CS3 not working

I have been using my CS3 on my iMAC since 2007 with no problems. For some reason, when I open InDesign or Photoshop or Illustrator, all the options on each menu item is greyed out (except Photoshop>Services, Photoshop>Hide Photoshop, Photoshop>Hide Others). The window that usually says "Register now or later" is empty, and I can't close it, only minimize it. OS 10.6.8.
Do I have to reinstall to make it work?

Version Cue has been the culprit of many a problem with Adobe's software recently. Discover how to disable it, and it may free it up. I don't have any Adobe software, but have found that many people have noticed it to be the main cause of all their issues.

Reinstall CS3 not working

I cleaned the disk as suggested but the CS3 is still ejecting everytime I try to reinstall program. The photoshop part and also Illustrator and the indesign would not open when I tried yesterday so I uninstalled CS 3 and now I'm trying to reinstall but can't. I'm on an IMac OS X 10.6.8. I also tried restarting, turning off computer but nothing helped.

See if downloading and installing helps get around the disc issue. You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Masks in CS3 not working

I did this tutorial here (even though I did not need it) to
see if what I was doing on my own was wrong but I found out that it
is not. Is anyone having problems with CS3 not showing masks when
you publish to SWF? in the timeline the mask works fine but when I
test movie or publish the mask is no where to be found. Everything
is blank all I see is the stage itself.

Well the problem isnt in the movie its when i run the swf.
The mask doesnt show up all i see is the background.
Any ideas?

Deactivate in CS3 not working

I tried to deactivate Dreamweaver CS3 for installing on a new computer. It was not working. It said there was no Internet Connection. This was clearly not true. It said there might be a problem with the firewall or a proxy. I checked both, this was not the case.
Then I tried to access https://activate.adobe.com via nmap, ping and a browser. This worked and the certificate was valid. Hereafter I checked the DNS and I noticed that the url was forwarded to https://activate.wip4.adobe.com . Unfortunately this site had no valid certificate.
The solution
I tried to add this line to my host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\ets\hosts
192.150.16.69 activate.adobe.com
And after this I could deactivate CS3! I hope some of you can use this solution until Adobe sorts it out.

I'm able to make the droplet, but when I try to drag a folder over it Photoshop doesn't recognize it and tries to place the file next to the droplet icon. I'm not getting any error messages. Batch processing is working.
Reading a related windows os post on this problem suggests that it could be due to some remaining files from a removed CS2 version.
Perhaps my question should be how to remove all previous traces of CS2 from mac os x.

New computer - CS3 not working

After swaping to macbook pro I am not longer able to open and edit my web site after importing the software or even reinstalling. I was told upon purchase that I could change computer once without purchasing new soft ware what to do next?

In my opinion, the itunes backup to CD/DVD is very poor. Plus, if you take the trouble to test it and try to restore before you actually need to restore, you might find that the restore does not work.
My advice is to buy an external hard drive and use that for backups.
Assuming you have the default iTunes setup, all you need to do to backup is copy the iTunes folderand all its subfolders to the exHD.
This will copy the itunesLibrary.itl file (database with play lists, ratings, playcounts), the Mobile Applications and Artwork folder, and all your artist/albums.
If you have a special iTunes setup, then you need to figure out yourself what folders you need to back up.

Fireworks Nav menus to Dreamweaver (CS3) not working

Having used Dreamweaver and Fireworks V8 for a while (2
years) i upgraded to CS3 versions, and then went to update a menu

HTML and then went in to DW to import the HTML (like i have done a
thousand times before), the menu looks great when to check and it
in either Firefox, Safari (OSX) and IE6 and 7(WIn) the pop up menus
do not work at all!?!

I have experienced the similar problem when building entire
pages from fireworks CS3 (with dd menu) and exporting into
dreamweaver.
Someone recommended using spry widgets in dreamweaver
instead- might be worth looking into?

Droplets in CS3 not working

Droplets are inactive in CS3. I had CS2 on my MacBook Pro, and thought I got all the files removed, but apparently not. There are a few post on the web regarding leftover files that point Photoshop to CS2, but the solutions are for windows machines.

Any ideas how to get droplets working are appreciated.

Photoshop CS3 not working

Hi, I have CS3, and recently, while working in Photoshop, several functions that would normally be available suddenly didn't work. The most obvious of which was that it did not allow me to set up a new file according to the specifications I would like. My only choices were preset options. Not sure what to do.. Uninstall, reinstall? Is there a setting on my Mac that I need to change? Any help would be appreciated!

"Edit in PS-CS3" not working

Since I installed LR2/2.1, when trying a "Edit in PS-CS3" on a CR2 raw image, PSCS3 opens up, but with the "Open as" window dialog opened up, instead of the image. JPG´s and PSD files behave correctly, though. If I do go ahead and locate the file on the "Open as" dialog, and complete the PS edit, and then "Save", LR doesn´t notice it, and I need to "Import" the new PSD file onto LR. Obviously, LR and PS are not talking to each other.
Tried exporting to 8-bit, and also tried completely uninstalling and re-installing both PSCS3 and LR2.1, with no success. Adobe tech. support couldn´t help either. This is a most annoying bug.
Tried on LR 2 & 2.1. PS is 10.0.1, ACR is 4.5, on a Vista desktop.

