CS6 crashes after trashing preferences - programs opens but crashes

Hi, there-
I'm on a shoot location and really need my CS6 to work ASAP! Thanks in advance.
I was using tools and found they wouldn't "let go." What I mean is, say, selecting something, then moving the pointer off screen and clicking, which usually undid what I'd selected, no longer worked. That was just one tool, but a few others misbehaved of late as well.
I restarted CS6 and trashed the preferences, as I have done in the past to solve problems like this
Now - PS opens and the pointer is frozen for a moment. When I click to open a photo, the program freezes and crashes.
After opening the program again and making sure to quit after saving the trashed preferences and again getting a crash - here I am.
Help, please! I was wondering if I could do any kind of Time Machine-type process where I could go back to my previous system that worked, bugs and all because I really need to edit photos, but could not find.

Let's try again - never mind "clicking in the grey areas" - forget that.
Here is my problem.
I trashed my preferences, now photoshop crashes when I attempt to open any photo, and computer must be restarted.

All adobe programs open but crash on the splash screen MAC??

just wiped my hard drive clean today and was reinstalling the programs directly from the website since I already have an adobe cc account.
All the ones I installed today: Dreamweaver, Flash, Premier, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign will open but crash immediately on the splash screen.
DId not have any problems before when I was just running CC before I wiped the hard drive clean.
Anybody have any help ?!!?!?!?!!!!!!!!! AM i MISSING PLUGINS? I just downloaded the newest java.
ALSO, I'm currently trying to install maverick, since it defaulted me to mountain lion. Will this fix the problem?

SORRY. I INSTALLED ADOBE CC 2014 TODAY!! I HAD INSTALLED ADOBE CC 2014 BEFORE I WIPED THE HARD DRIVE CLEAN AND IT HAD WORKED JUST FINE. I had ADOBE CC before and IT gave me the upgrade to 2014. NOW NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS AND NON opening/crashing after the hard drive was wiped clean?!!!

My Contacts program opens but doesn't display on the screen (it appears to be off above the top right hand corner).

Launch Contacts, then on the "Window" menu select "Zoom". That should maximise the window and give you access to the bottom-right corner where you can resize it, and the bar at the top which you can drag around.

No video playback after trashing preferences

I'm hoping this is something simple? Last month, I can't remember why, but it seemed like a good idea to trash preferences - no, apparently noone ever made a backup copy. So now I can't see the video when playing back from the timeline. I've been changing audio /video settings with hardly any resulting changes. If I have DV NTSC 48 Khz, with Apple Firewire selected, I don't get audio or video - I just get a still image that refreshes only when i reposition the mouse. If I change it to Digital Cinema Desktop Preview, I get audio, but no changes in video. If I select "none" I do get audio, but no video. Nothing gives me video. I do swap back and forth from outputting to a VHS deck using the infamous DC30+card (and that was the last thing I was doing), but I've since disabled the driver.
Of course, have time constraints - and operate under the assumption that everything should work like it was working last time it was working well, leaving me free to just create and edit away...mybad.

When you trashed prefs, did you use FCP Rescue...

I've not used Attic, but would guess it allows same functionality of Rescue where, once you have good working preferences, you can store a 'backup' of these prefs, then whenever needed, simply 'restore' them.

Using 'Edit in' - Photoshop CC 2014, the program opens, but the file doesn't appear. Help!

I have Adobe CC Photography (great value!). I need to do some Photoshop editing of my pictures - principally Levels 0 and so use the 'Edit in' functionality.
This has worked in the past; but today, Photoshop opens, but the file doesn't appear in the PS window.
I uninstalled (using MacKeeper) a copy of Photoshop Elements 12 on my hard drive recently - could that be the cause? In any case, how do I get back to being able to 'Edit in'?

Program opens but becomes unresponsive before opening a webpage

Firefox became unresponsive earlier in the day. Used alt+ctrl+del to close it. A few hours later tried to open it again. The window opened, but it just stopped working when it tried to load the page. It didn't even try to restore the previous session. I get a blank white window that won't respond at all. I was using an older version, so I tried to get the newest version. It does the same thing. I haven't added anything new in months, possibly a year.

Thanks for your immediate knowledge sharing, ya right JSP can be accessed as it resides in the server also I understand the HTML coding is more than enough for me to understand the values I need to pass to given the input type of fields with the FORM tag.
Having understood thus far, you people mention getting the HTML code but how do I get that programatically, it is that I can load the JSP/page using URL.getConnection and open the page in the browser, one way is doing VIEW SOURCE manually and getting the code, can you educate me on how to do it programatically to view source of the displaying page on a browser?

There will be a event in windows event viewer. What information is in there? Can you post that?
Have you added any fonts? Any 3rd party add-ons?

Bridge is frozen. Program opens, but it will not open up any folders or pics

I'm not sure what has happened all of a sudden, but my Bridge seems to be locked up.
It will open normally, and I will see the normal selections, but when I go to start opening folders, it will give me the stopwatch symbol for about a 1/2 second, and then nothing….it will still navigate thru the drop down menus, and i can even change the view….But as far as opening up any folders or clicking on pics, nothing.
I installed the updates earlier this evening, same results. Should I just re-install?

