CUP - No control of existing user for a new account request

Hello everybody,
I have an issue with CUP tool.
When you want to create a new user with a new account request and the user ID that you specified is already used in the backend system (user already exists), there is no control in CUP and the provisioning is done. Only a short and wrong error message appears after provisioning in Audit information part of the global review screen. This message is: Provisioning failed, user already exists, but, however, CUP assign the new roles to the user.
Do you know a way to solve this problem?
For information, only the reciprocal issue is managed by CUP: if you try to change a user that doesn't exist in the backend system, CUP propose you the parameter Create user if it doesn't exist in the auto-provisioning section of configuration tab.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Wassim BEN MANSOUR

Hello Ben,
This is one of the requests which should and i guess would definately be taken up by SAP for it's next versions as an enhancements. Since the tool does not have the correct procedure, as it should be, in place; what I can suggest you as a workaround is to have a manual step in between, when the request for a user creation comes.
This step would involve the task which is to be carried out by the Security guy to manually look if the user ID requested already exists, for every request for User ID creation. This looks a tedious task but considering this can lead to more trouble than actually performing it, untill it is rectified; we need to be careful with this.

Hersh.

How do I best integrate existing laptops for a new server?  Can I use the existing home folders on the laptops and make them into Network Users?

Yes it will work.  I've done it for a few users in my small office.  As with anything, there are quirks that you may or may not experience.  Most quirks are app-related, due to app developers hard-coding absolute paths into their apps for things like temp files (Photoshop).  Strategies for resolving these sorts of quirks can be found via google.  You would probably have seen these quirks already when using server-based home folders for your kids.  If you haven't noticed them, then you're probably fine.
The tech note you cited should be fine.  It doesn't explicitly say so, but you'll need to enable ssh on your server, at least temporarily, so you can upload your home folder to the server using scp, rsync, etc.  Don't try to copy the files up to the server via Finder.
Once all your files are transferred to the server and in the right place, make sure to chown them on the server, so they are owned by the userID you created for yourself on the server.
As with anything this involved, make a good backup of your laptop first.
Note I have one user that isn't too happy with the responsiveness of the periodic mobile home syncing.  She has about a decade of e-mail in her home folder, probably 50 to 100 emails per day, many with attachments.  Mobile home syncing takes a long time to check and sync this huge tree of itty-bitty files, eevn with server-side file tracking turned on.  The other users are happy.
The nice thing about mobile home syncing is that when a user "graduates" to an age where they've earned their own laptop, you can change them from a server home user to a mobile home user, with a minimum of fuss.  Also, if you lose or break a laptop, you can add a new replacement laptop to your network, and pull-down a replica of the home folder from the server, with almost no downtime.

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

  • File sharing not working for any new accounts

I am using the latest version of Mavericks. For every new account I set up (Sharing, Administrative, Standard) trying to set up file sharing on a directory fails. When I set up the account, select a directory (on the boot drive or on an external drive) to share and do a get Info it always shows "Fetching..." on the new account. If I try to set that directory to share from an account in SysPref>Sharing when I click on the directory and try to set the account to share, even though the account shows up in the list of accounts to use, when I select any new account it does NOT show up as selected for sharing. It is as though the new account isn't quite being correctly set by the system. If I launch and look at any new account in WorkGroup manager they appear to be normal but cannot be used in File Sharing. I am really scratching my head on this, since I do everything I should to share a directory and all new accounts are just not working.
Any ideas or suggestions???????????????  HELP HELP!

    hi there,
that error message sounds like you placed a shared folder within a parent folder that is not shared. It also can help to boot into Recovery Mode (pressing Command and R simultanously when hearing the startup tune), launch Disk Utility, select the disk containing your OSX installation (usually named Macintosh HD) and choose Verify Disk Permissions. Should any problems be reported select Repair Disk Permissions. Once that is finished, reboot normally.
Though unlikely, it might have happened during all the folder removing and readding that some Permissions are out of sync. So checking these Permissions is merely a precaution
Once you are back in "normal" OSX using your admin account, try this:
Open Terminal from the Utilites folder
enter the following commands one line at a time:
    mkdir /Users/Shared/Family
    mkdir /Users/Shared/Family/Movies
    mkdir /Users/Shared/Family/Mom
    chown -R <placeholder> /Users/Shared/Family
    chmod -R 755 /Users/Shared/Family
Be sure to replace <placeholder> with your account's short name (no brackets!)
Now open System Preferences and select Sharing
Select File Sharing from the left pane
Click on the little plus and add /Users/Shared/Family to your shares (The subfolders are automatically included)
in the right most pane check the access privileges. They are set, so that you can read and write to those folders, while everyone else can only read. If you want everybody to have read and write privileges, use 777 instead of 755 within the terminal last command.
Now the other computers should be able to see and use the shared folder you just created.
If you create individual user accounts on your machine for every family member you want to access the shared folders, you can choose far more sophisticated levels of access privileges.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

  • Can't sign up for a new account

I'm not sure why, but I can't make a new Skype account. I fill in all the details properly (triple-checked everything). No errors. But when I click the "I accept" button at the bottom, nothing happens. I refreshed and tried multiple times. Same thing. Also noticed that clicking other links on the same page (even the Skype logo home button) don't do anything either.
    What's the deal?

