CSS and Template availability in WebI Report

Hi All,
Does WebI provides facility to import CSS Stylesheet for using those settings in report?
Can we create Templates in WebI?
Our requirement is to decrease the manual task by using single CSS Stylesheet and Templates for creating multiple/many Reports.

yes, it is possible in BOEXI:
You just have to edit the related defaultConfig.xml file on the BO Server:
Windows based BO installation:
<BO folder\Tomcat55\webapps\AnalyticalReporting\webiApplet\AppletConfig\defaultConfig.xml
Unix based BO installation:
/<BO_install_folder>/bobje/bobje/enterprise120/warfiles/WebApps/AnalyticalReporting/webiApplet/AppletConfig
Can we create Templates in WebI?
In XI R2 there is no support for Webi templates as there is with Deski. We worked around this by creating a Webi report with all of the standard components, header, footer, etc. and saved that to a templates folder. The report was marked read-only so no one could change it and any new reports were created by copying the template report.

Hello Muthu,
BW reports will be shown in SRM Box if the corresponding BW roles for SRM are integrated with SRM roles.
You might to activate the corresponding datasource of this in SRM.
And since you have to connect the source system to BW, I think you have to define SRM system as logical system in BW.

I have been able to identify any documentation confirming that web reports from both BW 3.5 and BI 7.0 can be supported within the same portal.
Can someone please point me to documentation supporting this solution? Or, provide me with further understanding of this model. Points will be rewarded...

Yes, I have already reviewed that blog. However, that is only discussing the interoperability of the BW 3.5 and BI 7.0 frontend tools.
I'm interested in supporting/publishing both BW 3.5 and BI 7.0 Web Reports via the portal, not building the web reports.

External CSS and Templates

I am fairly new to using CSS and Dreamweaver having finally taken the plunge and dropped Micromumble mumble... I am wondering about external CSS and templates. When I assign a template to the external CSS does the CSS also translate down to the documents that are attached to the template or do each of them need to be attached to the CSS itself to work as well? Thanks for any help offered.

Just to clarify, if I have a class to define the color of my links in the template that is used in the uneditable regions but I also use the links in the editable regions, do I need to attach the CSS to the child as well?

How to add Tabs and List Boxes in Webi Report in Reporting Area(Not Report Filters & Input Controls)

Hi All,
I have a requirement to use some components called List Box and Tabs in my WebI report for presenting the information by dynamic dimension and measure selection using list box and segregate information by using Tabs as in below image.
Image was prepared in MSPaint not executable webi report.
Is it possible to integrate the list box and tabs into Report Zone in BO Webi? as show in below image?

Hello Muralidhar Reddy,
The exact tool for your requirement is SAP BO Dashboard or SAP BO Design studio. WebI is a tool for ad-hoc reporting tool and we have limited functionalities to make dashboards using webI. You can have all those chart options in WebI and you can use Input controls or drill filters for restricting data. But you cannot have these selection components in reporting area. Tabs as shown in above post, you can have in bottom of the report.

Templates Availability for Standard Reports

There are some seeded templates are available for GL product like 'Trial Balance Detail' report.
Customer wants know if the Oracle is planning to provide the Seeded templates for other Standard reports.
If Yes what are the timelines.

There are lots of reports - I think 200 in CU2. However, standard reports are provided by the application teams (e.g. Financials), so you will need to ask the Financials teams for what templates they will ship.

Filters and Conditons on the web report

Hello SDN,
I am working on the WAD and want to display the filters and conditions, if any, in the web report. I also want to display the selection criteria which we used on the variable screen to run the report. What is the web item used to display all these? What are the settings I need to do?

As I mentioned in my previous post: If you put in any entry in the list of text elements, it overrides the normal setting for displaying either all generic text elements, or all filters or all variables.
As I understand, your requirement is to:
1) Display all the variables and filters on the query
2) display some of the generic text elements
Getting these two together on a single text element item is not possible as far as I know. So either you display all the generic text elements as well or else you use two different text element items.
On the first one put in individual entries for whatever generic text elements you want displayed and uncheck all other options, in the second one simple select the two checkboxes to display filter values and variable values.

Swaping key figures in Web Report(Drag and drop)

Hi,
Assume that I have following three key figures displaing in the following sequence in web report:
Actual, Target, Estimate:
Now I want to put the key figures in the following order:Estimate,Actual,Target
When I do try to do the Drag and Drop in the web report I'm getting the following message and I'm unable to move Estimate to the first column,
Message: Drag and drop action was invalid and was not executed
I can able to drag and drop in the Bex Analyzer but in web reporting its not working

You can achieve this swapping of KFs by swapping them in BEx. In WAD, you just use the BEx query in which you do this swapping.

