Crystal Report 2008 Area Chart Data Label Problem

Stacked Area Chart (Layer Cake) Issues:
We would like to use a Crystal Report (2008) Stacked Area Layer Cake chart to show the workload RPD's (Sum of Resources Per Day = Y value axis) and Data_Date of the study (M,Month of study date = X value axis, using fiscal year type cycle Oct - Sept).
Each Stacked Area represents the workload RPD's for a single project, or group of projects.
When showing labels or series information the chart becomes overloaded and not visible to read because there is over 400 data points.
Is there a way to break this dataset down so that values and/or labels are visible, using the crystal report options available? To suppress multiple layers and show a single label per layer?
We tried using the Color Highlight to group and display them by group and condition. The labels and series data points are still over crowded.
We also need to overlay the chart with the Average FC Totals from an additional Crosstab report.  Is there a way to overlay this over the 1st layer of the report?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Pie Chart Data Labels

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure out why I cannot get the option to put pie chart data labels in the center of each slice.  There's an option to place them there, but everytime I select it, the graph reverts to putting the data labels on the outside with leader lines.  I was able to do it once, for one pie chart, but have not been able to get it to work for any others.  I've even tried creating a pie with only two slices in case there's a slice size limit below which the data is placed outside.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it worked once and now won't work again.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jim,
The issue could be faced because of the 'Auto-arrange' layout option enabled from Chart Expert within the report.
This option allows Crystal Reports to reset the chart layout to its original size and position
    To uncheck the 'Auto-arrange option':
    - First Go to Chart Expert-
    - Click on the Options Tab
    - Uncheck Auto - Arrange
    - Click OK
    I hope this helps,
    Selenia

  • Crystal Reports 2008 and Excel data source

I want to use a large Excel-sheet (with 139569 lines) as a data source for a report. Crystal Reports 2008 only seems to accept Excel sheets as a data source if they are stored in Excel 97-2003 format. But, then there is a limit of 65536 lines and I miss more than half of the data I need to process. Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem??

    Hello,
No work around in CR when connecting to xls files. CR can only use xls files which has the 65K row limit. Our next version does support xlxs files though. Cr for VS 2010 is available, no Designer outside of the IDE though. CR 2011 is still in beta and no release data announced yet.
For now all you can do is limit your sheets to 65k or export your XLS files to Access, must also be an MDB file type, not the new extended type. Once in an Access database now you can use it as your data sources.
You can use a temp database so it gets destroyed each time or simple delete all records. Up to you how to manage it.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - Excel 2007 Data Source

Have been using Crystal reports 10 and have downloaded 2008 but I can't see a way that I can use an Excel 2007 spreadsheet .xlsx as a datasource. The reason I need 2007 is due to the increased number of columns.
Can anyone confirm if it can be done if so how
    cheers
    Malcolm

    Hello,
Sorry its not supported. Next version of CR will support it.
CR 2008 will generate sheets for every 65,000 rows of data.
If you need that many coumns you may want to look at some other export format or refining your data.
    Thank you

  • Crystal 11 Stacked Area Chart Data Start Point X-Axis

I am trying to create a Stacked area chart and by default there is space between the y-axis and the first data point on the x-axis. Is there any way to eliminate this space so that the first data point appears directly on the y-axis?

I found the answer to my question. Uncheck the box "Value Axis Crosses Between Groups" in the "Group (X) Axis Settings" dialog box.

    Hi David,
I've seen this before, your Video driver is out dated and you need to update it. Typically the makers of the mother board or video card, which ever one you are using, will have updates for your specific OS. Appears you are using the default Window generic video driver which may not support what CR requires or you have an older usp10.dll. You will likely get a new one if you install Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Also, Crystal Reports version: 12.1.0.883 is SP 1 and not SP 2., second number is the Service Pack, 12.x.x.x.
Download SP 4 and see if that may help:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100008782452011E/cr2008sp4.exe
    Or incrementally:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009038092009E/cr2008win_sp2.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100008782452011E/cr2008sp4.exe
And you may need SP 3 or if you want to start off clean download the full build of SP 3 and then SP 4. Requires the keycode so make sure you have it, we can't give you a new one.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Charting Component

