Crystal 2008 - New Page Setup options - need explanation please

I have been unable to locate documentation on the new Page Setup screen for Crystal 2008.  I am specifically looking on detailed documentation about the following check boxes:
Printer Options:
     No Printer
Page Options section:
     Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size
Margins section:
     Adjust Automatically.
Can someone please detail for me these options.  I'd like to know why I would use them and how do they work when combinations of them are selected.  I am most interested in the second option (above), but would like explanations about all of them.
Thank you.

I do not think the No Printer option is valid for us as our reports are not web based.
Does the Adjust Automatically apply to the reports as they are run from a runtime client?  or does this just adjust for design mode?
This is why I am asking about the 'Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size'.  It sounds like this is the setting we may want to check when creating our reports before we distribute to runtime clients.
Here is why I want to know.
We develop our reports to fit 8.5 inch x 11 inch paper.  We distribute our reports to our clients along with the runtime merge modules.  We have a VB.Net 2005 program that our non-vb.net software application executes in order to print the reports (using the Crystal for .NET methods, etc.) from our software application.
Some of our clients are in Europe.  They use A4 paper.  We have re-designed some of our reports so the fields will fit within both paper sizes (8.5x11 and A4).  However, we have over 500 reports we distribute, so we have not modified all reports.  Therefore, prior to Crystal XI, we recommended to our runtime users that if the data on the report did not fit on the A4 paper (it was truncated), then they need to go into the printer properties (from the printer dialog box...these are users running the report, not developers) and change the report from portrait to landscape before they print.  This would print the report landscape with data across 8.5", and then white space on the right/remainder of the page, but all the data would print, nothing truncated.  After we installed Crystal XI, using this option of selecting landscape at print time, no longer worked.  The report would print with the orientation in which it was created (in our case portrait) regardless of what the user selected from printer properties.
This is why I am asking about the 'Dissociate Formatting Page Size and Printer Paper Size'.  Can someone at SAP elaborate on this please?

  • Nvidia ethernet config options, need explanation please!

    I've been having lots of disconnects/crashes in online games I play. At first I thought it was my video card or some bios/windows setting, but I recently found (from reading game forum posts of people with the same problem/motherboard) that the onboard ethernet was causing all the disconnects. The other people on the game forum all bought a NIC card to use instead of the onboard LAN and said it completely fixed the problems.
    I'm wondering if the problem could be from bad ethernet config options in the "NVIDIA Web-based interface" which you can get to after installing the firewall software. I have no clue what any of these options do, and was wondering if something in this could be an alternative to buying a NIC card. Does anyone have any experience with these or could offer a quick explanation?

  • CRVS2010 beta - New Page Before option non consistent

    Hello,
    The New Page Before option is on the paging tab on the section expert.
    If I select this option on a group header report section, a new page is not inserted at the beginning of the report like it did in the previous version. Instead the first group prints on the first page.
    On a report that has 2 group header sections, the new page before option does insert a blank page at the beginning of the report.
    I've tried it with the "Keep Together" option on the common tab, selected and not selected and both of above situations still happen.
    I guess my question is whether or not the code for the New Page Before option has been changed since CR2008 first came out. I know that there are service pack upgrades, but when I was using CR2008, I didn't install any of them.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

    I re-tested this again and still notice the same thing.
    Below is how I tested.
    I opened a report that only has one group. When I applied the new page before option for the group header section, the page break was created in the right place.
    When I used a report that has 2 groups, regardless of which group header section that I applied the "new page before" option to, the page break was not right, as explained below
    When applied to the group header 1 section, the first page of the report is blank
    When applied to the group header 2 section, the first page prints the page header info and the group name and no detail records.
    For reports with more than one group, it doesn't seem like the new page before option works as I thought it would (meaning that the page break is applied properly), so I created a formula for the new page before option.
    What I'd like to know is if the output that I described above for reports with at least 2 groups is the way that the "new page before" option is suppose to work or if the option is really only meant to be used on reports that only have one group.
    Thank you

  • Page Setup options cached somewhere?

