Creative Cloud pricing heads-up

I've just received an email telling me that until 29 August, the new UK price of the Photography (Lightroom and Photoshop CC) plan is only £7.49 a month.
Just thought I'd put it out there in case anyone was interested.

  • More Creative Cloud pricing options please

Something that confuses me with respect to the creative cloud pricing model is why there aren't more options? For example, why is it that only the entire "master suite" is available for $50/month, and not more affordable options that might allow users to select certain applications-- a la carte-- and create a custom subscription plan? Say I really only need Dreamweaver and Photoshop, and I like the idea of paying a subscription fee as opposed to one (huge) lump sum for the retail box-- seems it would be wise to accommodate such a need via the CC, no?
I know many artists and designers for whom $600/year is frankly cost-prohibitive, and who would likely get on board with some more affordable options available.

I think of the Cloud as a smorgasbord or "Hometown Buffet" if you will of product choices.
Product choices? You only have once choice — The Creative Cloud. If a person wants a smorgasbord, that person can get a smorgasbord. But that is hardly the only thing on a menu... Except with Adobe.
It's the wrong analogy anyway since with food you know you are leaving with nothing once you are done eating. With the Cloud you leave with nothing because that's the choice Adobe has made for us.

Obviously, you probably won't use all of them.  But they're there for folks who may want to try them.
How about letting the users decide that for themselves? This is some serious up selling going on. Everybody uses Acrobat PRO to send PDF's to print houses. Add just one other product to the mix and you might as well go for everything. This is not a choice. It's a forced upgrade to something more expensive that you don't need. And you don't get to keep a license.
And besides, trial versions are for people who want to try out programs.

Since I've been on the Cloud plan, I find I'm actually using more products now than I ever have before which enriches my skill-set.[..]
    Fair enough.
    Nancy O. wrote:
[...] I think that's what Adobe was counting on when they made the Cloud available at such an affordable introductory price.
No... Adobe is counting on you to only use Adobe products. It makes you dependent on Adobe products so you won't even pay attention to anything else that is out there. It's a dangerous thing to put your entire career in the hands of just one company.

If $600 per year is too much, you can still purchase CS6 on a perpetual license.
A lot of us have been upgrading our Adobe software for years... and would have continued to do so. This isn't only about the price.
With a subscription only model we lose our security of a normal license. We have nothing to fall back on if we stop our subscription. Either keep paying Adobe forever or lose the ability to open up the programs. This is unacceptable.
But still being able to buy a perpetual license, albeit just for CS6, is something we can agree on. CS6 is still a fine piece of software.

  • Creative Cloud Pricing Agreement Revoked?

I signed up for a Creative Cloud membership based on Adobe's promise of $29.99/month for a full year starting on 8/30/12. This was based on my ownership of Illustrator CS4. Now it sounds as though Adobe is going to go back on that deal December 31st. Is this true? Or am I misreading their notice?

That notice is not related to Creative Cloud pricing. It's for Creative Suite traditional upgrades and is aimed at CS3 and CS4 owners.
It's marking the end of Adobe's compromise offer shortly after the new "one version back" upgrade policy for CS6 was suddenly announced without warning in late 2011 - before CS6 was released.
In short, CS3 and CS4 owners - traditionally version skippers who would often wait 3 versions under the old policy until they upgraded - were going to be unfairly excluded from the CS6 upgrade pricing through no fault of their own, leading to a user backlash last year
    http://scottkelby.com/2011/an-open-letter-to-adobe-systems/
In response, Adobe temporarily relaxed the "one version back" policy for 2012 to allow CS3 and CS4 users to upgrade to CS6.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/faq/upgrade-policy.html
That temporary offer ends on 31 Dec 2012, which is what the email you received is all about.
From 1 Jan 2013, CS3 and CS4 owners must pay full price for CS6. Only CS5 and CS5.5 owners will be eligible for upgrade pricing.
I foresee lots of disgruntled posts from CS3 and CS4 owners crying foul next year when they decide that they will upgrade to CS6 after all - and then find out that it's too late and they can't.

