Creating Whole Audiobooks in iTunes

I've ripped the CD's of an Audiobook into iTunes. The book is 24 CD's long and has hundreds of separate tracks within it. In the 'Info' section for each track, I've clicked on 'Options' tab and set 'Media Type' to Audiobook. When I click on Audiobooks in the iTunes media menu all the tracks just appear a one long messy list rather than a single book I can click on and navigate.
Also, in cover flow - all of the separate 24 discs appear seperately.
Is there anything I can do to improve this situation?
Thanks
Gareth

I'm pretty sure that's haw it works on a pc. On a Mac I organize myq photos in iPhoto. When syncing my iPad, under photos, I see a list of all the albums I have in iPhoto and I can choose which albums I want synced to my iPad.
I'll assume it works the same way on your pc. Select the main photo folder under photos in iTunes on your Pf. I'm expecting you will then see a listof the folders you created so you can choose which ones will sync.

How do I download only selected audiobooks from iTunes to my iPod.? I don't want to download the whole library..i have an iPod classic and Mac laptop with the latest ios.

If you check songs, simply sync the entire library.
But I highly recommend (and it is far simpler) to create a playlist (or multiple playlists) and select only that playlist to sync.
    Leave everything checked.
Then simply add/remove from these playlists and sync away.

  • Ripping Audiobooks to iTunes

I am finding copying audiobooks to iTunes and then into my iPod to be rather confusing and not terribly intuitive. I am trying to copy audiobooks borrowed from the library to iTunes and then to my iPod for listening to on long drives cross country.
Is anyone willing to offer any advice?
    Simple example:
    1. I pop disk one of a set into my drive.
    2. iTunes launches and in the main, not Source, window are three columns filled out: first column has numbers 1 to 23, the second has Track 01 to 23 and the third has the Time for each track. The Source window shows, among other items, the Audio CD I just popped in.
    3. After choosing the preferences for importing, what is the best choice for the next step?
If I go to File > Import, then navigate to the Audio CD, I get a list of the tracks on the Audiobook CD, but I can only highlight one at a time, so I presume this is not the way to go as it would requiring a separate File > Import action to import each and every track...a major time waster.
Another possibility I see would be to create a New Playlist which would appear in the Source window. I could then do a Select All of the Tracks in the iTunes main window and drag and drop them to the new Playlist.
Another possibility is File > Add to the library.
Which of these would be best??
    Thanks,
    bob

  • I am having Trouble adding Audiobooks in iTunes 12

Hello, I am having Trouble adding Audiobooks in iTunes 12.1.2.27 with OSX Yosemite 10.10.3, I downloaded 4 Audiobooks from Audible, Synced my iPod but the new Audiobooks do not show up in either the Audiobooks or Music section of my iPod after I sync my iPod, I do see them in the Audio section of iTunes but not on my iPod, any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you Michael

I do have an icon of my iPod but if I click on it it disconnects my iPod from iTunes.
If the iPod is connected via Wi-Fi, please connect with USB. If it's already on USB, or if USB is the same. log out or restart the computer and also restart the iPod, then try again. If it still doesn't work, see below.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take the action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

  • Create an audiobook MP3?

    Hello,
My wife has writen an independent short-story and we want to create an audiobook MP3 to post on our website. From what I gather, audiobook MP3 are somewhat different than a regular MP3 in that the iPod somehow "remembers" where you last were when listening. I know this works with podcasts.
    Is this true?
If so, how does one create such a file?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

ok, some searching online and a simple script does this.

    incase anyone else needed this...
    thanks,

  • Trying to create a script for iTunes

This is one of those questions that probably has a very simple answer unless you haven't worked with Automator or applescripts.
I found Automator, created a script for iTunes to change settings for audiobooks that I import from CD so that it remembers it's place in a "song", makes it so that it doesn't show up in shuffle lists, and doesn't have a gap between songs. Yippee for me.
I click on File, Save, name the file and save it and ... it doesn't show up under iTunes. It only took me 45 minutes to get it so that the scroll icon shows up under iTunes (I'm so confused now that I don't even know which thing I did caused that to happen) but my script I created doesn't show up.
I did find one place that said to place the file in (myname\library\scripts\programname) So I went to my home folder, find the library folder, found the scripts folder, and found only one application under there (Safari) but no iTunes. I created a folder called iTunes and saved my script there but ... it doesn't show up under iTunes.
I did try quitting iTunes and opening it back up and ... it still isn't there.
Is this even the right place to ask this question?

