CSV file download takes long time
Hi all,
i have an interactive report and there is Download link to file in different formats.
My query is long running query it took almost 3 mins to execute and show in the region .
When i want to download the report in CSV format it also took the same time as the query needs to executed.
My Question ? is why it took the same time download? is it querying DB again to save in CSV?
How the download to CSV can be faster within seconds.
Please help me.
adnan
is it querying DB again to save in CSV?Yes. Depending on the report pagination property, the screen might showing a subset of the data, the CSV export function has to re-execute the query in order to generate the CSV file. Try tuning the query so it runs faster.
If you are using IE, I see that the right-click menu has a Export to Excel option; that seems to export just the data you see on the screen, not sure how IE implements that but just thought I would point it out to see if it helps in your situation.

Log file restore takes long time
Hi,
My log file restore takes very long time to complete, for 128 MB it takes around 3-4 hours, most of the time it is in suspended state and wait type is 'SLEEP_BPOOL_FLUSH'
I checked for virtual logs its around 534 files, also there is not disk IO issues as the other DB using the same drive restore faster than this DB...
Am using lg shipping and the backup/restore schedule is 5 mins.. by surfing i feel this could be a checkpoint issue so i manually tried to issue a checkpoint but can not as the DB is in restoring state most of the time.
Please advise on what could be the possible scenarios?
Best Regards MougHi Pradeep and Praveen,
Thanks for your suggestions, VLF's is 534, though i reduced it, it keeps on growing..
I guess this is because incorrect autogrowth setting , for proper autogrowth setting please read

Report takes long time to refresh
Hi Experts ,
I have an issue ,when I have only used one workshet to upload as the original workbook has about 25 worksheet tabs and is too large to upload. The report takes 20 minutes to refresh I was rebuilding the report when I noticed that when I added the formulas to the bottom to the original report the report started to take longer to run. When the bottom section of the report is not included the report refreshed in about 2 minutes.
In the file that completes faster, there are no formulas after line 353
In the file that takes long time o refresh, the start on line 357.When the bottom section of the report is not included the report refreshed in about 2 minutes.Any sugession.Thanku.
Regards
R@vihi,
If you discover significant high frontend time, check whether the formatting is the reason. If so, either switch it off or reduce the result lines.
As formatting information is not transferred, the time consumed in the frontend can be reduced.
But the workbook you are executing may obviously take much time.

Why it takes long time to download and udates for iphone4
why it takes long time to download and updates for iphone4 ?
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
Why do you need this if you are going to Oracle. Try
removing this. It might be trying things out with the
old driver and then moving to the new driver. This has nothing to do with it. (And it doesn't "try things out")
>
Also check your machines. They might be slow. There is
no reason, it should take more than few hundred
milliseconds to connect to a database on localhost as
your case is.Possible reasons...
- Network traffic
- Faulty router/gateway
- Busy server
- Faulty network card (either end)
- Conflict with another box -
Gif files takes long time to load..!!
Hi,
I found the gif/jpg files takes long time ( more than 5 or 6 seconds depends on size ) to render on JavaHelp viewer EditorPane.. I am using JDK 1.3 / Win 2000 / 256 MB / 1 GHz Pentium. Also found JVM uses 90% of the system resources while loading the pic files. I have noticed it as a JDK 1.3 bug from another thread.
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=42&thread=230409
I would like to know is there any other solution for this, keeping my JDK Version as it is?
Thanks
RejiI would convert your images to JPegs if possible since they are so much smaller in size and therefore load much quicker. I had exactly the same problem but I sorted it out this way. I know it's a pain and it will probably screw up your view, but it will speed up your load time ten-fold and I don't know of any other work around. sorry...

BPM Process chain takes long time to process
We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails </b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!
Attaching a zip file, please refer the 21 to 26 Analysis screen shot.doc from the zip file
Within the zip file, attaching Normal timings of daily process chains.xls the name explains it .
Also within the zip file refer BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
We have analyzed:--
1) The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
2) The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
3) The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
4) The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
5) The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
6) The number of requests in BW for this process chain
7) The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
1) The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
2) In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the Technical Setting tab says the Load balancing option = No. We are planning to make it Yes
But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files
Best Regards,Hi,
Normally index creation or deletion can take long time in case your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check stat after your data loading is completed and index generation is done, Do creation of database statistics.
Then try to recheck ...

The Application Takes long time to Start
Hello All,
We ar eon Unix->64 Bit-> Essbase 11.1.1.3.
Problem Description : The application is taking long to start up. around 5 to 6 minutes. This is very first time it is happening.
There were no specific changes done to the application in the recent releases.
I have tried all options 1. Compacating outline, 2. Purging the application log etc. all other applications respond good on this host except this. Usually any application should not take more than 1 to 2 minutes to start up.
There are no specific errors or XCP files recorded in the logs and folders.
Appreciate your suggestions
MSThanks Jitendra and Prabhas,
I know i have posted this thread sometime back and later I had to jump on a New release, so did not get time to check your inputs.
Well I am back on this issue again. I have been working on various option to get this issues solved " start of App takes long time"
Here are some Details. We are on SunOs 64 Bit, has 12CU with dual core, with Essbase 11.1.1.3 running on it. This is an ASO application and has just 7 dimensions, Out of which the ORGANIZATION Dimension is pretty huge with Multiple Hierarchies enabled ( Both Stored and Dynamic ) and has more than 20,00,000 members including the alternate hierarchies ( Shared members)
I did a smoke test by building dimension by dimension the app was startiung up in just *40* seconds. and when i reached the ORG dimension and added more than 70,000 memebrs . there i fall sick. the app now gets back to its old issue ( Takes more than 10 mainutes to start).
CPU Usage ranges between 3.1 % to 4 %

But My question here is, in the last moth cube i still similar number of members in the cube and nothing really had changed.

