CUAC Advanced - Upgrading TSP 8.6.2 to 10.5.1

Hi,
I'm upgrading a customer's UC suite which includes CUAC.
The customer was previously running CUBAC 8.6.2, but I upgraded the AC server to CUAC Advanced 10.5.1. as the first step in the UC suite upgrades. So currently the TSP installed in CUAC Advanced matches their CUCM version of 8.6.2.
This Wednesday I'm upgrading the customer's CUCM to 10.5.1, my question is regarding the upgrade of the TSP file in CUAC. Do I need to uninstall the existing TSP, reboot, then install the new TSP and reboot. Or can I simply install the new TSP 'over-the-top' of the existing TSP and reboot once?

Just reporting back on my experience with this.
Once the migration of CUCM to 10.5.1 had completed, I opened the console to the CUAC server. There was a prompt on the server notifying me that CUAC had detected a different version of CiscoTSP running on CUCM. The prompt showed me that CUAC was running 8.6.2 and it detected 10.5.1. The prompt asked if I'd like to proceed with an 'automatic update' to 10.5.1.
'This is too easy' I thought... and it was. The installer bombed out with an error (I didn't pay attention to the cause). Anyway, the result was that I uninstalled the previous TSP, rebooted, installed the new TSP and ran through the 'add new hardware' wizard, then rebooted once more and all of the CTI devices registered to 10.5.1.
It looks like Cisco are trying to make things easier, which is a good thing - but in my case the auto update of TSP failed.

Apple appt. tomorrow.. What do I do if they try to void my AppleCare bc of 3rd-party upgrades?

So I'm a bit nervous.. Recently I started experiencing some really weird problems with the display on my Late 2011 MacBook Pro (8,2) .. I have a 3-year AppleCare warranty that I purchased when I got the MacBook Pro, which still provides me coverage for another 6 months or so..
I've got an appt. at the Apple Store tomorrow, since I've already went through the whole troubleshooting process on the phone with one of the Geniuses.. and did pretty much every troubleshooting step I could find on the internet.. It appears that this issue is something that was caused on the manufacturer's end entirely..
As far as the upgrades I did aftermarket:
-upgraded to 16gb RAM
-replaced factory harddrive with SSD
-removed SuperDrive and replaced with OWC Data Doubler + 2nd SSD
I'm fairly tech-savvy and have been building desktops for over 10 years now.. I know all the proper precautions to take when uncovering the insides of a computer and how to properly install/change out components..

I'm a little bit nervous because I know my rights, I know what I'm doing when it comes to computer hardware maintenance/replacement, and I have a 3-year AppleCare plan that is still valid.. but I have a feeling that they're going to try to get slimy with me and say that my upgrades voided the warranty, or that my negligence caused this problem (which would be BS).. There's also tons of documentation online about people who are experiencing the *EXACT* same problem, with images that match what I'm experiencing, for a huge number of 2011 MacBook Pro users..
I really, really don't feel like having to open up my machine again and uninstall all of my upgrades (memory RAM, SSD, and Data Doubler + SSD) to make it "appear" that I didn't do anything and that the computer's insides are still "untouched" by me.. Even to this extent, I feel that it would be hard for them not to realize that the original components were removed and replaced by 3rd party components (and then re-replaced again before my visit)..
I'd really just like to leave everything in there and have them replace the faulty logic board (which seems to be the solution on the internet).. but I'd like to anticipate any potential questions or conflicts or answers that I should have prepared for tomorrow, if they try to weasel their way out of covering this manufacturer defect by saying that my warranty is "voided"..
Has anyone been in this situation where they had a known, manufacturer's defect problem arise, where still covered under AppleCare protection, but had done 3rd party upgrades to things like the RAM/HDD?
The nearest Apple Store is 1hr45min away from me! (*****) so I'd really like to have my game-plan set ahead of time with what kind of reaction I should be getting when I go in there bc of a manufacturer's defect, but then they see that I've done 3rd party upgrades? (which should be okay w/that law in place.. *see OWC link I posted*)
Can anybody help me out with what to expect or how I should approach everything tomorrow?

We are not lawyers. We cannot even tell you what might happen tomorrow. But, if Apple refuses to provide support because you have violated the legal status of the warranty, then you have little recourse but to call an attorney.
You cannot rely on anything you were told by OWC or believe you were told or believe you know. Needless to say no one on these forums can give you reliable information on what Apple will do nor advise you on what to do.

Upgrading to Teams - from Individual Account - Questions & Issues

Okay live chat guys didn't really seem to be able to understand what I was asking so I'll try here.
Upgraded to Teams (now admin) and had my Individual membership cancelled.
Now I keep getting messages saying that my account cannot be verified when I launch software and that it will expire in 5 days.
I look at my dashboard and it shows no cc software has been downloaded though it's all on my computer. Do I need to unistall all my software and then reinstall via my teams app dashboard (which shows no software installed).
Also now when I log in to my cc account all my busniss catalyst websites no longer show on the dashboard. I have a learn more button which links to Dreamweaver and Muse downloads. and a note saying "Full Creative Cloud Membership comes with hosting for up to 5 sites. View and manage these sites from the sidebar on the Creative Cloud home page." So where are my sites? My Adobe Id has not changed.