If it's not, then may I recommend MacFormat Magazine's own discussions forum -
    http://forum.macformat.co.uk/login.php?redirect=privmsg.php&folder=inbox
I found that this is full of 'Users' and more likely to be experienced using AppleScript and Automator.
Although I don't say that someone here won't be able to help. Just might take longer here or, as you yourself suggest, may need posting elsewhere on this site. Just speaking from previous experience of both sites

  • How to Create an Audiobook Folder -- Need Help

My MacBook Pro, which I just bought, has no Audiobook library in iTunes, which I had never used before, so it was completely empty of any files when I did the following import. I just imported two CDs of .cda files -- from the "Teach Yourself Romanian" set so that I could export them to my iPod Touch and learn Romanian on the go. However, the files went into the iTunes Music library. Although I went into the Get Info window and changed "Music" to "Audiobook" for the first .cda file, doing so did not create an Audiobook library in iTunes. So what do I have to do to create this library? I asked the guy who teaches the iTunes workshop at the main San Francisco Apple store, but he had never seen this problem and didn't know the answer.

I was able to answer this question after talking with Apple support on the phone.

You transfer the purchases to the computer you use to sync the iPhone.  You can use a thumb drive or an external HD, etc.  Read this: iTunes for Mac - How to copy purchases between computers:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1373

    Hi..
On your new iPhone tap Settings > Store.
Make sure Books is turned ON.
You shouldn't need to re purchase the book >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT1351 Only want to see sync songs/artists/albums on iPod touch (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it?

I only want to see on iPod touch songs/artists/albums manually selected for sync (not the whole library in iTunes). How to do it? Not sync titles appear in grey colour...

So if I understand you correctly, you want to be able to sync only certain songs, artists, and albums correct? If so you can configure this set up from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes as described in the Syncing Automatically section in the Apple support document you linked in at the top of the page.  Note that you cannot select only certain songs, but you can set it up to sync selected Artists, Genres, and Albums.
If the tab and its configurations are grayed out, it is likely because your iPod is set up for manual management, meaning the manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab.

How to reset your Apple ID password.
Go to iforgot.apple.com and type in your Apple ID, then click 'Next'.
Verify your date of birth, then click 'Next'.
You'll be able to choose one of two methods to reset your password, either E-Mail Authentication or Answer Security Questions.
If neither method works, then go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.
How to reset your Apple ID security questions.
Go to appleid.apple.com, click on the blue button that says 'Manage Your Apple ID'.
Log in with your Apple ID and password. (If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com first to reset your password with a password recovery email)
Go to the Password & Security section on the left side, and click on the link underneath the security questions that says 'Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to [email]'.  This will generate an automated e-mail that will allow you to reset your security questions.
If that doesn't work, or  there is no rescue email link available, then click on 'Temporary Support PIN' that is in the bottom left side, and generate a 4-digit PIN for the Apple Account Security Advisor you will be contacting later.
    Next, go to https://getsupport.apple.com
(If you see a message that says 'There are no products registered to this Apple ID, simply click on 'See all products and services')
Choose 'More Products & Services', then 'Apple ID'.
    A new page will open.
Choose 'Other Apple ID Topics', then 'Forgotten Apple ID Security Questions'.
    Click the blue 'Continue' button.
Select the contact option that suits your needs best.

  • How can i create a playlist in iTunes and have the playlist show up on iPhone 5

I painstakingly spent a considerable amout of time creating a playlist in iTunes on Windows, and now when I sync my iPhone, and open the Music app, I do not see the playlist at all.  When I select 'On this device' in iTunes, I can see the playlist listed, but a large number of the songs are greyed out, and do not play in iTunes.  These are simply songs I selected from my iTunes library into an iTunes playlist, and I sync'ed my iPhone saying transfer only selected playlists, etc, and now the playlist does NOT show up on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • How can I create an alert in iTunes store?

I would like to create an alert in iTunes store, such that whenever a new album of a specific group appears I will receive an email.
Is that possible? if so , how ?
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

If you go to the artist's/group's page in the store then you should be able to do it e.g. search for the artist in the store, and on the right-hand side of the results page there should be list of content categories that match that search, and below it a link for the artist
Click on the artist's name to go to a screen listing their items, and at the top right of that screen there should be a 'share' icon'
Click on that and on the popup you should have an option for 'alert me' (I haven't used it but I assume that it works).
You can see what alerts that you have, and remove them, by logging into your account via the Store > View Account menu option - on your account's screen there should be an Alerts link
