Crystal Reports prompting for creds when viewed from BO 4

The environment:
Business Objects Enterprise 4, sp2 patch 8
SAP ECC 6.0, kernel 701, sup. pkg. lvl 137
This is a new BOE 4 installation on a test system.  The BOE installation has been configured to use Windows AD authentication with SSO.  When I run a Crystal Report that is based on SAP ECC data, I am prompted for credentials.  So I used the following document to configure BOE for SSO to DB:
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/HowtosetupSSOagainstSAPBWinSBOBI4.0forLDAPusers
This didn't fix the problem.  SAP ECC reports in BOE still prompt for creds when viewed.  SAP Authentication is verifiably working, but I'm not sure if SSO to DB is working.  One thing I've noticed is that when I log in to BOE using SAP authentication and view the report, I'm not prompted for creds.  In BOE I added my Windows AD acct as an alias in my SAP acct, but I may have either done this incorrectly, or there may be something I need to do in addition.
question 1:  Is there an easy way to verify if SSO to DB is working correctly?
question 2:  In CMC --> Authentication --> SAP --> Entitlement Systems --> User Name, I'm assuming that this is an SAP user name.  What roles/profiles does this account need?  Should it be a dialog acct?
question 3:  Our ECC system is configured to use SNC.  Do I need to configure SNC in BOE for SSO to DB to work?
question 4:  I added my Windows AD user as an alias on my SAP user record.  I'm not sure this is correct...  can someone verify?
Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks, Ingo.  Once I got snc configured, everything began working wonderfully.
I used this document as a guide:

  • Crystal Report prompts for username / pwd when deployed to Bus Obj Server

    Hi All,
    I'm relatively new to Crystal Reports development.  My day job is test analyst.  I'm reasonably technically proficient.
    PROBLEM
    I have created a number of Crytsal Reports which have now been deployed to an Enterprise Business Objects Report Server.  The Server is Business Objects Server XI release 2.
    When I run the report in Crystal Reports Desiger 2008 it does not prompt me to enter the database credentials except if I have modified the SQL command or some other report detail.  Most times I run the report, no database username / pwd is required because I already set this up in the datasource config.
    I' connecting to an Oracle database using ODBC (RDO) connection type.  I cannot get the ODBC (RDO) connection type working from my PC using Crystal Reports Designer 2008, because I don't have ODBC configured for my datasource.  Instead, Im using the native Oracle Server driver to connect to my datasource.
    An existing user in the client organisation configured my report to use the ODBC (RDO) conneciton type for me because the Business Objects Server in the client organisation does not (currently) support the native Oracle driver.  Other reports this user has created and deployed using the ODBC conenction type run successfully without prompting user to enter the database connection credentials.
    NOTE:
    This report users an SQL Command (new to Crystal 2008 I beleive?).  The command is reqiured for this report due to the complexity of the underlying SQL query.
    Does anybody know why the report keeps prompting me to enter the database credentials at runtime?  Obviously for security reasons I don't want report users to have to enter the database schema name and password in order to run the report.

    Hi,
    You need to uncheck "Propmt the user for database logon when viewing". You will find this when you deploy the report on the BOE XI R2.
    The deployment step main heading is
    Specify Databse Crendentials.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks

  • Preview and print a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
    Our customer has Crystal report add-on to be installed. When we Preview and print a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password...
    Every time when I open my report in Crystal Basic 2008 on the server, then go database expert >> My connections >> click + in front of the connection name, it asks my sa password. I type in my password then save and close. Next time when I open the report and go my connections, I have to type in my password again. This only happens on one customer.
    Any idea? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Yuka,
    1) All their SAP client workstation, they have to have use SQL2008 CD and install SQL Client on it
    Correct, MS does NOT support MDAC or WDAC when connecting to SQL 2008.
    2) Then go ODBC >> SQL Native Client 10.0 >> Create a new connection to SAP server. Should we use sa user or another use that has the same authorization as sa?
    Correct again if they are also using ODBC to connect, as for using the sa account or creating a new one is up to you. I suggest creating a Crystal account with what ever rights your app needs, this way if tracing it turned on etc. you can confirm who is actually running the report.
    3) Then from MY Crystal report, I have to use ODBC connection as well?
    Just to clarify, if you created your reprots using OLE DB then they can do so also. But you need to update your connection properties. Open each report click on Database, Set Location, scroll down to OLE DB and expand and then choose MS SQL Server Native 10 as your OLE DB provider, fill in all the logon info and then verify the database. Do the same for each subreport also.
    Save your report and either send them the new one or if you are doing this remotely then replace the original report.
    VERIFY your reports to confirm they still return correct data and do work as expected.
    Or if you are using ODBC then yes you do select the MS 10 driver with a new DSN. Then do the above to update the reports to all use ODBC as their data sources.
    Hope this is all clear now....
    Thanks again