  • I cannot turn on my notes in icloud without signing up for a new account.  I already have a functioning account, but just want to turn on another function.  What do I do?

I already have a functioning icloud account that syncs my information from my iphone to my PC.  I don't want to start a new account, but it seems that Apple is forcing me to open a new account to merely turn on a new function, which is my notes.  Any way to turn this on without having to sign up for a new account?  I have too many accounts already to keep up with. I don't need Apple forcing me into another one.  Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. My apple account uses my yahoo address, which works fine. But when I try to turn on notes in my iPad's iCloud settings, iPad tells me I need a me.com email address, giving me only two c hoices: create or cancel .... Then when I try to create a me.com email address, iPad tells me it has already been created ... What to do?

  • OBA1 exchange rate maintenance for the new accounts

    Dear All,
The following three bank G/L accounts 1833280, 1833285 and 1833288 have been created in India Charts of accounts IN01 and extended to company AE10.
The G/L accounts can now be used in AE10.
Now tell me how can I make OBA1 exchange rate maintenance for the new accounts.
Please share your valuable opinions with me.
    Thanks a lot in advance!!

    Hi,
The relevant transaction in OBA1 for the bank accounts is KDF.
Double click on KDF, a new screen will open up, where you do the following:
You enter the bank GL account here.  If the account is to be differently handled at the level of the currency and currency type then you can further limit the exchange rate difference based on these 2 parameters.
Once you have entered the bank GL, save and then double click the bank GL account.  A new screen will open up where you define accounts for the following:
The accounts below will carry the forex gain loss that you when you clear foreign currency transactions.
    1.  Exchange Rate difference realised:
    Loss                 XXXXXX
    Gain                 YYYYY
The accounts below will carry the difference while valuating you open items for
    2.  Valuation:
    Val.loss 1           XXXXXX
    Val.gain 1           YYYYY
    Bal.sheet adj.1      ZZZZZZ
The accounts below will carry transaltion losses.

  • How to delete existing user and create the account

    Hi All,
How to delete the existing user and does not loose the shopping cart link, confirmations for etc and then create back the account for the user?
    Please tell me the steps.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Henry

How to delete the existing user and does not loose the shopping cart link, confirmations for etc and then create back the account for the user?
I believe you can not delete the user 100% fully since all documents must be closed before.since it had a relation in crmd_partner table. However it has links with business objects..
Copied from forum threads.. for your reference..
Note 1148837 - SRM user cannot be deleted
    in consulting note 550071
Q8. What happens if I delete the user who has created the shopping cart
A8. If the user is deleted, and the shoping cart exists in the application, then the shooping cart cannot be displayed. If you want to view/ process those shopping carts, then you have to create a dummy user and retrieve the document. In CRMD_PARTNER table, the old user GUID should be replaced with the new user GUID.
User deleted from SRM, deletion of SC not possible
if you have a central recipient cancel them with that role or as advised by akash cancel from r/3.
    discussions are welcome..

  • Can I safely delete my Apple ID and sign up for a new account?

Can an official Apple administrator please shed some light on this for me?
I had previously asked if I could change my alias (which I did not choose, it was set by default for me) on my Apple ID account, but found out this was impossible. it's kind of driving me crazy, and I also hate the privacy concerns. on top of which, my subscription settings don't seem to work. I've set my preferences to subscribe me to topics i reply to or create and to email me immediately. I've tried to save my settings three times, but it never takes and i dont' get any emails.
So, my question is: Can I delete this account and set a new one up (which will hopefully fix things), without it messing anything else this account might be tied to in the Apple/.Mac world? (eg. my product registrations, e-newsletter subscriptions, etc.)?
Or should i just leave things be?
Thanks in advance!! (sorry for the long-winded question)
    Powermac G5 dual 2.0 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Lillian!
I'm not official, but I'll try to "shed some light".
Although you can't change the Alias of the account you are using, you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
But your Posts(8), Points(0), Registered Date(9/28/05), and Level(0) will not be transferred.
In the new account, your Post Count, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old alias.
After you quit using the old account, those posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 1 to 3 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
The Topics that you started, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Search:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories?
    Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias/Name
all of your posts, since about 11/13/05, would be found.
    To create a new account,
Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.
-How Do I Create My Account?
If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
-To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page. In the resulting page, click the "create one" link at the bottom of the page, then click "create one" in the subsequent page and follow the instructions to create an Apple ID. For more information, see the Apple ID FAQ page.
Those instructions, and more info, can also be viewed by clicking on ? Help & Terms of Use, in the right column of Discussions pages.
    Good Luck!

  • Can I set Mail.app to default "Permanently erase deleted messages when" to Never, for all new accounts?

