Creative MP3 Players (Especially ZEN Touch 2) durability: satisfied?

Hello,
I'm willing to buy a ZEN Touch 2, it look so amazing!
However, what I would like to know more: durability!
Is the ZEN Touch 2 (Or any other MP3 Player from Creative) durable enough?
I'll still have the year warrantee, but I'll need to ship it in the US, it'll need to be shipped at another adress in the US, and then shipped back to me (I'm in Canada).
That'll be a though job, you know.
My first MP3 , an Archos .5 Vision, died on me when it ran out of batteries for the first time; strangely, I reloaded it, and it had trouble booting.
My second and actual MP3, Archos 2 Vision, has brokens contacts in the headphone jack... -___-
Well, it still work, but it's really annoying.
If you are a ZEN Touch 2 owner, please give me your feedback!
Thanks you very much!

Hi Gamex I have a Zen Touch 2 with GPS in the UK. In the first 3 weeks, it froze 3 or 4 times, and then finally died when downloading the Creative update to Android 2.2. You need to be aware that Creative Tech Support seem not to have yet caught up with the fact that they have a new type of MP3 player, and all the Knowledgebase articles they will refer you to are not relevant, as they deal with the older hard dri've type of player. It took me all but a fortnight of shouting to get them to authorise its return for repair/replacement, which is where it is currently. In addition, if you're going for the GPS model, advertised as 8GB, be aware it's capacity for music etc is a mere 4.gb, and any apps you download will eat into that. The way round this is to buy a big micro SDHC card (I got a 32gb one) which integrates seamlessly into the player. You can opt to put the apps on there if you so wish. That's the bad bit; the good bit is that it looks and feels great, and the touchscreen, while not as responsi've as some, is more than acceptable, to me at least. The sound quality is not as good as some other Creative players, mainly due to the fairly low spec earbuds supplied. Get some good ones, and the sound is fine, although strangely there is no equalizer facility. The FM radio, with RDS, gives quite astonishing reception on the move. You can import playlists from Media Player, but there is no option for crossfading, so you get a fairly significant gap between tracks. There are a fair selection of apps available, including an antivirus one (I see you were asking elsewhere about that) but you cannot access Android market; apps are downloaded from the Ziio website. Battery life is obviously dependant on what you are doing; wifi and GPS use will inevitably eat power before your very eyes. Using it for music was giving me around hours (less than claimed). Video playback (which is also very good) brings that down to around 4 hours. Overall I would say I was a little dissapointed with it, but that said having been without it now for nearly 3 weeks I realise how much I want it back, so it can't be all bad! Hope this helps? Regards Mike F

  • Comparison of Creative MP3 Players - How to Choo

Is there a comparison anywhere at the Creative site, or elsewhere online, where someone can compare the features of all the Creative mp3 players - at least by product line - to each other so as to make an informed decision concerning which one to buy. I'm not exactly a simpleton, but I have to admit that the sheer quantity of them is a bit daunting... I realize, for instance, that the Zen has a higher capacity than the Zen Micro, but how does one start comparing the Zen Micro to the Zen Touch, or to the MuVo models, etc...
    Thanks,
    JP

    I did find this:
    http://www.nomadworld.com/products/i...mchart_PDE.pdf
It doesn't include every model but it's an example of what I'd like to see.

  • Do ALL Creative MP3 players have Bookmarking capabiliti

I currently have a 28 MB MuVo but am looking to upgrade to to a newer model. Before I buy a new model I need to know the answer to the following question.
Question: Do ALL of the Creative MP3 players have the bookmark feature including the Zen models?
If all of them do not have this feature, which Creative models do or do not have bookmarking capabilities?
    Thanks for the info!

  • Post for happy owners of Creative mp3 players

Welcome in the island of the happy owners of Creative mp3 players! I open this post because I see in the forum that there are many topics about unsatisfied customers. I think that many people that is satisfied of these mp3 players don't go in forums, because forum are used above all to find solution at problems!Anyway I'm happy owner of a Creative Zen 6 GB And all works fine! All is perfect! And this player is really a little wonder! The battery life (I saw that there is a post about it here) is about 8 hours using player in normal use, with songs at more than 92 kbps.
I'm really satisfied! It is the best player that I got!My list of players began with the Zen Xtra 40 GB, after the Zen Sleek Photo 20 GB and then the Zen Vision:M 60 GB. I have the little and nice Zen Stone Plus too! All work perfect!

