CS5 shuts down every time I open Pixel Bender Gallery_"Oil Paint" selection only. I've spent most of the day trying to use the Pixel Bender plug-in that's located in CS5 FILTER Menu. I am on an iMac OS X--Snow Leopard. The time I didn't spend on rer-opening CS5 I used trying to find the way to ask a question. Yes, I know that's lame
, but I'm 66 yrs old so don't yell at me!

The crash log is from Photoshop; yes, this problem only happens with
"oil paint Filter"; pixel dimensions are 432-width x 288-height (resolution is 72) The only info I can get about GPU is:

Helo my Illustrator CS4 keeps shutting down everytime I tried to click on the "OPEN" icon on the startup screen which ask what you want to do.
please provide me with a solution, I recently re-installed the entire CS4 suite on my windows 7 for a second time. The first installation most of the applications had just dissappeared.

Pixel Bender Gallery Error in Photoshop CS4 Student Edition

When trying to access pixel bender filters with Photoshop CS4, filters>Pixel Bender>Pixel Bender Gallery, I get an Error dialog images as follows...
I have read the ReadMe file and have the GeForce 8500 GT Video Card on this list.
The Pixel Bender Toolkit is installed at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\Pixel Bender Toolkit c/w pbk filters that run in the toolkit.
In Photoshop there are a number of pbk filters in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Pixel Bender Files.
The Operating system for the computer is Windows XP Professional c/w service pack 2 at least.
My question is... why am I getting this error message and how can It be fixed?

Here are two further images and an NVIDIA System Information report you asked for that I have prepared, I hope this will help.
I am aware that I could download trial versions of Photoshop CS5 and its Pixel plugin version, but first, this first image shows a message that loads from Photoshop CS4 when I start the program and has always done so from day one of owning the machine and the software, could this be of relevence to what could be the root of the issue at hand.
I also use 3D Studio Max with OpenGL and have noted rotating moving objects in 3D space of a file size of 10MB is very slow and chuggie, is this relevent, does this information give any clues.

Pixel Bender Gallery

I just installed Pixel Bender (32 bit) for CS5 using Extension Manager. It seems to have installed properly, but when I attempt to use it, under the Filter heading, I click on Pixel Bender, then go to Pixel Bender Gallery. At this point, the gallery is empty and I get an error message that says the operation copuld not be completed. Any thoughts as to why the gallery is empty? Thanks.

I take it the same was true for the very small image I posted above? It does seem, as smbailey reported, that your graphics card only supports OpenGL 1.5 and shader model 2 while the Pixel Bender plugin requires OpenGL 2.0 and shader model 3.0 (http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/). In theory, the Pixel Bender Plugin should warn you (and not continue to launch) if your graphics card is not supported. I'm not sure why it does not warn you in this case.
I can't say whether it will be worth your while to invest in a new graphics card. There are just too many factors to know whether purchasing a new graphics card will be the right decision for you. For example, I tend to recommend that people by the best graphics card they can afford. I also tend to recommend that people switch to 64-bit hardware/OS if they can afford to do so. Neither option may be right for your needs. Regardless, you should be able to purchase an inexpensive graphics card that meets Photoshop's system requirements should you determine that a new grahics card is a worthwhile investment. Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

If it sounds like a RAM issue it could be one of the RAM chips has failed. You could try removing the RAM one at a time and see if it starts with one still installed.

CS5 shut down when useing pixel bender

I have down loaded Pixel Bender and some time it shut down my CS5!! Also get something about the gpu. The image dimensions exceeds the hardware capabilities of your gpu. SO how can I fix this.....

Yeah, the graphics driver is incompatible. That is nothing anyone can change. PB is legacy tech, anyway. You could try this, if it's realyl close to your heart:

Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Most PB filters are nothing more than half-baked tech demos and I wouldn't consider them usable for production purposes.

Photoshop CS5 shuts down when I try to open a file or save something.

I'm not sure what I have done, but I just used it a few days ago with no problems. I could open files from the file menu and save-as things. Now when I try to open a file from my documents folder it shuts down. What is the problem. I have tried to uninstall photoshop and reinstall with a few things that are now working (something about the color scheme had to be switched to windows 7 basic and I couldn't save-as things), but this one problem is still there. Any help? I am super computer illiterate, so if you talk about third party plug-ins or things like that, I have no clue what that means.

InDesign CS5 shuts down when inserting left master page.

InDesign CS5 is shutting down whenever I attempt to insert a page from a master. I am attempting to insert a verso page before a spread. Normally it would bump the current verso to recto and the recto down to the next spread. (I need to add many blank versos in a document that has facing pages.) I have the latest update (7.0.3), and have read all previous posts on similar issues. Have tried several fixes (including deleting columns on the master pages which I have done, to no avail.) and am about ready to save all of my files back down to CS4 just so I can get the work done. Is there a remedy to this bug yet? I was hoping that 7.0.3 fixed it, (and the random elements that appear from master pages on documents that have been converted from CS4), but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Is anyone else having this trouble? Adobe? are you working on this problem? Thanks for any help.

