Custom Install Never Works For Me FCS 1

I installed Leopard the other day and now I just want to reinstall Motion 2 and nothing else. I put in my FCS 1 installer disc and I did the custom install option where I deselected everything but the Motion application (no content). I clicked continue and the installer is installing everything. Why?
This happened to me before when I wanted to go back from FCS 2 to FCS 1.
Anyone else have this happen to them?
Thanks

Well, it is a whopping 2 years old. I guess I shouldn't expect so much from Apple, huh?
Motion 3 isn't usable for me. It is slooooow with basic 2D projects that are in "real time" in Motion 2. It renders 4X slower than Motion 2.
I finished the whole install. It seems Motion 2.0.1 doesn't work in Leopard. I have another drive with Tiger on it. I'll have to boot into that, install Adobe software onto that hard drive (what ever happened to "Packages"?) since it's all installed on the Leopard drive. Another day wasted.
I'm really getting tired of feeling like I'm on a Windows machine with all these hassles on my Mac. Is Apple completely blowing off their pro customers? It seems they are losing their focus and have been putting out a lot of faulty "pro" software lately.
Sorry for the rant. Thanks for your input.

I should have added to my posting (instead of using this "reply" -  it is the server passwork it is asking for and I have never known that I had one and assumed it was the passwork I always used for this type of thing.

Sounds like you have a battry issue but don't want to believe it.
If a car was running fine on one tank of gas, then you filled it up with another tank of gas and it began to run funny, one might suspect that tank of gas. But let's just say coincidence blew a valve-- would you think the new tank of gas was the culprit?
BUT WAIT!! It just might have been! The gas could have been of higher octane and put more more strain on the valves; you know, like going from 87 octane (OS6) to 93 octane (OS7) and showing you the engine was on the edge of compromise.
Sometimes you have to go with common sense. If everything else is ruled out, it must be the battery. And if it runs fine one moment in OS6 but immediately ***** in OS7, I'd believe my battery was suspect-- though comfy-- in OS6 but the OS7 showed its true power.
Moreover, if you had the answer-- or didn't want to believe someone's more competent advice-- why did you even call?  You've already shown that you don't know much when you asked if you could go backwards after setting up the new OS as a new phone.
Additonally, if you're such the know-it-all, but yourself the $29 battery and put it in yourself. It's a piece of cake.

  • QT7 installing(what worked for me)

There have been numerous post's about having problems installing QT7. I had the same problem and got the same errors that other's are posting. There doesn't seem to be a accurate solution to this problem of wether it is the Microsoft OS or the Apple installer. So I will post what worked for me in finally getting QT7 standalone to install.
I downloaded SP2 for XP pro to get Windows Installer 3.1, I previously had version 2.0
I then removed QT from the computer using the add/remove control panel. And then went to the Folder Options control panel and selected, show hidden files and folders. Then went to Start>search all files and folders, QuickTime, and removed all that was left behind.
I then went into the registry, Start>run>type in regedit>OK
In the registry, I first went to HKEYLOCALMACHINE+SOFTWARE and deleted Apple Computer, Inc. And then hit the F3 key on the keyboard to get the next QT registry key to appear delete it and hit the F3 again for the next one to appear, and keep repeating this until they are all removed.
I then went to each registry listing-HKEYCLASSESROOT, HKEYCURRENTUSER, HKEY_USERS, HKEYCURRENTCONFIG
And would click on one to highlight and then go to the Edit menu, click find, type in QuickTime, hit the enter key on the keyboard. Delete the QT registry entry, and hit the F3 keyboard key for the next one to appear. I went thru this procedure until everything QT was removed from the computer.
Note: the registry is very risky to go into deleting keys. It would be wise to go to the microsoft website to get further info before attempting anything in it!
This worked for me. QT7 standalone then installed. I also downloaded Windows Installer Clean up Utility. Ran it and found QT 7.02 in there and removed it.
    goodluck

