Creating watermarks in photoshop elements 8

I would like to know how to create or access watermarks in pse8. I don't really know where to begin. I want to add or create a copyright notification to my photos. Please help.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
I don't know if PSE8 has a built-in tool for watermarks, but here's a way to create one with an embossed look:
1. Create text. To create the copyright symbol, hold down <Alt> and type 0169 from the numeric keyboard pad.
2. Layer Styles > Bevels > Simple Emboss
3. Layer Styles > Visibility > Hide
4. Make further adjustments in Style Settings.
5. Lower the layer's Opacity if needed. My top example has 100% Opacity. The middle has 30%.
Try other Bevels for different looks.
If you want plain old text, simply create it and lower the layer's opacity as in the bottom example.

Is there a way to create actions in (or for, other than Photoshop, CS3, 4, 5) Photoshop Elements 7?

You can certainly create actions for Elements (just make sure you don't include steps, like a history snapshot, that PSE can't do), but you can't create them IN elements, only in photoshop.

  • Creating Clipart in Photoshop Elements 9

I am new to Photoshop Elements 9 and am trying to turn a logo that I personally designed into clipart.  I have the logo saved as a jpeg file in my documents folder on my Mac.  Can anyone tell me the steps to follow to accomplish this?

If your logo is saved as JPEG file, Open WORD, for example, go to Insert>picture, point to the location, and resize to suit.
If you need the logo on a web page, for example one created in Publisher, you can follow the same drill, but the background will show. In order to avoid this, save the logo in a file format that supports transparency.
In any even event, buy the program and we can help you as you go along.

  • Will Lightroom find and include/manage albums created previously with Photoshop Elements 11

I have been using PE 11. I had to "rebuild" my computer after a hacking attack and in the process I lost my PE 11 program but of course still have all the photos and albums which were filed and processed by that program. My question is, will Lightroom be able to recognise and include
those images? Will it be a seamless transition?

Hey tom72photo (or is it tom61photo?)
I just re-read your original statement carefully
and in the process I lost my PE 11 program but of course still have all the photos and albums which were filed and processed by that program
You don't have the program any more? You should be able to download it at no charge from Adobe. But the important question is: do you have the PSE 11 catalog file? I think you will need both for the command File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog to work. It's not sufficient that you have the photos, you need to install PSE 11 and also have the PSE catalog file.

The video mentions using Option+G on Mac and Alt+G on Windows to create the copyright mark. Control/Ctrl+G is not going to give you a copyright mark.

  • Watermarking with Photoshop Elements 10

I am trying to watermark some of my photos, I have learned to do them individually. I have also learned to do them with the "process multiple files" , however I have tried over half of the fonts, and even at 72 they are too small. Some of them you can barely even see! Does anyone know why? Is there anything I can do to make it larger? It doesn't do any good to watermark it if it can't be seen....HELP please???

    Hi,
I just tested the Process Multiple Files method of adding watermarks and found a couple of things:
    1. The resulting files (jpegs) are quite a bit smaller even if you do not request a file resize or file conversion. For example, one picture went from 1319 KB to 283 KB.
    2. The color I chose for the watermark was not saved anywhere that I can find, and I do not remember what color it was (a light brown, I think). As I used 25% opacity the nicely discrete watermarks do not have a single pixel that I think is my chosen color.
    3. I now understand that doing this edits and saves the jpegs and does some lossy compression. I would imagine that any method of watermarking a jpeg would do the same. BUT I wish I could control the amount of compression.
    4. Being error-prone, using my test files, I redid the watermarks, this time with 100% black text (same font and size, as preserved by the dialog, a nice touch). The 100% black text overwrites the 25% brown text nicely. And, that 283 KB file is 284 KB (could be a rounding error in Windows Explorer -- using Windows XP Pro).
    5. Other than Bottom Left, Center, and Bottom Right, you can't specify how far from the margins the watermark appears. Because of this, I'm inclined to try the "Brush" technique -- or one of the free downloads.

  • Using the Logo you create on a photo in adobe photoshop elements 13

I need to know how to use a logo that I created in adobe photoshop elements 13... I have a photography business and I need to know how to copy it to my photos for me to post....Thanks in advance!
(I am new to this software as of today!)