    I'm trying to help someone in my office who can no longer select "Tabloid" size paper in the Page Setup. We have a Xerox Splash G640 which gives me about fifteen different page sizes in the Page Setup window, but even after deleting her printer from the Printer Setup Utility and re-adding it, she only gets Letter and Legal size. When I started helping her, the Printer Setup Utility said the printer was using the generic postscript driver and I manually changed it to the correct driver. This did not fix the issue, so we deleted and re-added the printer. But, the incorrect page sizes are still in the Page Setup window. If you select another printer from the list in Page Setup and choose Tabloid size paper, the printer prints a Tabloid size image, but on a Letter size piece of paper... She's got Mac OS X 10.4.3 (we're giving everyone updates to 10.4.5 later this week) and although this issue is occurring in any application, we need to print from PhotoShop CS2.
    It appears to me that Mac OS X is "caching" this information somewhere, but I'm not sure where. Is there a folder or file I could delete to try to clear this up?
    -Doug

    Thank you for your reply. I've already replaced the PPD with the one from my computer which does show all the page sizes correctly (on my computer). It appears to be an issue deeper than simply selecting the correct PPD file in the Printer Setup Utility. Somehow, the options in the Page Setup are "stuck" and will not change even if you change the PPD file associated with that printer. You see the same page size options (the incorrect ones) whether that printer is set-up with the "generic" PostScript driver, the correct Mac OS X printer driver or manually selecting the Mac OS 9 printer driver from the Classic System Folder/Extensions/Printer Drivers. No matter which PPD we choose, the wrong page sizes persist in the Page Setup dialog.

  • When I restart, previous tabs & websites open. I have selected open in new page in options this does not work

    When I start my computer and open Firefox, all the tabs from the previous session open. For now, I have to return each session to my home page (Google) prior to closing to prevent this from occuring. I have selected "When Firefox starts show my home page" this does not work. I have de selected and then reselected this option numerous times and it has now become a very big annoyance. I am about to uninstall Mozilla if this cant be rectified.

  • Setup Problem - Need Help Please!!

    My problem is a low hum eminating from my speakers every time I connect my MPC2000 sampler to my audio interface.
    My setup consists of the MPC2000, a Dj Mixer, and my laptop which has an M-Audio interface which I use to connect the mixer & MPC. Basically, as soon as I remove the cables that connect my MPC or my mixer to my interface, the hum stops. I've tried different cables, new cables, a ground adapter for the MPC to change it to 2 prong, and nothing helps. The only thing that DOESN'T cause this hum when plugged into my interface, is my keyboard, so i'm quite sure the interface itself isn't the problem.
    Does anyone know what might be causing this interference that's resulting in a hum? I have exhausted all my own theories and am desperate for some sort of help! Many thanks in advance!!!

    Hi beirut,
    Try the following:
    1.Put the mpc2000,the dj mixer and your computer all in the same power outlet from the wall.
    2.Go to home despot and buy a few gray-colored ground lift plugs (they must be gray)
    3.With these gray ground lift plugs,lift the MPC2000.test the system.No hum=solved problem.hum still there or different,list the DJ mixer.
    4.Is your DJ mixer hooked up to turntables? If so,you need to ground the turntables to a proper ground.Good turntables have a little wire coming out of them,just for that purpose.
    5.Try turning off any TVs,refridgerators,fluorescent lighting(the ones that look like office lights),and other things around your place,and see if the hum goes away.
    6.Try using a DI box for your DJ mixer,to plug it in to the DI,and then out to the audio interface.
    7.And Most Importantly... RUN AND BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND OF AUDIO INTERFACE!!!!!!!!!! M-Audio...yucky yucky yucky!!!
    Cheers

  • I'm new to java and need help please(repost)