  • Crystal report parameters not available when running from within SAP B1

    Hi
    I have found this problem a few times already and I think it is now about time I find a solution for it.
    On my latest Crystal report, I have 2 parameters.
    The 1e is a dynamic parameter, allowing the user to select multiple groups.
    The 2nd is also a dynamic parameter, allowing the user to select only a single item.
    These parameters works fine in Crystal and do what they are supposed to do.
    After publishing the report in SAP Busines One (SBO) and viewing it from within SBO, the 2 parameter prompts are still there but without the dynamic list to select any data from.
    On a previous report where a parameter has been defined as "Any value can be entered for the parameter" once again worked fine in crystal but from within SBO the parameter allowed no value to be entered.
    Have anyone got a solution for this.
    Regards
    Burger

    Sorry guys
    You have lost me. I have searched the form and I have worked through the whole pdf you suggested.
    I have no idea what I am supposed to do or see or use "ItemGroup@ SELECT ItmsGrpCod, ItmsGrpNam FROM OITB ORDER BY ItmsGrpCod"
    As a test I created a test report with the following parameters to test how it would present itself in B1
    1.     A static parameter with no list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = True u2013 B1 result. A box that I could enter anything. Defeating the object as I wanted a list of valid options
    2.     A static parameter with no list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. A box that I could enter anything. Defeating the object as I wanted a list of valid options
    3.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = True u2013 B1 result. A box that I could select multiple values from a list. I could not add my own value. Defeating the object as the list is static
    4.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. A drop down box where I could select one of the values. Defeating the object as the list is static
    5.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = False, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. Same as in point 4
    6.     A Dynamic parameter. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. Same as in point 1 & 2. No Dynamic list returned and can not add own option
    As mentioned. All the parameters work in Crystal as one expect it to. What I am after is what should I change in B1 so that the report works the same as in Crystal.
    Where in B1 should it be changes and to what should it be changed.
    If the changes should be done in crystal to cater for B1 then what should be changes where to what
    I am not that familiar with B1.
    In my test report I use B1 table OITM.
    My parameter is Item (Crystal syntax {?Item}) and I use it in a filter to say {OITM.ItemCode} = {?Item}

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Server Error when viewing report

    Hello All,
       I have loaded a CR 2008 report onto the CR 2008 Server. When I view the report from InfoView or CMC, I get the following error message:
    Error in File <report name>: Unknown Database Connector Error .
    I setup the ODBC datasources on the server as they are on my client PC where the Report originally worked. Are the ODBC datasource connections supposed to copy over with the report? Or do I have to manually enter them into the "Database Configuration" section?
    Thank you in advance.

    1212487 - Error: "CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server. Error Number:-2147221005"
    Symptom
    A report is called through the Active Server Pages (ASP) Report Server to be displayed in the Report Viewer for ActiveX. However, the report is displayed with blank pages and when the viewer is switched to the Report Viewer for HTML the following error is displayed:
    "CRAXDRT Error Occurred on Server. Error Number:-2147221005 Error Description: 006ASP 0177 Server.CreateObject Failed~Invalid Class String"
    The same ASP application returns the report correctly when it is called from a client computer with the full version of Crystal Report 8 Developer Edition installed.
    Resolution
    It was found that the file, Emfgen.dll, was not installed and registered on the web server computer during the installation of the Crystal Reports ASP Reports Server. The report could be displayed correctly on the client computer, without Crystal Reports Developer Edition installed, after this file had been installed on the web server computer.

