CRONTAB to take logical DB Backup

Hi,
Please advise how to set crontab so that a script is run at a particular time . However, the important thing here is that the script has to run as a normal user but it has to run a profile as a super user
How we take back up normally is
<Login to db server>
$bash
$. .profile_db
$./export.sh

man crontab

  • How to take remote disk backup on AIX

    Dear All,
    I want to take a disk backup of our Development system. I will take the backup on an USB external HDD
    which is connected to a Windows XP system. Both the Windows XP and DEV system are on same local network. The external HDD has NTFS file system and has been shared. The server is on AIX 5.3 with oracle 10.2.0.1 with SAP ECC 6.0. Since I am new to AIX Operating System and have little knowledge about AIX, I am unable to access the shared disk in my AIX box. Once I will able to access the shared disk in the AIX system i.e. in the Development server and then only I can configure the corresponding file at SAP level and could take the backup. Please help me how to access the corresponding shared disk from AIX and what configuration I have to do at SAP level for taking disk backup.

  • Configure backup agent to take the RMAN backup

    Hi,
    We have a Sun Storagetek SL48 tape library with us. we want to take the backup to tape using Rman.
    In order to take the RMAN backup, we need a backup agent needs to be installed on the database server.
    1. My doubt is If we have Sun Storagetek SL48 tape library, what backup agent needs to be installed on the server?
    2. If we know agent name, Could you please share the document to install the agent?
    Thanks for your help.
    R.Sundaravel

    These softwares support the SL48 and they have an agent for RMAN : Symantec NetBackup, Legato Networker.

  • Is it possible to take a full backup without shutting down an instance?(10g

    Hi. everyone.
    Is it possible to take a full backup without shutting down an instance?
    The db version is 10gr2.
    As far as I know, in order to take a full backup of a database,
    one need to shutdown a database.
    Our db environment is a RAC environment which has two nodes.
    Yesterday, I heard from a hardware vendor that we do not need to shutdown
    instances(2-nodes) in order to take a full backup.
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
    >>As far as I know, in order to take a full backup of a database, one need to shutdown a database.
    In fact, a database operating in NOARCHIVELOG mode is necessary to shutdown the database in order to perform a full backup (Cold Backup), but otherwise a database that is operating in ARCHIVELOG mode, then is possible to perform a full database backup with the database in a open state. (Hot Backup)

  • I had an iphone4 and i forgot to take the latest backup of my phone

    I have an iphone 4 & i forgot to take the latest backup before shifting to iphone 5s. The transition to iphone 5s was very smooth & its working fine but it has only the old backup data. Now i am tryiing to take a new back up from my iphone4 & then try n plug my new iphone5s but it doesnt help. 25% of my contacts have gone missing my mails are not working & few of my latest messages have also gone missing.

    First step is upgrade to Snow Leopard, 10.6, by calling Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and order the SL DVD for $20.  Then update on-line via software update to 10.6.8.  If you want to go further, to Lion, you can purchase a download code for $20 from that same number and download 10.7.5, or go directly to the Mac App Store and purchase/download 10.8.2 provided your computer is on the compatible hardware list at http://www.apple.com/osx/specs

  • When I try to use my iCloud backup it takes forever to backup and then sometimes it says unable to backup

    When I try to use my iCloud backup it takes forever to backup and then sometimes it says unable to backup what do I do

    If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
    Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
    This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

  • Logical Database Backup

    Hi All,
    I Want to take Backup of my Schema (Using EXP ,Logical backup?) .i want only 10 Rows data for each table in my new schema.
    Can anyone tell how to do that .
    Thanks in Advance..

    What is the business purpose of trying to backup 1% of the data?
    If you care about the data, you would be doing a full physical database backup to protect all the data. Or you would at least be exporting all the data in particular tables to protect against human errors (i.e. deleting all the data in a table in production rather than development accidentally).
    If you don't care about the data, and you are just interested in the schema definition, you should be ignoring the data.
    I cannot imagine a backup and recovery scenario where having 1% of the data in your backup would be useful. If you are trying to create a smaller version of your production environment for development (i.e. you are not treating this as a backup, but an extract), there are commercial tools out there that can generate relationally consistent extracts of a few percent of the data in your database-- those would be far preferrable to trying to build your own via export.

