Custom greeting vs default

Can you go between the custom and default greetings without losing what you have recorded on your custom greeting? I use my iPhone for business and personal. I use the custom greeting  for my business-it's a long message and I barely got it all on there-don't want to lose it. But on the weekend, I want to put a generic greeting on. Hope that makes sense.

It sure does answer your question, quoted from my post:
"Voicemail is a carrier feature.."
Notice the part about carrier feature? Has nothing to do with your phone.
And:
"your carrier would have to provide this ability"
Notice the part about your carrier providing this feature?

  • Even though the custom greeting is checked , when the phone is called it uses default. Is there a fix?

When my iphone is called and I don't answer the default greeting is used even though I've recorded and checked custom greeting. Any ideas?

It is not that you cannot, there could be an issue with the carrier and a problem with your voicemail settings. If the carrier supports it, it should work, just have them check it.

  • How do I remove the Verizon instructions from end of my customized greeting?

Hello everyone.  I've called Verizon repeatedly about this one and they say they can't help.  I want to remove the Verizon system message from the end of my customized greeting and reduce the number of rings (currently 5) before my callers can leave a message.  The whole thing is annoying and unprofessional and my colleagues hate it too.  You know what I mean. It's the "At the tone, please record your message.  When you have finished recording you may hang up or press 1 for more options" that's driving you crazy too.  The only carrier so far to not force some version of this feature on consumers is AT&T.  I'm switching if I can't get rid of the rings and robot voice!!

I understand the importance of ensuring you have the services you need UpnGo. At this time we do not have the ability to remove the automated voice greeting from voicemail. Please know that we certainly do not want to lose you. If you record your own personal greeting do you still get the automated message?

  • How to make a custom template the default for Apple Mail (10.7.5)?

    Hi,
I'm OK with making a new custom template in Apple Mail.  It shows up fine once under "custom" in the stationary pane (and once I take off signature in a new email).  But... that's a lot of trouble to go through everytime I want to send an email.
So the question is: can I make my custom template my default for all my emails, unless I want to manually change it?  Seems like this should be possible but I can't figure it out and haven't run into any solutions (only on how to make a template).
Do I really have to select it each time?
    Best,
    Joel

As an FYI: I just solved the problem by going the "low road." I'll be a bit laborious in case someone else wants a solution at a later date (I know I Googled the topic and found nothing). I experimented by simply:
    Opening a new email message
    Selecting my custom template
Copying the custom signature (Select All)
    Opening another new email message
Selecting Edit on the Signature pulldown menu
Hitting the plus symbol to create/add a new signature in the pane
    Pasting into the new signature
    Naming it
Selecting "Choose signature" at the bottom of the signatures pane
    And violà!!
It now appears as a possible selection *and* as the default.
Better yet - it is now my default and will work as a reply to an email.
I think I got it all right in the list above.
OK, granted, this is a pretty simply signature - a list of my website, SoundCloud, twitter etc with those names in bold and a graphic of my color logo - but... it works! YMMV.
Give it to Apple to make it so simple that any fool could do it (that would be me), you wouldn't need a "specialized" app, and - of course - there wouldn't even be instructions on how to do it!
    Best,
    Joel

  • Setting Custom printer to default

Printing is not work for me with Read 8.1 on Linux (Ubuntu). It only works if I set printer to Custom and give it an explicit command, e.g. "Lpr -Plp4".
However whenever I restart reader it does not keep custom as the default but goes back to the value set in "LPDEST" environment variable, anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Neha,
Clicking on the properties button does not seem to have any effect, i.e. no text is displayed.
In the Printer dialog box I have on the left:
Name lp4 (from pull down menu)
    status lp4 is ready
    Type Unknown
    when I run "strace -s 256 -f -ff -o log1 acroread"
and using the "default printer" in the pull down menu I get this line amongst others in the main log
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
and this line in the subprocess log
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-P", "lp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/AcroPTv0YZ"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    but no print output.
Doing the same but choosing to use the "custom printer /usr/bin/lpr -Plp4" gave this line in the main log
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
and this line in the suprocess log
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-Plp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/Acro2p8I98"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    and it prints output
If do the same again but use the "custom printer /usr/bin/lpr -P lp4" I get
    readv(3, [{"*acroread*lprCommand:\t/usr/bin/lpr -Plp4\n", 41}, {"\0\0\0", 3}], 2) = 44
    execve("/usr/bin/lpr", ["lpr", "-P", "lp4", "/tmp/acroread_1128_1128/AcroPTv0YZ"], [/* 81 vars */]) = 0
    and again it prints output
    thanks,
    Dave.

