Creation of Multiangle SD DVD

Hi, I've authored a number of DVDs sucessfully with DVD studio pro but never a multiangle project.
I'm looking for some recommendations, and for some direction in the output from FCP via compressor to DVDSP in order to provide for 3 to 4 angle viewing. I am also looking for any hints on programming the angles to provide for as seamless as possible switching between angles. I apologize in advance for the size of this request, but I have a bit of a time crunch to deliver for a product. We're doing a music video project with all proceeds going to a number of Charities and we want to get this out very quickly.

  • Blu-ray creation causes windows blue screen crash

I am testing Premier Elements 7 for the creation of best quality DVD and Blu ray disks. Source is AVCHD 1920x1080i and I have managed to create a number of DVD's and one Bluray without problem. My latest trial creating a Bluray disk failed at about 98%, burn in progress with a Device Error message. This resulted in a blue screen windows crash. Far more worrying is if I re-insert that BD RE disk back into my PC to erase it and try again, it immediately prompts a Blue screen windows crash, so I guess the disk is ruined. I have previously used Premiere Pro, Ulead and more recently Cyberlink Power Director and Sony Vegas. The quality of the DVD footage produced by Premier is far superior and the Bluray output was also excellent. Cyberlink has proved to be a good package appart from the poor quality of re-rendered output. Sony Vegas Pro seems the only one to recognise raw AVCHD footage and opt not to recompress it!!! The Movie Studio version doesn't appear to do this, however, I have only had a limited go at the trials. I had narrowed my choice to upgrading to Adobe Premier, or the cheaper Elements 7 which suits my requirements for home movies, however, a major windows crash, which I tend never to get has got me running scared. Why o why is there not a burn to hard disk option for Bluray creation as for DVD? Has anyone experienced a similar problem - any ideas as to what I could try?

A BSOD situation normally indicates something is wrong systemicly with the computer. It can be either software (usually OS), or hardware related.
The first thing that I would do would be to gather all info on your system and list full OS, version, updates, etc., and all hardware specs. Something in those lists might provide a clue.
Next, I'd look carefully at Event Viewer, especially at the System and Applications tabs. Look for yellow warning messages at the time of the BSOD, and especially the red error messages. It might be easier to invoke a BSOD, so you will know the exact time and date of the crash. Study each yellow and each red message carefully. Many might not yield much useful info, but some might tell you a lot of about what is happening, and may even give you the cause. Please explore every link that is offered in each of these messages. They should take you to either the MS site, or to the site of a software, or hardware company. These will likely be where you'll gather the most important data.
Here's what to look for in Event Viewer:
Give us any details found there.
Also, see this LINK. The video is a bit long, but will furnish you with a lot of troubleshooting tips, and also tools from MS. Make notes of these tools and their use.
    Good luck,

  • Why Won't PreE Burn my Slide Show Project to a DVD?

I created a slide show using PE 6 and sent it to PreE 4. However, when I try to burn it to a DVD using PreE 4 it just quits on me? Then I can't even open PreE?? I really don't know what's happening?? My complete slide show is saved in PreE 4 and I can find it at  adobe\Premiere Elements\4.0\ project name. However, when I try to open it nothing happens. I thought perhaps my slide show was too big for PreE but that doesn't appear to be the problem. My saved PreE 4 slideshow is 8.29 MB and PE 6 slideshow gives a play time of 56:43 Min after creation.
A standard  DVD is at 120 minutes and 4.7 GB
Can anyone tell me what the devils happening here or at least give me some direction to solve this dilemna.
    Thanks for any help provided.