  • How to take a Hot backup of Oracle database

    1: put the db in archive log mode
    2: set the db_sid to correct one
    3: login to sqlplus
    4: verify the name of the db that you are connected to
    select name from v$database;
    5: check if the db is in archive log made
    select log_mode from v$database;
    if not in archive log mode
    another command to check
    archive log list;
    6: find where on disk oracle writes archive log when it is in archive log mode
    sql> show parameter log_archive_dest_1;
    if the value is found to be 0, that means no values will be recorded, so we need to change it
    sql> alter system set log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=c:\database\oradata\finance\archived_logs\'
    scope=spfile;
    7: shutdown immediate; < this is done just to prepare the db for hot backups >
    8: startup the db in mount mode
    startup mount;
    ( 3 startup types : nomount - just starts the instance, mount - locates the control files and open up according to the values, open - finds the datafiles from the control files and opens up the db )
    9: put the db in archive log mode
    alter database archivelog;
    10: open the database
    alter database open;
    11: check the status of the db
    select log_mode from v$database;
    SQL> archive log list;
    12: create a directory for archived log
    check if its empty, if empty we need to switch
    sql> alter system archive log current;
    run it 5 times < need to put / and enter > , then check the archive log dir , we will find files
    13: make a table in the database and insert data in it
    create table employees (fname varchar(2));
    check the table
    desc employees;
    insert values
    insert into employees values ('Mica');
    14: tablespace must be in hot backup mode
    check the status
    select * from v$backup;
    if found not active, then we need to change
    we cannot put the db in hot backup mode, unless it is archive log mode
    change to hot backup mode
    alter database begin backup;
    check the status
    select * from v$backup;
    15: now we can only COPY DBF FILES
    copy *dbf <distination location>
    16: need to take the db out to hot backup mode
    alter database end backup;
    17: need to make another archive log switch
    alter system archive log current;
    18: need to copy control files now, need to do a binary bckup
    alter database backup controlfile to '<location>\controlbackup';
    19: insert more values to the table
    insert into employess values ('NASH')
    COMMIT;
    make another archive log switch : alter system archive log current;
    do the same process for more values
    20 : backup all the archive logs to a new location
    21: shutdown the db and simulate a hw error, delete all the files from the database folder
    22: try to start the sqlplus and db ::: error
    23: copy all the backups to the db dir
    need to copy the control files, rename the binary backup of the control file and make the copies as needed
    24: try to mount the db, error < must use reset logs or noreset logs >
    25: need to do a recovering of the database
    shutdown
    restore the archive logs
    startup mount;
    recover database until cancel using backup controlfile;
    it will ask for a log file :
    yes for recovery
    cancel for cancelling recovery
    26: check status: open the database in readonly
    alter database open read only;
    check the tables to see the data
    shutdown immediate
    shartup mount;
    recover again : recover database until cancel using backup controlfile;
    if oracle is asking for a log that do nto exist , all we have to do is type cancel
    27: open the database
    alter database open;
    need to do reset logs
    alter database open resetlogs;
    28: check the db that you are connected, check the tables
    thanks and regards

    A very long list ... let me make it shorter.
    SQL> archive log list;If I see this:
    Database log mode              No Archive ModeI put the database into archivelog mode and leave it there forever.
    If it is in archivelog mode:
    RMAN> TARGET SYS/<password>@<service_name> NOCATALOG
    RMAN> BACKUP DATABASE PLUS ARCHIVELOG;Though there are a lot of things one could do better such as incrementals with block change tracking, creating an RMAN catalog, etc.

  • Why does it take hours to backup my iPad?