  • Custom Greeting Issue

I have uploaded a custom greeting and all is well there, my problem is that at the end after a caller hears my greeting, they get that AT&T... leave a message after the tone...automatic greeting behind it, letting everyone know it is a cell phone. I'm using this for a business line and dont want everyone knowing it is a cell phone. I have talked to many reps at ATT&T they say it cannot be taken off, however I have a friend who has an iphone and she did a custom greeting and hers does not have the AT&T msg at the end of her greeting, its her gretting and then a beep (I bought it thinking mine would be the same way). Can anyone tell me if there is a problem with my phone or why can she do it and mine cannot? Thanks.

This is most definitely a problem with your AT&T voicemail. Your friend's account is behaving properly. When you record a custom voicemail greeting, the standard greeting should not be heard.
I recommend you call AT&T back and insist on being escalated to technical support, who should be able to fix this issue for you.

  • Managed Default versus Managed Custom Folder, and Default Folder Type Options

I am looking to create some new managed folders needed for company retention policy.
It seems pretty forward to create the folder:
New-ManagedFolder -Name "[Name Here]" -DefaultFolderType Inbox -Comment "[comments here]" -MustDisplayComment $true
However I have noticed there seems to be two types of folders: Managed Custom and Managed Default. What exactly is the difference.
Also what different default folder type options are there, and what is the different between them?

I actually am using retention tags and retention policies for the existing folders (inbox, deleted, junk/spam, conversation history). Which takes care of most of our actual messages.
However most of the space in a users mail box is take by docs scanned to their emails. These docs are almost instantly moved to file servers, and other databases but sit in the mailboxes for ever. So I was hoping to create a default folder and deploy rules
so that all the scanned items are automatically moved to that folder where they can be deleted per a retention policy tag.
I'm not married to this method but it did seem reasonable in terms of not leaving things to the users to sort items, and would love a better way to accomplish it.
The retention policy says we will keep communications for a maximum x years for users excluding certain document types (junk/spam, voice mails, Instant messages, Scanned docs) and any thing older will be automatically removed, the special documents
will have significantly shorted life spans (1 to 8 weeks).

  • How to make a custom theme a default theme?

    Hi gurus,
I want to change the internal default theme to the one I've created but the option to make the custom theme a default theme is greyed out, how do i make it not to be greyed out? I'm using SAP Sourcing 10.0 (Please see attachements)
Your assistance will be highly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Sabelo.

    Hello Sabelo,
Hope you can solve your issue by doing these actions:
    Shutdown the NetWeaver system
Delete the node folders server0, server1, serverx (/usr/sap/SID/SID/j2ee/cluster)
    Start the NetWeaver system
When you start the system it will recreate the node folders and they should be in a synchron state as it loads the complete content out of the database. This means that it will create your custom theme on all nodes.
    Best regards

  • Custom Greeting Using Phone

I have Exchange 2013 UM setup and now I want to call in and be able to record a custom greeting the Auto Attendant. Is there a step by step on how to enable this?
    Thanks

    Yep:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691404(v=exchg.150).aspx
    And:
    http://www.petri.com/creating-custom-prompts-in-unified-messaging.htm#
That's 2010, but 2013 is pretty much the same as both are a PowerShell Command.
To turn it on for all dial plans, run:
    Get-UMDialPlan | Set-UMDialPlan -TUIPromptEditingEnabled $true
Then you call in and hit # *.  You need to have the Unified Messaging RBAC role at a minimum.

  • Custom Greeting Using Phone for Recording (CUCX 9.1.1)

I'm running Unity Connection 9.1.1 and I am attempting to record a custom greeting for one of my users. I accidently punched in the wrong number in the Media Master Control Panel when it prompted me for a number.
I now cannot remove the stupid number to put a new one in.
I have tried removing the user and then importing the user back into the system. The Media Master Control Panel still has the wrong number stored.
How do I change the number so that I can use one of my IP phones to record the greeting?
    -Matt

Nice to hear you found a solution by yourself.
However I'd like to mention, that your running into a Bug:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCue74920
If you experience this bug and are running Java Runtime Environment 7 on your computer, just install JRE 6 and the Pop-up will show as expected.
As a permanent solution you can upgrade your Unity Connection according to the details in the bugs description
    cheers

  • Setting customized keyboard as default

Everyday I need to be able to type English, Esperanto and German. Right now I have a customized US English keyboard to type Esperanto characters and I also have a German keyboard and I swap between them to type German. What I find annoying is that I can't choose this US Esperanto keyboard as default. I downloaded it and installed it, but I can't set it as my default, so I have to swap keyboards all the time. What I would really like to do is especially customize this keyboard to run Dvorak and also easily type German letters, but I'm afraid I won't be able to set it as default as the only keyboard on my system. In any case, all I want to know: is there is any way to select a customized keyboard as default? Thanks in advance.

I think this is the best one can do:

I just purchased iPhone 5S and I am unable to record my custom greeting.  It seems like it is recording but when I tried to play it back it just plays "hello" and that is it.

Hacking an iPhone is against's Apple license agreement for the iPhone and is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via these discussions not to mention removes the built-in security included with iOS and has likely bricked your iPhone now.