The slideshow created in Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor exists there as a creation and goes no where until you output it to something else. If your goal is a DVD-VIDEO version of your slideshow and you want to use Premiere Elements to generate the DVD-VIDEO, before Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3, you had to output your slideshow as a file sized .wmv video and import that into Premiere Elements. The use of the .wmv limited the possibilities for further edits of the slideshow that arrived on the Premiere Elements Timeline as one whole video rather than individual photos. Further, there were those that questioned the use of the .wmv version for quality reasons. I never found that to be the case.
But, if you have the specific combinations of Photoshop Elements 5/Premiere Elements 3 OR Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 4 OR Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7, you obtain the perk of being able to send your Photoshop Elements slideshow to Premiere Elements in a non wmv form which can be broken apart allowing for further significant edits. The keys to doing this are:
    a. Specific sets 5/3 or 6/4 or 7/7
    b. Use of the Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor Output option of “Send to Premiere Elements” which then makes available the “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow” command in Premiere Elements (right click video on Timeline, select “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow”). If you had some mismatch of Photoshop Elements Premiere Elements versions, like 6/7, the Photoshop Elements Output option of “ Send to Premiere Elements” would be available, but once the slideshow got to Premiere Elements, the “Break Apart Photoshop Elements Slideshow” would not.
Immediately after the output is completed in the Media panel you will see:
    a. Folder containing the individual photo and video assets
    b. A file representing the intact slideshow in video form
On the Timeline you will see your intact slideshow video form.
The Time Stretch Tool is used to change duration. You can use:
    a. (less precise) The Time Stretch Tool Icon above the Timeline. Click that, watch your mouse cursor turn into a vertical bar with a cross (diagonal arrow and red bar) superimposed, then click on drag end of image.
    b. (more precise). The Time Stretch feature via right clicking the image on the Timeline, selecting Time Stretch, and typing in the duration.
    c. in either case, any gaps created on the Timeline are gotten rid of by right clicking the gap and clicking on the “Delete and Close Gap” pop up.
When you go to decrease the duration or when you are changing the duration of an image at the end of the Timeline, everything will be going as you expected. HOWEVER, when it comes to increasing the duration or changing the duration of an image in the middle of the Timeline, you will need to move the images to make room for the expansion and then close the gaps.
Before I go on to some other things, I should go back to the Media panel and its contents immediately after receiving the Photoshop Elements Slideshow. You can open the folder with assets (photos & videos) in the Project Media View. If you right click one of the files, select Time Stretch, change the duration of the image, the duration of that file will be changed and be reflected if you drag that file from Project View Media area to the Timeline. BUT, this will not change the duration of that image which is already on the Timeline.
There are so many other aspects of this that I will save for another time. One of the things that we could talk about is creating slideshow and the DVD-VIDEO slideshow all within Premiere Elements and bring into play:
Premiere      Elements’ Create Slideshow feature to set image duration OR transition      duration all at one time
Changing      the Premiere Elements default duration (5 sec) via Edit      Menu/Preferences/General
Pans & Zooms with Edit Menu/Effects/Presets/Horizontal and Vertical Pans or Zooms as well as creating Pans & Zooms with keyframing.
I am probably running into the Flash Player and Premiere Pro Forum space by now. Please focus me in on your specific issues and I will continue with my what works for me comments.

  • Best Settings for my dvd

I've been having problems importing a quicktime movie to DVDSP , so someone suggested i use compressor. Well I'm compressing the project straight from Final Cut Pro using the setting h264 to DVD Studio Pro. The Project is about an hour and twenty minutes, some titles from live type, chapter markers. Other than that it doesn't have a lot to it, but I returned after almost 24 hours and it is at 57% complete and says it has another 17 hours to go! Should I be using different settings when compressing? I'm not looking to do anything special to it in DVDSP, just make menus and burn it to a regular dvd.
    Powermac Dual G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

H.264 is the wrong format for a standard DVD.
    You're wasting your time.
MPEG-2 is what you have to use for standard definition video.
H.264 can be used for encoding high defintion video to be used in the creation of high definition DVDs not standard definition DVDs.

  • URGENT -NTSC DVD to PAL DVD

    Dear Friends
I have a specific question regarding the creation of a
PAL DVD. I am using DVD STudio Pro 1.5 and my editing program is Final Cut 3.0.
Do I need to recreate my (NTSC) video in Final Cut Pro for PAL?
Or can I change it to PAL in DVD Studio Pro?
The reason that I 'm asking is that sometimes my DVDs don't play overseas. This has happened to
me in France as well as Wales.
    Thanks so much.
    Mary

    Hi Mary,
If you need DVD's that ALWAYS play you need to convert your source material to PAL. You also need to create menu's etc. that are the correct size.
However if you just need 80% or 90% compatibility ALL standalone PAL DVD players will play NTSC discs (region coding aside). They output a signal with PAL color space and NTSC frame rate and resolution. Most PAL TV's manufactured since about mid 1990 can play that signal.