Upgrades are not transferrable without every earlier version going along.
In short, your chances of successfully buying an upgrade and getting it activated are pretty much zero and even if you do, you'll still be very out of date.
My advice: if you need to upgrade, bite the bullet and pay full price for CS5.5.

1. What should I upgrade first Master or Slave ?
2. While upgrading a node should I switch the version of the server and then move to the other node OR swtich version should be done after upgarding all the nodes ?
3. How does the database replication happens ?

Upgrade the Publisher first then the Subscriber (Master and Slave terms not really relevant as they just refer to which server is active for a process not the database setup)
After Subscriber upgrade is complete switch versions on the Pub then, after all the services on the Pub have started, switch versions on the Sub.

The Upgrade Project is to upgrade the SAP implementation version to the latest version of the SAP R/3 released by the SAP.
Generally the Upgrade Projects are initiated because SAP has suggested to the clients that few of the components delivered by it are no longer supported in the old version. Hence for the Support and Performance reasons it will suggest the clients to upgrade its SAP R/3 version to the latest release.
In upgrade projects we will have to revive all the BDC programs and implement the BAPI's that are given. Because the BDC is a Screen Dependent Object and the SAP might have made changes in Screen Fields, or may have removed the screen totally. So to achieve the functionality with BDC we have to deliver new BDC program or implement BAPI'S instead of BDC.

Upgrade Service Applications a week prior to Content DB attach

Hi,
I ran a database attach upgrade from SP10 to SP13 in a test environment and now want to proceed with the production environment. In order to plan for the least possible downtime, I have the following questions:
Is it possible to upgrade Service Applications a week prior to the content databases?
Namely, I'm wondering about the Secure Store service app.
If the above is not desirable, would upgrading everything now (in 2010 mode) and then on the GoLive date, overwrite all Content DBs with the latest backup work?

I think you can do it, i dont see any issue in advance upgrade.
Personally, I would go with this approach(as i did this). Migrate every thing and test it with live data(so any issue you can fix before live). On day of GoLive, upgrade the current backup.

G7-1150 processor upgrade

I have a g7-1150 and I want to upgrade it from an intel i3 to an intel i7.
is that possible without changing the system board? Or even with changing the system board?
What parts with part numbers would be needed. I know this is an advanced upgrade, but that doesn't bother me I just want to know if it is possible and what the part numbers are?

Hello again TechGirl76.
First, I took a look at the HP Part Surfer page for your notebook. This usually allows you to see what parts are available for the notebook. If you notice there is no separate "processor" section as it appears only one processor was available and it comes with the PC Board.
Second, I noted what chipset the notebook uses, it uses the Intel HM55 chipset. If you view Intel's specifications page here you can see which processors are compatible with that chipset. Now, it is important to note that just because the chipset supports it it doesn't mean it will work in the notebook. This notebook didn't seem to have any upgrade options and was likely specifically designed for the processor it came with. It may not even be able to properly power a processor as much more powerful as an i7.
So, really in your case it is impossible to say that any of these processors would result in a successful upgrade without significantly changing the internal compenants. If you must upgrade the processor try to pick one that is as similar as possible as that would be the most likely to work.

I can't update my 3rd generation ipad to ios 8

I want to update my 3rd generation iPad to iOS 8 through the OTA update. I have enough space as it requires 5.8GB and I have almost 10 GB. I clicked on download and install. It did download the iOS update file and then it says, "Preparing Update." In that part, it is very slow and suddenly it freezes then reboots my device to apple logo. When it goes back, it still says, "Preparing Update" and then it will freeze again and reboot. I don't know what to do. I want to have iOS 8 so bad. I have enough space and I don't run apps on the background. I have this problem over a day now. I even tried deleting the iOS 8 file and re-download it but same thing happens. Any suggestion or advice? Thanks in advance.

Firefox works incredibly slow (as in the window is barely functionable, not anything related to bandwitdh speed) when I'm running certain games on my computer.

During the past month i have had a strange problem with my Firefox browser in certain situations. The issue is only apparent when running certain 3D games (Most frequently when I run Diablo III). Whenever these games are loaded my Firefox browser will work incredibly slow. This is not an issue of a bandwitdh problem or such, the loading speed is fine, but the actual mouse clicks, bookmark clicks, keyboard inputs etc. take several seconds to register.
I have tried running Firefox in failsafe-mode which immediately made the problem go away. However, whenever I run it in regular mode the problem will be back even if I disable every single addon and plugin. I have also tried reinstalling both firefox as well as my addons and flash player, the issue stays.
For what it's worth, any other browser I have installed does not experience the problem at all (despite having the same few addons installed - I only have 3 of them).
Does anyone have a clue what the issue might be? Does the failsafe-mode inactivate anything besides the addons and plugins listed in the addon-section?

