Creative Cloud - Does Adobe REALLY Care About Customers?

I hope the staff at Adobe are reading these forum posts.
First question: the following quote
As far as the future of CS applications, in his Adobe MAX keynote, David Wadhwani said, 'We have no plans' to continue perpetual licenses. We are not ruling that out in the future.
Just exactly what is meant by this statement? Is Adobe already looking for a back door if the Create Cloud doesn't pan out? I really would like to know what this means. It sounds ominous and dubious and it sends mixed messages.
As far as the Creative Cloud model goes, is this really a benefit to your customers? I can see it might make Adobe a lot of money (if you don't lose a vast majority of your customer base) but how does it really benefit your customers? Your loyal customers? The customers that made you the rich company that you are today.
Speaking for myself, I do not use all the programs that will be available in the cloud on a regular basis. During the summer when I don't have classes, I don't use some programs at all. But I have to keep paying whether I use them or not. If I stop paying, I will lose access to my software. How is that a good thing for me?  For the majority of your customers? You think because we pay a monthly fee that most people won't equate that we are having to fork over more than $300 a year? In some cases over $600 a year. And it never stops. How is that good for the majority of your customers?
Do I really need to have the latest software constantly? No, I don't. But you are now forcing the issue whether I want it or not. Forcing your customer to do something does not seem like you really care about me.  About us.
What about my students? We have hundreds of students that go through our Adobe software classes each semester. Every student told me they would not go with the Cloud, either because they don't have the money or they were going to protest Adobe's "money grabbing scheme" (one student's actual quote). The students sure don't think Adobe cares about them. If the students stop taking the classes because of the software access, then we start cutting sections. Does Adobe care about that? I'm sure no, but think about those hundreds of students each semester that will no longer be learning to use Adobe software.
Adobe is putting a stranglehold on its customers and the customers are going to say  enough is enough.  Perhaps new software (open source?) will emerge to take the place of Adobe. Perhaps people using InDesign will go back to QuarkXPress. Perhaps enough of these former Adobe customers will force Adobe to check their hubris and greed at the door. But maybe not. The world will move on, one way or another.
One thing I am supremely sure about is Adobe has got it really, really wrong on the Creative Cloud strategy.
BTW, you might want to read the following link entitled Adobe Creative Cloud:  Lopsided Legal Agreement. It is not pretty:

Nice sentiments, could not agree more.

I hope this occurs across the globe with students ("potential" future Adobe customers) whom may be hindered in their monetary abilities but not in seeing the truth towards what it being placed upon them by Adobe concerning the Cloud mirage. This is a great opportunity for educators to truly educate their students about Adobe.

  • Deleting files on Creative Cloud - does it really delete them?

In the absence of Creative Cloud Connection to sync files, I have been replacing files with new versions by simply deleting the old one and uploading the newer version.  Since they are the same file, obviously they have the same file name on my hard disk.
However, Creative Cloud automatically appends a number to the end of the new file.  Attempts to rename it back to the original name just cause the number to increment forwards or backwards to the next number.  It really seems as if the original file is still there, just invisible.
Presumably this limitation will disappear with the release of Creative Cloud Connection, but I wonder why it is there in the first place.  If it remains, it's going to be a real pain.  Will it result in the synced files on your hard disk also having their names changed, or perhaps even being duplicated?
In case any of this wasn't clear, here's an example:
Upload a file, let's say it's called Erik.  Now delete it from Creative Cloud and upload it again.  The new file will be called Erik 1.  Try to rename it back to Erik, and watch it change to Erik 2.  Further attempts to change it back to Erik result in it switching between Erik 1 and Erik 2 repeatedly.  The system will not allow you to rename it to the previously deleted filename Erik.

Deletion is a two stage process. First you Trash the file then you Permanently delete it.
In the same row as you used to Trash the file there is a drop-down combo box to the right. After trashing the file switch from All to Deleted and you will be able to Permanently Delete the file.
I will also investigate the issue you are describing in the last paragraph.

  • Does Verizon really care about the windows phones??

