CUCM 8.6.2 - Server unexpectedly rebooted

Hello,
CUCM server rebooted last night at 2:51 am.  I didn't see any core dump generated nor were there anything in the syslog.  Syslog entries from 1:05 am to 9:30 am were not there.  I tried to download "Collect Crash Dump" files for the timerange, those were unavailable.
Not sure what to look at next, if anyone has dealt with a similar issue or have any troubleshooting steps please let me know.
Thanks,
AK

Hi Ayaz,
It could be due to a power outage that might have affected the server or it could be due to cpu / memory usage spike that lead to a restart. Generally a cpu / memory spike would cause a core dump or you would at least get something in the RisDC Perfmon logs for that duration. You can check for any unexpected shutdown scenario using the process listed in the following doc

  • Exchange 2013 Unexpected reboot by MSExchangeHMWorker

I have an Exchange 2013 server installed and noticed that the server unexpectedly rebooted itself. It created a dump file and within the dump file it states that it was caused be the MSExchangeHMWorker.
I know that Exchange 2013 has the Managed Availabilty concept and will attempt to "fix" itself if there is an issue however I would like to know why or what prompted exchange to do this so i don't have this in the future.  Is there any known
logs that records why this happened?  I am not seeing anything in the event logs.
    Thanks

  • Windows Server 2003 R2 32bit keeps unexpectedly rebooting - System Stop Failure

    Good morning all,
I am currently having a very difficult time with my servers running Windows Server 2003 R2 32Bit SP2. I have had this server running over night last night and to come in this morning to find it has rebooted 4 times due to unexpected reboots. I have applied
the latest hotfix to this server but nothing has worked. This is a unknown server as its my companys branded. its got a 13 slot PCI backplane with a processor card running a i7 2600K with 4GB RAM. The processor card is called a ROBO-8780. I have got 5 HDD's
first 2 is RAID 1 which hold the OS and last 3 is RAID 5 which holds the data.
I am getting loads of different problems aswell on different servers where on a freshly build OS of Windows Server 2003 R2 32Bit SP2, its rebooting on the Windows splash screen, can sometimes get into safe mode but very rarely.
If you need any more information, please let me know, any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Could you offer us  the system log record information,Please do the following action then monitor again.
    1. Run Windows Update and make sure you have the latest patches and service packs installed
    2. Check so your server have the latest drivers installed from the manufacturer homepage. If not, please update your drivers, firmware and BIOS
    3. Uninstall any Antivirus.
    Hope this helps.

  • Time Capsule unexpectedly reboots.

Over the past year I have been experiencing random unexpected reboots of my Time Capsule.   There is no rhyme or reason why or when it is occurring.  It can happen every other day or it can happen once a month.  However, lately it is happening more often.  Are other people experiencing the following?
I believe the reboots started occurring after the 7.6.4 firmware update released on 8/13/2013 which is the latest for my 4th Gen Time Capsule.  I set up remote syslog from all my Airport devices using the old version of Airport Utility on my old iMac but never found the "silver bullet" in the logs.  With the upgrade to Yosemite, it seems like the frequency of unexpected reboots has increased and my syslog configuration got blown away on the Mac I was using as the syslog server.
I'm wildly guessing now this is a result of more uses of IPv6 beyond device discovery which is how the current version of the Airport Utility finds Airport devices.  However, it doesn't always work correctly as the screen capture below shows.  And switching to "Local-Link Only" per http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS4597 doesn't solve the issue.
It is also possible that malformed packets are coming in from my ISP and my Time Capsule which is directly connected via Ethernet can't handle it and reboots.  (I have no other router in the mix.)  I have no way of determining that since Apple deprecated logging in Airport Utility version 6.XXX.
I have contacted Apple Support.  They have no idea why the Airport Utility device discovery doesn't work all the time and their only suggestion for my Time Capsule was doing a hard reset which I have done but it failed to solve the problem.  Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.  Or any advise on configuring ASL which is Apple's replacement for syslog.