Sorry to hear it did not solve it.
First think about what caused the 'all of a sudden' problem. Since most of this is solved with reset preferences but not for you it might also be caused by something you have changed in workflow, install app's or plugin or admin privileges for the disk your on.
Maybe you also can give some more details about what system version you are on, what Bridge version you use and what you usual workflow is. (what files are you looking on, what disk are they on -internal, external, network etc).
Also give some details about the free space you have left on your HD with your system on. Less then 10 % is getting you sooner later then later in to trouble with memory and space consuming apps like Bridge.
And use Apple Disk Utility to check and repair your permissions on the start up disk, might also help.
If not you can choose to delete the cache file for Bridge manually.
You will loose all prior build previews and have to start over again for new previews but your files and settings stay the same.
But whatever you do, first rule is to Back Up your files (and as a sane person you already have done so before so that won't be much work...)
Quit Bridge, from user library caches folder find Adobe/BridgeCS5 (or your version). And inhere are two files, a plug in and a cache file (this file can grow to huge proportions btw). Drag both files outside the library, preferable to the trash but if you want so put them elsewhere outside the library). Then from the same library preference folder find the Bridge plist file (com.adobe.bridge4.plist) -Bridge 4 is CS5 version 3 CS4 etc-
and drag this also outside the library.
All those files will be replaced by fresh, empty and default ones after restarting Bridge.
For security also delete the last used workspace for Bridge (user library/Application Support/Adobe/BridgeCS5/Workspaces and from here delete the file named: '!!LastMenu.workspace'
Again restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences.
Now you ended up with a Bridge as per fresh install and you should be OK.

No programs open, but 3GB RAM in use?

I'm running into some problems with the amount of free RAM I have available to me, and it's causing serious performance problems.
I have a new 2011 MBP and I just ran into a situation where I ran out of RAM and the computer became extremely sluggish. I had 1 Safari window open and XCode open, editing a very small project. Between these two programs I was using about 600MB of my total 4GB of RAM. Even though I was only using 600MB of RAM on actual programs, Activity Monitor reported I was out of Memory, and did not say that any programs were using all my memory, only that it was gone.
I decided to quit all open programs, but the problem did not go away. Sitting there with no open programs, my computer was using 3GB of its total 4GB of RAM in either wired or active state, and another 750MB in inactive state. I seem to be entirely unable to reclaim that 750MB even when using the "purge" command in Terminal. Activity monitor claims that kernel_task is using 300MB right now, but doesn't list any other programs using significant amounts of memory, yet I only have 400MB of my 4GB available as "free" memory.
If this were only a reporting error from Activity Monitor, and the RAM really was free and it was just reported incorrectly, then that would be fine. But the computer behaves as if it's constantly out of memory. Also, rebooting isn't a great solution because this happens to me all the time, even after reboots. It only solves the problem for a few minutes.
Any suggestions? Does this happen to anyone else? I didn't notice this behavior on my old 2007 MBP (also with 4GB RAM).

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

Program opens but won't stay visible

I have Premier Elements 8 and Windows 7. Premier Elements is on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. I always click on this and then open a previous project. This week I opened it, I momentarily saw the menu and the entire screen minimized so that the program shows open on the taskbar but I can't get it on the screen to work on it. I deleted a few previous projects today and have now restored the one that was in the recycle bin and I still can't get last week's project to show on the screen.
We video our church services and I send out an edited video each week but this week I can't get the program to stay open on the screen. Can someone please help me?

I can hear on everything else I tried on two different head sets. The only thing I can't hear is the project I'm working on.
This sounds like an Audio Hardware setting in PrE, BUT, nothing should have been changed there, by the mechanical act of removing the headset's connection. If there was a mechanical issue, it would affect all Audio monitoring, and not just with PrE.
As a test, close PrE, then re-launch, and choose New Project. Just choose any of the 2-channel Audio Presets, say NTSC DV Standard. Import a simple WAV file. Your computer should have hundreds of those in the system, etc., as they are the Audio for most of the "noises" that computers make. Do a Search of your C:\ for " .WAV " (without the quotation marks), and just choose one of the longer WAV files. Note: there are 10's of thousands of WAV files on the Internet, if you need to download one to test with.
Now, after that test WAV file has Imported, drag it to the Timeline, and hit play. Do you hear the Audio?

After installing Photoshop, it opens but shuts down when files are opened.

Photoshop installed from CS5. After opening new document or opening an image it closes with a message saying "Adobe CS 5 has stopped working"
It has been uninstalled and re installed several times.

try resetting preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt (win) or shift-cmd-alt (mac) while starting ps. you'll see a confirmation dialog if done correctly.

FF wont open from, after install/update it opens, but when closed it wont reopen.

FireFox was working, shutdown system for the night. Next morning it would not open. The browser frame opens up and the tab at the top has the little 'busy' circle looking like it is trying to do something, but it never opens. The frame will have several images of other widows dragged across it. Pulldown from the tool bar open and act like they are operational. I did an install (Update) and at the end of the installation it asks if you want to open FireFox. That one works. If I close out of the browser it will not reopen.

You need to associate the files with Photoshop.
Right click > Open with > Choose default program