I recently bought the Nokia 928 and as a "tech-impaired" person I am really happy with it. This is my second smart phone and I find it much easier to navigate than my Motorola Droid 3.   My co-worker (who is similarly impaired!) wanted to update to her first smart phone and had visited her local Verizon store to browse the various phones.  All that was EVER mentioned to her or shown were various Razrs, the Samsung Galaxies, and of course I-phones.  She saw the 928 demo phone there but it was never even offered as a choice so she didn't ask about it.  When she saw my phone she asked my thoughts, and asked to "play" with it.  I showed her some of the things she could do that I have found to be not difficult.  Bottom line she decided she liked the ease of operation, knew she did NOT need Suri and thought the Samsung Galaxy S 4 had way too many features for what she would ever need. She went back to the store and they did not even have a 928 in stock.  They did order her one, but she said that I knew way more about what the phone could do than anyone there.  I told her to ask about the 25 dollar gift certificate available through the end of June that could be used for Microsoft apps, they knew NOTHING about that either.  When I bought my phone I asked the store rep who was helping me (in a different town) and she was also unaware of it; but at least she found out and helped me set up a Microsoft account and got the certificate onto my phone.  She laughed and admitted she really knew very little about the Windows phone set up.  It really does seem that Verizon just doesn't care much about this platform and does not give their customers this choice since they virtually ignore that it even exists.

Thats why I normally do not get involved with writing on message boards, especially corporate boards, too many company employees write comments like that on behalf of their office…and yes, cellular service and home communications services are a little more that a “soda” and yes, I do expect loyalty to be a two way street….end of thread, unsubscribed from this farce….

  • Does Verizon REALLY care about customer service?

OK, to be fair, I do realize that I've been attempting to make an order for a high demand product on a day when thousands of others are doing the same thing. But, I guess I expect a company like Verizon, one that boasts how cutting edge their technology and networks are, to be a little more prepared for the influx in website and phone traffic. It took, no less, than 2 hours to complete a pre-order transaction due to technical failures on both the web and phone support. Isn't this what my $30 upgrade fee is supposed to cover? Wasn't I told that the additional money I pay to upgrade is to ensure a "positive customer experience"? Well, my experience was anything but positive today. The website crashed 3 different times. I was disconnected at least three times, and when I received an autocall for a customer service survey, even THAT didn't work! Verizon, do you want to know the answer if my recent experience with customer service solved my problem? I'll tell you, the answer is NO. Do you care? I doubt it.
I'd threaten to leave as a customer, but unfortunately, where I live, Verizon is my ONLY option. I'm in a rural community and there are literally no other providers in my area. So I pay ridiculously high fees, for substandard service. I can only have successful phone conversations from the south end of my home, while standing near a window, completely motionless. If I move, call drops (even with good signal strength).
But I guess I should be grateful for the experience of being a Verizon user, and continue to pay them additional fees for the privilege of being one of their valuable customers.
While I am forced to be a Verizon customer due to my geography, you can bet that when asked by others what my opinion is of the company, I'll encourage everyone to make a different choice if they can.

  • Why does Adobe not care about its users?

I had tech support take over my computer but unwilling to help with adobe flash and reader because they are free. Keep in mind that I do have a trail CC, that I will not re-new. I waited for three hours, and when I asked if there was a cc similar that he could help me with all he said was no. I am in such despair.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite: New Choices for Customers

Adobe has announced the new Cloud-based model for software distribution, along with new terms for boxed product upgrade eligibility. Beginning with the CS6 releases, when they happen, upgrade pricing on boxed products will only be availble one generation back. There is a limited window to upgrade now to the current versions at a discount.
    See http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2011/11/adobe-creative-cloud-and-adobe-creative-suite -new-choices-for-customers.html