  • 3 questions: Time Warp, High Def, and DVDs

    3 questions:
    1. If I am wanting to slow down or speed up a shot how do I go about doing that in FCE?
    2. If I shoot in High Def, how do I make a video copy for people without High Def? Is there a way?
    3. In the past I have had some trouble with some DVDs being read in certain DVD players. Is there a specific type of DVD that is better all around?

    1. Modify>Speed
    2. Export to QuickTime Conversion and change it to a different format.
    3. This can be caused by many different things. The most likely cause is the type of media used. You should try this question on a forum for DVD creation, like iDVD or DVD Studio Pro. It's really nothing to do with anything that can be fixed in FCE.

  • Installed, licensed, and working Creative Suite CS3 fails.  How do I clean Adobe off my system for new installation?

I run Macbook Pro with Mavericks.  I have a licensed copy of Creative Suite CS3 installed.  It simply stopped working.  InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator close upon opening.  Tried repairing the installation, uninstalling, and reinstalling.  Didn't work. The reinstallation did no provide an opportunity to enter the serial number. Tried CS5cleaner.  Didn't work.  It left the applications installed and deleted the uninstall application.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The system requirement for CS3 is :
    Macintosh
PowerPC® G4 or G5 or multicore Intel processor (Adobe Premiere® Pro, Encore®, and Soundbooth™ require a multicore Intel processor; Adobe OnLocation™ CS3 is a Windows application and may be used with Boot Camp)
Mac OS X v.10.4.9; Java™ Runtime Environment 1.5 required for Adobe Version Cue® CS3 Server
1GB of RAM for DV; 2GB of RAM for HDV and HD; more RAM recommended when running multiple components
24GB of available hard-disk space to install all core components (up to 1GB of additional free space may be required during installation); custom installing select components requires less space
Dedicated 7,200 RPM hard drive for DV and HDV editing; striped disk array storage (RAID 0) for HD; SCSI disk subsystem preferred
    Core Audio compatible sound card
1,280x1,024 monitor resolution with 32-bit video card; Adobe recommended graphics card for GPU-accelerated playback
For OpenGL support: Some 3D features in Photoshop CS3 Extended require an OpenGL 1.4 capable graphics card with at least 64MB of VRAM; Adobe After Effects® supported OpenGL 2.0 card (NVIDIA recommended)
    DVD-ROM drive
Blu-ray burner required for Blu-ray Disc creation
    SuperDrive required for DVD burning
QuickTime 7.1.5 software required to use QuickTime features
Internet or phone connection required for product activation
Broadband Internet connection required for Adobe Stock Photos* and other services

  • Can I create recovery disks using my laptop HD as external drive?

My Thinkpad T420 hard drive crashed in a really bad way. I can't load windows (7) and windows repair says it can't help me. I removed my hard drive and put it in a usb enclosure and connected it to a different pc. I can see the recovery folder/drive and my data drive as two different drives in "my computer". What I'm trying to figure out is if there's a way I can create the Win7 recovery discs this way, through what is now an external hard drive. The backup PC I'm using is XP, but I can get another Win7 PC if that makes a difference.
    TIA!

    @Phil18...
I'll offer a few more thoughts.
The recovery partition you're seeing is meant to be accessed by software in the OS partition to enable creation of a Recovery DVD set, or, through a boot-interruption sequence to enable a direct-to-disk recovery of the OS partition. Since you mention that the drive has "crashed in a really bad way", I'm presuming that it doesn't boot any longer.
In this case, my recommendation to you is to contact Service and discuss obtaining a Factory Recovery Disk Set. There may or may not be a charge for this. Contact information is below. Once you have the set, along with a new drive, you'll easily be able to build up the new drive to the factory out-of-box state.

  • Toshiba Recovery Media Creator Error Code 020150-20-00000000 (Satallite L755-S5308)

We just received 2 - Toshiba Satallite L755-S5308 Laptops over the thanksgiving holiday from Best Buy and the first thing we normally do after powering up the laptops is to create our recovery disc sets to DVD's. However, both laptops are giving the same error message on both machines at the same point in the creation of the Recovery DVD Disc 4 when using the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. Please See Eror Message Below:

    (Error Code: 020150-20-00000000)
If you are getting this error message then you will not be able to restore your laptop factory software and operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)

