Crosstab trouble: surpressing subcolumns somehow !?

Hi all! I need to put together a report with a table that looks like this:
Presentations held in 2007
2006
2007
Total
1st Quarter
2nd Quarter
3rd Quarter
Total
Department_1
52
7
7
4
18
Department_2
26
1
9
2
12
That's something of a problem. All I can get is this:
Presentations held in 2007
2006
2007
1st Quarter
2nd Quarter
3rd Quarter
4th Quarter
Total
1st Quarter
2nd Quarter
3rd Quarter
Total
Department_1
13
13
11
15
52
7
7
4
18
Department_2
5
9
4
8
26
1
9
2
12
That holds all the information, but sadly I'm required to only show the sum for 2006, so I need to find a way to supress the data for the quarters for one year, while still showing it for the other.
The table needs to be put together with a parameter for the current year and the current quarter. This should give you  an idea of what I'm doing:
{v_Presentations.year}
{v_Presentations.quarter}
Total
{v_Presentations.dep}
value calculated by distinct count of {v_Presentations.presentationID}
Data is selected to go in the report according to this formula:( {v_Presentations.year} = {?Year} and {v_Presentations.quarter} <= {?Quarter} )or ( {v_Presentations.year}) = ({?Year})-1)
{?Year} - Parameter entered for current year.{?Quarter} - Parameter entered for current quarter.{v_Presentations.dep} - Field containing ID of the department that gave the presentation.{v_Presentations.year} - Field with the year in which the presentation was held.{v_Presentations.quarter} - Field with the quarter in which the presentation was held.{v_Presentations.presentationID} - Number unique to each presentation.
I hope I described the problem well. I'm using a German version of Crystal, so I'm not so firm on the Englísh terminology. Can somebody help me out? Any ideas welcome, I'm at a dead end.
Thanks! Peter

I would try something like creating a group based on a formula that would lump everything for 2006 in a category and lump 2007 data by month... somehow... you might also look at an intervention at the source i.e. create a view of 2007 data in detail, UNIONed with 2006 data in summary and using this view as a basis for the creation of your crosstab

  • Help, please.. ITunes will not copy all my music to IPod

I have a 2nd generation iPod Nano and I'm having some trouble. I somehow accidentally (apparently I'm a moron) restored my iPod so that everything was erased. I have my library backed up on disc, but all my songs are still showing in the ITunes Library. I have 575 songs. When I sync my iPod to ITunes, it gives me an error message saying "Some songs could not be copied because it is not authorized for this computer (100 problems)", something along those lines. After that, it will only copy 340 songs from my ITunes library to my iPod.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can get all my music transferred back to my iPod?

Have you authorized your computer to the iTunes Store account under which those tracks were purchased? You can either play one of the tracks (or additional tracks if any were purchased through a different iTunes Store account) or use the Authorize command under the Store menu in iTunes.

  • Canon PIXMA MX310 causes computers to lose connection to Airport Express

I just bought a Canon PIXMA MX310 printer and tried to connect it to my Airport Express so I can print from both my computers wirelessly. As soon as I connected the USB cable to the printer from the Express, both computers lost connection to Airport. I tried every solution I could think of, but the printer seems to not work this way, and the only way I can get my network connection back is to UNPLUG the printer from Airport. Is there a way to fix this?

Finally solved my problem on my own... After doing a LOT of trouble shooting, I somehow managed to get my wireless connection back between the computers and Airport Express (still don't know how I did it), but anyway... the printer is connected properly as instructed in the Airport instructions, and when I tried to print something, I discovered I needed to select the Bonjour popup menu and find my printer from that list in the printer window. Duh...

  • Please help - cannot complete itunes 6 installation

    Here's my deal:
I have Windows 2000, service pack 4 on an IBM T22, with plenty of hard disk space left and I have had the older version of iTunes (5 i guess) on my computer since I upgraded about a year ago (got iTunes a little over a year ago with my mini iPod). I had trouble then, but somehow got it to work, until now, when I was prompted to upgrade (could not download music otherwise), so I tried to do that, but it failed. One of two things happens: either I get a message that says 1628: Failure to complete installation, OR it just stops installing and I get a box in the minimize bar at the bottom of my desktop that appears to be a dialogue box for QuickTime and iTunes, but that, when clicked on, does not appear (maximize) on my screen. I have now uninstalled QuickTime, iTunes, and my setup.exe, and have tried reinstalling, but the same two things keep happening. I fear that I have lost the ability to install, since the setup.exe is now gone from my desktop. Also, I already tried the suggestions about the 1628 error provided by apple (clearing temp files etc.) and nothing seems to help.
Please help me! I don't have a clue about what to do and am very very frustrated.

    hi Kelsey!
It seems to hiccup right in the middle of the box that says "preparing InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the setup process / preparing to install" portion...and then it just stops.
gaah. okay, first check to make sure your Windows Installer engine is up to date:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    then let's try this again
b with all background applications switched off:
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108379
antivirus, antispyware, Cygwin and various other applications have been implicated with these hangs ... so i reckon it's safest to try to switch all of 'em off prior to the install.
    keep us posted.
    love, b

If you are saying that after signing into iCloud it is telling you device is not found, it could be for any number of reasons. If the battery is dead, if the SIM has been removed, or if someone else has the phone and they have restored it, it will not be shown. Also, if you located it once and then sent a remote wipe, it disables the abililty to locate the phone with Find My iPhone.