    Eugene:
Based on the current information we have (from the blog post), which may not be correct and which you should not rely upon:
There is some confusion about the word "discount." As used in the blog post, in general there are no "discounts" for upgrades, there is the upgrade price and there is full price. But, also in the blog post, there is a special "discount upgrade" if you choose to upgrade to CS5.5 today (prior to Dec. 31, 2011), which is 20% off the regular upgrade. However, Peter used the word "discount" to distinguish between upgrade pricing and full price. It's probably a good idea to avoid using that word there because of the potential for confusion.
I have CS5 InDesign in work. So I will be able to upgrade that to CS6 when it comes out at the discount price?
You will be able to upgrade to CS6 at upgrade pricing. Not the 20% discount, but it is "discounted" from the full price of CS6.
I'm still using CS2 Illustrator and Photoshop, for the little work I do in those programs, they're fine. But if I want to upgrade them to CS6 I have to pay the full amount of an upgrade, with no discount... or will I have to pay for CS6 in full for both of these programs?
You will have to pay the full price (not the "full amount of an upgrade," whatever that means).
If you elect to upgrade to CS5.5 prior to Dec. 31 of this year, however, then then you can pay the discounted upgrade price to upgrade to CS5.5 (well, CS5 since Photoshop CS5.5 doesn't exist), and then you can pay the CS6 upgrade price in March/April. So you can pay for no upgrades (full price) or two upgrades (one of which is 20% off).
At the moment I can upgrade CS2, photoshop and Illustrator for €240 each, to CS5. So wouldn't I just be able to do that now and then buy the CS6 upgrade at a much later date perhaps just before CS7 comes out?
    Yes, you can do that.
If CS6 has the tools to basically go "File>Export>Epub" and I get a fully working epub file without having to trash about in code afterwards or make complex tagging in InDesign, then I'll be buying it.
It looks like EPUB is evolving pretty fast, so even if ID CS6 fully supports what you want out of EPUB on Day 1, I bet you'll need to be prepared to postprocess it on Day 2. Or at least long before Day 200.

Have you seen this type of problem before? I think it could be a serious issue for anyone in a similar position.
No; but then, I've not had occasion to use TDM. I've been using firerwire drives for over 10 years, both FW400 and FW800, with no issues except a bit of instability using a B&W G3 machine.
TDM should be safe. Using cautious, manual copying of files from the Target machine to the Host machine should not result in unexpected loss of files or damage to the Target drive's directories. It should behave exactly the same as if it were an external (to the Host) firewire drive.
    •  I don't suppose there is anything I can do to 'put back' lost items from a separate Time Machine drive which has an up to date backup on it.
There is probably a way to do that - seems to me that's one of the reasons for a Time Machine volume.
On the other hand, if the Time Machine volume is rigidly linked to the now-absent OS on the original drive, there may be no way to effectively access the files in the TM archive.
I know that using a cloned drive would work well in this instance.
I have no experience with Time Machine, so perhaps someone who has will chime in with suggestions.
With the machine in TDM with the other machine, have you tried running Disk Utility to see if you can effect repairs to the drive?

  • Adobe Creative Cloud does not support Bootcamp by Apple IOS operating system, but does work with boot camp Win 8.1 why"

Adobe Creative Cloud does not support APPLE latest IOS operating system, but does allow Windows 8.1 to be accepted. This seems a shame to me, as
Apple IOS is the leader in graphics, photography. The advertising states it is usable under both APPLE IOS and Microsoft 8.1 windows operating systems. Adobe Support Chat Sooraj tells me on 02/19/2015 that i must buy two computers to have it operate on both operating systems. Adobe will not support apple's Boot CAMP allowing both operating systems.
i love the apple product and love the ADOBE Photoshop CC, but it simply does now work with an apple keyboard and a WiN operating system. .[email protected]  Adobe Creative Cloud

I have Mac mini and Macbook Pro 13". Bouth with HD3000. And I can't work at all. With Snow Lepard I had no problems. It's tiny problem in code. And such pain for lots of users!

If you have a problem with Adobe products, voice your issues with them.
It is the software developers responsibility to maintain compatability

  • Creative CLOUD does not work

I just got a new computer with windows 8 operating system...joined this adobe creative cloud mess.   Photoshop, which i joined for, is not even downloaded... Lightroom has downloaded and works, nothing else works.  I spent thelast two days reading all of the information about everything, and nothing works... all of these discussion forums, offer no answers, i want  the program to work, and i would not like to pay for days of troubleshooting, and your quick fixes that you have used in the past, i want it to work on my computer without having to take another college class and reading all of the previouis problems, because i had faith enough to join without looking into reviews on google, about how bad this service is.
This has been an awful experience, it is not even simple enough to just report issues and get a response, as i am spending my money on your product and it isnt working, i call for help, and you are closed for the holidays, but your system to take my money is not closed...That is very special.   Thanks for your blacker, than black friday.
I dont want a refund, i love photoshop, i need for someone to help me to make this work.  Can someone help me to make this work, and can i get the beginning date of my membership to be the day that the program actually works, at the same price that i have paid initially?

    Hello,
sometimes some of them behave like bulls in a china shop. Despite this negative news, you might be consoled a little bit, because I also had to do this experience.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
If necessary and for further questions and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.