  • Report yields no data when viewing from InfoView

    Post Author: Johannes
    CA Forum: Publishing
    I've just installed CRXi server and I'm now trying to publish a simple Crystal report.
    First of all, this report accesses a date field that's a string format yyyymmdd.  I'd like the report to run for today, in the format mmddyyyy.  So I created a formula to convert the date string field to the system's date.  it works when I run the report in CRXi.
    When I publish the report onto the server, it only prints the report header and no data.
    Has anyone come across this?  I can't seem to find anything on the help files.  I tried different viewers such as Acrobat reader, Active X - no difference.
    Any help for this newbie would be appreciated.

    Hi
    SQL services are running under MSSQL_MSSQLSERVER, when changing owner of the CreateCache job to NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT it works, but after SQL reboots the domain account are there again. I think it will work if a use a copy of the job and set the SQLSERVERAGENT.
    I talked to some SQL guys about this and they saw that the script use the owner to execute the script.
    However this is not a recommended solution. I will install SP1 very soon and see if there is any change.
    By the way installations instructions for SP1 are really bad but I assume that we can use the same approach as we did when going from MBAM 1.0>2.0?

  • Crystal Report Prompt For Enter Parameter Values

    Hi,
    I did a report with 2 subreports embeded in VS2005 using VB and it worked fine but when I ported the whole application to VS2008 the above problem occurs. Here are some codes:
        Private Sub btnPreview_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnPreview.Click
            Dim viewer As New frmReportPreview
            Dim rpt As New ReportDocument
            Try
                rpt.Load("C:\Report\crptMain.rpt")
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text)
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text, "crptSubReport1.rpt")
                rpt.SetParameterValue("Code", Me.cbxCode.Text, "crptSubReport2.rpt")
                viewer.report = rpt
                viewer.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
                viewer.ShowDialog()
            Catch crptEx As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.EngineException
                MessageBox.Show(crptEx.Message, "Crystal Report Errors...")
            Catch ex As Exception
                MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Crystal Report Errors...")
            End Try
        End Sub
    Private Sub frmReportPreview_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
            Dim rpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            Try
                Me.CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = m_report
                Me.CrystalReportViewer.RefreshReport()
            Catch ex As Exception
                MessageBox.Show(ex.Message, "Error...")
            End Try
        End Sub

    Subreport Parameters are contained within the Main Report's ParameterFieldDefinitions collection. Passing Subreport Parameter values directly to the Subreport will result in the values not being applied and the user being prompted at runtime to provide new values.

    Hello,
    Information needed..
    Version of Crystal Reports?
    Version of Visual Studio?
    Type of data connectivity used? (i.e. OLEDB, ODBC)
    Did you diploy the application? How? (MSM's or MSI's)
    If the new machine is also a developement environment, does the report work from designer?
    Version of windows on prev and new machine?
    Make sure that..
    If the application is deployed, the proper runtimes are installed.
    The database provider is installed.
    The target database is located where it should be.
    The target database is unchanged.
    One question per thread please.

  • Crystal Reports are not centered when viewing on Crystal Viewer

    Hi
    I´d like to ask you if you reported some problem of using subreports and during the visualization from the Crystal Viewer the main report and of course the subreports are not centered. I´m running Vs.Net 2005 with CR 10.
    The main report and subreports access ADO.NET. Only one parameter is passed by the user. If we test the application and address the visualization to the crystal report viewer it is showed on right side even using DisplayGroupTree = False. But if we export the report to PDF it is showed centered. Is it a way to fix this one?
    Any advice or suggestions?
    Tks,
    Isocler

    When you say you're using v10 with VS2005, do you mean the full CR v10 product or the version that comes with VS.NET 2005 (version 10.2)?  Make sure you're using/referencing the 10.2.* CR assemblies in your project, as the 10.0.* are not supported.
    If you have the correct assemblies referenced, then make sure you have the latest patches applied.  I think there may have been a fix for DIV tags.