Hi
Is there any provision or api in MAC to open a file in shared mode same as windows
hUSBdrive = CreateFile(pDriveName, GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE, FILE_SHARE_READ | FILE_SHARE_WRITE, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING, NULL);
we have the follwing scenario where a file is shared among two processes for read/write.one is running on Linux and the other one is running on MAC.where both the processses are reading/writing into the same memory location in the file say "X"
FAT 32 formatted raw data file which is located on the device, is shared among two processes.
One process is running on Linux device which is connected to MAC book through usb.In this linux process, the file is opened using fopen() and we have used fcntl() with O_DIRECT flag. This process continuously reads/writes data on memory location "X" in the shared file .
The other process is running on Mac which has simple c program that opens the file on the connected device i.e from usb drive and reads/writes data using fread()/fwrite().fopen() is used to open the file and FILE_NOCACHE flag is used to avoid caching.
The value at memory location "X" is updated by mac by using fwrite() and the linux process reads the memory location "X" by using fread(). Linux process is taking around 30 sec to get the updated value.
If the value is updated by Linux process at memory location "X" by using fwrite() the MAC process is also taking long time more than a minute to read the updated value by usng fread().
fwrite()/fread() on mac is taking long time where as the windows application which uses the same apis is taking msec time.
Do we need to use other api s or flags to open file?
thanks in advance.......does any one face this kind of problem?
fwrite() and fread() takes long time?
Is there any problem in read/write to a fat32 file on MAC? -

Hi Legends,
Can anyone please help me to resolve my issue?
This is very urgent and critical.

We have two users.1)edw_user_dump
2)prd_udm.
We need to upload the xx.csv file at the same time for these two users in oracle forms.
we have differentiated .csv file name based on the user names.
the main problem is in the sql loader command the xx.csv file name is created but the data is not captured in the server (kentucky) .

MadhusudhananMadhusudhanan,
A couple of observations. First; always list your exact Forms version (eg; 10.1.2.0.2 not 10g R2). In most cases, the solution is different depending on the Forms version. Second; why must you use Forms to kick off a SQL Loader process? This is a server-side process and should be initiated by a server side process. If you absolutely must use Forms to kick off the process, again we need your Forms version in order to offer any solutions. Based on your code sample, I can asusme you are at least using Forms 9i becuase you are using WebUtil.
Is your Database and Application Server the same physical computer? If they are not, this would explain why your HOST command isn't working because HOST runs against the Application Server not the Database server.
Third; have you considered using and External Table (if your RDBMS version supports them) for each of the files you are attempting to upload? In this instance, it would be helpful to know your RDBMS version as well. External Tables can be a little frustrating to set up the first time, but as with any new construct you use - it gets easier the more you use it.
Fourth; are you getting any errors in your log file(s)? If so, what are the errors? Please list the full error message if you have one.
Finally, with respects to your statement:

In P6 8.4 web client for loading Resource page takes long time
As per tested configuration of P6 EPPM 8.4 we are using IE 9 and JRE 1.7.0.67.
I had checked RAM and its utilization is Max 40%, CPU usage is also very less.
Enough disk space is also avaliable (70% avaliable).
Enteries in resources are also very few just 20 numbers.
Project page is loading normally. But for loading resource page it pause for almost 15-20 seconds.
Last week i had faced issue that application freezes while loading resource page so i had restarted application and it was working.
May i know, what will be reason to take long time to load resorce page and possible solution.I am attching java console tracer log for while loading resource page..
please check.

Takes long time for shutdown after adding to domain
Hi,
Workstation OS - Window 7
Domain Controller OS - Window server 2008 R2 standard
Following thing i have measure with Stopwatch.
1) When the laptop is in workgroup, it takes just 17 second for shutdown.
2) when i added the same laptop in domain ( corp.abc.com ), now it takes 1minutes and 22 second for shutdown. ( it just show shutting down screen )
Why the shutdown time increased so much?
Do you have any idea?
Note:- i have not make any changes in laptop, nor added any software. I have done the above testing because user start complaining that after putting laptop in domain it takes long time for shutdown. It's happening to all laptop where the OS is window 7
There is no logoff scripts / gpo's as well as we don't have roaming profiles.
Please advice.
Thanks & Regards,
Param
www.paramgupta.blogspot.comHi,
To troubleshooting this issue, please install Windows Performance Tools (WPT) Kit. The Windows Performance Tools (WPT) Kit contains performance analysis tools, and is designed for analysis of a wide range of performance problems including application start
times, boot issues, deferred procedure calls and interrupt activity (DPCs and ISRs), system responsiveness issues, application resource usage, and interrupt storms.
To get the installer, you have to install the Windows 7 SDK.
Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3138
For shutdown tracing:
Run command:
xbootmgr -trace shutdown -noPrepReboot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP
Collect logs and post them for further troubleshooting.
