Creative zen micro in the c

is there anyway i can hook my zen micro up in the car so it plays through my speakers and radio deck? . i see they have a belkin zen thing, but is that just a holder for it for going in your cup holder? if i cant listen to my zen in the car im tossing it and getting an ipod, i have enough problems with the welding on the head phone jack... .

If you've got a cassette player in your car, you can play your micro thru that (I do it all the time) using a cassette adaptor you can get for around $20 from practically anywhere. If not, seems like you'd have to go the FM transmitter route which will cost you more (see link). If your car has a single jack port (like the one used to connect your headphones to your micro), it should work with more than just an Ipod. My friend uses his for a non-pod product---you'd just need the little cable to go from your micro to your car's jack. http://us.creative.com/products/prod...57&product=427

If you are getting errors when installing this suggests a problem with the Windows install. Have you tried the install CD?

  • Creative Zen Micro : Error w Playl

I'm having problems with transferring an entire imported playlist into my zen micro.
I've recently updated both my firmware and MediaSource to the latest version. Loaded MediaSource up and imported a playlist that i created using winamp. Then I clicked and dropped the playlist into my zen micro and a new window pops up showing the progress of the songs transferring into it. But while transferring, many of the files had Error under the Progress. Note that I am able to listen to the songs in winamp, but am unable to listen to the "Error songs" in MediaSource. Attached is a screenshot of what happened.
    [img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/milo_dinosaur/error.jpg">
I've tried to create a new playlist in MediaSource, and imported the songs. But it also did not work.
Also, I found out that under My Playlists in my Zen Micro, there are many playlists named Creative Zen Micro, while the one that I've highlighted was the only one that I've created.
    [img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/milo_dinosaur/huh.jpg">
Went into rescue mode, reformatted the zen micro and even did a clean up. Nothing worked.
So, can anyone help me see what's wrong? Hopefully someone here can help before I email the Customer Service team again.
Thanks in advance. =)Message Edited by milo_dinosaur on 0-9-2005 :54 AM

    Yes I'm currently using 3.30.2
I've finally found the problem. My computer currently has 2 user profiles, the first one is 'Owner' and it's the directory I've saved my mp3 files at. Second one is called 'pokey' (just a nickname, don't ask why! :P) which I frequently use. So, my playlist called 'blabla.m3u' was saved under pokey, which is C:\Documents and Settings\pokey\My Documents\blabla.m3u.
I opened up my playlist using notepad and saw that it's file path was
    "\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
So, MediaSource would just tag the filepath of that song as
    "C:\Documents and Settings\pokey\My Documents\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
That was where it went wrong.
Now, I save my playlists under the 'Owner' profile, and it works fine. file path shows up as
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Apocalyptica - Bittersweet.mp3"
which is exactly where I placed the files.
So now everything works fine. The thing is that I have to save the playlist in the same profile as where the mp3s are located at.
The error actually existed because MediaSource couldn't find the file at the designated filepath. I guess it was an error on my part.
Anyway, thanks for the quick reply! It's really very much appreciated.Message Edited by milo_dinosaur on 0-9-2005 0:24 PM

  • Creative Zen Micro isn't detected

When I connect the Creative Zen Micro with the USB cable the computer asks me wether I'd like to synchronise my player with Windows Media Player or do nothing, but then it always gives me a message, that the computer can't detect the player. I can't put new music on it, for example via explorer, nor I can update the Firmware or something else. I rolled Windows Media Player back on a lower edition and installed WMP0, but it still does not work. I use Windows XP.
Additional the player rebuilds library everytime I switch it on, plus some time ago there were several music files on the player deleted - without me doing anything.
Does somebody know what to do?