    I have an assignment involves modifying a previous assignment. the code for the previous assigment is shown below.(it was required to be done as an applet this assigment can be an application or an applet) I'm trying to modify this code to read a text file (items.txt) that looks like this:
    item # description price(this line does not appear in the text file)
    001 shaving cream 400.00
    999 razors 30.00
    I need to load the item# and price from the text file into arrays(I have no clue how to use multi-dimensional arrays in java and would prefer not to)
    I need to search the arrays based on the values entered by the user (item # and quantity) calculate the total for that item then create a new text file which has each line item for that order in the form:
    item# quant price per item total(price per item*quant entered)
    also also I need to be able to display the four items listed above after each loop as well as all the previous item number and quantities they selected until they indicate they don't want to select anymore.
    I've been working on this for days and it seems like nothing I try works. My major problems are:
    1. I have no idea how to read the text file and load those 2 items into their respective arrays
    2. I can't seem to create a textfile that looks like text for the output file.

    First answer: You shouldn't ask multiple questions in the same thread. Ask a specific question, with an appropriate subject line (optionally, assign the number of Dukes you are willing to give for the help). When question #1 is answered and question #2 arises, it's time for a new thread (don't forget to give out Dukes before moving on).
    Second answer: I think you need a Transfer Object (http://java.sun.com/blueprints/patterns/TransferObject.html). It's whole purpose is to hold/transfer instance data where it is needed. Create a class something like this:
    public class ItemTO
        private String _number;
        private String _description;
        private double _price;
        public ItemTO( String number, String description, double price )
            _number = number;
            _description = description;
            _price = price
        // Getter/Setter methods go here
    }then, in the code where you read in the file do something like this:
    BufferedReader input = null;
    try
        input  = new BufferedReader( new FileReader( "c:\\a.txt" ) );
        List items = new ArrayList();
        String line;
        String itemNumber;
        String itemDescription;
        double itemPrice;
        while ( (line  = input.readLine() ) != null )
         System.out.println( line );
            itemNumber = // Parse it from line
            itemDescription // Parse it from line
            itemPrice = // Parse it from line
            items.add( new ItemTO( itemNumber, itemDescription, itemPrice ) );
    catch ( FileNotFoundException fnfe )
        fnfe.printStackTrace();
    catch ( IOException ioe )
        ioe.printStackTrace();
    finally
        try
            if ( input != null )
                input.close();
        catch ( Exception e )
            e.printStackTrace();
    }As for how to parse the line of the file, I'll leave that to you for now. Are the three values delimited with any special characters?

  • New to iCloud and need help please with getting it working

    I've got an iPad 2 and an iPhone 5 and have decided that it's about time to set up iCloud on my devices. I have followed the instructions on the website and in the icloud settings on both devices have switched on mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari, notes, photostream (my photo stream-on), documents and data, find my iphone, and icloud backup on. I have ensured that both devices have been backed up and automatic downloads on iTunes & App stores have all been switched on.
    I have not yet set up my PC for iCloud.
    My understanding is that icloud will sync new downloads and photos etc so I have just tried taking a picture on my iphone, expecting it to appear in my camera roll on my iPad and nothing has happened.
    Please can someone advise me if I am doing something wrong or how to resolve this.
    Many thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
    Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
    Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
    Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
    If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
    Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

    Any help or sugestions would be greatly appreaciated. I've been working on this for over a week and everything I try goes nowhere.

    item # description price(this
    line does not appear in the text file)
    001 shaving cream 400.00
    999 razors 30.00
    I need to load the item# and price from the text file
    into arrays(I have no clue how to use
    multi-dimensional arrays in java and would prefer not
    to)That's good, because you shouldn't use multidimensional arrays here. You should have a one-dimensional array (or java.util.List) of objects that encapsulate each line.
    I've been working on this for days and it seems like
    nothing I try works. My major problems are:
    1. I have no idea how to read the text file and load
    those 2 items into their respective arrays
    2. I can't seem to create a textfile that looks like
    text for the output file.The java.io package has file reading/writing classes.