When attempting to create a new report using the bar chart type, I receive the following error from the report wizard:
Crystal Reports Charting Component sscsdk80.dll could not be found
Please re-run the installation to fix this problem.
I have re-run the installation, selecting additional features of custom charting, and mapping and it did not solve the problem. I have tried to manually register sscsdk80.dll with regsvr32 and that fails:
Load Library Failed. The specified module could not be found. Which must refer to a dependency (?) of that .dll since sscsdk80.dll is obviously present.
I have tried copying sscsdk80.dll to the windows\system32 directory and manually registering with regsvr32 and that fails as well.
Any help would be appreciated. Trying to avoid un-installing and re-installing the entire Crystal Reports 2008 application.

We had 2 users with this error this week, both on CR2008 SP2.
The file is located here, assuming BO/Crystal is installed to the default location: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
I copied the .dll file to this location: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\bin
That stopped the error coming up and the graphs are displaying correctly. Had a similar error with the keydecoder.dll which I resolved by doing the above. Re-installing SP2 fixed the keydecoder.dll error for a while but then it started re-occuring and I tried the above fix, and the error hasn't come back.
    We're on XP SP3.

  • Problems with consuming SAP BW WSDL in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello,
I am trying to use the WSDL generated from the SAP BW in Crystal Reports 2008 using the XML and Web Services driver, but when I input the WSDL url Crystal does not interpret the url passed in as a WSDL url and the Services, Port and Method drop downs are blank.
If I manually input the values I get the error below from Crystal
    "Logon failed.
Details: Web Service Location is invalid
WSDL Exception (at /wsdl:definitions/wsdl:portType/wsp:Policy): faultCode=INVALID_WSDL:Encountered unexpected element
    'Policy'."
I know this is a valid WSDL as I have tested it with Xcelsius 2008 and I am able to get data back in Xcelsius. I found SAP note 1485601 that talks about Crystal Reports not being able to reading a WSDL generated by a SAP system.
               https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1485601
Based on the error message from Crystal above I feel that Crystal is unable to read the WSDL URL, has anyone else encountered this issue, if so is there a possible work around.
We are running Crystal Reports 2008 V1 SP3 FP 3 and the SAP Integration Kit is also on the same service pack and patch level.
Any help or insight into the issue will be very helpful.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

    Ingo,
I am using the "XML and Web Services" connection option in Crystal Reports, and using a HTTP WSDL.Here is a sample of how WSDL url generated by SAP BW.
    http://servername:8000/sap/bc/srt/wsdl/bndg_DF6E553E117931F19C6B001560A1B616/wsdl11/allinone/ws_policy/document?sap-client=100
We have a two structure BW query (one for keyfigures and one as characteristic structure ), I know that this will cause the structure for the characteristics to show up as a single field and each element of the structure will result in a row of data, but we need the individual elements on the structure and we were hoping to get around the MDX driver limitation by using the web service connection.
The data in the Crystal Reports 2008 needs to be in a crosstab layout as shown below, but if we use the Crosstab expert the key figures are stacked one under the other and also we cannot get the labels from the KPI structure to show up on the Crystal Reports.
                   Characteristic Structure
                 Column1            Column2                     Column3
    Label 1          KeyFigure 1          KeyFigure 2                    KeyFigure 3
    Label 2          KeyFigure 1          KeyFigure 2                KeyFigure 3
    Label 3          KeyFigure 1          KeyFigure 2                    KeyFigure 3
This layout is already built in a Web Template and therefore we were planning on using the WSDL to get the layout directly into Crystal report, but I keep running into the WSDL error when I try to consume the WSDL in Crystal.
    Thanks,
    Kumar

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - dynamic parameters not returing all data

I am having the same issue with Crystal Reports 2008. Only returning 135 customers in a dynamic paramaters when the list should be 3288.
When I re-create the parameter by using a command instead of relying on Crystal to return the data from the db table Crystal returns only 5"pages" of customers to select from.
I have tried to run the report with this reduced selection & it then crashes.
    Any ideas??