Thanks .. your picture has displayed.. it has a Yosemite look to it.. and there is mDNS responder issues with it.
See OS X: How to disable Bonjour service advertising without disabling DNS - Apple Support
I can tell you what you are seeing is something I see nearly everyday.. The wretched airport utility v6 is a toybox version utility for toyland.
I am sticking to older OS and can simultaneously run v5 airport utility which.. surprise surprise.. has no issues whatsoever discovering the network.
Your APE-Office appears to be wired.. is that the case??
The only one that doesn't have issues is my office airport express that is so old that it isn't even supported by 7.6 or the current version of airport utility.
If it is wired that will keep it out of the wireless repeater voodoo graveyard.
So what are your concerns about 7.6.4?
My experience is that extend wireless works poorly.. as in he chose... poorly.. see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ubw5N8iVDHI
I have a temporary wireless extend from downstairs to upstairs.. using a Gen4TC downstairs.. and a gen4AE upstairs.
When I change the firmware to 7.6.4 the link is poor and often drops out.. when I take both of them back to 7.6.1 it works properly again.. I can reproduce this over and over.. downgrade works great.. upgrade which accidentally happens now and then.. the whole thing turns to rubbish.
In a v5 utility I can see the wireless links and track them.. It is easy to see the link from each device.. (I repair these things so I have no less than 3 or 4 running at one time).
But 7.6.4 has lots of other issues like port forwarding and wan port controls also giving issues. It is buggy but not many people seem to hit the issue I guess.
the Gen4 TC has a nasty issue where it dies.. the whole series was poor to begin with lasting only about 18months before power supplies gave out.. ran too hot.. apple fixed that in later ones but I would not recommend keeping them beyond 3 years.. as with most domestic level electronics goods now running 24/7, the effective lifetime is 3years.. (and 1 day to get beyond warranty claims) ..

  • Mac OS 8.6 Auto network connect to a server after reboot is not working

We have multiple old blue and white systems on a network. All but one will automatically connect to the network when rebooted. I have gone into Chooser, Appletalk, put in the server IP address, put in the server password, checked the boxes that say remember Server name and password for next startup. I can connect at that time with no problem. When I reboot, the server does not automatically hook up. I have to go back into Chooser, etc. I created an alias on the desktop, but it still prompts me for a password to connect. I have performed a clean install of the Mac OS 8.6. It still does not connect to the server after reboot (after configuring all the settings again after the clean install). Please help..

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you please create the database manually with below command and verify.
    PS C:\> Set-RDConnectionBrokerHighAvailability –DatabaseConnectionString
"DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0;SERVER=<SQL Server
     Name>;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker;
    DATABASE=<DB Name>" -DatabaseFilePath "C:\DbFiles\<DbName>.mdf"
     -ClientAccessName "<DNS RR Name>"
Grant DBO permissions to the service account on the RDS server and try to run your wizard again.
    More information.

  • Unexpected reboot of Norestart servers.

Some servers which are marked as "not to be rebooted" are getting restarted in their maintenance window.
No packages or patches were pushed or installed on these servers.. I saw similar issues on tech net but this ques is unanswered
In the event viewer of one of the server, i saw the following event:
The process winlogon.exe has initiated the restart of computer "servername" on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found Reason Code: 0x80020001 Shutdown Type: restart Comment: Microsoft
Configuration Manager has restarted your computer after installing a Software Package or a Software Update that requires a reboot. For more information, see Help and Support Center at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
how to find what was the cause for this reboot CCMEXEC.log and reboot cordinator.log says nthg.. please help
----Please vote if this is helpful----- -----Knowledge is Power-------- Ajo Abraham [MCP] [MCTS]

You should configure the "Configure Automatic Updates" setting inside a GPO.
    https://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2010/12/06/system-center-configuration-manager-2007-clients-running-windows-7-or-windows-server-2008-reboot-even-though-deployment-management-settings-are-configured-to-suppress-reboots.aspx
While this is certainly recommended, if the WUA initiated the reboot, it wouldn't show as "Microsoft Configuration Manager has restarted your computer" in the event log so probably not the root cause.

  • Windows Server 2012 reboots while removing the Hyper-V vSwitch.

I have a WIn2k12 server with Hyper-V running. While removing the vSwitch configured in Hyper-V, the server got rebooted. In the event logs below mentioned error was notices.
he computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000019 (0x0000000000000024, 0x00000000000000f2, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffffa800b9ba6c0). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072314-20248-01.
The Windows has generated a MEMORY.dump which is ~570MB in size. Is it possible to analyze the MEMORY.dump and find the cause for a server reboot.
Can you please someone help me to narrow down the root cause of this issue and how to avoid this issue in the future.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I analyses the the MEMORY.DMP using the WinDbg. Provided the debug output below. Will this help you to narrow down the root cause and let me know if any similar issue faced by someone else.

