Creative Micro Ph

Hi, my creative micro photo (8gb) isn't connecting to the desktop. Every time time I turn it on, it sends me straight to creative logo and gets frozen. When I make it go to the Recovery Mode, it gets frozen when I click on reboot. When I click on Clean Up it gets frozen at that screen at scan disk. When I click on format (because I think there is a virus) , it freezes again! (Everytime it freezes, I put it in my Zen Micro Photo Speaker, and lets it charge and do its thing for about week each) PLEASE HELP ME CREATIVE I'M DESPERATE AND I DON'T WANT TO WASTE 250$ for nothing....

i am trying to download driver for my mps player it is the red creative micro 2004 i have windows vista and it says not supported can any one help me resolve this

You did not say if it is MicroPhoto or the black&white(just micro) any way I would say you need to update your firmware to plays for sure. It would be easiest to do the forware update on an XP machine if one is available. 2.2.02 is the firmware needed to make it useable on a Vista machine with windows media player . The firmware listed above is for the Micro not the MicroPhoto That firmware # is.3.0(for microPhoto) Read the requirements first you may NOT be able to update the firmware using a Vista OS ?? http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?

  • My creative micro is out of order!! He

Two days ago, my creative micro stopped working... i turned it on, and then, it stopped on the "zen micro" screen... since this time, it doesn't even switches on... i'm terribly sorry, because i don't know what to do...
thanks for those who can help me...

If you plug your Zen Micro into your computer or charger- does it charge? Do the blue lights glow?
If the battery is completely flat, the Zen will not power up. If possible, try charging and then repeat the Rescue Mode steps to Clean-up Disk and Reboot.
If the unit will not turn on or charge, you need to contact Creative Support. You may have a faulty battery.

  • Creative Micro Photo charging on a noteb

i've read something, i don't no where anymore, that you can't charge the Creative Micro Photo
on a notebook, because the usb-ports of a notebook or to weak for that, so you have to do that
    on a desktop-computer, is that true ?

    Hi,
No that should not be the case. Now thats not to say some manufacturers don't 'throttle' power usage when your laptop is not docked or mains powered to prolong battery life. But from a point of view of charging it shouldn't be an issue. As it takes approx 4 hours to charge a MPhoto chances are your laptops battery will not last through the full re-charge cycle anyway.
If you are looking at prolonged periods with out access to mains you'll probably find availing of the replacable battery facility and aspare battery or two fully charged before departure will be a much better option.
    Hope this hel

  • Synchronisation microsoft outlook and creative micro photo, a nice feature or no

how nice is the feauture "synchronisation Microsoft Outlook" on the creative micro photo
    or perhaps other creative mp3-players
what are the pro's and con's ? do you use it often ?
is it a reason for buying because most other mp3-players have it not ?

That is a Hard Dri've failure. Take it back to where you got it for replacement, or contact Creative Support for warranty.

  • Problems with my Creative Micro Zen hanging on the Creative Logo Scr

I've been having problems with my Zen and have sent the following email to creative but if any one has any suggestions etc on what to do could they please email me thanks
My Creative Micro Zen 5GB player has been hanging whilst using the player.
I followed the advice found in the manual and on the creative web site to reset the player by removing the battery and then reinstalling it. This worked on a few occasions.
However the player hung again and so I tried to rest it as before, when I replace the battery the player turned on and lights up with the Creative logo screen, but then hangs on the Creative logo screen, despite waiting to see if the player continued with the start-up, it did not and so then I tried resetting again, by removing the battery and reinstalling it.
However the player is still hanging on this screen and I cant get it move away from this screen. The player wont allow me to move away from this screen at all, so I am unable to carryout the disk clean up which was also suggested. When the resetting didn?t work, I tried taking the battery out and leaving it overnight and then replacing the battery, however the player still hangs on the Creative logo screen. This has been continuing now for three days.
I have also tried plugging the player into the power charger and it still hangs on the Creative logo screen. The backlight on the Zen Player lights up when the player first turns on but once the Creative logo appears on screen the light fades out. I have also tried recharging the battery to see if maybe the problem was a flat battery but this didn?t appear to work as it is still hanging. However the Zen does light up as it does when it charges normally. I also own a spare battery, which I have tried but the Zen player still hangs on the Creative Logo page.

