Cs3, camera raw 4.0, camera profile is locked at acr 3.3

Hello
i am using pscs3, and wanted to use a colorchecker passport to fine tune my color balance. i *thought* that after running the xrite software, that their profile of my D200 would appear in a dropdown list under "camera profile" in the camera calibration tab of ACR 4,0 --- but the camera profile is locked at ACR 3.3, and there is no dropdown. suggestions are very welcome.
thankws

Most of the problems with ACR are one of 2 things.  Either you have more than one copy in the folder, or you have it in the wrong folder.
In PS click on help/about plug-in/camera raw.  See what you have.
Plug in should be in program files/COMMON FILES/adobe/plugins/CS5/file formats

  • New camera profile not "appearing" in ACR, but does in Lightroom

I recently created a camera profile for a Nikon D200, using an X-Rite Colorchecker chart photo and the Chart feature in the DNG Editor.  I exported the camera profile.  When I go to the Calibration tab in ACR 5.5, the new profile does not appear in the drop down list with the other camera profiles.  However, when I go to the Develop module in Lightroom 2.5, the new profile does appear in the drop down list there.
I am running Windows 7.  Snooping around my root drive I find that if I look within the Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles directory (referenced in the Fraser and Schewe CS4 Camera Raw book as the Vista location for the profiles) I can find no camera profiles and when I place the new profile there it still does not appear in ACR.  When I look in ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D200    directory I can see the regular set of camera profiles for the camera, as well as the one I created, but as I previously stated, the newly created profile does not appear in the ACR list.
A side note - I did some experimentation with camera profile names.  I added "XX" to the end of the Nikon Vivid profile name (not the extension), and then that profile no longer appears in the ACR list of profiles.  I removed the extra letters and then the profile reappears in the ACR list of profiles.  Seemed odd behavior to me.  I also noticed that the profile I created with DNG Editor is noticeably smaller than the others provided by Adobe (28K compared to 110k).
Hope someone has a suggestion for me.

Your reminder about both Photoshop (main) and Bridge needing to be shut down for changes to take effect reminded me that I had Bridge set to "auto-start at log-in".  So I checked and it was still running (shown with the other hidden icons).  When I "shut it down" from the UI I had thought it was fully terminated.  So I completely shut Bridge down, restarted, and the new profile now appears.
Thanks for the reminder/pointer in the right direction.

  • Camera Profiles in CS3 Camera Raw 4.6

I've had a major computer failure and had to buy a new one.
I loaded PS CS3 again, did the upgarde which seems to have been  sucessful and now have Camera Raw 4.6, but when I go to look at the  camera profiles it only shows ACR 4.4, ACR 3.6, none of the camera  profiles are visable nor is the option for Adobe standard which I had  before.
I've gone to the Adobe web site to download the latest Camera Raw, which  for CS3 is 4.6, which I already have.
I downloaded the Beta versions of the camera profiles from Adobe labs a  few years back and everything worked fine. My new computer doesn't have  the connections to enable me to run my old hard drive (yet) which has  the camera profiles download on it otherwise I would have loaded them up  again.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Any suggestions gratefully received.
    James

I mistyped. Bridge is telling me that it is failing to convert to DNG because the versions aren't compatible.
How do I tell it to select a certain ACR? Is that a Bridge option?
Right now, I don't get any thumbnail previews on my RAW files. When I try to open them in Photoshop from Bridge, it tells me that it cannot open the file. I downloaded the current DNG converter and now Bridge can't convert because the versions don't match.
I must be missing a simple step if this is working for other people...I've checked Photoshop several times and the Common files folder to make sure the 4.6 version is in there and it is. So it must be the DNG part?

  • Can't Find Camera Profile in Camera RAW Plug-In

I own a GoPro Hero 3 Black camera.  I saw the Russell Brown demonstration of Camera RAW to correct lens distortion (http://tv.adobe.com/watch/take-flight-into-the-adobe-creative-cloud/creating-aerial-panora mas-from-gopro-hero-3-images/).  In this instruction, he takes images into Camera RAW and selects a tab called Profile, and it automatically detected the camera from metadata and made corrections.
I was sold, subscribed to Adobe Cloud, downloaded Photoshop and started following his tutorial.  When I got to the lens correction part, my Camera RAW has no Profiles tab.   Brown does say that you need the latest version, but I have assumed that since I just subscribed and downloaded, that I have that.
    Please advise.