It's important to eliminate the background of the logo so that it is "transparent". It would help if you post it here, but try this and let us know how you make out:
Save your logo to disk and open it in PSE Editor (expert tab)
Drag the padlock on the background layer (in the layers palette) to the trash can in order to unlock it
Set up the magic wand tool with tolerance=32, contiguous unckecked
Click on  background and hit delete on keyboard. ***see below
Save logo via File>save for web>PNG 24, transparency checked, .in folder on desktop
    Close PSE
Start from scratch with a picture
Open your logo from step 5, and drag it onto the picture (or copy/paste). It will come in as a separate layer in the layers palette.
Position and resize to suit with move tool.
If the background is a solid color, then the magic wand tool should work. However, if it is a complex background, then you will need to use one of the selection tools to select the foreground (i.e. logo).
Again, the point is to remove the background and save the logo in a file format which supports transparency.

  • Using photos from iphoto in adobe photoshop elements

I'm new to the mac world. I do a lot of casual digital photography. I like to edit pictures and create things in photoshop elements.
I'm trying to make sure I'm opening photos from the correct folder in the iphoto library.
I think either using photos in the modified or original photos is the proper way? Any input.
Also, can I create new folders within the iphoto library (finder side) to better organize my photos? I had pictures broken down by month on my pc and iphoto seems to only group by year. It makes locating the proper picture in photoshop elements easier if the pictures are broken down by month.
I know I can use folders and albums within iphoto, but those catagories don't show up when trying to open photos in elements.
    Thanks for your input!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There ias a caveat to using PSE with iPhoto. It is: if you create a layered file or do edits that causes PSE to want to save as a .psd file you must either flatten the file and force PSE to save as a jpg or do a Save As to the Desktop and import the new file. Subsequent edits to that new psd file from within iPhoto like Terence pointed out can proceed normally.
Using 2 Image Editors in iPhoto
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and a 3rd party editor without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected the 3rd party editor as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". Then when you Control-click on an image, you can select "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu to edit in your selected editor.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can files for older versions of Photoshop Elements be deleted

I am running Windows 8.1 (64-bit Version). I recently purchased and successfully downloaded and installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 13. Prior to installation, I de-installed Photoshop Elements 12. I had previously owned Version 10 and 11 which have been de-installed several years ago.
I just noticed that the ProgramData/Adobe/Photoshop Elements folder on my Windows 8.1 system drive, there are at least 1 gigabyte of files still left under subdirectories for 10.0, 11.0, 12.0.
Also, under the Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Elements 12 Organizer, there are over 700 megs of files still remaining. These files are very similar to what is stored in the Program Files/Adobe/Elements 13 Organizer folder that was created during the Photoshop Elements 13 install.
Question – can any of these files associated with the earlier version of Photoshop Elements (12,11, and 10) be manually deleted as it seems like a waste of space for potentially files no longer used.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Without Reboot?

    Hi,
I am trying to create a Virtual Photoshop Elements package with AppV.  When running the AppV sequencer, I am unable to reboot the computer.  It seems that Photoshop Elements 8 Editor requires a reboot to run.  Without reboot I am getting the following error:
Licensing for the product has stopped working.
This product has encountered a problem which requires you restart you computer before it can be launched.
    Blah blah blah
    Error : 147:21
Is there any way at all I can get around this without a reboot?
    Thanks
    Rosy#55

That helped a lot, thanks!  I now know that the issue is with the FLEXnet License service needing a reboot and not running while sequencing.  I now have a workaround (which violates all best practice of sequencing, but it seems to work) to allow me to sequence it, but now have a new question.
I found that if I install, then uninstall Photoshop BEFORE sequencing, I can perform the required reboot to allow the FLEXnet License Service to run.  Once it is running, I can the successfully sequence the virtual application without error.....a very dirty way of doing it, but it seems to be the only way at this point.
Now for the next question, is there a way to install the FLEXnet License without installing the entire Photoshop application?  The reason I need this is because the error comes back when I deploy the virtual copy of Photoshop to a computer with no FLEXnet License service running.  So, if there was a way to install this service on computers, either by pushing it out or even installing it into my images that would be great.
    Thanks