I found the solution! I saw numerous posts saying that all you could do is send it back to the company, then I found this one:
    Hi All,
My zen has been down for the last week, hangs up on creative screen. I took the battery out and was able to get to the recovery mode but "disc scan" would not do anything(in limbo) and "reboot "met with the same result, nothing. If you want to talk to anyone at creative and are past your 6 month warranty window you have to pay $20 for the phone call. Well I decided to take matters into my own hands and spent yesterday morning researching old threads about this problem. I kept finding an uncommon fix. When you hold your power button on and replace you battery and the recovery screen starts up you wrap on the back with your knuckle, in my case I hit my zen face down sharply on my dresser. To my amazement the "Doobie Brothers" started playing and I have'nt had any problems yet. Evidently these systems have a hard dri've that hangs up. It may not work for you but it cured my glitch.
    Steve C.
It worked for me, but only after four or fi've tries. Good Luck!<IMG height=6 src="http://forums.americas.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>

  • Creative micro media explorer connection is

I recently upgraded the firmware on my zen micro to the latest 2.XX version on the website to make it Plays for sure compatible. That all went fine and the player is functioning well. It shows up in windows explorer and I can transfer files properly. WMP 0 & , creative media source, zencast and zen sych manager all recognize it as connected and transfer files. The only thing that doesn't function is zen micro media explorer that shows it as not connected despite the fact that micro media explorer starts up as soon as the player is connected. Already running the latest micromedia web update from the website. Wouldn't matter except that I cannot use the PIM functions that are only accessible through the media explorer. Tried to contact creative but they blew me off since the player is past warranty, despite the fact that their software glitch caused the problem. Seem as if the software doesn't support the firmware update..... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue. Upgraded the Firmware to the 2.2.2.0 version due to Media Player wouldn't cooperate, it does now. But then my version of Media Explorer says that it can't detect a device. I then downloaded & have been attempting the?Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB)(that comes with the "Plays for Sure" )?Have been trying to no avail to get that to install properly, only to be running in circles.
It'll start up looking like it'll cooperate, then it prompts For your Device to plugged in & turned on, then asks for which version of firmware is currently running, (Version 2 selected), then the prompt of "Setup could not detect any portable device on your system. Setup will now install the necessary drivers to enable your device to be detected."? Click OK to continue.
Then I get the prompt "Please remove any Zen Micro Devices before the installation"? I unplug my Zen Micro, click OK, prompt "Please reconnect the Device", I plug it back in...and continuous error prompt of "Setup could not detect any portable device on your system. Setup will now install the necessary drivers to enable your device to be detected."(Hello! It's plugged as requested)..and round & round it goes to no avail. Any Help?

  • Creative micro media explo

i have been trying for a week to get my creative media explorer to recognize my zen micro. I have updated firmware, removed firmare(even had the prob of my own computer not recognizing the updated firmware etc)updated the firmware for the playforsure that a mod suggested. I have now transferred all tracks/playlists back to my mp3 and at least half of the songs dont show up due to some licensing error. some were able to be re-registered and some were not. It this typical to have all of these struggles? Any suggestion on how to get creative media explorer to recognize it or what i may be doing wrong to get the tracks back on my mp3. I have already sent it in to creative once, so that is not an option. thanks in advance

thanks...if my computer recognizes the yahoo music engine that i use to dl songs, wouldnt windows media explorer notice it as well? I havent dl'e the playforsure firmware, but dont care to lose all of my files and have to add them back to my player..do you suggest i dl the firmware to see if that is the issue?

  • Creative Micro Case Lanyard???

I bought the black Creative Leather Case for my Micro and LOVE it except for the belt clip. I seem to remember that in the description of the case, it said you could "wear it around your neck". Where can I get a lanyard for this or is it just any old lanyard will do? If anyone has one and can help me, that would be great!!!

on the bottom of the Zen Micro there is a little slot for a lanyard. I believe you have to use one you own, because I have not seen one for sale from Creative. To use it you take the battery compartment off, put the lanyard through the two slots on the bottom of the unit, and slide the battery compartment back on. I've used it a couple times, but I prefer just slipping it into my pocket.

  • Creative Micro + WinAmp? Can I use

Can I use Winamp with the Creative Zen Micro?
    any plugins/mods?

Unfortunately it won't work with the PlayForSure firmware, it only works with the PDE v.xx firmware.
So if I downgrade my firmware to the original one that came with my Zen Touch then I shouldn't have a problem using the winamp plugin? If so, are there any disadvantages to downgrading back to the original firmware?