This article may help you to increase the number of values in the parameter
    KBase Article ID:c2017238
Article refers to: Crystal Reports XI BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
    Symptom
For performance reasons, in Crystal Reports XI Release 1 and Release 2 the maximum number of values that are returned for a list of values is set to 1000. If you have a cascading List of Values (for example Country > Region > City), the lowest level (in this case City) will only display a maximum of 1000 values. This means that the higher-level prompts may display far fewer values than you expect. The list of values provides the data for the dynamic parameter list.
How can you modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list?
    Resolution
To increase the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list, you must add a registry key.
CAUTION     The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys and Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 1
    1.     Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
NOTE     Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
    2.     Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter. NOTE: The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
NOTE     The higher the number of values is, the longer it will take the Enter Values dialog box to populate with values.
    3.      After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 2
    1.     Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
NOTE     Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
    2.     Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter.
NOTE     The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
    3.     After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.

  • Crystal Report 2008 export to text problem

    Hello,
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 for generating reports in our WPF application. In this application, we are exporting the report to txt file on a button click. Now the application contains a form called u2018Print Manageru2019, through which the user can print the exported report(text files). Now the issue, when we try to the any of the exported report file through the application, the printer leaves alternate blank pages. The printer used in this case is DOT MATRIX EPSON LQ-1150II ESC/P2. We even tried printing the text file on HP Laser jet 4600, but the same issue is faced.
Also, please note that when I try to read the exported txt file, a formfeed(u2018\fu2019 page break) character  can be seen  at the place where the printer leaves a blank page. Hence, my concern is, Is there any property of crystal report that I am missing on or is this a printer driver issue? But if it would have been a driver issue, then changing the printer might have solved the issue.
I also  tried  doing u2018Keep Togetheru2019 property = false of all the sections of the report. Also, I found that the u2018New Page Afteru2019 property = true and disabled for the u2018Page Footeru2019 section. So I set u2018New Page Afteru2019 property = false programmatically as
    rdTest.ReportDefinition.Sections["Section5"].SectionFormat.EnableNewPageAfter = false;
    but no luck.
If anyone has faced similar problem or have any clues, please help!
Any kind of help in solving this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in anticipation!

    Good morning.
We've got something to get straight first
When you say "...from the Report Viewer. The report printed as expected on HP printer...", do you mean the viewer of the .NET app, or the viewer of the CR designer?
    And version 12.0.0.683, is very old (well as far as CR is concerned anyhow   ). That version is SP 1, we are now on SP 2. So that will be the place to start. Get to SP 2 which can be downloaded from here;

  • Problem in Crystal Report 2008 selectionFormula

    Post Author: saro_j
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi,
I am having a strange problem in Crystal report 2008. Earlier I was using VS 2005 Crystal report. Then we purchased Crystal report 2008.
When I open the VS 2005 projects it asks the reports to convert into Crystal report 2008. I did that.
Earlier I was using the following syntax for passing the date as selectionFormula
    Dim selectionFormula As String = "{tblClient.Name} = '" & ddlClient.SelectedItem.Text & "' and {TBILL_File_Format.Week Ending Date} = #" _& Convert.ToDateTime(DtCtrlProDateFrom.DateTimeValue) & "#u201D WeeklyReportByClientNameReport.DataDefinition.RecordSelectionFormula = selectionFormula
But now when I run this same it says
This field name is not known. Details: errorkind Error in the file rptWeeklyReport.rpt: Error in formula Record_selection:
    u2018{tblClient.Name} = 'ABC10' and "{TBILL_File_Format.Week Ending Date} = #04/20/2008#u2019 This field name is not known. Details: errorkind
I have no idea about this
Even If I tried to pass as follows
    selectionFormula = "{TBILL_File_Format.Week Ending Date} = DateTime (2008, 04, 25, 00, 00, 00) and {TBILL_File_Format.Client Code} = 'ABC10' "
I couldnu2019t see any record on the report except Grouptree of the report. If I export the report it has all the data as I expected.
Please help me out on this regards.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
I use CR2008 and VS2005, it never asked me to convert the file into VS2005. What do you mean by VS 2005 asked you to convert the file? Did you make the file in CR2008 and then imported it into VS2005 as a Report Document?
I usually create a report on CR2008 and then move that report (copy) to the same folder as VS project folder, then from there I create a new Report Doc in VS and open the file.
As you mentioned when you export the report it works fine but when you run it it gives errors. I think it is because of the import of the report. Look at the error message as it says the field name is not known, I suspect it is not connected/imported properly.
"This field name is not known.
Details: errorkind"
I think it is becasue of the import of the report or could be becasue you didnt save the report with an option of "save report data". Check your report and reimport it. might fix the problem:D

  • Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Additional parameter values are needed

I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008 SP3, and now when I try an export a report from the Crystal Reports Designer, I get the error "Additional parameter values are needed before this report can be saved or viewed with data.  Click 'Ok' to enter the missing values or 'Cancel' to proceed without data".  I am trying to export the report to Crystal Reports format.  The report is getting data from a MS SQL 2005 stored proc. I tried building a new simple report (just took all the fields in the result set and put them in the details section) using the same stored proc, and get the same error when I try to export.
FYI, before I try to export I always preview the data in the report, so the parameters are defiantly set correctly.
This was working correctly in Crystal Reports 2008 SP2.

Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

  • Crystal Reports 2008 failed to retrive data, and instead deleted it.

I have been using crystal reports 2008 for the past year or so with our billing software through an OBDC data source. I was using xp pro sp3. However I recently upgraded to a new computer running xp pro sp3 as well, and now I am having some serious issues.
When I try to connect to a data source in the database expert, it shows all the tables, and then the field explorer shows the fields, but when I actually try to brows the data, view a preview, verify the database, or refresh an old report it gives me an error and DELETES the .dat file that the field was located in. I am so glad I have regular backups to restore too, because pulling a report nuked 5 .dat files.
The errors I am getting are as follows:
"Failed to retrieve data from database."
    Clicked ok
"Failed to retrieve data from database."
    Clicked ok
"Database Connector Error: 'HY000:[Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][LNA][Pervasive][ODBC Engine Interface][Data Record Manager]The file cannot be created with Variable-trail Allocation Tables (VATs)(Btrieve Error 105)'"
    Clicked ok
"Failed to retrieve  data from database.
    Details:HY000:[Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][LNA][Pervasive][ODBC Engine Interface]Unable to open table: <nameoftable>"
    Click ok
and Crystal stays open but has just deleted the .dat file that the table was located in. It will still show the fields but  no data. Trying to open the other software leads to an error "missing <name of table>.dat" It then has to be restored from a backup.
I have tried updating crystal as well as fully uninstalling it and reinstalling it, we have created a new ODBC connection, and cloned the database for testing purposes. The same thing occurs with the new database and ODBC data source.
We have no other computers, except my old one that has crystal reports on it. I have tried the old computer again and it is working fine.
Does anyone have an suggestions? This is pretty critical. Thanks in advance.

Hello, you could try turning on ODBC tracing to see if it logs anything. It's a pain to get going but here's how.
Go to ODBC Admin, Click on the Tracing tab and create a log file and save. Don't start tracing yet. Close the ODBC admin and then re-open it and then turn tracing on. You may have to do this a few times to get it working.
Once it's tracing then open CR and try the demo data. Then close the report, log off, log onto the real data and do the same with a new report. You'll see a bunch of ODBC API's but there may be one or 2 that don't look right or errors may be logged compared to the DEMODATA.
Another suggestion is it may not be your PC doing the deleting. Maybe the Server thinks you have infected the data files and it's deleting them. Have a look in anti-virus quarantine logs on the server to see if it's doing the nasty....
Check the trust between your PC and the server.
I've also seen this type of odd behaviour with corrupted Profiles. Check with your IT guys on creating a new one for you, it's apain because you loose everything on your work station.
What happens if you log on from another PC using your account? Does that also delete the files? Or get someone else who it does work for log into your PC, does that work? If so it may be your Profile is either not trusted or it's been corrupted.
    Good luck
    Don