  • Preview a Crystal report prompted for the sa password

    Dear All,
    When our customer preview a Crystal report, we got a window prompted for the sa password. Even we type in a correct password, it still says wrong password.
    Only two user computer have this problem.
    How do I solve it?
    Regards,
    Karen

    I install Crystal Reports Designing Software on those computers which canu2019t preview reports.
    Then start the Crystal Reports design software to open the problem report.
    It usually asks to enter the column on the interface u201COLE DB (ADO) u2013 Connect Informationu201D.
    But it gets into the interface u201COLE DB (ADO) u2013 OLE DB Supplieru201D.
    I correct the setup and save the report.
    The problem is solved.
    I try many methods, but only this one can solve my problem.
    If you have another solution, please tell me, thanks!

  • Crystal Report Instance - running query when viewing?

    Hi
    Why would a Crystal Report that was scheduled and completed success fully try to run the query again when I click on the instance?  Isn't it just suppose to render the report when one clicks on the instance?
    Thanks
    Kim

    i think its as i told you before, its something related with the parameters, you can have multiple instances with different parameter values.
    and there is many other technical issues, i dunn know if you read about it or not you can revise back the Crystal Report user guide
    you can get it from here
    http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/overview/index.htm

  • Report does not prompt for parameters when SeparatePages=False

    Hi all. We are using CR2008 Basic w/SP1 along with VS2008. Within our application, reports pull up fine and prompt for parameters using the CrystalReportViewer against the web service. SeparatePages is set to True. We want to change SeparatePages to False, but when I do that any report that should prompt for parameters is not.
    The reports were created in CR 8.5. We have upgraded them to CR2008 (open, refresh, save) which has greatly increased performance. With some further testing, I've discovered that if I take a report that doesn't currently have any parameters and add one via VS2008 report designer, it WILL prompt for the parameter when I run it in our application with SeparatePages=False.
    So I'm leaning that the problem has to do with the reports originally being created in 8.5. I've tried modifying an existing report with parameters, deleting parameters and re-adding, but I still can't get these to prompt for parameters with SeparatePages=False.
    Again, these same reports prompt for parms and work fine as long as SeparatePages=True.  I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. There are over 400 reports so re-creating them from scratch under CR2008 will be a painful option
    If I need to provide any additional information just let me know. Thank you!
    Sheila

    We are still working to resolve this issue. Testing has shown that for reports that don't return a lot of data, the prompt for parameters will display. But for larger reports, we just see the hour glass and the parameter prompt never displays. It's almost like the reports are trying to return the full dataset without any paramters being passed BEFORE it will prompt for parameters. This would explain why smaller reports will prompt and larger reports never will (?). Not sure that is what is happening.  Again, with SeparatePages=True we are immediately given the parameter prompt. With SeparatePages=False we run into the issue of no prompts.
    Here's the code behind if it help:
    ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
    try
        String rptFileName = @"App_Data\Reports\" + Request.QueryString.GetValues(0).GetValue(0).ToString();
        log.writeLog("Loading Report: " + rptFileName);
        String rptFile = Server.MapPath(rptFileName);
        report.Load(rptFile);
        report.Refresh();
        ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
        log.writeDebugLog("ServerName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.ServerName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("DatabaseName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("UserID : " + rProperties.ODBCUser);
        crConnectionInfo.UserID = rProperties.ODBCUser;
        log.writeDebugLog("Password : " + rProperties.ODBCPassword);
        crConnectionInfo.Password = rProperties.ODBCPassword;
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in report.Database.Tables)
            TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
            crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
    catch (Exception err)
        log.writeLog("Error Loading Report: " + err.ToString());
        this.lblError.Text = err.ToString();
        this.ErrorTable.Visible = true;
        this.ReportTable.Visible = false;
        return;
    CrystalReportViewer1.HasCrystalLogo = false;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report; // _serverFileReport;

  • Crystal Report/STRUTS: Error (404) when clicking on Control Buttons (Print, Export, Next, Previous, etc...) on report viewer

    Post Author: jwenny
    CA Forum: Deployment
    Need help badly!!!
    We are using the crystal reports plugin for STRUTS.
    We are able to display the report in the crystal report viewer.  However, when we click any control buttons (print, export, etc...), then we get:
    JSPG0036E:  Failed to find resource /Report-viewer.jsp
    We then moved Report-viewer.jsp to the WebContents folder (root directory) and got a different error when we clicked any control button:
    Error:  400 page not found
    Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  For instance, is there a setting or parameter that needs to be set?
    Greatly appreciate any help!