You could create an image of the entire HDD onto another drive, but this can be a headache for a lot of users and would require specialized hardware and a HDD enclosure. As such, it's not a feasible solution.
Oh,come now.  You can buy 'specialized hardware' -- an HDD enclosure -- from a widely known online computer store for $12.99 with free shipping, and a spare plain old Seagate 500 GB hard drive (nothing very special about it, except that it costs more since the flooding in Thailand) running at 7200 rpm from a different widely known online computer store for $99.99 (shipping extra).  Seagate gives away its branded version of Acronis True image for free.  It is not that hard to use.   I believe the L755 has a 500 GB 5400 rpm hard disc drive, so this Seagate may make the laptop run faster under some conditions.   Creating an image of the laptop HDD onto this 2nd HDD mounted in the enclosure may take hours, but consider the only other alternative, below:
Anyone who thinks that solution is not feasible can just wait until their one and only hard disc drive fails or develops a software problem.    Without usable recovery discs, the machine must be dropped off or mailed to a service center.  Compare the waiting and the expense to have someone else solve that kind of problem with the effort and expense of preventing it.   If you don't mind being without your computer for a few days or weeks, go for the simple way.
By the way, even the best home-burned optical discs are prone to develop unexpected failures after they are created.  I've never had a factory pressed optical disc properly stored develop a late failure.  If these work out of the box, they work a couple of years later.   The technologies behind a home-burned disc and a factory-pressed disc are different.
Getting back to my original point, should your 1st HDD fail, and should you have a 2nd HDD with the cloned image of the 1st HDD, your recovery takes as long as it takes to remove HDD #1, installed HDD #2, and reboot your laptop, involving about 5 minutes of your time and perhaps a small screwdriver.  You can test whether or not your cloned backup works the same way, by installing HDD #2 and seeing if it works.   If you only have a single HDD, there is no good way to test your recovery media, since they overwrite your original HDD.

  • Premiere Pro CC crashe

Every time i drag the audio track to widen it in PP CC, it crashes with an error related to  "MediaManager\MediaManager.CPP". This doesn't happen in CS6.
Also, PP CC sucks because Adobe is dropping support for DVD creation and thus "MPEG2-DVD" presets are limited. Bad Move
All of my clients who i film shows for require DVD's to distribute to clients. Looks like i'll remove the CC versions and instal the CS6 versions for the life of my substription.

I can repeat the crash over and over again. I know it's not my machine because PP CS6 and all other CS6 programs run fine.

  • NTSC to PAL Quicktime pro

    Hi can anyone help please?
I used internal camera on macbook pro core 2 duo to take in video through quicktime pro. When I tied to import into DVD Studio Pro it says Pal setup can't take in ntsc video. But how do i get quicktime pro to take PAL video?
    Any help much appreciated

When I tied to import into DVD Studio Pro it says Pal setup can't take in ntsc video. But how do i get quicktime pro to take PAL video? As I understand it, you captured the video using the built-in video device and the QT Pro application in the "Device Native" mode. As such, I believe the default is NTSC DV with no option to change to PAL. You then attempted to import the NTSC video to DVDSP set up for the creation of PAL formatted DVDs, received an error message for your trouble, and are now asking how to force QT Pro to capture PAL video instead. Am I correct so far?
If so, believe their is no way to force QT Pro to convert video from an NTSC input device to PAL "on the fly." Have no way to test my hypothesis but assume Apple is using another "auto-adaptive" workflow here with no way to manually override the central problem. Optimum solution would likely be to attach a FireWire PAL device and selecting that device see if the newly captured content was indeed in the PAL format. If this is not possible or you must proceed with the content that is already on hand, would suggest the following as an alternative, albeit less satisfactory, solution.
Simply open the file in a conversion capable application and export it to PAL DV settings. While QT Pro can do this, I would be concerned about the algorithm it employs -- a simple drop frame approach to eliminate approximately 5 frames of data per second. Would instead recommend MPEG Streamclip (free) in this case. This application employs a slightly different approach. By using the "Export to DV" File menu option, setting output for PAL DV settings, and setting the "blend" option, rather than simply "dropping" superfluous frames, these frames are "blended" with an adjacent frame so that the data is not totally lost. In this case, depending on interframe vector displacement/differences, the blended frame will appear somewhat "fuzzy" when viewed on its own but renders playback more smoothly than it would by simply "dropping" the intervening data.
The resulting file should be able to be imported into a PAL DVDSP project without further problem. Or so I would assume. (I only did this once and was going in the other direction -- creating "tweened" frames rather than "duplicate" frame.)