Did you erase your firmware?Have you done a Cleanup>Reboot on the player? http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

  • Creative Zen Micro... What could it

    Hello,
When I tried to update my creative zen micro to the firmware version 2.2, the program froze, and I was forced to close it while the screen was stuck at "Player rebooting... please wait...". Now, when I hook my player to my computer, my computer recognizes it as a portable device under Device Manager named "Creative Zen Micro" and it is recognized in My Computer. When I right click and hit properties on the icon in My Computer it says Firmware Version: 2.2. But when I double click it says it only has a 20 MB space when this player is 5 GB. When I turn my Zen Micro on, the player quickly flashes to "Firmware Problem" before proceeding to the Recovery Mode Screen. Now, each selection in the Recovery Mode works. But, where I'm stuck is when I go into the (latest) version of the Zen Micro explorer, it tells me to connect my device. Also, when I try to downgrade my firmware or run any Creative software that requires the device to be detected, it can't detect it. This is quite odd, considering windows detects it under Portable Devices just fine.
-I reinstalled all the original software, still no go
-I reinstalled the original software and upgraded to the latest manually, still no go
-I reinstalled all my USB port drivers, still no go
-I cleaned and formatted the player under Recovery Mode, still no go
All I need to do is downgrade my firmware to a non Plays-for-Sure (since it is the version of installation that failed). But, I just can't get the Creative programs to detect my player.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

    Alas!
    I got it to work!
Here's how I fixed it ( in case anyone else has this problem )
-I connected the player to another computer in the house.
DO NOT connect the player to a front of the case USB port because the computer had trouble using the player in that port, connect it DIRECTLY to the motherboard in the back of your computer.
    -I installed the software.
Note: The computer did NOT have a previous version of the software installed at all, ever.
My laptop and desktop could not recognize my player properly, but they DID have the player installed previously on both of them. (But it also could be because they both have Creative Sound Card software installed, you never know)
-Zen explorer did NOT detect my player, so I ran the firmware update ( in my case downgrade to . ) installation and VOILAH! It detected my player fine and downgraded it successfully.

MTP is a protocol. For our purposes it means that the driver should be included with WMP0. (...and that is the connection, you get the driver by installing WMP0.)

  • Is the Creative zen micro a good bye or a bad

I heard alot of horror stories about creative zen micros freezing and the headphone jacks are not working so I want ask your opinion is the creative zen micro a good bye or a cheap urelieable mp3 player. I love the design and the colors and the extra features but is the player relieable or nice to look at but really senseti've. If buying the creative zen is going to be this big investment then maybe i should get an ipod its just the ipod seems so less in comparison. Please reply so that i might have a greater understanding on what to buy.

I agree with Kerndrone. People come here mostly to look for solutions to their problems. This constitutes a lot to the negati've talk. Also, how many would purposely come into a forum just to praise a player?
ipods aren't great either. I feel that they are just an overpriced piece of gadget with very few features - whatever the zen has, the ipods doesn't (i.e. FM radio/recorder,voice recorder, simple organiser) .On the other hand, whatever the ipod has, the zen also has (with the exception of games, which i think is dumb. An audio player, as its name suggests, it for the purpose of AUDIO, some SIMPLE games? it's so dumb, i'll rather play my mobile phone's, which has color, and nicer to view.)
Further, the Zen comes with much more accessories than the ipods - velvet pouch, craddle + stand + belt clip + charger + USB cable + earphones. ipods don't come with chargers, i think. The charger is pretty expensi've S$69, and the earphones cost S$49 if bought separately.

  • Won't reformatting the Creative Zen Micro constantly kill it? Especially with the beta firmwa

I have just been the victim of "sudden audio player death syndrome" my iri'ver h0 bit the dust two weeks after I bought it... I have the same fears about my creative zen micro, as I fear that these micro dri'ves are less durable than full size hard disks and more succeptible to failure. I really was scared to format it once. And I asked the question earlier... but I would like some more replies, do you have to reformat the dri've every month to renew subscription tracks on napster to go... does anybody have experience with the service and the player, maybe for a couple of months that could tell me?