  • CS5 to CS6 upgrade and creative cloud pricing

I dont understand adobe's logic with pricing of upgrades compared to the cloud.
I bought the cs5 master collection upgrade from a single suit at least in part because I assumed each subsequent upgrade would be about $800.  I skipped cs5.5 because it
    a) it was priced as a whole version number upgrade
    b) my core apps werent updated.
Now I come to upgrade to CS6 and find that I have to pay again for a single suit upgrade. There is no upgrade path from CS5 master to CS6 master.  That is a rip off to start.
I also find that even paying the full price on yearly contract its far cheaper to go with the cloud over the expected lifetime of the product: over 2 years its $1200.  The upgrade path I have available is around $1500.
How does that make the upgrade viable?
And finally having to post this here because there is no formal route to contact adobe sales via email. If anyone can provide one i'd be obliged.

I have had Adobe software for a long long time, and I decided to drop my perpetual licenses for the Creative Cloud. I upgrade every version anyway (more or less) so it's not a big deal for me price wise.
I also use more than just the Production suite software (Acrobat and Dreamweaver) so Creative Cloud sort of consolidates all of that.
My current experience is...the Creative Cloud is a work in progress. There are still features that aren't there yet, like the Creative Cloud desktop app, and some other functionality that's all coming sometime later this summer or this year. The online storage is nice. The website hosting is nice too (although I haven't quite got it working yet).
I do have access to other programs I didn't have before like InDesign and Fireworks, so I've found those interesting to toy around with. Over the years I'd occasionally get an InDesign layout from someone and be unable to do anything with it, so that does solve a rare problem for me as well.
I'd say if you qualify for the discount pricing (which means you're either a student/teacher/edu subscriber, or own an existing CS3, CS4 or CS5 suite) then the $29/month is awesome. Just do it. If you're looking at the $49/month price, maybe not so much.
If you are only an infrequent creative type and only do video/image/print projects occasionally, go with the month-to-month plan and you don't have to worry about getting stuck on the long term, and you only pay for the software whenever you need it.

  • Creative Cloud pricing - cost of adding additional applications

Our company has a few individual licenses to the cloud that have Photoshop, Indesign and Adobe Pro - I need to find out how much the total cost would be to add Illustrator and Dreamweaver to this as well. I was thinking this would be the 'complete' package but the pricing page does not have the list of applications this includes.  Thanks

The individual licenses can not be combined. You can go for CC team in which you can assign seats to users. The users can be changed by revoking the invite & re assigning seats.
CC for Teams are of two types.
1.Complete CC for Team (can be purchased online or by reseller)(49.99$ per month for an year)
    2. Single app CC for Team (can be purchased from reseller/sales)(19.99$ per month for an year)

  • Creative Cloud - pricing

    Ok - I have a team of 3 designers.
Two of us tend to sometimes have to take some of our work home with us.
One already is a satellite employee.
What would be the best and most cost effective option for us to take?
    3 individual licences or Enterprise?
I couldn't quite work out how much it would cost with the Enterprise licence for this configuration - and what the cost implications would be if we take on any more designers.
Can anyone makes this clearer for me what we should do?

    Hi Owen,
I think the team option will be slightly more expensive but more convenient (single rather than three separate bills, more storage space, more team-specific features, etc.). Licensing would work the same, each license is meant for a single user and can be used on two computers.
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/teams.html
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud.html
Typically the price difference is about $20 more per license per month.
    Hope that helps,
    -Dave

  • Can you buy Creative Cloud for a single month? Or do you have to buy the membership which lasts a year? If so can you cancel the membership after a month and only pay for that month.

  • Is the only way to upgrade PS from CS6 to CC is to buy creative cloud?

Can you no longer purchase the CC upgrade outright for photoshop? Is the only way now to get creative cloud and pay monthly?

CC has never been available for outright purchase.  CS6 was the last one offered on that model.  Going forward, all future releases will be offered only to Creative Cloud members.

  • I only use 5 of the Creative Cloud Apps... Is there a way I can downgrade and pay less?

I'm a film maker and photographer using Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC, Illustrator CC, Photoshop CC, Adobe Story and Lightroom CC
I don't use the rest of the programs that come with Creative Cloud and £46 a month is stretching me a bit at the moment. Is there a way I can downgrade so as to pay less?
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
The single app plans are £17.58 inc VAT each & the Photography plan (PS + LR) is £8.78 so you'd actually be paying more if you took out separate memberships for the applications you use.
    Thanks
