CS4 upgrade to CS6: where did Version Cue go?

Ok, please pick up your jaw and clear out the cobwebs. Yes, I'm moving from CS4 to CS6. Searching has drawn no results, and guess-and-click is killing time. How does CS6 version files? Is there a utility to get CS4 Version Cue projects into CS6?
I work in a small team, so basically, how does CS6 help us to work together?

Version Cue is dead. You need to look into commercial third-party management solutions like a Sharepoint server.

Nowhere. They are still happily in your (former) PS CS4 plug-in directory. There is no such thing as automatic migration. You need to obtain the proper CS6 versions from the vndors (possibly at extra cost) and install those.

Where is Version Cue CS5? Does Adobe discount its development?

We have been told Collabnet's Subversion and Zennaware's Cornerstone were both recommended substitutes to VC but have no luck on getting them to work.
We took the last day before Xmas to try for a clean start with CS5 but it has been a very frustrating experience. It does seem that either there is a component missing or not even a commercial "easy and clean" solution like Cornerstone is way to complex for a non-Torvalds user.
We did manage to install both Subversion as well as Cornerstone but there was no way we could get Adobe Drive to connect to the repositories we created in our server.
Neither Collabnet's (programmers' style) documentation, or Cornerstone or even Google shows no mention to "anything Adobe" (Bridge, Drive, VC…) and Adobe continue to keep us in the blank about how to proceed now.
Among some of the things that came up is the question on how will all CS5's applications see the "VC"'s Status (that shows it is checked-out, synchronized…). Will Bridge take full knowledge of any of this non-Adobe version control systems?
Doesn't Adobe have a step-by-step guide to help its users go through this process? There are so many steps involved that it does seem Adobe not only did stop its own versioning app but it also does not want to be integrated in any versioning system intended for use by regular users (designers, your core users). Am I the only VC user in the planet that is not a Linus Torvalds in designers' skin?
We want to be able to migrate to CS5 but, considering all our assets are inside VC 3 we need to be able to continue using some versioning solution.

CS4: upgrade to CS6 or the Cloud?

I currently have CS4, and have bought a new Mac which wants me to downgrade Java to 6. Should I upgrade from CS4 to CS6 instead or, if possible, upgrade to the cloud. I consider myself a novice+ CS user.

There is no upgrade path from CS4 to CS6. You can only upgrade to CS6 from CS5+.
If you wanted CS6, you'd have to pay full price.
The Cloud is a viable option and you can get a discounted rate for the first 12 months. After that, you pay normal price. Just bear in mind that the Cloud is subscription only. When you stop paying your monthly fee, the software stops working.
It's really up to you and how you use the software as to whether the Cloud is worthwhile for you. Perhaps download the trial version and take it for a spin for free for up to 30 days.

Cs4 upgrade to cs6

I was very disappointed to read that CS4 owners can no longer upgrade to CS6. When we register for the product we enter our email addresses, so why weren't we notified in advance?
Please confirm if there are any "loop-holes" to still allow an upgrade, or if you are just turning your backs all together on loyal customers?
I will pay immediately if approved, but if not I would like to make note that this would be very disspointing that you do not value return customers.

This topic has occupied large parts of the Internet in 2011 and then again in 2012 after Adobe already extended the grace period after lots of bad word of mouth from users. It was hard to not stumbel across it on any place that even remotely has to do with Adobe software. You had plenty of advance warning, if you consider this... In any case, this is not something anyone here can fix. As Mr. Murphy said, you will have to contact support directly.

Will a CS4 upgrade work with educational license version of CS3?

I would like to upgrade to CS4 but my version of CS3 is an educational license. I don't want to pay for an upgrade if it will not work with an educational license. Will I run into problems?

I just installed it and ran it fine. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Make sure it is a clean install from a fresh "boot". I ran into problems the first time when I tried to install it right after I installed another program. I simply uninstalled it.....which took a long long time, but after it was removed and I rebooted, everything went fine.

Photoshop CS6 - Where did the checkbox go to toggle a Path's 'handles' on/off ?????

Just starting to work with CS6. I click on a path, which shows the path nodes.... then go to the top menu interactive menu bar at the top of the screen to 'click-ON' the checkbox to display the path's transform corner handles.... and discover it is no longer there??!!
Where the heck did they put it? Please don't tell me Adobe deleted this basic and oft - used function and made it a multi-finger, cluster-hump keyboard ONLY command?
Can I get this feature to display at the top menu header bar again?

Thanks Noel.....Wow.... Adobe's idea of advancements always end up as a set-back in another area. Wouldn't you think that it's a common function to alter a path in relation to it's corresponding image? Why they think going through contorted, multi-finger key combos to enact a simple function is user friendly has always perplexed me. They must have an agreement with Carpal Tunnel Surgeons

I have an educators windows box version of CS6 Master Collection never installed that I bought in Jan. 2013 and I now have a Mac Pro. How do I go about getting a cross-grade option? I don't want to have to buy the program over again do I have any other options?

Upgraded to CS4, missing Version Cue

I've seen others posing similar questions, but none seem to get answered. My office has been working off of CS3 for quite a while and Version Cue has been our primary asset management system. We have one VC server and not had problems with it.
A few days ago, a few of the PCs were upgraded and are using CS4 apps, including my workstation. Version Cue is mysteriously missing from all my apps. Bridge, Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, all of em with the CS4 designation. I've still got the CS3 suite installed and can hit VC with them, but it's frustrating to have to go back to the old apps. What was the point in upgrading?
Anyone one hit this wall and solved it? At this point I'm reticent to try an update on the VC server because not everyone in the office is being updated and I don't want to chance a lock out to those users.

There's a lot going on it that thread. None of it was really helpful. For example, my common files/adobe veriosn cue cs4/client/4.0.0 folder is empty. only the 4.0.1 has files in it.
Version cue just plain isn't in the tools menu of bridge or in the favorites bar.

Not many Version Cue users. You should ask in the Version Cue section of the Creative Suite forum where the Version Cue engineers can answer questions.

just got an offer from a private Person, who owns a boxed Version of Photoshop CS4 (DVD) and an Upgrade from CS4 to CS6....he told me that he can transfer the current license to me... now there's one important question for me...
Is there any possibility to check his Adobe-ID (which he already told me) if it's the same adress, name,etc. as he told me...
or if there is an registered Version of PS CS4 owned by this Adobe-ID?
Just like to check if he's a real person or a fake...don't want to buy any stolen or illegal software...or beeing punked after paying the money...

Old versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6. There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

PDF presets are lost after upgrade to CS6 and uninstallation CS4

Since upgrading to CS6 from CS4 and subsequently uninstalling CS4 (and CS3) - as advised by IT - I have lost the presets I had when I export to pdf from Illustrator & Indesign - the drop down menu options of PRESS QUALITY, HIGH QUALITY and SMALLEST FILE SIZE have gone.
I have a back up of CS4's settings but no idea which one I need and what to do with it in order to reinstate these options.
Any ideas?

You simply would have to copy the presets into the folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Settings
I'd be careful, though. Overwriting default presets with an older version may cause compatibilty issues.