  • How do you access "trouble shoot" for mail.  My AOL account is set up on the mail icon but it some how defaulted to another Wi fi account and could not receive email.  We reset the the Wifi but somehow didn't complete the process.

How do you access "trouble shoot" for mail.  Our AOL account is set up on the mail icon but somehow it defaulted onto another nearby Wifi account while everything else that was running stayed on our router.  We were unable to receive email on the AOL account and were directed to trouble shoot.  We reset the Wifi account but somehow didn't save it correctly.  Now we cannot get back in to reset it again.  Direction??

    Hello
I don't really understand your question. The Mail application cannot independently access a different wifi network from the one your computer is using.
Are you trying to troubleshoot your wifi (ie, you can't get into your own wireless network), or the Mail program (you can't get email)? Are there any error messages you see when you try to do one or the other?

  • Having trouble installing Photoshop  Elements 13. [was: I wonder if somehow I might have went to Creative cloud because something crossed my screen, but I am not used to doing this so]

I could really use Customer Service help. I received Photoshop Elements as a gift for Christmas...I waiting until i got a new laptop so that I could use that as i was having trouble with older computer. However, I am having trouble installing the software...I swear the dvd added the programs, and I saw them in files explorer i think, but then I cannot find or I was not even able to add the serial number to my knowledge, because it was blank...no keystrokes were shown...and i don't see the program anywhere...Could I have down something wrong and it is somewhere in the cloud?

Thank you. That's what I first thought that I didn't need to do anything
but install from the dvd drive. However after the agreement, it asks me to
sign in at adobe. (Sorry, I'm a little tired of looking at this right
    now)...I'll try again tomorrow.
There is no one that I see how to start using the program as I must sign
in. However, I have never been able to get the number to your firm. Or get
the correct number... I think I clicked on a learning tutorial or browsed
Adobe's website to learn more, but got caught up in all the details.
I never uninstalled virus protection to run it because I thought that it
would ask. I'll try again tomorrow I am frustrated. Thank you for your
patience. I appreciate it totally. It's really sad cause I really wanted to
create. I have wanted this for a very long time and I can't believe how
difficult this has been. It would be really nice to know what is really
wrong. I must not be seeing something or I've done something.

  • I am having trouble with PS6 - it somehow has become a trial of the extended edition

My purchased copy of PS6 suddenly statered showing a trial version screen when I launched it.  I uninstalled PS6, cleaned the registry, deleted the cookies and temp files.  I then re-download my copy of PS6 from the Adobe page, re-installed and it worked fine for two sessions. On the third session, once again the trial screen for the extended version (I bought the regular edition) appeared and either I elect to "continue trial" or quit, at wihcih time PS6 exits.  I just want to be able to use the Photoshop  I bought without the trial BS.  I paid for a full up version I want to use a fulup version.

Been having the same problem, but nothing works. Just started telling me my Creative Cloud software can't run due to an inability to validate. Tried entering the serial number for Creative Cloud. Says that serial number isn't valid. Tried entering my Photoshop CS5 serial number. Says that serial number isn't valid. Problem is, the licensing manager says that my trial has expired and so it will no longer let me use Photoshop. I'm a licensed Creative Cloud member and my software is no longer available. This is completely unacceptable. Adobe support is only available Monday through Friday during office hours. Designers don't work office hours. I'm now losing hundreds of dollars on a critical working weekend with a serious deadline and no software available for use. Completely unacceptable. People, avoid these cloud-based systems! You will suffer the consequences. Never again for me.

PLEASE help!! I use Outlook for my email and the Mail App Icon that is in my dock, that I know nothing about, was also storing all my emails. So, I tried to delete ONLY the emails in the Mail App but somehow (under Preferences maybe?) I also deleted ALL my OUTLOOK emails in my inbox.  Can someone please please tell me if there is a way to get my Outlook inbox emails back OR EVEN the emails that were in my Mail app - because even tho I never use the Mail app, at least the emails would be there.
When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions.  It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app.  But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone.  And not in the Deleted box.  Just gone.  Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up.  Please help.
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
    Next...
Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > General.
At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".
    Select All = command A

    i found out my prob!
    here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
    click "software updates".
    click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
    go to mail.
    click "mail" at the top.
    click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!
its something with that update that effected mail, i hope this works out for you, if not reply back

