Crw32.exe error

We are running CR2008 and have just had a server move. There has been no problem until the final adjustment which was to update all the printer drivers to work with a 64 bit server.
Now when we try to access Print or Page Setup, we get the error message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." and the program crashes.
We have uninstalled fully and reinstalled with no effect.
Luckily the export function is not affected so we can export to pdf and print, but its a nuisance.

Many thanks. This has led me to remove all the printers and try adding them one-by-one. One of them is the culprit and the IT company we use said they had trouble finding the right driver as it was an old printer.
Anyway your comment prompted the finding of the right solution.
Many thanks.

  • User gets crw32.EXE error on some reports

    I have a user who gets a crw32.exe error message  when running some custom reports he has created.   The error signature is as follows:    AppName: crw32.exe;   AppVer:  11.0.0.1252;  ModName:  mfc71u.dll;  ModVer:  7.10.3077.0;   Offset:  00ac991;
We have already  uninstalled and reinstalled Crystal (Standard version).  The user is set up as a local administrator.   He used to be able to perform a work-around to get the reports to run.  He would first open another report and run it, and then open one of the problem reports and it would then run successfully.   This is no longer working.
    Any ideas?

    Additional Information:
While looking at replies to my response and doing the follow-up suggested by these replies, I discovered that if the user launches Crystal Reports first and then uses the application to open the  report file, he can run the report successfully.  In the limited testing, this appears to work every time!
However if he double-clicks on the report file (*.rpt)  in the directory (Windows Explorer) and through the file association, Crystal launches, he will get the error on these few reports every time!   So he has a work around at least, but if you have any further suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

  • Facing crw32.exe error in crystal report because of page size of mainreport

I have developed a crystal with main report which includes a subreport in the details section.
Main report is for header details of invoice and subreport is for line item details.
    Page design is like
    report header
    page header
    details a- subreport
    details b
    pagefooter
In subreport, in details section written a logic for getting a new page after every 10 rows, and insert a new line after 10 rows.
After running the main page, if the report conation only one page more than 10 rows, it is getting crashed with crw32.exe error.
But this report is working fine if the second page contains more than 10 rows.
Could not understand the problem and need help..

    Hi,
The difference I can see is the Report Header.  Format the Report Header section for New Page After.  This will give the first page extra space.
I normally do not recommend having a subreport in the detail section.  It would be a better suggestion to have the subreport in a Group or Page  section and have your subreport return 10 records at a time.  The extra line would be in the main report below the subreport.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Trial crashes; crw32.exe error; any fix?

I downloaded the trial for Crystal Reports 2008 and I can open the application fine, but when I go to create a report and click on the u201CCreate New Connectionu201D for the database I get a Just-in-time error for crw32.exe and my application shuts down.
Iu2019ve been trying to look for a resolution in your forums but could not find anything.  I check for updates it says there are none; I've uninstalled and reinstalled already didn't fix it; I've download sp1 manually and installed but no luck.
I do have MS SQL Server 2008 installed on my system, could this be causing some problems?
I'm running Windows XP, also have VS .NET 2003 installed, but I'm only wanting to use CR 2008 application.
Similar to this existing problem: An unhandled Win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe 5048. Crystal 2008 Crash
I cannot uninstalled SQL Server 2008 because I need it.

    Hi Henry,
Crystal Reports 2008 is not officially tested with SQL Server 2008.
    Try with this:
    1. Reduce the 'Hardware acceleration' setting in Microsoft Windows.
    2. To access the 'Hardware acceleration' setting in Microsoft Windows:
    Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Display > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting.
There are typically six possible settings for 'Hardware acceleration': from 'None' to 'Full'.
If you are using Dual monitor run the CR application on primary monitor cause Dual monitor is not tested with CR.
If still the issue occurs then manually un-install and reinstall the application.

    Hi,
I am using Crystal Report XI designer(11.0.0.1282) in the MS windows XP service pack3.
Whenever I tried to open a repot, I am getting crw32.exe related error and the designer just crashed
    "R6025 -pure virtual function call"
standard MS error with "please contact microsoft about this problem ..."
I can reporduce this error with
    1. open a existing report using stored procedure
    2. Modify the stored procedure including number of columns in the returning resultset
    3. Add a group in the report and do othe cosmetic works and summary etc.
    4. Save the report file
    5. Repopen the report file
    6. Designer crashes
It looks like if I create a brand new report with the modified procedure, it would be OK.
However, I cannot redesign all the reports.
A lot of post recommanded to install patch but I couldn't find the DESIGNER patch.
    Is it the known solution??
How would I get DESIGNER patch??

You should find a Patch level 5,
once patched, your help, about CR, should say Version 11.5.11.1470

  • CR 2011 crw32.exe error

This is the error I receive when trying to connect two tables in a report "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Running XP SP3. Connecting with just one table works fine.  Existing reports with two tables will work fine. Only when attempting to create a new report does this error occur.
We are connecting to the ODBC source PFW.  It was working fine but starting giving this error.  Reinstalled and still have same error.  Have installed both updates as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Chris,
Go into Add/Remove Programs an see what versions are installed? The Help About... doesn't update the patch version.
Is there another tool you can use to test connectivity to that DB?
If you go into the ODBC Administrator and Test the connection, if that option exists, does it still work?
Try deleting all files, close all programs first, from your c:\temp and c:\tmp or your users temp folders.
Does anyone else there have CR instlaled and are they having the same problem?
It could also be your anti-virus software is blocking CR from accessing the ODBC driver. Try right lcicking on crw32.exe and selecting Run As Administrator. Then try logging into the PC as the local Administrator and see if that works.

