Creating portfolios & forms in Acro 9 Pro

I currently create PDF print templates and have resulting forms printed manually, stored in a binder and completed by hand by users. (All done in Acrobat 3d (V7.1)
It looks like I can automate all of this BY UPGRADING AND using AAPro 9 by both creating electronic versions of the paper forms using the new Forms Designer, storing the resulting electronic forms in a Portfolio thus enabling users to fill out forms electronically "inside" each portfolio. I can then distribute portfolios TO USERS as though they were binders.
Is this how it works? Be obliged for any advice.
Also, can I password protect portfolios (even better, documents inside portfolios)?

I have the same question...can you password protect a portfolio in Acrobat 9 Pro? Did you ever
find out?

  • I want to create a form in Acrobat XI Pro, but if I try to do a new form, it opens Forms Central.

    I don't want to create a form in this application since it is going away.  How do I get around that?  Is there some way to turn off that option so I can create the form directly in Acrobat Pro? !

    Thanks!  That will help.  I didn't want to start to recreate this form in another app.  It is one I created in Live Design before we upgraded and I lost that app.  Now I cannot edit the form anymore so I need to start over.  This way I can just re-create what I already had.

    Created PDF form in Acrobat XI Pro, but HELP fields disappear when I save FCDT file to PDF. Please help. Thanks!

    I am not aware of a field type "Help" within a PDF form. I do not see it as a form field that can be added in the form edit mode.
    Forms Central forms do not support all the features of Acrobat forms.
    Are you talking about the "Tool Tips" or a hidden field that only shows when one enters a field and is hidden upon exiting the field.

  • Created a Form in Acrobat 9 pro and in LiveCyle. Images are blank in Acrobat Reader !!!Can you Help?

    I wrote a manual using MS Word on Vista 64 bit
    I have images in the manual.
    When I open the File in Acrobat 9 Pro, the images are displayed.
    BUT, when I opne it in ACrobat reader, the images are black boxes !
    Would you be kind to help me solve this matter?

    The boss used the Mac Preview app to fill out the form. Make sure that it is filled out using either Acrobat Pro or Reader to ensure you can use the output.

  • Cannot save form although I've enabled the rights using Acro 8 Pro

    I created a form in Acrobat 8 Pro (using the 30 day trial, trying to see if I can do it first as suggested I can before I buy). I prepared the form in the design mode, I enabled it with save (and other) capabilities for Reader (under the advanced menu), but when I test it by opening it in Reader 6.0 (latest version I have), I am not able to save it.
    Do I need to have a later version of Reader? My customers likely won't.
    In reader, I type into it and get the pop up telling me I cannot save anything typed into the form, etc. etc. I try to click the SUBMIT and PRINT buttons I enabled while in Acro 8 Pro, nothing works.
    Have I missed a step ... or 5????
    Would like this capability, cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work! I would buy the software if this was possible, and can make good use of the 500 and under document rule in the EULA.

    I created the form using Live Cycle Designer b/c that was how Adobe prompted me to create INTERACTIVE forms that would be able to be assigned privilges. From your comments (Steve Foxall), it seems I do have the option but didn't take it. I will look into that also.
    Aandi - I set up the submit and print through the Designer wizard-system and provided an email address (which works when I open the document using Acro 8 PROFESSIONAL, but not READER).
    I have tested it in Reader 7 and 8, it works in both. But not 6, it seems. Same form, no changes. Hmmm.

  • Creating forms in Adobe 9 Pro

    I just purchased Adobe 9 Pro. If I create a form in Adobe 9 Pro, will the person I am sending it to be able to fill it out if they only have Adobe Acrabat Reader?

    You can cut paste form fields between forms and the calculations will copy over.
    You could also write the calculations as a document level function that has the needed values pass as a parameter of the function and the function returns the result of the calculation. You can then insert a form that has these document level functions into another form and the functions will become document level functions of the new form and you can then delete inserted page(s) and retain the document level functions.
    The document function could be:
    function BSA(nHeight, nWeight) {
    // compute the BSA index
    nHeight = Number(nHeight);
    nWeight = Number(nWeight);
    return Math.sqrt( (nHeight * nWeight) / 3600 );
    } // end BSA function
    The calculation for the 'bas' field then could be:
    event.value = BSA(this.getField("height").value, this.getField("weight").value);

  • Can Acrobat Pro Extended create "flexible" forms?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a form using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.   I need it to be able to add additional sections of the form, or add/subtract space in a text box, based on the input received by the person filling out the form.   Can it do that?
    For example...let's say I'm creating a job application, and I want the applicant to be able to add more "Previous Employer" sections if they need to, or on a separate question, have as much room to write in a box as they need.    Can I set up the form to accommodate these requests?  If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Janice

    I believe it can be done with the included Livecycle form designer but you'd want to check in that forum.