I am having trouble viewing iStore. It appears as if its a Flash issue, as several minutes after logging in to iStore I get a non-flash page of iStore in my iTunes window. I have re-installed everything and tried opening all ports in router, and used msconfig to bring up each service individually to see if there is an effect.Flash and iTunes have been re-installed  ...any ideas?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

  • I am having trouble with contacts syncing (CardDAV vs iCloud)

I found that a number of recently added contacts do not sync across iCloud (devices). I have read several forum threads and can't seem to find a solution. I digging into my group text app (Text2Group) I discovered that somehow the missing contacts are not in iCloud but CardDAV. I added them in my phone by opening contacts and tapping on the + symbol in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I did the same thing over the years and never had this problem before upgrading to iOS 8 and then 8.1.1, or at least noticing it recently..
I logged out and back in from both devices. turned off/rebooted my iPhone. The contacts I added today on my MacBookPro (13-inch, Mid 2009, 8 GB ram, OS 10.9.5) today appear on both my iPad Mini and Phone 5S....
Any thoughts other than manually adding the phone CardDAV-contacts to iCloud so the will syn. All of the contacts in CardDAV can be found in contacts, but cannot be added to groups.  Baffling

You can sync/manually mange iphone with one and only one computer.  If you sync/manually mange to anther, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
    What "trouble" are you having?

  • Need to add default columns to a CrossTab

    Post Author: ViBaldi
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, as I have run out...
I have a summary report that queries an SQL view and contains a CrossTab. The selection criteria is filtered by 4 selectable parameter fields:
    1) Region    2) Type of Job     3) Start Date    4) End Date
With the exception of the dates, the user can select u2018one or manyu2019 from the dynamic parameter fields. The dates are selectable with Calendar controls. The Report is Grouped initially by Region. In my CrossTabs in each selected Region, the rows are the selected Job Type and the columns are grouped by the Month of the Job. The summarized field in the CrossTab is a Distinct Count of the JobID's. So basically, I want a monthly summary of Job Types, where the user can select the Job Types and date range for any particular Region.
My dilemma is that my Cross Tab will not include Months, if there was no activity in those months. I want it to still print the Months, regardless of whether there were no jobs, but show a count of zero. Note that if there were different Job Types during the Month, it will appear with a zero in the column for the correct Job Type, but if that month had none of the selected Job Types, the Month is skipped altogether. Somehow, I would like to have the CrossTab leave all selected Months within the Start and End Dates in the columns, but with zero's as the Distinct Count, instead of skipping those Months.
    Here is a typical example:
User selects 4 regions from the Regions PickList (say..Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Sooke).
User selects 3 Job Types from the Job Type pick list (sayu2026Install, Removal, Service Call).
User selects Jan. 1/07 as Start Date and Jun. 31/07 as End Date
All of these picklists populate on first pass of the query, I believe.
My Report Groups into Regions first, and then includes a CrossTab for each Region. I had hoped that the CrossTab would list all 3 Job Types in the left hand Rows, and all six Months in the Columns. Not so! If there was no u2018Installu2019 activity in Vancouver for all six Months, then that Job Type is omitted. Similarly, if there were no Job Type activities (of the 3 selected) at all for the whole month of March in Victoria, then the column for March is omitted. But, if March had 2 u2018Removalu2019 Job Type, and no other activity, and all other Months had at least one Job Type activity, then all Months would appear, and zerou2019s would be present where appropriate.
So, it seems obvious that the query doesnu2019t have data for the Months with no activity, and you cannot do a Distinct Count of no data. I cannot insert fake records into the database, nor would I want to, because the JobID is a Unique Identifier. I have viewed a similar post that suggests linking to a .txt file, but I think that this may not work for me. I suspect that the ability for the user to select a date range would be a problem here, because the user could select only 3 consecutive months, or 18 consecutive months.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Please note that I am fairly proficient with Crystal Reports XI, and have tried everything I know, but I am relatively inexperienced with CrossTabs.
    Thanks!

This may not be the best solution but I believe it will solve your problem.  Try adding dummy records to your SQL view query.  I've done this with crosstabs in the past.  Use a UNION to your original select statement to do this.  So if your original query looks like:SELECT job_type, month, cross_value FROM tableA {where...blah blah}then add some UNIONs to it and return the whole thing as one view.SELECT job_type, month, cross_value FROM tableA {where...blah blah}UNIONSELECT DISTINCT job_type, 'January' AS month, 0 AS cross_value FROM tableA {where...blah blah}UNIONSELECT DISTINCT job_type, 'Feburary' AS month, 0 AS cross_value FROM tableA {where...blah blah}ect....If you are doing a sum at the crosstab value, the extra 0's won't harm anything.  If you're doing a count you will have to compensate by subtracting the extra 0 job_types/months.  You could also create a dummy table that contains the distinct job_types, 0 values and months, then just add one UNION selecting from that table.  OR you could just add an extra record to your existing table(s) that contains 0's for all months/job types.
