CS2 file opens in CS5.5 with inaddressable spaces

I have a very lengthy InDesign file created using Creative Suite 2 which file opens in InDesign 5.5 filed with spaces that can't be addressed in any way; e.g., using "Keep Options" or backspace or any relaxations of Master Pages, which don't even show up using the Page menu choice to begin with. Anyone know how to correct this without having to copy and past to a fresh CS 5.5 ID file?

I installed my ancient CS2 Indesign and when I attempt to open a file created seven years ago therewith I'm prompted that a variety of snap-ons are missing. I've copied screen shots of the prompts below. Where can I find these snap-ons? I only installed CS2 Indesign. If I'd have installed everything, would that have picked up the missing snap-ons? I'm posting this issue in this forum as an independent question. If you don't know the answer maybe Bob Levine will. The second image below is a scroll view from which I've only copied the top of the scroll.

Adobe's software is a mess in terms of the fact that it's sprayed all over the place and may not survive an OS upgrade. Try reinstalling Photoshop CS5.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. In OS X, by default apps will open with any previously opened documents opening as well. To disable this feature, select "Close windows when quitting an application" from System Preferences > General. To learn more, see this article:

PS CS5.1 crashes when using file open but not with bridge or "open as smart object"

I'm using a Mac with Snow Leopard and Photoshop CS5.1 Extended
When i try to open a file largen than ~50MB with double click in finder or with file>open in PS, the program loads the psd and shows it, then 2-3 seconds later PS crashes. If the psd is under ~50MB everything is fine.
If i open it with file>open as smart object or via the mini bridge, everything is fine, and i can work with it.
How can this be fixed?

Can a PDF saved from cs6 be opened in cs5 with layers intact?

I have a client who insists on receiving final files as PDFs saved as Illustrator Default with Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities ticked. This wasn't an issue until I upgraded to cs6. In cs6 I'm saving the native file as cs5, and then saving as PDF with the following options:
The client is able to open the PDF in cs5 but the layers are all flattened into a single layer. Is there way to Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities for any version other than cs6?

The only way is to downsave the AI file to a CS5 and export from there. There are too many changes from CS5 to CS6 for this not to happen.

InDesign CS2 files showing as CS5

Hi all,
I currently have CS2 and CS5 running on my computer.
Some of my files which were saved in CS2 are now showing as CS5 files, which means I can no longer open them using CS2.
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to make sure that CS2 files are not automatically chaneged?

Windows or Mac?
Mac will only show the most current version for all files. Windows will show the correct version via the icon.

NEF file opening in CS5 as a smart object

My CS5 recently started opening up all my Nikon raw files as smart objects. I don't want that. How do I make it stop? This never happened before nor am I aware of me changing any of the settings. Any help would be great. Thanks

Double-click on *.rep file opens in DeskI with "File Reservation" why?

If I double click on myreport.rep it opens the report in DeskI but pops up a Window headed "File Reservation" with the message "myreport.rep is being modified by another user or application. Open as Read-Only, or choose Notify to be alerted when it is available." and buttons Read Only, Notify and Cancel.
If I logon to DeskI and then open the report using File->Open then there is no problem. Why can't I open it by double-clicking on it?
I am using BOXI R2 with SP4 and LAfix_409 on Windows XP to access a BOXI R2 SP4 Enterprise server running on AIX and I am using Enterprise Authentication to logon to DeskI.

Following solution might help you to resolve the issue:
Try deleting the following folders in the registry:
- Start -> Run -> Enter 'regedit'
-Locate and delete the following sub-folders:
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\default\BusinessObjects\Application Preferences\Business Reporter\Desktop Intelligence
and
-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\default\BusinessObjects\Guest User Prefs
Note: Before performing the above mentioned tests please take the backup of the registry.

Can't open orf files in Photoshop CS5 with latest updates.

Hi folks,
I have a user having trouble opening orf files. When the problem was first brought to my attention we couldn't open nef files either. I installed the Adobe Camera Raw plugin and then the nef files could be opened but not the orf files.
Does anyone know why this would be and what can be done to fix the problem?

It may be that the camera is not supported by the camera raw 6.7 plugin for photoshop cs5.
(camera raw 6.7 is the newest camera raw plugin supported by photoshop cs5)

If the camera(s) are not supported by 6.7, then you can use the 8.7 dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which photoshop cs5 should then be able to open.

Opening .ait file saved in cs5, with cs3?

Hello,
I'm having some problems properly opening an Illustrator Template file in CS3 that I saved when I was using CS5 (I use CS6 now). My co-worker uses CS3 and can't open the template I made using CS5. I haven't found an option anywhere to be able to downsave the template file to an earlier version. Is there a solution that can be used to be able allow my co-worker to open the template file without having any compatibility issues?

Save it as a normal Illustrator file down to version CS3. Your co-worker then needs to create the template himself.

Help file open and disapper with flash

1. It WON'T show up in your Start menu because it's a "plugin" for another program and not a program itself. You can find it in C/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash and C/Windows/SysWOW64/Macromed/Flash
2. In your Control Panel under System and Security, you'll find the Global Settings Manager - Flash Player (32bit). THAT won;t be there if it isn't installed.
IE 11 has had numerous problems with numerous sites, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. There's something not right in the code. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.

Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

Binary file open .. problem with formatting

dear all,
probably it is too much time I am not using any more Labview, but I have a problem in opening the attached data file.
it is supposed to be a matrix of 1000x316, with integer values up to 16 bit (65k levels).
In matlab i open it with fopen command, and assigning the format as "uint16"..
now I want to create a quick viewer in labview, but I can not go beyond the classic binary string...
may you help me with this stupid problem?

Editing .AI files opening in CS5 instead of CS6

I have both CS5 and CS6 suite installed. When working in InDesign and needing to edit a .ai file they open up in Illustrator CS5 instead of Illustrator CS6. How can I change this default action?

Couple things. If you double click on an AI file, which version of AI opens it? If CS5 is opening it, it may or may not be the file associations.
I believe Windows uses the last version of an application associated to a file extension. If CS5 opens a file that is double-clicked on, exit. Start CS6 and manually open an AI file. Now exit AI CS6 and try double-clicking on an AI file. Does it open in CS6? If so, it is likely the whole Windows thing.
If CS6 initially opens a double-clicked file and ID is not using it for the linked AI files...then I have no idea. At least without playing a bit, which will be a while later.

Cannot open Photoshop CS5 with Yosemite

I was so upset when I couldn't open Photoshop. I then saw that I needed to upgrade to Legacy Java SE 6- I can't find it ANYWHERE. I upgraded to the latest Java from the Apple site, and it STILL won't allow Photoshop to open.
Then IO read that someone said to re-install Photoshop - which I did. It STILL does not open.
I am infuriated that Apple would let this upgrade to Yosemite go through without checking that Photoshop would work with the new OS. I am so angry- I am losing business every day that I can't open photoshop!
If anyone has an answer to this problem, I will be forever in your debt.

No, but it shows you the problem is on your side if it is working fine for others. It is not Apple's fault. Adobe had access to all beta releases of Yosemite to get their compatibility right, which, as far as I can see, they did. Perhaps you have other third part anti-virus or security or cleanup programs installed that are notorious for conflicting with a healthy Mac. You can try posting an etrecheck report for analysis as many others have done and solved their issues.

Why can't I open Photoshop CS5 with OSX Mavericks?

I download OSX9 the other day and I have found that some programs do not open. Today it is Photoshop CS5. Is there a trick to get it open besides an upgrade to CS5, which apparently is not currently available!

Today I just upgrade to Mavericks and have the same problem. Even the same system (mavericks) pop up a window tell me to download the java run time upgrade ...I canceled by mistake ...and when I click the Photoshop icon ...the same window pop up
After I install the java upgrade ...they opened just fine, all the CS5 ...even the CS3 ...just in case, give it one more shot. maybe it will work.