    Why is it that when I try to back up my iPad the backup starts alright but after a short while it seems to grind to a halt. I have made it a habit to monitor the affected folder on my MacBook Pro and it is pretty clear that, although the backup indicator in iTunes keeps on spinning, the backup files remain unaffected after the halt. My present attempt, for example, has now been going on for two hours and 45 minutes without any indication of it coming to an end.
    My solution to this slight inconvenience is to delete the backup file from within iTunes and create a completely new backup. This, however doable, is not too convenient because it takes some extra time to do this.
    So what am I to do about this. Should I just patiently sit tight and hope for the backup to complete (hoping it will) at some undetermined future point in time? Or is there any other way of coming to grips with this?
    Johnny

    Shouldn't take that long although waiting a long time in between syncs can create longer backup times...  ie more data, apps, etc... to back up etc...  Make sure both iPad and iTunes are most current versions.  Make sure you are using the iPad sync cord that came with the device and not another from a iPhone or iPod.  Cables can screw up the deal.
    Start there first and let us know how it goes.

  • Snow Leopard Latest Version - Disk Utility TAKES FOREVER to Backup Disk

    Hi,
    it is pretty much as the header describes.
    I have chosen, New Image from Folder... in DU.
    Then I select my boot drive which I want to Backup.
    It has been 45 minutes and DU has copied 13 GB increasingly. And is still going at it.
    I have 500GB on that drive and this way it would take forever.
    Now, if I enter the terminal and do a ditto it will copy about 10GB per minute.
    Any ideas why DU is soooooooo SLOW.

    DU isn't slow, however, you are trying to backup into a disk image which is slow. If you simply use the Restore option of DU to backup, then it will go faster. You should not do a backup into a disk image. It's unnecessarily slow especially if you opted to encrypt the image. DU's Restore option will put a bootable clone onto the backup drive.
    Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4.Check the box labeled Erase destination.
    5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the backup drive.
    Source means the internal startup drive.

  • Restoring my iPhone 4 but it doesn't take most recent backup - help?

    I had to replace my iPhone 4 and backed it up to the Cloud ahead of erasing my old phone (which was on iOS 6). The fellow I talked to at the Apple Store told me to upgrade the new phone to iOS 6 before restoring my files or it wouldn't restore all the more recent files. So I did the software upgrade before restoring the phone but it still didn't restore to my latest backup - is there some way to restore it again to try and get the data that is missing? Have I lost all my files?

    Hello lyngos,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
    If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
    If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
    If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Howto take a CONSISTENT backup of AS-Java WITHOUT shutting down?

    According to the official documentation one needs to shutdown the Java instance (EP, KM, BI-Java) and backup filesystem and database at the same time to ensure consistency, so far I understood.
    Since there is no easy way of finding out, who's logged in at a specific moment, we have no chance to inform logged in/working users about an imminent downtime/shutdown.
    Things become even worse, if backups are taken at night when different timezones are using the system productively.
    What is a recommended "best practice" for those kind of setups? Is there anywhere an information on which of the running applications writes data into the filesystem so we could probably keep it in sync with the database "manually" in case we need to recover a backup, that was taken online?
    Any input greatly appreciated.
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
    my strategy is to take an online (cons) backup every night and an offline backup every sunday at 00:00.
    There is a way to take an online cons backup, and now is supported in 2004s (maybe too in NW04 but NOT in was 6.20).
    Here are my scripts for online/offline backup.
    Online :
    xcopy E:\usr\sap E:\BO\j2e /Q /E /C /H /R /O /Y
    xcopy E:\FSDB E:\BO\fsdb\ /Q /E /C /H /R /O /Y
    brbackup -p initp1pOnline.sap -d disk -t online_cons -m all -c -u system/password -k no -e 0 -l E -a -p initp1pOnline.sap -save_delete -d disk -n 10000 -c -u system/password -k no -l E
    Offline :
    stopsap name=p1p nr=00 sapdiahost=sapep1p
    stopsap name=p1p nr=01 sapdiahost=sapep1p
    net stop SAPP1P_00
    net stop SAPP1P_01
    xcopy E:\usr\sap E:\bof\j2e /Q /E /C /H /R /O /Y
    xcopy E:\FSDB E:\bof\fsdb /Q /E /C /H /R /O /Y
    brbackup -c -u system/password
    net start SAPP1P_01
    net start SAPP1P_00
    startsap name=p1p nr=01 sapdiahost=sapep1p
    startsap name=p1p nr=00 sapdiahost=sapep1p
    I tested both backups and was able to restore from scratch without problem.
    Brad