  • 20gb Creative micro

just a quick question as i'm still having problems with my Zen it still hangs on the creative logo ad wont do anything and now its making whirring noises - which i dont think is a good thing!!
but anyway reason for posting is to ask wether anyone knows if there is a 20gb mircrto zen avaliabe, as i've seen one on the web for ?69.99 but i didnt realise creative made 20 gb ones according to the pictures it looks like the 5gb zen that i have got!!
does jason or catherine know if they really exist or is this website pulling a fast one?
    marmite

thanks for the reply!! i heard of the 20gb zen but this one is definatly being marketed as a micro zen 20 gb so think either the website is confused!! or pulling a fast one!!
any ideas on what to do to fix my 5gb zen micro? i posted my problem under hanging on creative screen logo!!
also does anyone know whether creative allow you to upgrade a broken player instead of replacing it's i dont mind paying the difference?

  • Creative Micro Photo stuck at Creative scr

I went to use my device last night at the gym. The device when booting up will not load the os. It gets stuck on the Creative screen. Now the device will also not shut down. I have to pull the battery to shut the device down. Has anyone else seen this issue before? Is it possible that the device has gone bad some how?

Hi Waverider,?Having worked tech support for Creative I can tell you that the hard dri've of your player is probably defecti've. Have you tried the steps in the Recovery mode? Also I noticed that you use the player at the gym. Please make sure the player is not subjected to repeated shocks as this will damage the hard dri've as if you were to shock the hard dri've of a laptop computer. The micro is being discontinued due to the advancement of technology afforded on the newer players, not because of any defects of the player.
You may wish to consider a flash based player where the memory is stored on a chip rather than a moving hard dri've. They are designed for the acti've lifestyle ie: jogging etc... These would be the Nano, Nano Plus and the new line of Zen V players. Hope this hel

There is no best mp3 player, it all depends on what you need.
) Can't really say about the iRi'ver's or Creative's sound quality. There's hardly any difference. I just did a test with the same music and no EQ setting, and I didn't find any difference. Sound quality mainly depends on your headphones/earphones, then the bitrate, and the usage of the EQ. iPod does not have a customizable EQ. iRi'ver H320 has SRS and Wow effect but those settings drain your battery life like crazy.
    2) It is true, but it takes awhile to learn. Took my brother about 30 minutes to figure everything out. Check out www.misticri'ver.net for more information.
    3) FM Tuner depends on your headphones since that is your reception. I don't see much difference between my brother's H320 and my Zen Micro.
    4) What the ZMP has over the iPod Nano is the 8GB hard dri've space. OLED screen. But it isn't able to play music and photos at the same time. The iPod Nano has a 4GB flash dri've which doesn't have any moving parts, that means it can be shaken, bumped, take it with you during exercising, and the flash dri've won't get damaged easily. The ZMP has a mini hard dri've which has moving parts, the ZMP is not made to be used for running especially.
Here's something you should know about the iRi'ver H320.
-It is discontinued. I don't know if another version will come out. The H320 was supposely the successor of the iHP 20.
-The h0 cannot do what the H320 can. Not even the 20GB version. A lot of people on the misticri'ver forums would say it's just a dumb down version of the H320.
-In order to get the H320 to view movies. You have to flash the firmware to the international one. You don't have to do this if you buy an international H320. You will lose DRM management or pretty much you can't used any MTP or playsforsure services if you flash your U.S H320 to the international one. You cannot get this service back even if you managed to flash the U.S one back.
-It can only read Xvid encoded movies. They have to encoded a certain way at a certain bitrate. Reading the mistic ri'ver forums will help you out more on this since people have made programs that does everything for you automatically. The file size is usually small, a 20-30 minute video is around 60-80MB, possibly less. The movie may skip or lose it's sync with the audio, check the forums for more information. The H320 wasn't made to play movies in the first place. Also the average battery life for playing movies is around 4 hours which is similar to most PMPs out there. A guy managed to get 6 hours by playing the same movie in a loop.
-It beats any mp3 player I know in features. It can be used as a removable dri've. Has Line Out and Line In jack. Optional remote control. Built in Mic that records the format in .MP3 while Creative usually has it at .WAV. Supports Ogg Vorbis. And the international H320 (not the firmware) is able to support USB to Go and is able to power on the device. The U.S H320 can't power on the device, but it can still read some devices.
-You cannot play music and view pictures at the same time. I tried it, it won't let me.Message Edited by Shinryuu on -7-2005 0:44 AMMessage Edited by Shinryuu on -7-2005 0:45 AM