We're seeing more reports of trouble with leagcy files in CS5 than any previous version. I'm now advocating that files you intend to convert should be exported to .inx or .idml from the original version, then open that instead of the .indd in CS5.
And if this pops up again with a file that you can't get to work with a simple export to .idml for CS5, try opening that in CS4 and re-export to .inx, then move that back to CS5. you never know.

Photoshop CS5 shuts down when I open a photo

I just purchased Photoshop CS5 last month and it won't work! Photoshop will open, but as soon as I open a photo, it shuts down telling me there is an error and it needs to shut down. I can work in Camera Raw, and try to then open in Photoshop, and it shuts down too.
I'm not super computer savvy, but I know enough, so I need help please!!!! I am starting a photography business, and I have 2 families pictures to finish editing.
I take instructions well, if you can tell me some things to try I would be so grateful for any help!

ITunes shuts down when I access TVShows

I have downloaded a season of shows but when i select TV shows where it is stored I get the iTunes error and it shuts down my iTunes. I have changed the settings on my quicktime player, i have disabled proxy. Nothing is helping. I can still access all music and movies (both owned and rented).
Any help is appreciated.

CS5 shuts down immediately after opening

It worked fine yesterday. Today when I start the program, it appears to go all the way through its start-up procedures then immediately shuts down and disappears. I'm unable to access anything in the menus before it shuts down so I can't check or change any settings. I tried opening a photo by selecting it in Bridge and opening it in Camera Raw then clicking Open File and had the same problem: from Camera Raw Photoshop starts up then closes and disappears.

That seems to have fixed the problem - thanks!
I discovered it was impossible to get the reset dialog box to appear until I did the following: hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys. While holding them down, RIGHT click on Photoshop to get a menu then Left click on Open on the menu. Then the reset dialog box appeared and I reset Photoshop. Photoshop got half way through loading then stopped and disappeared. When I clicked on Photoshop like I normally do to open it (and this time WITHOUT holding down the Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys), it booted normally and so far everything appears to be ok. Maybe that will help others who are unable to get the reset dialog box to appear.

After IOS 8.3 update my music app shuts down everytime I try to open it!!!!!I

i Just updated my iphone 6 to the new IOS 8.3 software and now everytime I try to open my music app it shuts down inmediately!!! It never happend before the IOS UPDATE

The reset didn't work for me.
I was able to start Music and then really quickly tap to get out of the playlist I was on, and then I was able to play music normally from a different playlist. I just removed the offending playlist from my phone and now I'm re-syncing to see if the issue persists.

CS5 Shuts down

I have had CS5 installed for a couple of months but about a week ago it started shutting down if the first thing I did was create a new file. No error message just shuts down the application. If I open it and open an existing file, I can THEN go to File-New and will be OK.
Steps causing error, Open PhotoShop CS5, go to File-New, the new file box comes up and I hit OK, then PS CS5 is just gone.

Is it possible Windows Update caused new display drivers to be downloaded? Usually these are not as good as the ones you can get from the web site of the maker of the video card (e.g., nVidia, ATI, Intel).
Something to try to see if it is the OpenGL driver: In Photoshop, choose Edit - Preferences - Performance and try unchecking [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing. If this works around the problem, you'll definitely want to update your video drivers as I mentioned above, then re-enable that setting.

Photoshop CS4 shuts down when I access type tool

Recently, I started having a problem that I wasn't having before. I can import photos from Bridge and edit and run actions, but as soon as I hit the Type tool, photoshop shuts down. When I open it back up, it has reverted back to original format and no settings are saved, actions loaded, etc. This error also occurs when importing previously made .psd files. Help?

The minute I select the Type tool, it shuts down (error reads: Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working).
As far as updates, I am not sure if I am getting them or not. ?
I have not changed any fonts lately.
To give some more history: I am a PC user. I have two solid state hard drives (one for programs and one for data) and also multiple other drives I use. A few months ago, I randomly started having problems in Bridge. It wouldn't load. I think it was an internal permissions error, but we never could figure it out. Trying lots of things (reinstalled it several times), I even upgraded one of my solid state drives to make more space in case that was the problem. Still not working, I downloaded the trial version of CS6 (which I am planning on upgrading to real soon) and as soon as I downloaded that, my CS4 bridge started working. Weird! So both sets worked. Once my CS6 trial expired, I had to go back to using CS4. However, right after that is when this problem started. I have no idea where to even begin to see what is wrong and until I can afford the upgrade, am not sure what to do. I do still have the CS6 software installed (although it is not licensed and won't launch) - should I remove that and see if that is a conflict somehow?