When setting up new accounts in Mail.app, I generally remember to set the "Permanently erase deleted messages when:" setting to "Never", in contrast to its harsh default 1-month setting.
When I first switched to a Mac years ago (probably around the time of Leopard, or one before), I didn't know of this setting, as it's somewhat buried and not part of the add new account "walkthrough", and I permanently lost serious business mail on a self-hosted mail server, due to this, in my opinion, really stupid default setting.
At any rate, as I said, I usually remember to change this, but I recently synched accounts via iCloud to a new machine (a work machine), and for whatever reason, the setting didn't take on one account (just one account; despite being set to "never" on the primary mac from which things sync).  Same problem all over again.
So, Is there a way I can simply change the default, in the system, so that whenever a new account is created, Mail.app sets the default "erase messages when" time to "Never"?
I need to duplicate Gmail (archiving) functionality and thus far this is the best way I have of going about it; leaving those messages in trash on my regular old everyday IMAP servers.
I did run into this solution – http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22283, though it was for Mail.app in OSX 10.2 (so things have changed now), but I'm willing to bet there is a similar command, more up to date, that might do something similar?  I'd like to run such a command on all of my machines so that ALL new mail accounts created are set to NEVER permanently auto-empty the trash–that should be done when I chose, and when I chose only.

Open Mail preferences, click on the Accounts icon in the toolbar then select your mail account, click on the Mailbox Behaviours tab on the right. Set the dropdown menu at the bottom for the Never option.
However, you cannot change the default options set for a newly created account.

  • Email folders do not appear for each new account - only generic message folder available

I would like to know if there is any way to get the new accounts I created to appear in a unique folder to each account.
With my first work Blackberry Curve (new) I was able to set up my personal account via BIS website and it automatically created a unique folder for that account. I was on the Rogers network in Canada.
At my new job I was give a BB used by a previous employee. I have set up two other accounts using the BIS website rather than the BB and this time no new folders were created. My email all comes to the main Messages folder. I am using a Verizon BB this time.
Of note, I tried to add another account via the BB Setup Wizard and when I choose to set up a new account I get the message: "Browser is disabled by IT Policy" - I assume that is my company policy and not BB or Verizon. However, I was able to set up other accounts via the BIS site...
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Since JSanders is offline, I'll jump in.
From all of this information, I deduce that your BB did not get cleansed of it's IT Policy when it was given to you. And the IT Policy is doing things that are preventing you from doing as you desire (including possibly hiding the email icons). If, as you say, you are not going to be on their BES, then I suggest you go back to those admins and have them cleanse the BB properly to remove the IT Policy. Then, you will want to wipe it totally clean and start completely over.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Can I access saved work on my computer from another Illustrator account if I sign up for a new account?

My son saved work on my computer, but used his own email address.  He can't remember his email address password and is out of the country and doesn't have internet access.  If I sign up for my own account on Illustrator, will I be able to pull up the work that he saved on my computer?

Yes you will be able to open all the Files saved by him. But you can't access his Creative Cloud assets which are associated with his ID such as: Type kit Fonts, Swatches, Design Library Assets etc.

  • Commadmin user modify won't configure an existing user for e-mail

    Good day,
On a new installation, I am receiving the following error message:
    com.iplanet.am.sdk.AMException: Service not assigned.
when I try and use commadmin user modify to give e-mail service to a user. When I directly edit the JES DS directory entries directly, e-mail service is provisioned. This looks like a basic omission on my part (I'm quite new to JES); can anyone point me to a solution basing on this information or is more needed?
    Cheers,

    Hello Jay,
    Thanks for following me up.
I also tried using commadmin user create - see my first reply to your post. In that case, the reply was still "FAIL<cr> Service UserMailService not registered". As regards the attributes, I agree with your point but I had taken the precaution of extending the entries manually with extra attributes. I'm not at my workplace right now so I can't report back but there were a few inet-something attributes among them. Incidentally, after I added the attributes, the icon in DS Console changed from the generic round one to the user type.
Now some updates from my side because I couldn't log in to the forum earlier to post:
The thread I referred to in earlier posts didn't help. "User Mail Service" showed up under AM console as a service allocated to my organization mydomain.com but the commadmin user create still came back with the usual "FAIL<cr> Service UserMailService not registered". This notwithstanding that the organization container mydomain.com had the sunregisteredservice=UserMailService attribute-value pair set, coming from the earlier command commadmin domain modify -D daadmin -w dapassword -n mydomain.com -d mydomain.com -H mymailhost.mydomain.com.
So as a wild guess, I added the attribute sunregisteredservice to the ou=people container below the o=mydomain.com organization and gave this attribute the value UserMailService. Then, finally, the commadmin user create command gave me the OK.
So the next question is: why did I have to add the attribute to the ou=people container? On a separate test system that I set up for planning (this is one case where the simulation fell really short of reality!), I didn't need to add the attribute to the people container - just to the parent organization.
    Cheers