I have the Micro as well as the Seagate Pocket Dri've, a standalone version of the S dri've that's in the Micro. I've owned the latter for about fi've months now. Both of them take a fair share of abuse: the Seagate dri've travels in my backpack or pocket every day to and from work. The Micro is strapped on my arm fi've times a week as I do my daily jog. Both have yet to show any signs of damage. I also reformatted my Micro dri've about 0-2 times when I first got it (I had problems that I thought were caused by the firmware but, as it turns out, were caused by my USB card).

  • Creative zen micro line-in recordi

I read a review of the zen micro at CNET.com, and their short video clip tells me that the zen micro has line-in recording. However, nowhere does it state/mention that feature in the zen micro homepage, nor is it mentioned in any other site. I would just like to confirm that the zen micro doesn't have line-in recording...

Yep, the CNET.COM video review did mention about a line-in recording function. But maybe because that video was recorded way before the Zen Micro was actually launched, therefore there was a mix up in information. And so no, Creative Zen Micro does not have a line-in recording function. However, the Zen Neeon and Zen Nano Plus does have line-in recording if you're interested =)

  • Help with my Bran-New Creative Zen Micro Photo. [Questi

<EM>If you don't want to see the backing of my whole story skip to the bold print at the bottom!</EM>I also want you to know I read the FAQs and searched through some topics like this, but haven't found any asking my question.First of all, I'm new to the forum, but I've been researching Creative's Zen for a long time now. I kept observing each one closely before I purchased a product. I then saw the Zen Micro Photo come out. This one won my attention. I loved this, I quickly searched for reviews and went for the buy for Christmas. I told my dad about it and he was "iffy" on the price, but it was better then the iPod in my opinion.Christmas day came and I opened it. Right away I checked everything out I knew a lot about the menu already and all, but not really how to control it. I checked to make sure everything worked. All systems were go. After listening to the defaults (which I loved) I went to go install the software. I already had Media Player 0 and Adobe, oh and I didn't want the freakin AOL toolbar! Lol, so I installed everything else. It took forever, but I hooked it up and I installed the drivers, but as soon as I plug in the USB connector I see: "A HIGH-SPEED USB device has been plugged into a LOW SPEED USB port. After that, I switched USB ports, btu I got same message. I hit the X and then tried to charge. I got the Lightening Bolt, but no dimming of lights. I found out that this computer is not letting me install any service packs, I'm confused about that.My question:Is there anyway I can charge this mp3 player and download music onto my Zen Micro Photo without Service Pack ? Or did I just pay $250 for a really cool glowing mp3 player to be used as a paperweight? (I love this Zen and I ran the battery dead hoping that would make the charging easier).Help?
    My Specifications:
My Mp3 Player: Zen Micro Photo (Black)What I tried: Switching USB ports and re-installing Service Pack Software: Not sure how to determine firmware without installing something. I'm on a XP Professional and I'm using the Creative Media Source and Creative Media Toolbox

Thank you DM for responding. I am expecting problems, but it still won't allow me to charge the Zen Micro Photo or even use the Creative Media Source. I can't upload any songs or any contacts on it. I haven't uploaded anything yet, but it's not reading the USB device. When I run Creative Zen Micro Photo Media Explorer I get this message at the top of the screen: "The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer. I can't organize anything or add songs... so it just makes all the programs I downloaded useless and my Creative product unusuable.ONe thing it does do though... whenever I plug in my Zen MIcroPhoto to the USB it turns it on and glows, but only shows my battery at the top with one red line and the green lightening bolt filling the battery up.After leaving it like this for two hours the green moves, but the red bar stays the same size.