  • Motion 5 "Media server unexpectedly quit" error :(

    Hi,
I was using Motion and everything was working great, until yesterday, now almost everytime I try to publish a generator or export for email and other, it aborts it and gives this error message "media server unexpectedly quit". I can export as movie, and sometimes even though this happens while publishing a generator, it still gets it saved and Im able to use it in FCPX. Its impossible though to export for email.
I already trashed preferences with digital Rebellion software, removed with this same software and reinstalled. Same thing all the time.
Someone else having this issue? Anybody knows how to fix this? I would greatly appreciate any help.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Alex

    Hi, Jim,
Yes, many thanks! Thats some progress. It makes me feel theres hope so I wont need to wipe clean my HD and start from scratch.
    I did what you suggested:
    1. When I sent an export to Apple Devices, in which the Share monitor opens, and fails with the message mentioned above, I get this lines in console:
4/24/13 11:28:50.955 PM Motion[307]: objc[307]: Class CMIOGraphService is implemented in both /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreMediaIO.framework/Versions/A/CoreMediaIO and /Applications/Motion.app/Contents/Frameworks/CoreMediaLion/CoreMediaIO.framewor k/Versions/Current/CoreMediaIO. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.

4/24/13 11:38:15.410 PM mdworker[347]: Unable to talk to lsboxd
    2. When I tried to publish a generator, as usual, it aborted and gave the message error, and I got this in console:
4/24/13 11:40:27.560 PM coreservicesd[31]: SendFlattenedData, got error #268435459 (ipc/send) invalid destination port from ::mach_msg(), sending notification kLSNotifyApplicationDeath to notificationID=242
I dont know what all this above means. I will go ahead and remove Motion cache files and se about the fonts.
    Many thanks.

  • Has anyone really solved the "Media server unexpectedly quit" error?

I've seen many posts and suggested solutions, but no definitive solution. This is a severe problem for Final Cut Pro, and it's presently keeping me from doing any kind of work with this software.
Thanks for any help on this!!

    Greg,
This solved the problem for me.
"In Compressor, if the "Video Format" is set to "Automatic", Batch Monitor fails (with the "Media Server unexpectedly quit" error).
changing the Video Format to NTSC and the frame rate to 29.97 (but leaving the Field Dominance on Automatic), the job submits and processes fine."
Make Video Format PAL and the frame rate 25, if working with PAL sources.
    Good luck,
    Luc

  • How to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ?

how to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ? anyone knows?

    Hi,
    Please check the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmsys/cucm-accm-611/a02tftp.html#wp1023004
Understanding How Devices Access the TFTP Server
You can enable the IP phones and gateways to discover the TFTP server IP address in one or more of the following ways, depending on the device type:
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP custom option 150.
Cisco recommends this method. With this method, you configure the TFTP server IP address as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP option 066.
You may configure either the host name or IP address of the TFTP server as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can query CiscoCM1.
Ensure the Domain Name System (DNS) can resolve this name to the IP address of the TFTP server. Cisco does not recommend this option because it does not scale.
•You can configure phones with the IP address of the TFTP server. If DHCP is enabled on the phone, you can still configure an alternate TFTP server IP address locally on the phone that will override the TFTP address that was obtained through DHCP.
•Gateways and phones also accept the DHCP Optional Server Name (sname) parameter.
•The phone or gateway can use the value of Next-Server in the boot processes (siaddr).
Devices save the TFTP server address in nonvolatile memory. If one of the preceding methods was available at least once, but is not currently available, the device uses the address that is saved in memory.
You can configure the TFTP service on the first node or a subsequent node, but usually you should configure it on the first node. For small systems, the TFTP server can coexist with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager on the same server.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite I am getting frequently "safari can't open the page (blank) because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection this sometimes occurs when the server is busy. wait and then try again"

Since upgrading to Yosemite on my iMac I am frequently getting "safari can't open the page (blank) because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection this sometimes occurs when the server is busy. wait and then try again". This is with both a WiFi and Ethernet connection. The server is working fine from other devices using WiFi onto it such as iPhones, iPads, MacBook (which is also on Yosemite) so don't believe its an issue with the server.
I am also noticing page load very slowly when this problem is not occurring.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