How do I get iTunes 7 back?

I upgraded to iTunes 8 and now it's telling me I need to get an advanced upgrade for QuickTime. I can't upgrade my QuickTime because I have an Avid editing system that only uses a specific version of QuickTime. Is there any way to reinstall iTunes 7?

Can't you simply delete the iTunes application, download iTunes 7 and install it?

Concerns:
1. It should have no effect on your iTunes Library if it's in the "Music" folder, but back it up to be on the safe side. Also check your music files to see if there are any changes to them since your upgrade.
2. Purchased Music - I have a MobileMe account and use "Backup" which also takes care of any purchased content. You may want to do additional research on other ways to back these files up.

I am having start up issues with indesign. Wont even open.

How to uninstall FileMaker Pro 10 in Lion?

Basically the uninstall consists in deleting the FileMaker Pro folder from the applications folder and also locating the "FileMaker Pro 10.0 Prefs" file to delete it as well. The path to locate this file according to the instructions is: <home>/Library/Preferences/FileMaker Preferences/ FileMaker Pro 10.0 Prefs
First of all I noticed that there is no longer a library folder for the users in the computer like previous versions of Mac OS X. The only one is under Macintosh HD and when I looked into the preferences folder there is no "FileMaker Pro 10.0 Prefs" file.
I did a spotlight search for this file and it doesn't seem to exist. What should I do? should I just delete the FileMaker Application folder and that's it or is there anything else I need to delete? Has lion integrated it to the app folder somehow?

William, thanks for your help! I found the folder and the file. Well the reason I would like to remove this file is because I want to install FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced upgrade. Now I checked with filemaker and they say that in order to upgrade you don't need to have a previous version of the program installed in order to correctly upgrade but you need to enter the old version serial number in order for the new version to work. If I don't uninstall filemaker Pro 10 before I install the new version i will have two versions of filemaker and two sets of preferences folders and I think that could turn messy.

Gksudo equivilent

We have an oracle DBA that needs a GUI to install any Oracle products. On other Linux flavors, they can run "gksudo" to become the oracle user, and install the software. We need a way to accomplish this on Oracle Linux. It is against our security policy to log in with a generic account (such as "oracle"), so we need this alternative.
When I try just "sudo", I cannot run any GUI commands, because it cannot access the display:
X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.
Could not parse arguments: Cannot open display:
We really need a solution to the missing gksudo.

I think there are assumptions being made that are incorrect. First and foremost, this is an Oracle Linux question, and not a database question. Sorry but if you compare your last response with my previous response than my suggestion and assessment based on your input is not far from your real situation. ;-)
Being a system administrator can be difficult, in particular if you are in the shooting line between a system audit adviser, company policy and Oracle database team. Please don't get me wrong, but I think such issues or often due to advisory or decision making that applies to MS Windows environments or lack of understanding of DBA system requirements under Unix.
I think your last statement of how your DBA previously worked and had access to the Oracle account and filesystem requires some more understanding. Simply put, the "oracle" user account provides OS authentication to the Oracle database by connecting "/ as sysdba". Such logins will always connect to the database SYS schema. In fact, username and password are not used in such cases and one can even login using "joe/doe as sysdba" and it will work the same way. This type of access is required for many database maintenance tasks. If you need more access control, for instance to split DBA and OS installation teams, Oracle provides the OINSTALL and OSOPER groups, which can be assigned to other OS accounts.
Like previously mentioned, I doubt that using sudo or gksudo will be any good to perform DBA maintenance tasks, in particular when it becomes necessary to modify the shell environment. There are many DBA tasks for which there is no sufficient GUI interface. Although many basic functions can be performed using the oracle web console or Enterprise Manager or GUI tools, the Oracle DBA requires Oracle account login and shell access in particular to perform advanced upgrade, restore and recovery tasks.
By all means of auditing and security needs, a system is only as good as long as it is feasible and supporting what it is used for. I suggest to forget about gksudo or sudo to perform Oracle DBA functions. There is no gksudo for Enterprise Linux, and apparently it is not useful or there is no need for it. I suggest to look into VNC or SSH login with X11 forwarding.
The idea to prevent remote access to known user accounts or even to rename the "admin" account is typical for MS Windows. However, there are better options than using "helper" accounts, and I would certainly not recommend to use any of such account to provide password-less Oracle ssh login. It is better to evaluate and control who really needs DBA or system access and rely on strict password policies.

Otherwise convert the string to a char[] and test that you have 8 characters, ch[3] is '-' and the rest are between '0' and '9'.
tokenizing the string on '-' and trying to make integers will allow some invalid phone number to pass. You will have to at least confirm that the numbers aren't negative and have the right number of digits.