My explanation was why there is no Camera Profile area in the ACR filter; however, that may not be the entire story for why you can’t find the Go Pro profiles:
First, the Lens Correction filter has long had access to the camera profiles.  There are a few that work with JPG images, so you should be able to get them that way without having to use the CR Filter in PS-CC.
And, the Hero 3 profiles are new, and only in the Release Candidate versions of PS/ACR 8.2 RC and LR 5.2 RC available from Adobe Labs:
    http://www.adobe.com/
ACR 8.2 and LR 5.2 should be final release in a week or two, I’d guess, but until then you’d want to download the RCs.  Installing the DNG Converter 8.2 RC as linked, above, will probably give you the camera profiles for and older ACR 8.1, but not for LR 5.0, so if you want things to work completely, install ACR 8.2 RC and LR 5.2 RC, and then report back what isn’t working.

  • Where to store custom camera profiles on a MacBook Pro 17" OS X 10.8.5

I recently created custom camera profiles for a friend's Nikon D700 using the Adobe DNG Profile Editor. She does not know where to install or store the dcp files so they can be used when she converts her RAW files. She is using Photoshop CS6 on a MacBook Pro 17" with OS X 10.8.5. I created the profiles on a PC. Can anyone help?

  • No Camera Profiles as Choice in Calibration Section of Develop

I have Lightroom 2.6 installed on my desktop computer as well as on my laptop.  Both are running Win7 64-bit.  The Adobe Standard and Camera Standard Profiles are not showing up as choices in the camera calibration panel on my desktop computer, but they are showing on my laptop for the same images.  I can see the profiles for my Pentax K20D in C:\Program Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles, but they are not a choice in the calibration dropdown.  I only see ACR 4.4.  On my laptop, all three are available as choices.
The only other difference between the installations is that I had the Lightroom 2.5 and CS4 demos installed on the desktop before I settled on Lightroom.  By the time I purchased Lightroom, 2.6 was out so I installed that over the 2.5 demo and just added my product key.  Lightroom 2.6 was installed on the laptop straight away.
I don't see any configuration option for anything related to camera profiles and putting the profiles in C:\Users\Myuser\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles doesn't do anything.  I also saw somewhere on the net to delete the index.dat file from that directory and restart Lightroom so the profile cache rebuilds, but this had no effect for me.
I'm stumped.  Can anybody shed some light on this for me?  Maybe some obscure registry entry somewhere?

You might try downloading and running the Camera Profiles update program for ACR and see if it does something to make the profiles visible.
This is available if you go to
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates
and then ACR 5.6, then the link near the top that leads to the manual update for Photoshop Elements...which is a ZIP that contains the profiles installer executable along with a 32-bit and 64-bit version of the ACR plugin.

  • CS5 ACR 6.1 Missing Camera Profiles

When I click on the Camera Profile pull-down in ACR 6.1, it doesn't offer Vivid as a choice. I think other choices are missing also.
The only choices it offers are: Adobe Standard, Faithful, Landscape, Neutral, Portrait, and Camera Standard.
At Adobe's direction, I downloaded and ran cameraprofiles_b2_win_102208.exe, but it didn't cause anything to change.
    Any suggestions, please?

You can download and install DNG Converter to get all the 6.1 profiles back on your system:

  • How do I install a camera profile into CS2 raw converter

I recently purchased a ColorChecker Passport and along with the software, created a camera profile for my Olympus E-300. The CCP software crated a camera profile that was duly placed into the c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\adobe\cameraraw\cameraprofile\olumpus e-300 Directory. When I open an olympus ORF raw file from cs2 or bridge, and select the calibrate tab the only thing that is available in the camera calibrate box is ACR 2.4. Clicking the drop down arrow doesn't show anything else.
I have turned off colormanagement in photoshop.
Can anybody tell me how I can get photo shop to recognize the new camera profile?
I have tried restarting photoshop and Bridge after the DCp file was added to teh directory.
    ACR verssion 3.7(?)
    OS is windows home 64
    8 gigs of ram
    Photoshop cs2 version 9.0.1
    adobe bridge cs2 version 1.0.4.6
I have also performed the same tasks on photoshop cs3 on my work computer with the same results.

The earliest version of Camera Raw to use DNG Profiles was version 4.6 in Photoshop CS3...so, you won't be able to use that DNG profile in ACR 3.7.