    HI,
    Whenever we print the viewer does an auto postback, I believe due to this some of the values are getting missed. Moreover we are referring to the viewer and reportdocument object, it seems. So can you try this simple code in an application to see if it helps:
    ReportDocument rdoc = new ReportDocument();
    rdoc.Load("C:\TASKECrystalReports\Intraday.rpt");
    rdoc.SetDatabaseLogon("uid","pwd");
    rdoc.SetParameterValues("parameter name","value");
    CrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = rdoc;
    Helps?
    Thanks.

  • Switch from OINV to ODRF in Crystal Report layout for print the Invoice?

    Hi,
    I have imported in Sap Business One some standard report developed by Sap with Crystal Report (like Sales Invoice).
    I have try to print my Invoices and all is OK, then I have try to print a Draft Invoice and, even in this case, is all ok. Then I have open the Crystal Report designer for this print module, and the entry point is the OINV table. How can he print succesful the Draft Invoice (that is in the ODRF table ObjType = 13)? Formula Field? I don't understand!!
    Thank for the help!!
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
    You only need a single Crystal report for this. Base it on a stored procedure which has two INT type parameters @DocKey and @ObjectId. Within your SQL create IF blocks to handle different @ObjectId values:
    IF @ObjectId = 13 then use the invoices tables OINV/INV1 etc.
    IF @ObjectId = 112 then use the draft tables ODRF/DRF1 etc.
    Don't forget to put the @ symbol at the end of the parameter in the report itself. That is all that is needed to create a single report that works for both added invoices and draft invoices. You could extend the SQL to handle other @ObjectId values like 14 for AR Credit Notes and so on.
    Regards,
    Andrew.

  • Crystal Report with subreports breaks when running on different databases.

    HI there
    I have a report with 5 subreports on that only works on the database I am designing it on. As soon as I run the report through my application on a database different to the one I design on, it seems to have lost all the parameter fields I created in one of the subreports (the one I have just added, the other 4 work fine) used to link to the main report.
    It then pops up with the Parameter Value box and asks for values for 2 parameters that I do not use to link to the subreport, nor have added to the subreport in design time, and in code when I step through the parameterfields list property, the parameters I added in design time to the subreport are not in the list but somehow these 2 parameter fields have been added to the subreport? These 2 parameters have the same names as some main report parameters which have been set already, but as mentioned these somehow now belong to the subreport.
    When I run the report through my app on the database I design on all parameters are present and the report works fine.
    The parameters in the subreport are all command parameters, linking to a command field, a formula field and another non-command parameter in the main report. All these are set and work fine in the main report.
    I set all the parameter values in code to the main report, and the subreports all use those to link to.
    I am using CR v10.2 with VB2008 using .NET 2.0 framework (although I had similar problems in VB2005), where the report links directly to a SQL databse via commands. There are 4 commands in the main report and one in the problematic subreport. The subreports command incudes a SQL "IF" statement based on one of the parameters I am linking from the main report.
    Please let me know if more info is required.
    Thanks.

    Hello, Eugen;
    I understand you are using Visual Studio .NET 2008 with bundled Crystal Reports Basic for 2008 (10.5). Do you have a full version of Crystal Reports you use to design reports with or are you designing inside Visual Studio .NET?
    I would like to suggest some ways to test and narrow down the issue.
    One subreport appears to be changing the parameters used when the underlying database changes. Is there a change in the Command it is based on?
    Create a simple report using the same command and the same database as is used in the problem subreport. Run it to confirm you get the same data as in the original.
    Now in design, go into Database|Set Datasource location and change to the new datasource. Do a Database|Verify database. Do you see the change in parameter fields you are seeing at runtime? Has the Command changed? Does it run through the application?
    If you see the same change there, it will have to be addressed in the designer first. If it runs well there, let us look further at the application.
    What is the order of your code?
       Open main report
       Logon to database
       Pass parameters
       Open each subreport
       Logon to the database
       Pass parameters
       View the report.
    Do you set all database locations before passing parameters?
    Were any of the parameters created as "NULL" in the designer?
    Once I have the answers to these questions we can look a little further.
    Elaine
