CS6 After update, "not supported on this type of Mac."

Hi
On a fresh install of 10.6, I installed CS6 master collection.  It was working fine till I ran the update and now it wont open but brings up the message "Not Supported on this type of mac".
I've tried it on 3 different machines, and I can remember having the same issue with CS5.5, but thought the upgrade to CS6 may resolve it.  We need to have 10.6 on our machines as other software requires it.  Is there another solution?
Thanks

How old is your Mac? if it is about 2006 or 2007, then it is considering to be painfully aging in days of Internet age.
That is the reason why I suggested - latest newest computer is highly recommended. Yes, I know it is expensive to invest. But the trade-off is that you get most out of more efficiency and faster workaround with fastest, new computers. I usually buy new laptop and Mac Pro every two years. My new current Mac Pro has 32 gb, a 12-core Intel processors. Loved it. Same with MacBook Pro 17 unibody - in about six months, I'll buy new MacBook Pro.. as far as I understand that Apple no longer offer 17" laptop. But that is ok.
The point is that it is a good idea to keep computer equipments to current as much as possible. It makes a lot sense. Because I use MacPro every day for my job with different hats role dealing with different responsibilities and functions and operating few businesses all together.
Anyway.. just some thought and some two cent tips and advice.
You might wonder why I had mentioned 'have a read' on Tech Specs FIRST before buying any kind apps. I had seen some issues for some customers - little did some of them know that they had 'aged' computer that doesn't meet the latest software's tech requirement. It is unfortunate situation when they realized that after they made a huge investment into software.
Not that I am assuming that you didn't see or read the Tech Spec requirement. Just a suggestion is all I can say. Hopefully this helps to clear up something...
Hope that things works out ok for you to run Dreamweaver app on your laptop. How big is your RAM memory? If it is only two, I suggest double it.
Best!
Brian

  • CS6 Dreamweaver "Not Supported on this type of mac"

    Hello All,
I have a new Macbook Pro w/ retina display. I recently bought Dreamweaver CS6 to complement Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 versions. I am running OS X 10.8.1 and Dreamweaver seems to run fine as does Photoshop and Illustrator. After installing the newest Dreamweaver update, it no longer works and gives the error ...Not Supported on this type of mac. I have seen this thread posted with regard to older OS versions but am unsatisfied with any responses and perplexed as my mac is brand new.

Geo, unfortunately, this is turning into a major problem although no one has figured out a solution.  Keeping pressing Adobe support.  I have a Mac but don't have this problem but you are not alone:

Had a recent crash on my macbook, was previously using OS 10.6 I think. Restored from recent Time Machine backup and updated to OS 10.8.2 and now I cannot open Logic Pro 9. I get a 'No entry' Icon and a not supported on this type of Mac message. I cannot update either as anything up to 9.1.1 tells me I don't need it yet 9.1.2 tells me I need an eligable Logic Pro Version was not found in applications.
All of my files are stored in a separate hard drive with only the actual app having been on my Macbook. Should I just reinstall?

    Hi
To run Mouitain Lion you need to update Logic.
For the updaters to work the Logic application must be:
    a) Within the Applications folder, and not in any sub-folder
    b) Named "Logic Pro" with no extra numbers or spaces

  • Photoshop CS6 is not supported on this type of Mac (2012 MacBook Air)

Photoshop won’t launch on the latest MacBook Air 2012, OS 10.8.2, i7, 8GB. Installed the Adobe CS6 (Design/Web). All products work fine (although had to downgrade to Java6 to start Dreamweaver) but the PS icon is greyed out. When launching Photoshop CS6, I’m getting: You can’t open the application “Adobe Photoshop CS6” because it is not supported on this type of Mac”.

No idea what  happend. I was installing the CS6 suite on a brand new MBAir. All software was fine, eg, DW, InDesign and so on. Only Photoshop failed. One strange thing was that the MBAir has Java 7 but when launching DW it asked me to install "newer" Java version (?). I did the SMC/PRAM reset. Then uninstalling and installing PS solved the issue.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 "not supported with this type of Mac" problem

When I try to open Dreamweaver CS6 on my Macbook Pro, it says "You can't open the application Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 because it is not supported with this type of Mac.  I'm not sure if this is a question for Apple, but why would it not work on my Mac?  My Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Media Encoder all work just fine.  Any help?  Thanks!