    The list doesn't say which one is in which format.
    IN the iTunes menu, click on View, then View Options, and check the "Kind" box. This will display the Kind for each track. if it says "MPEG Audio File," it's an MP3.
    Should all my MP3 files be converted to simplify things.
    No need to convert any music. iTunes can play MP3s.

  • New hard drive issues - need help please!

    So I just installed a new hard drive on my Ideapad S10 and having the following issues.  I get a PXE-E61 : Media test failure check cable & PXE-M0F : Exiting  Broadcom PXE rom message.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drive to check the connection and still get the error, it's a brand new drive.  Also I noticed in the BIOS that the hard drive is showing up under ssd disk and SATA hdd shows - none.  If I restore the BIOS settings to original then the drive will show up under ssd but the SATA controller mode will show the AHCI setting instead of the Compatible setting it should use.
    I'm really stuck here and don't know what else to check.  My orginal drive is dead so I'm trying to get this working so I can install windows.  If anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!

    Full Disclosure:  I don't know your machine.
    That PXE error probably doesn't indicate a problem - or not the problem, anyway.  Your machine boots, doesn't see an operating system on the hard drive (or doesn't see a hard drive at all) and tries to boot over the network and fails. That's what the PXE error is about.
    As to the SATA problems, what happens when you boot your Windows install media?  Does that see a hard drive?

  • Word issues with upgradeing reports built in 10 to crystal 2008

    We have a bunch of reports that were built and running with 10. We are trying to upgrade our servers to run with crystal 2008. The reports built in 10 have been working when run with the crystal 2008 runtime. With the exception of a problem when opening a report in word. I have figured out if I change the page set up in word to be landscape the report will now show fine. Also if i edit the actual rpt to be much narrower than the original, it will execute correctly in word. Has anyone else had this problem? Word will run very slow and there will be blank pages in between a multi page document.

    Hi Bill,
    Not sure what version you are using, get SP1. In the report designer if you got the Page Setup options try checking on Dissociate Formatting Page....
    If you are using RAS and SP1 you can do this in code something like this:
    System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument pDoc = new System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument();
    PrintReportOptions rasPROpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintReportOptionsClass();
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions MYPRTOpts = new PrintOptionsClass();
    if (rdoCurrent.Checked)
                    pDoc.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
                    MYPRTOpts.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
                    MYPRTOpts.PaperSize = (CrPaperSizeEnum)
                             pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes[cboCurrentPaperSizes.SelectedIndex].Kind;
                    MYPRTOpts.PaperSource = (CrPaperSourceEnum)
                             pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSources[cboCurrentPaperTrays.SelectedIndex].Kind;
         // added the below line to verify the changes work.
                    MYPRTOpts.PaperOrientation = CrPaperOrientationEnum.crPaperOrientationLandscape;
                    // new API added to allow changing printing options
                    MYPRTOpts.DissociatePageSizeAndPrinterPaperSize = true;
                    MYPRTOpts.PageMargins.Left = 1;
                    MYPRTOpts.PageMargins.Right = 1;
                    MYPRTOpts.PageMargins.Top = 1;
                    MYPRTOpts.PageMargins.Bottom = 1;
    Thank you
    Don

  • CS3 page setup: in print dialog box???

    I am confused about the page setup in CS3. Coming from Illustr. 10 if I started a drawing in landscape mode and wanted to change into portrait mode I had to change the document and page setup boxes. Now in CS3 there is only a document setup, the page setup is in the print dialog box. Can someone share some light on this?
    Thanks.
    Ulrich

    I think the process is now as it always should have been. It was crazy always having to go to two different dialog boxes just to change one setting. The thinking here is that Illustrator is now smart enough to know to automatically adjust the Page Setup settings for you -- if you rotate the document from Landscape to Portrait for example, AI should be able to figure out on its own that you want it to print that was as well.
    The main point here is that Page Setup options aren't needed much anymore -- most of the options are handled directly within Illustrator's Print dialog (and can hence be saved in Print Presets, etc).