  • Issue with Submit a form in Adobe Acrobat pro XI

    I have created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and am using a submit form button.  I want the body of the email to display a html version of the PDF, however, instead it attaches the file as a *.tmp file and does not show up in the body.  What am I am missing?  (also, outlook blocked access to the file and claimed it to be a potentially unsafe attachment, but trying with other e-mail editors i still had no luck)
    Also, is there a way to do this in javascript? if so, how?
    (I would like to know how to do it with and without javascript if available - im learning)

    not really, someone else mentioned that it could be done and they said they saw it before.  I've been beating myself up for a while trying to figure out how to get it to happen.   Is there an easy way to get the content of the pdf form into an email body with plain text when pressing a submit by email button?
    Such as...
    <label name>: <txtfield content>
    First name:  <txtfield content>
    ...etc..

  • Ability to edit a form created in Forms Central

    When I open a form created in forms central in acrobat pro XI, how can I get permission to add a watermark?  The system says I do not have permission to make the change.  That makes sense, but can I save it in Forms Central with a password that would allow me to further edit it is Acrobat Pro XI?  Is there an alternative solution?

    Hi;
    This FAQ describes how to edit a FormsCentral PDF in Acrobat: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3661

  • Troubles creating a form with Acrobat

    I have created a form with Acrobat 9 Pro. However, when it is brought up with Acrobat Reader, the following message appears:
    Sending data files by email: Please note, this form contains an email submit button. Clicking this button will email a data file... However, the form itself will not be sent. Remember you cannot save a complete file of this form with Adobe Reader 9.
    When the submit button is clicked, the following message is posted on a popup window.
    Operation not permitted.
    Here's the link to a form I am trying to get to work. It works fine if I use the Pro version, but the Reader version doesn't want to allow the form to be sent. http://www.drugfreedekalbcounty.info/pdf/interventionscholarshipform.pdf
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    It may have been improved with AA9, but at least up through AA8, Acrobat required the use of MAPI on the machine to deal with e-mail. If that has changed, then the other recommendation to use extended rights might meet your need. There is a 500 use limitation for the extended rights (more requires negotiation with Adobe). This may be a limitation that changed with AA9 Pro Extended.
    The rights are not needed if the data file is sent and not the whole PDF. There is no need for the whole PDF since the data file can be opened in the original form document - giving the same result. Your observation that it works in AA9 for e-mail is making the assumption that everyone uses AA9. That is a dangerous assumption if you are developing a general use form. You should assume folks have back to AA7, or even AA5 (like I have on this machine). There are still a few that check in here on occasions with AA4. I have not seen an AA3 question for several years. Thus backward compatibility may be an issue, depending on your client base.
    The cleanest way to work with forms is to submit to a web script. Then there is no question about the end result. The use of web scripts is even recommended for online html forms for much the same reasons. I was giving a heads up so that you have considered possible users that do not have the newest and best, assuming that the latter resolves the e-mail issue.

  • EMail completed form in Acrobat 10 Pro

    I created a form in Acrobat 10 Pro with an EMail button. The problem is, when it sends the email, it sends a complet copy of the form in editable format. All I want it to send is what the form would look like when you print it and not be able to edit it. How can I do that.

    You can add a signature field and have the user's use the digital signature to sign the form and as part of that action lock the fields
    Or you can add JavaScript code to lock the fields before emaiilng the PDF.

  • After I create a form can I optimize (shrink the size) it?

    After I create a form (using Adobe X Pro/Live Cycle) can I reduce size of the form before releasing it for general use? I know how to optimize a pdf I fill in... this is before that, while the form is being created... The form I created is just over 1 MG and our procurement system doesn't allow attachments that size (and the user base isn't that Adobe sophisticated to be able to optimize the form on their own).
    thanks
    Mark.

    If you are using LiveCycle (Designer), you need will need to ask in the LiveCycle forum. However, for Designer forms you have a container of XML elements, not really the original PDF. So I do not think that any reduction can be done in Acrobat.

  • Create PDF form sancer show "IsCapAllowed"

    Why I use create PDF form sancer, my Adobe Pro XI will show "IsCapAllowed", and then show "Runtime Error!" and termination, please support.

    Hi ngai_951127,
    Are you able to scan using the software included with the scanner, or does this error only occur when you scan from Acrobat? Have you been able to scan from Acrobat previously? What OS and version of Acrobat are you using? So many questions, I know!
    Please make sure that your scanner driver is up-to-date and appropriate for the OS that you're using. And, if the error persists, you can try repairing your Acrobat installation.
    Let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara