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6

Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all T1i Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS3

  • I would like to add a new Canon camera profile to the RAW interface

Hi,  I would like to add a new Canon camera profile to the RAW interface.
I have recently installed the new camera profile 'Studio Portrait' which i download from here:
    http://www.canon.co.jp/imaging/picturestyle/file/studio-portrait.html
When I open up a RAW files in Camera RAW, go to 'Camera Calibration', click on the drop down list called
'Camera Profile'  I only see  'Adobe Standard, Faithful etc etc'.
My questions are, can i add the same camera profile i put in my camera, into a folder with in photoshop?
Or is photoshop reading the raw file and only seeing the default camera profiles?
If I could see the new camera profile listed it would help with work flow.
    Best

Please help, ive not had a good time waiting on the phone and trying to explain this to a live chat, hours have been wasted. Once i know the answer I can get back to the commission.

    Are you following this
    Apply a camera profile
To apply a camera profile, select it from the Camera Profile pop-up menu in the Camera Calibration tab of the Camera Raw dialog box. The Adobe Standard profile for a camera is named Adobe Standard. Camera Matching profiles include the prefix Camera in the profile name. The Camera Profile pop-up menu displays only profiles for your camera.
If the only profile in the Camera Profilemenu is Embedded, it means that you have selected a TIFF or JPEG image. Adobe Standard and Camera Matching profiles work only with raw images.
Note:  If you have selected a raw file and Adobe Standardand Camera Matching profiles do not appear in the Camera Profilepop-up menu, download the latest Camera Raw update.

  • Adobe Camera Raw 6.2 and Olympus E-510 camera profile

    Hi all!
When I open a raw file captured from my Olympus E-510 with Adobe Camera Raw 6.2 and go to Camera Calibration tab, ACR doesn't display any profile for my camera, althouth Adobe (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html) says it supports my model. The same happens at the Lens Correction tab, it doesn't display any profile for Olympus. If I open a raw file from other Camera (Nikon for example) everything is ok. Does anyone know how I'm going to fix this???
    Thanks for your time!

You should see an Adobe Standard profile and perhaps an ACR x.x profile for your camera, but Adobe does not make Camera-centric profiles (landscape, portrait, camera neutral, etc) for most cameras unless they are Canon DSLRs, Nikon DSLRs, one Leica and a few Pentax cameras.
On a Vista/Win7 system you can verify what models of cameras are supported by Adobe by looking for profiles in:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
    The lens profiles are in:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles
There are comparable directories on Win XP.

  • PS CS3, Camera Raw 4.6 Update and Nikon D810 NEF File Reading Issue

      Currently Have Photoshop CS3 & Adobe Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9.
According to Adobe, Camera Raw 4.6 supports Nikon D810 NEF files.  I have downloaded Camera Raw 4.6 Update. When
I try to open Nikon D810 NEF files, I get Photoshop CS3  error that says
"cannot complete request your because it is not the right kind of
document. These NEF files wont open in Adobe Bridge at all.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hey,
Before I purchased, let me get your thoughts on another option that just occurred to me which involves:
1)Editing my D810 NEF files in LR 5.6, which I have, then exporting/saving the edited files as JPEGs.
    2) Doing any additional editing, as necessary (i.e. that might require layering or selections..etc) , with the JPEGs  with Bridge or PS CS3.
This method wont involve any additional software purchase now.. right?    Am I missing anything.   here?    Since my final output to my customers are JPEGs any way, wont this work?   Will I be at any disadvantage.   Am I missing anything.   here?

  • Can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2

    Hello,
I can't see a nikon d800 camera profile in adobe camera raw 8.2
When I open a NEF file from D800, I can see in upper left corner "Camera Raw 8.2 - Nikon D800", but when I open  "camera calibration" and click "camera profile", I can only see "Adobe standard, camera landscape, camera neutral, camera vivid" etc., but there is no "Nikon d800 profie
I copied .dpx files with that profile to:   C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles     ,but nothing happened.
Strange thing is that when I open a NEF file from old Nikon D80, in "camera profile" appears: "camera D2X mode1", "camera D2X mode2", "camera D2X mode3". Any ideas?

The profiles that you see listed are the profiles for the camera that took the photo.  You will not see the camera model listed.  Those are the profiles Adobe created for the camera that took the image.  You cannot change profiles to those of a different camera.
Apparently older Nikon cameras had the profiles you see listed for your D80.  I have those same profiles of as part of my D90 choices.  But, again apparently, those profiles are not part of newer cameras.  I wouldn't know, because I'm still using a D90.