  • Crw32.exe encountered a problem

I have a user that just received a new laptop with Crystal Developer 10 installed on it. The user is receiving an error when saving a report after it has been ran. If it is not run she does not get the error.
Error: crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you click for more info, you get:
    crw32.exe Error signature AppName: crw32.exe, AppVer: 10.0.0.533 ModName: ntdll.dll. Mod Ver: 5.1.2600.5755 Offset: 0000100b
I have the same exe and dll versions on my PC and have not had any issues. She has received 3 new laptops and continues to have issues.
We would like her to stay on the same version as all of the other crystal report writters (since they share reports).
I have read through 30 threads on this site, and tried a couple of things without being able to get rid of the error.
Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,
I agree with you on not getting the user upgraded.
There normally isn't a issue with saving a report.  If you have a look in the WIndows Event Log see what error was logged by the crash.  That usually helps point you in the right direction.
I'd eliminate any problems with printer or databases.
Is she trying to save locally or to the network?
I would assume she has no problems saving other documents like Text files or Word to the same folders?
Instead of crashing permission problems would normally come up with an error.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Crystal Reports 2008-Vista-ERROR-crw32.exe Entry Point Not Found in dll

    Hi Experts,
I just installed the Crystal Reports 2008 (with SP0) on my Vista (Home) machine.  When I try to start the CR 2008, I am getting the below error message:
Error Title: crw32.exe - Entry Point Not Found
Error Message: The procedure entry point ?PrintLegend@CMapXLegend@CSLib300@@QAEXJJJJJ@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library cslibu-3-0.dll
Here are the things I tried to resolve the above problem:
    1) Uninstall and Reinstall the CR 2008.  -  No change.
    2) I configured the DEP to accept Crystal Reports (Performance - Advanced - DEP allow).
None of these seem fix the problem.
Can you please help me kick start the Crystal Reports 2008?
    Thanks,
    Arun

    Please try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn

  • Crw32.exe has encountered a problem.. error message

I am using Crystal Reports 10 to create reports.  I am selecting tables from two different SQL databases on two different servers. I have successfully used each of these tables in other reports, independently.
I link the tables with an inner join.  Once I  attempt to actually use a field from the second table in my report, I get this error:
crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry, etc, etc.
    Any suggestions?

Some of the users are getting the following error message while trying to open the Crystal Reports from Mobile Sales.
"This program is used to host and to initialize the UF F has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I think, this is a windows error.
Can you please let me know where can I find any update about these issues?
Has anyone ever come across this type of error?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Brian,
Thanks for your help and advise.
Crystal has been running on the server for some time (over a year) but hasn't been 'managed' until now so am looking at all of the issues at present.
We haven't seen a pattern when the errors started though.
Unfortunately the only errors I think relating to CR are the ones in the original post.  There are other errors, particularly to do with printing, but I think that they these are due to the TS sessions which wouldn't run Crystal. See below.
The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\tsprint.dll, error code 0xc1. See the event user data for context information.
I am assuming the users are fine when they view the report then; scrolling through pages.  Yes, I believe so.
Yes, there are no locally attached printers on the server so the users rely on their remote session sharing the printer.

    Don

  • 'Crw32.exe needs to close' error. Faulting Module Mod:pscript5.dll

We are using Crystal Reports 9 and have been for quite some time now.  A couple of weeks ago we had two users complaining of the same issue.  Sometimes when they want to print to PDF, Crystal will start to print, but it will not load past page 1.  The error "crw32.exe needs to close" comes up with the faulting module Mod:pscript5.dll. After the program closes, the portion of the document that made it to the printer pops up in Adobe Acrobat. It's usually just the first few lines of the first page. This happens sometimes. Sometimes the document will print the whole way through, other times it won't. It does it on multiple documents as well. We first noticed it when printing larger documents(50pages or so), but it will also do it on a 1 or 2 page document. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Crystal and Adobe Acrobat with no success. I downloaded the service pack for Crystal, changed printer drivers, added Crystal Reports to the DEP exceptions list, and tried printing to Adobe Reader, but none of it worked. I've also monitored the memory while Crystal is running and trying to print the report, but there weren't any significant jumps in memory usage. I know that pscript.dll is a post script printing file, but I kind of think that it isn't a printing issue and it's throwing up the wrong error. It errors with more than one printer. And it will work some of the time. It seems to be hit and miss. Has anyone run into this issue or have any other suggestions?

Good info, now we know for sure.
CR 9 used one set of routines to format the reports, back then we were PRE-WYSIWYG, meaning we did not use Adobes formatting technique's when viewing and printing. In CR 10 and above we moved to their model which is why newly created Reports render and work properly.
Only thing I can suggest is if you must use that printer driver to update your reports, Open each one, Verify database, set up page size to the PDF printer and then save as to a new location. YOu can try checking off the no Printer option and Dissociate... to see if that helps.
So yes in one sense it is a CR issue but at the same time CR 9 worked fine with the current Printers and PDF viewers at the time.
CR 9 has been out of support for years now and we do recommend that you update your reports each version, the further apart the version numbers of the RPT's are the more chance that some functionality may have issues when opened in a new version.
No new patches are available so nothing we can do, possibly Adobe can make their Print Driver more backward compatible....
    Thanks
    Don