I posted about my zen experience allready, but my list of experiences just got a little longer so I'll recapI am a music freak. with a capitol K , my very first mp3 player wasnt even creative it was he weird kind with the disc that fits in the back. only held ten songs without the disk disk could hold twenty. then I got a real job and got my first creative mp3 player. it was nomad, and nomad was good. jump dri've lookin thing with a red power supply (case the battery goes into) it weas either 256 or 52, cant remember for sure. but it sounded pretty and held my songs, and was small enough I could take it to work without arousing suspicion.nephew found it (two years old, my own fault) and separated the dri've from the power supply still have power supply, cant find dri've. So I got a muvo v00 gig it lasted virtually forever, even went through a washer and dryer trip, and still played till about a month after it got laundered. when it mysteriously powered down. I upgraded to a v+ which I love. I have had it since june and its still goin strong, even went with me on a 3 day camp out, still works great.. only problem I had was the power didnt last till the end of the third day. but all three of these sounded awesome. the v+ still does, plus Ive put a couple episodes of "psych" on it for video entertainment. I recently took it to work with me and was stocking shelves in the cooler for a few hours (about 28-32 degrees) and I learned two things. . cold temperatures do adversely effect battery life, but not horribly, and 2. we have an anti headphone policy of which I was not previously aware. nevertheless it performs great even on the job. on a side note I put the brass or copper (not sure which) connector plate back on on my muvo v00. my cousin uses it now instead of her ipod I'm so happy.
cudos creative for making players that can go camping, and even withstand a full wash and dry cycle. (machine washing and tumble drying your mp3 player is not reccomended.)

  • Latest MediaSource Plugins for various Creative MP3 Players are now available for downl

Just went to the product support site. Guess what? The latest MediaSource plugins for the various Creative MP3 Players are now available for download. I am sure the latest plugins should have fixed several problems.
Don't forget to download the latest Creative MediaSource v3.30.2 too. Install the latest Creative MediaSource first before you install the MediaSource Plugins of your respecti've MP3 Players.
Note: According to the download site, the latest MediaSource plugins require you to have at least v3.20.57 of Creative MediaSource.

    Thanks micromouse
... but there's no new plugin for the original Jukebox
I've always had trouble connecting to MediaSource with my JB and was hoping for a new plugin to sort all my problems.

  • Creative MP3 Players and Car Au

    Hello,
I'm a newbie and I don't know a lot about MP3 players so I hope you can help me out. I have a brand new Kenwood car audio with an USB cable to plug your MP3 player in. My friend's Samsung MP3 player doesn't work, after some research I find out that the MP3 player has to be an MTP one to work with the car audio. Now my question is: are all Creative MP3 players MTP maschines and do I have to make a software update or what ever to "make them be" a MTP player?
Thanks a lot for any support!

Are you sure about this? Which Kenwood is it exactly? The info I've seen on the Kenwoods say that the USB device must be MSC (not MTP).
Perhaps your friend's Samsung is MTP, and that's why it didn't work.

  • Creative Mp3 Players MTP Problem Solution

Hi,because of the firmware and windows problems,if you have a mp3 player with a firmware that doesn't support MTP problem, sometimes even if you reformat your computer, you can get "player not connected" error. To solve this you must install MTP supporting firmware on your mp3 player, but if you don't want to upgrade your firmware (because of being afraid of stucking in the recovery mode, some other reasons)there is some other solutions to solve this problem.
Editing registry keys, and some other patches did nothing to solve my problem. So I deleted all Creative Drivers and programs from Add/Remove Programs, and I deleted Windows Media Player 0 and installed Windows Media Player 9,than I installed everything from my mp3 player's cd (media source, nomad explorer, device drivers, etc.) and I downloaded and installed new device driver (version 2...) from creative web site. I restarted my computer, and my problem is completely solved. Try it...