  • Creative Zen Micro 6GB/Problems with Power Switch and Firmw

The power switch on my Zen Micro has died. I can't turn it on or off unless I 'jump start' it from a USB cable and leave it alone to go into idle shutdown. I've had this player just three weeks and this is happened and frankly I'm disgusted. But wait, my story get's worse:
So before sending it back to Creative I thought that I should at least exhaust every possible cure. First on my list? A Firmware upgrade to v2.22.05. I downloaded the program and set about installing the new firmware but halfway through the process it hung and I had to end it prematurely. Now what I had was a ZM that apparently had v2.22.05 but was not being recognised at all by my computer. Media Explorer wasn't picking up on it and neither was WMP although strangely when I connect the device it's there in the Device Manager...
So, check back with the website and it said to download an update for Mediasource and that should solve the problem. Downloaded the patch but then realised that I hadn't installed Mediasource on my computer (can't remember why I didn't though). Went back to the downloads page and downloaded Mediasource. Tried to install it but I can't. The reason? because my computer isn't detecting the ZM and I can't install it until it recognises that it's there.
As a last resort I thought that I would try to use 'Rescue Mode'. Seemed simple enough, remove the battery and hold down the power switch. Then put the battery back in and wait for the rescue screen to come up. Seems easy enough. Oh wait, I don't have a working power switch.
What I do have though, is a small piece of plastic and metal that I can't turn on, can't turn off, can't put any songs on, can't listen to, can't fix and can't be bothered with. I have a ?60 paperweight.
Anyone at all have any idea what I should do? I just want to put it all in a box and send it back to Amazon with a request for a full refund or a threat to take them to the Small Claims Court.

Although a failed power switch is not unknown, I only recall seeing two or three other cases of this. It's not common.
If WMP isn't working with the device having v2 firmware something is wrong. Unfortunately this can be difficult to fix, but take a look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
MediaSource won't detect the player if there's some issue e.g. WMP0 not detecting it. You can of course also try installing Zen Micro Media Explorer (Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update to be specific) which has MTP support.
Are you are presumably under guarantee, and as you bought from an Internet store, it's best to return it direct to Creative. Contact Creative Support to arrange this.

    Creative Zen Micro -
When I plug the usb into a computer, it has the charge icon in the top right corner of the screen. If I attemp to turn it on, while plugged in, the creative sceen come on, and then dissapears. When it is not plugged into the computer, I get no repsponse what so ever. I haven't attmpted to reset it. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Try starting the player into Recovery Mode, see if that works:

<EM>Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears. </EM>

  • Creative Zen Micro - Is it Worth

I am looking to get my first MP3 player. I basically have 3 choices - an iRi'ver, an Ipod Nano -_-, or a Creative Zen Micro (5gb). I am hearing all kinds of problems with freezing and the headphone jack problem. My friend has had his a year and says his is fine. Should I be worried? Is it worth the risk? I am the most unluckiest person out there, solI know somethign will happen the first week.

    NO NO NO NO!!!!
I posted this in another thread :
If time is on your side TAKE IT BACK ASAP. Like you, I did plenty of research before putting out the money on an Mp3 player. I was impressed with what I read about the Zen micro so I went ahead and purchased 3. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! I purchased them in May 2005. I've already sent player back twice for repair - and am awaiting the RMA label to send THE SAME player back again for replacement. Now the other 2 players are starting to act up. One won't hold a charge at all and when it does start it goes to the clean up screen and the other has started freezing up quite a lot. As far as I am concerned this product is a joke. I was patient with customer service, even after I was LIED to. I let them replace the product not once but twice and am actually going to see if I can't cancel the advanced RMA on the third replacement and try and get my money back on all three of the players through the replacement plans I bought on them. If I have to wait until May 2006 for the year manufacturers warranty to be up I'll stick them in a drawer and wait.
The funny (not ha ha funny, but strange funny) thing is that I bought the Zen Micro's because I didn't want to be like everyone else and buy iPods. Now I wish I had. I have a feeling I threw over $600.00 away. Not quite 7 months and almost $700.00 spent- $00.00 a month for nothing but problems - wow what a really bad investment!
If I thought Creative would buck up and do the honorable thing and give me my money back, I probably wouldn't have bothered to register and post here. But I really don't think they give a crap about me or any other poor sucker that fell for their line and bought this junk. Buyer Beware....