Ah, OK so I assume the admin account works, the other doesn't? Have to say I'm not savvy enough to understand what Photoshop/LR need in terms of items in the main account to make this all work. I might have to try that test on this end as I have two accounts too. I use the 2nd for trouble shooting. I suspect the primary account has something, somewhere in the user Library installed by Adobe that is accessed where it might not be in account #2.
If one account works, the other doesn't, we have to pinpoint what files are missing from the account that doesn't work.

"Open With" CS3 not working for JPEG file

Operating system is XP. I am trying to get CS3 to automatically open all JPEG files when I double click on them in windows explorer.
I open windows explorer, right click on the image that I want to open, then click "open with" ....
...at this point CS3 is not one of the choices on the "open with" menu so I already smell a problem ....
..... so I click "choose program" and navigate to the adobe photoshop cs3 folder and point to photoshop.exe, then click the "always use the selected program" box, click open, and bada-boom, bada-bing, the image opens in photoshop CS3, right? WRONG.
The image opens in the Quicktime Picture Viewer program and NOT IN PHOTOSHOP CS3.
I feel that I have entered the Twilight Zone, otherwise known as The Adobe Messed Up Someting In The Registry Upon CS3 Install Zone. Does anyone have any hints on how to get PS CS3 working as the default program for JPEGs when I double click them from explorer on my XP computer?

After a long search I found the answer:
To associate all jpeg files with Photoshop CS3 so that they will open into CS3 when double clicked:
Click Start, Run and type in: Control Folders.
Click the file Types Tab.
Wait for the list of file types to populate.
Single click on the jpeg file type.
Click the Advanced button.
Highlight open and click the edit button.
Browse to the location of photoshop.exe in the CS3 folder.
A few OK's and you are done.
AND ANOTHER THING .........
After the change above was made, jpg files would open directly to photoshop cs3 when doubleclicked, but the maintained the same goofy quicktime pictureviewer icon when viewed in windows explorer. To change the icon for jpeg files displayed in all folders to the photoshop icon, do this:
Start / My Computer
Click Tools at the top of the screen.
Click folder options .... then the file types tab
Click on jpeg in the list and click the advanced button
Click change icon and browse to the photoshop.exe for CS3
A list of ocon choices will appear .... I chose the second row first icon
A couple of OKs and you are done

Raw plugin photoshop CS3 not working

Have a new laptop Samsung QX412, can't get raw to open in photoshop cs3. It works in my desktop. Laptop running windows 7 (64) Home. Photoshop shows "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". Have updated both photoshop CS3 and bridge. Photo's being saved in bridge from camera, Canon 50D. Have tried comments from windows forum. Still no go. As someone else has said, I'm a photographer not an IT expert and starting to get quite frustrated. I would appreciate help. Thankyou.

To use Windows effectively, sometimes you just have to get into the technical aspects of using the computer...
Search your system in the vicinity of the folders used for Photoshop plug-ins (e.g., under C:\Program Files\Common Files) for multiple copies of the file Camera Raw.8bi and note the dates/sizes. Somehow, because of a mistake in trying to install it, I suspect you have multiple copies, and Photoshop is still using one other than the one you installed.
Normally, Photoshop CS3 will look for Camera Raw.8bi in this location:
(on a 32 bit operating system): C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
(on a 64 bit operating system): C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi
The Camera Raw 4.6 plug-in file on my system has these characteristics (note specifically the size).

CS3 Not working At All!

I installed a trail version of Adobe Design Premuim CS3 (which took about 1 hour) on my brand new HP Laptop, however whenever I start any of the CS3 Programs they appear as a task but nothing happens not even a splash screen. The only program that kind of opens is photoshop.
With photoshop the main program is opened without showing a splash screen and just asks to agree to the adobe license but after it becomes non-responsive. I havn't even been able to activate it. I have tried re-installing it about 3 times now without any success
I used the same trail installation on my other laptop without any problems.
HP Laptop Specs:
Model: HP Pavilion dv5 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70 2.00GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
Type: 32 bit
OS: Vista Home Premium SP1

If you hold the Shift+Opt+Cmd keys AS you launch Photoshop, you should get a small dialog window asking if you want to reset the preference folder. If you did not see that dialog, then the PS preferences were not deleted. I'm sure Select/Inverse should be working (you do have the View set so you can see the whole document and the marching ants at the documents edge in Select>Inverse? Right?)

Contribute CS3 not working with Leopard

Hi,
Ever since I loaded Lopard onto my Mac - Contribute won't
connect to any of my websites.
Says it can't connect 'because the server is down or not
accepting connections.'
Is anyone else having this issue - and does anyone know the
cure?

was able to get the site info twice from the users and for one site
it was not connecting from the Tiger itself because of the site
issue and for the next one it was working from the 3 leopard test
machines we tried.
We have tested Contribute CS3 on Leopard and it works fine.
In case if the user is hitting any issue then it is important to
reproduce it then only we nail it down.
I do understand that you may not like to give the information
and for that only the second option is:
1. One test folder inside the site
2. One test role and a test user under the same role
3. Provide the access to the user only to that folder by
administering the site -> Select the role->Edit Role
settings->Folder File Access->Only allow editing within these
folders -> Add the test folder in the list
In this case i will be having the access to only one
particular folder which you can very well delete later on.

Contribute CS3 not working

Hi everyone!
I've been trying to set up Contribute CS3 demo on my computer
(Mac) with no success. I already lost five days of the demo because
of this.
Everytime I try to open ContributeCS3, an error message
saying "Contribute was unable to go to the web adress you
specified. file doesn't exists (Error -1100)"
What web adress? I didn't even start using it!!!
Can you help me?