  • Creative MP3 players still RELIABLE??? (headphone jack/software) USERS OF NEW PRODUCT NEED

after BOTH of my zen micro has headphone jack problem and the error filled software for the zen micro, i doubt about it's reliability, i want to ask the people who use creative's new players (mp3/photo/video) to tell me what they experienced. because i never like Apple, but they are much more durable to use. They can withstand so much physical dmg and works perfectly, on the other hand, the smallest vibration/movement caused the zen micro headphone jack's metal pieces to go out of place(have no contact on the male connector for headphones)
please tell me ur experiences of the newer Creative mp3/video players

i've owned 3 creative and i only had problems with the zen xtra and thats one of their older players, with the zen micro and vision m i havent had any problems including the headphone jack, and i put my players through some rough times so i think their improvin upon the quality/durability overall

  • Creative Labs Firmware Update: Zen Touch Overv

This message is to give Creative Labs a clear overview of what is missing/needs updating in the next firmware download.
) Touch Pad Sensitivity- The Touch Pad sensitivity settings need to be changed to provide a slower scrolling speed.
    2) EAX Sound Features- Including EAX support just like in Xtra models.
    3) Volume Synchronization- The ability to apply the same volume to all music.
I think all Creative Zen Touch users would have to agree that these are most important things to be updated.
Yes, it is possible to adjust to the sensitivity of the scroll pad, however for new users is somewhat a disappointment. Most Zen Touch users would agree that the Touch Pad is over sensiti've and that such a problem is one of the reasons users buy the iPod. Based on the reviews which potential consumers use to decide on a purchase the Zen Touch loses points to the iPod for having the over sensiti've Touch Pad. The comparison was very close and the Zen Touch lost by fraction of points which can easily be solved with an update.
The comparison result can be found here: http://www.mp3.com/iPod+vs.+Zen+Touch/stories/090.html
The Zen Touch lost by only 3 points, however the Zen Touch as everything over the iPod besides the little things such as the style, and clearly the Touch Pad.
The EAX feature is highly supported by Zen Touch users and more information an be found here:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...&message.id=88
Lastly, another key features that was included on the Xtra models, but not included in the Touch was the Volume Synchronization. This is key for Ripped and Download music. The Ripping volume is often times different from volume that is provided by the MP3 download sites. This is another feature that is worthy of upgrade.
Creative has a lot of potential right now, mainly because the features on the Zen Touch outperform the iPod yet Apple still has the market on MP3 Players. It would not hurt at all to update these features mainly because the iPod has been around longer so they obviously had more time to perfect the MP3 Player.
Thus, I encourage Creative Labs to take a lead on the MP3 market by releasing the next firmware with these updated features.
No matter how you look at it the Zen Touch should be leading the MP3 market.
With these small updates I think more consumers will purchase these players, thus increasing Creative revenue.
Please Creative you have heard loyal customers speak out, now it would be a great time to show loyalty and boost your customer service reputation from great to the best support.
If anyone agrees or support these firmware updates please post here.
    Sincerely,
    -Coolrulez

well, I have to disagree with #3. You should actually be able to set the Sync Properties on the Program you use to put music onto the Touch anyhow. the Easiest way to do this without this, is putting all music in the same format, and in the same size. Unless the recording/file is already bad, that should do you well. I use WMP0 and all my files were ripped in the same Quality, and if not, they were automatically converted to fit the specifications I chose, which was WMA-28KBPS. And mostly it all sounds the same. Of course, the classical music I listen to quieter than the Rock I listen to, but thats normal.

  • 1st MP3 player, a Zen Touch and it wont

I just received a second hand Zen Touch, my first MP3 player woohoo!! not!!
    Day
When the player first arri'ved I plugged it into my PC and I was able to view it as a separate dri've and could see all the files and songs that had been loaded good stuff, cool!!
I installed WMP on my laptop and thought I was off and running ripped a CD and tried to transfer it's hit Sync (wasn t sure I should do that but I assumed that s how to transfer) it says the device is FULL and I know it'ss not. (25.9 GB remaining) so I tried dragging items into the sync list, hitting start sync, and NOW it tells me there is not enough storage space on my computer err!!
Downloaded the manual because obviously I don t know what I m doing no help there just more confusion.
    Day 2
    Note:
I deleted about 000 songs and had also plugged the player directly into my PC speakers for external sound it worked so I hope I didn t damage it'sbecause the Zen dri've shows up on my PC still, but now empty...WHAT!! But its not all songs are still there and they play, I just can't view the files
Is there maybe a setting or something I may have unknowingly screwed up I really haven't done anything except delete some artists that aren t my cup of tea.
I installed Creative Media Source 5 Organizer from thinking that was the ticket, but still I get a message telling me that there is no Creative MP3 player connected.
The seller supplied a burned CD with the driver version .0.0.0 so
    I reinstalled it'sstill nothing
Tried the Firmware, not sure what this is but it was on the disc so what the heck.
(Version ..3.0 and Plays4sure 2...0) but message says the player isn t connected go figure
I followed the article on checking my USB connection still nothing
Then I found this forum and searched it only to find similar problems with no solution .can someone PLEASE HELP a newby to MP3 players
    Thanks