Multiple Column Header in Report (BEx and Web Reporting)

        I've a requirement where my reports is having multiple column header.
   To be precise the column header is further divided into many sub-columns (upto 4 levels).
Structure cannot help in this case since we have more than 2 such columns and we are using web reporting as well.
Here is how it looks

are a set of key figures, then there is an option.
For example:
You drag Header-B1,Hdr-C1 |Hdr-C2
into column section.Right click on Hdr-C1, Hdr-C2 and select down under. So your Hdr-C1, Hdr-C2 will be under
Header-B1.
Like wise drag Header-B2,Hdr-D1,Hdr-D2
Right click on Hdr-D1,Hdr-D2 and say Down under and these two will fit below Header-B2.
You can repeat the above steps for Header-B3... Header-Bn
The output will be same as the one you have specified above.

Importing a text file with variable values into web reporting

Hello,
I'm looking for a possibility to import values from a text file into a variable selection in Web reporting.
With BEx reporting in Excel this is possible, by clicking on the multiple selection button in the variable popup screen, and subsequently selecting the "Import from Text file" button.
However, this function seems not to be available for web-reporting...
It would be great if someone could help me out with this!

In our example we used a file with numbers for materials. This file is stored somewhere in a directory, to which SAP BI must have authorization to read.
The file looks something like this:

How to pass parameter from xcelsius report to WebI report

Hi,
I have a pie chart in xcelsius. When user clicks on one of the slices of the chart I want to pass the selected slice value to a WebI report.
For this I am doing following steps
1. When user clicks on a chart slice the selected slice value will be written into a cell say B1
2. Create a URL button which will get triggered on change of the value of cell B1.
3. Set the URL value in the cell say C2. Here I am using Opendoc function to open Webi report.
If I enter following value in C2 and run the report it works fine and opens the desired webi report.

Is there any other way to open the WebI report from xcelsius?

the link provided refers to Xcelsius V4.5.
In Xcelsius 2008 you have to control Flash Vars in the Data Manager.
Go to the Data Manager, Add the Flash-Var Connection Type, Select CSV-FlashVar and define a name and a range.
But i am not sure if Xcelsius Engage can handle FlashVars, because i am only working with Enterprise.
Please take a look at your manual.
For sure there are other ways to import data during runtime. Take a Look at the Connections provided by Data Manager. (e.g. QaaWS, SSRS, LiveOffice, Webservices, ...)
Also take a look at the link below. It might be another nice option for "pseudo" data connectivity

Problem in calling BW Web Reporting

I installed EP 60 SP4 sneak preview and I want to call bw web reporting in EP.
So, I defined BW system in System Landscape and create iview using BW Web reporting template.
(BW web reporting URL is "http://laphabw.lapha.net:8100/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=TESTWEB" in WAD)
If I call this url in browser, It works.
When I create iview, I inserted "sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=TESTWEB" for query string but It doesn't work.
I created again iview using Simple URL template and It works.
Why doesn't work for BW Web Reporting template ?

I don't know a way to test the url the portal creates. If you have the plug-in installed, it must be a connection parameters. I can't remember if it was in EP5 or EP6 and I don't have an EP6 systems I can check right at the moment. If I had to guess, you are probably missing the http port of the BW system
From your url, laphabw.lapha.net:8100, the port would be 8100. In the connection properties, I don't believe there is a parameter for the port, you have to specify the port in the system name. Also make sure it is fully qualified, not just laphabw.
If this doesn't help, send the connection string parameters and we'll take a look

we are using oracle 9i reports.
we want to get client's ip address when running web reports.
We are having forms which gets the ip address using
webutil but the same functionality is not available
in web reports.
How can this we get the client's ip address
when using web reports?

From WebUtil documentation:
WebUtil is primarily focused at solving the more common challenges faced by Forms developers whowish to build applications which integrate tightly with the "Client Browser" machine - the machine that the end user is actually sitting at.
Traditionally Forms has provided the means of integration with the machine that the Forms executable is running on, but in the Web-deployed scenario this can be remote from end users and may even be a different operating system from the systems that are being used to host the applicationâs user interface. WebUtil gives Forms developers the means to interact with the client browser machines with PL/SQL, without having to learn any new technology.
As far as I know, Oracle Reports has never provided this functionality. In fact, there hasn't been much stress on interacting with the client machine. And thus there is no direct functionality in 9i as well, to get client machine information.
If you are running your reports from Forms, you can get the client's IP address in the Form and populate it in a temporary table in the DB, from where Reports can then pick it up.

Specifying CSS in template

Hello,
Does anyone know how to specify the location of a CSS in a template? The reason I ask is that whenever I use the default templates they automatically set the location in the web report (eg rwbeige.css), but whenever I use one of my own templates, it sets the css file to be nothing or random characters. As well as a template file I've also created a html template file, but I don't see how the two link together. If anyone could help me here I'd be much obliged.