Yes you have given all the necessary information.  I suggest try this link first:

  • You cannot open the application iTunes (11.1.4) because it is not supported on this type of Mac

After updating iTunes to 11.1.4 as suggested by automatic updates I get the message:
"You cannot open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
Why did it let me do the update then?
How do I undo the uodate to iTunes?
This is on a Mac Mini running OSX 10.6.8 with 1GB mem

    What processor do you have?
If it's a CoreDuo (as opposed to a Core2Duo), then you ave a 32 bit OS, and no... 11.1.4 won't run on a 32 bit OS.
    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Back up your computer first, in case the wrong things happen.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  I can't provide details on this since I do not have a newer computer. With mine it is very simple but I believe on newer computers iTunes has been integrated into the operating system.  On mine I just go to my applications folder and drag iTunes to the trash.  See below for possible suggestions on how to remove.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20431349
Get iTunes 10.7.  Apple does not keep many old version up on its web site.  I always keep an iTunes installer on my archive drive so I can have access to old versions .  This one is hidden but it is on an official Apple site:
    iTunes 10.7 for OS X  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
You will have to rescue your old iTunes library from your Previous Libraries folder and rename it iTunes Library.itl because a newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file.  See:

  • Dreamweaver CS5 is not Supported on This Type of Mac

I recently got a new iMac and went to reinstal my CS5 Web Premium Student Edition and only installed Dreamweaver. I was able to use it yesterday fine. Today when I booted up. the dreamweaver icon has a anti symbol over it and says "you can't open the application "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5" because it is not supported on this type of mac."
What went wrong and what do I need to do to fix it? Thanks!

I am running OSx 10.9 and I do not see anything about Roseta or Intel when viewing the info about the app. After I used DW yesterday fine, I ran the auto updates from within DW and perhaps when I rebooted this morning is when it broke.  I just now uninstalled CS5 and reinstalled DW (I'm not using the other apps). It has updates to do but scared..
It wants to update the following:
    Adobe Device Central CS
    Adove Dreamweaver
    - Adobe player
    - CS Live Service
    - Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4 updater
    - Adobe Extension Manager CS5 5.0 update
I haven't tried yet to update because either that or some other stange thing happened. I've never seen an app with an anti symbol over it.

  • When I try to open iPhoto it tells me the app. is not supported on this type of Mac when it worked fine before

I tried to open iPhoto just minutes after I was already using it and now it tells me that I "can't open the application "iPhoto.app" because it is not supported on this type of Mac". I worked fine earlier and there have been no recent updates that I know of on my computer. Can anyone help.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Since the 9/20/13 update, I see a circle with a line through it on top of the Safari application. When I try to execute anyway, I get:
"You can't open the application Safari because it is not supported on this type of Mac."
I vaguely remember some capability to rollback any updates. Is this true?
Where should I go from here?

First you need to clear out some space on the startup volume. You should have at least 9 GB available. Then do as follows.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.

  • You can't open the application "Game center" because it is not supported on this type of Mac.

Yesterday when I opened the Chess on my macbook pro, It kept popping up the alert"You can‘t open the applicaion"Game center" because it is not supported on this type of mac." Then I tried to open my game center on my mac, it can be opened but it blocked when I logged in . After I entered my user name and password it direct me to an blank page and then redirected back to the login page again.
I want to know how can I dismiss the alter and make the Game center work. Thanks.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.gamecenter.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Any help on the message on a Macbook pro with 10.9. Getting message you can't open safari because it is not supported on this type of Mac. and did a update.

  • "You can't open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac"

Yesterday, Software Updater has installed something which required me to "close iTunes in order to complete the installation" - I can only assume it was an iTunes (or related) update?
Now when I try to open iTunes, a window appears, stating: "you can't open the application iTunes because it is not supported on this type of Mac".
I have a Macbook (late 08) and am running 10.6.8
I'm conscientious about keeping my software & apps up to date, so it should only be something very recent & I assume fairly minor...
    Any ideas??

To anyone else who may have experienced this problem (I doubt that I'd be the only one):
Over the past couple of days I have left my Macbook sitting idle for extended periods, put it to sleep, & also shut it down.
This morning I tried to reinstall the same download that didn't work a couple of days ago & it has been recognised, installed & seems to run just fine - playing right now I'm happy to say!
I suggest you try doing the same: ie. leave your machine sitting idle till it sleeps & shut it down, before you try the reinstall.