I could recommend a few things, but will not guarantee these are the solutions.
First off make sure that your computer is detecting the MP3 player, either as a device or even a hard dri've.
Second see if there should some sort of folder structure the player recognizes, some players have this annoying functionality, where there might be hidden folders with content (since used device).
This would be my guess, see if you have a virus scanner software that may have inadvertently or through some setting may have recognized or found some content in your MP3 player unsafe and may have quarantined it, surprisingly this does happen.
If none of these seem to help then do the most default solution. Reset the player to its original settings, should be some reset button or format the MP3 player. Unplug the device remove the drivers uninstall the software and then re-install them fresh.
This is what I can think of.

  • Nomad explorer and creative mediasource not detecting zen touch player. PLEASE HE

Hi, I got a new pc and I was going to install my Zen Touch mp3 player on my new pc but I could'nt find the installation cd so I followed the instructions on here and downloaded all the necessary? software, drivers, plug ins, and followed all the instructions. Once everything was downloaded and installed I plugged my mp3 player into my pc and the noise it makes came up and mtp media player pop up appeared. Windows media player accepts that my zen touch is plugged in but creative media source and nomad explorer is not detecting it's?My os is windows xp, I am using windows media player 9 as I was having trouble with windows media player . Could someone please help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you've just upgraded to XP, you now have to upgrade your Zen as well as your Mediasource. First you've got to upgrade your Zen Touch firmware to version 2.0.05 or above. Look around on the Creative Support site and you'll find the download without too much trouble. Be warned that the firmware upgrade is permanent, and it will wipe out your Zen hard dri've contents, so say goodbye to all your music unless you want to back it all up to your PC first.
Then you've got to upgrade your Mediasource to v 3.30.2 or higher. Again, you can find the upgrade download on the Creative site. Then you've got to install Zen Touch Media Explorer v .30.04 or higher. Same thing -- easy to locate on the Creative site. Then you should be good to go!?Best,?John

  • Do Creative MP3 players have higher song capaci

I'm doing a lot of research as to what I want to buy along the lines of an MP3 player, and so far the Creative Zen is sort of top of my list, and I'm just having trouble deciding what storage capacity to buy. In my research, the IPOD site and the RIO site both say that 4GB holds roughly 000 songs (depending, obviously), and the 6GB roughly 500. The Creative site says that 4 can hold 2000, 5 can hold 2500, and 6 can hold 3000. I know all of this depends on file sizes and song lengths and whatnot, but that's a big difference? Is this remotely correct? Do the Creative products have a method of compressing files or something?
    I'm very confused.

basically the number of files it stores is based on the quality of the file and the length of it. people have often made comments about creatives estimates as for people who dont know much about this sort of thing they can be very mis leading. there is no difference between the number of songs per unit space on different mp3 players. i think the creative estimates are based on like 3 min songs at 64 kb/s quality, which is unrealistic for most people as they keep their collections in 28 or above, i know i do.on my 5 gb zen micro i fit about 300 depends on length of song, can get up to 500, but not close to the described 2500.
i would go for a creative if i were you, how many mp3's do you have and at what quality? and how many more do you invisage getting?

  • Device Stage and Creative MP3 players?

Will Creative support the Device Stage feature on Windows7 for their mp3 players? im just curious about this.

+thanks,is there a way to limit song searches to DRM free songs?+
Yes. The easiest way would be to do your online shopping at stores that *only sell DRM-free songs!* That includes amazon.com and audiolunchbox.com. The sell in MP3 format, which is fully compatible with both an iPod and a Creative. And no DRM in sight.
There are other stores that sell a mix of DRM and DRM-free songs, and if you shop at one of them you will need to be very attentive. That includes the iTunes Music Store, walmart.com, and the Zune Marketplace. For example, in the iTunes Music Store you would watch for the Plus sign which indicates DRM-free.

  • Are Creative MP3 Players compatiable w/ Ma

    Hi.
I am thinking of purchasing an Apple Powerbook for college. I have heard amazing things about Creative products and their MP3 PLayers and I am currently deciding between Creative and and Ipod. If I got the Creative one, would it be compatiable with the Mac if I decide to get it's
    Thanks!

Creative players aren't officially supported on Mac, but there are third-party programs floating around that will allow you to connect a Creative to a Mac. Do a search in this forum and you will probably find some.
