How can I fix this, so that I can restore my connection and do the data extraction?
    Thanks a lot
    Regards,
    Vic

  • Source system connection error

    Dear BW Experts,
Now, i am in a critical situation, that the source system giving error in the quality system. So unable to extract data for testing.we have tried a lot getting any solution.
But now planning to connect the sand box system to the bw quality system.
The confusion is that if the sand box is connected to the bw quality system, then can i use all the developed objects(infocubes,ds objects, multi providers etc) which i had created before or design and activate all the objects again for the new source system.
If any body attended this type of issues earlier, please suggest me how to proceed....
    Thanks & Regardas
    Debasish

    Hi,
u can connect ur bw quality system to ur sand box.
but u have to reimport all requests from Bw development to bw qualty.
Imp. u have to delete Source conversion routine before importing request.
    Steps will be same like
    1. replicate data source.....
    2.....
    etc..