I don't know why this is not installing on some computers and not others. It took me 2 or 3 days to get it to.
The only things I did was update to SP2 to get Windows Installer 3.1 Remove everything QT from the computer as I previously mentioned.
In Install Shield I downloaded driver 7. I had read a article about having the same number driver in Install Shield as the first number of the version of the progarm you are trying to install. In this case it is 7.0.2, so I downloaded 7. I did not bookmark the link to this. So I don't know now where it is on the web. But after doing this it still did not install.
It didn't install to after I removed QT from the computer and ran Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. And removed QT which was in there. Here is the link to download the installer cleanup utility.

Also this link my be of interest.
    http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108393
I don't know what it was exactly that got it to install. But this is all I did. If you have any other questions or compare what I have on this computer your welcome to ask.
I realize it is fustrating and wish I could have been of more help.

  • Apple tv 2 never works for me

I spent hours on the phone to apple support when I bought the apple tv 6 months ago and it never worked unless plugged into my modem in the office directly. It seems to be something to do with the wireless network.... however, everything else on our 4 computers works well wirelessly. We never saw one film on this device and gave up. My laptop downloads films in itunes easily.... but not on the apple tv box. I should add it does play u-tube and previews..
Is this something to do with being in Australia and having little support for our wireless protocols here ?
    Anyway...
After 6 months still unused, I have just updated ( 2 updates since my last attempt to watch a film), and guess what... the apple TV does not work. I choose film and go through to the final stage where it says that it can not find my account / password ! It asks me to go to iforgot.apple etc... however, I have not forgotten my password... it just doesn't work.
Extremely frustrating as we'd really like to watch a film tonight and again are left to watch rubbish tv...
We expect something that is so simple ( just streams video) to work easily but it seems troubleshooting and alot of time investigating is required to get this little sucker to work. Have I got preferences set somewhere in Apple land that is stopping films to download?
    Not happy.

I've had similar issues in the UK with my ATV. I am able to stream photos and music from any of the other devices around the house, via wi-fi to it, but movies have been hit and miss. We have had 3 that have stopped during playback, telling us it will be another 1 1/2 hrs before it has loaded. We have ended up trying the following:
    Resetting the ATV
    Restoring it to factory settings
    Trying different wi-fi channels
Using Ethernet (it's about a foot away)
Downloading movies way in advance of watching them
Our wi-fi signal is full strength with an average rate of 9.8MB and I don't have issues with drop-outs or impaired performance on any other device as far as I know. I've had to resume movies by renting them again on our Virgin Media service and get refunds from the iTunes store...
It's been really frustrating, but speaking to experts in my local Apple store and finally, Applecare, it appears that I may have a rogue unit. I'm sending it back for them to check as it is still under warranty.

  • Compressor never works for me

I shot my friends music video with my Canon 7D, imported it straight into FCPX- edited it- sent it to compressor- chose 1080p HD Video sharing, and it never works. The compression fails everytime. I've tried other compression settings as well.
    Any help?
    Macbook Pro i7
    8GB ram
    Os X.7.2

Plenty of bugs with this.  For one thing, you never want Final Cut and Compressor competing for system resources.  Both use VRAM, RAM, and CPU cycles.  Quitting Final Cut ensure that compressor has all the resources to itself.  The other big problem is that the hand off frequently goes really badly.  By submitting a stand alone Quicktime file, you know for certain what type of file you are submitting to compressor.

  • Adobe acrobat professional has never worked for me

    I have windows 7 64 bit.
I updated Pro 9 to 9.5   I problem as been endemic since my purchase a year ago. No support avaiable.  The X trial didn't work either.  Enlarge the enclosed copy... the problem should be obvious!

Yes Thank you. I will try to factor when it works and when it does NOT. Generally when I wish to print a web page using IE 9 32 or 64 bit it usually never works corrently http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/searchTiresByVehicleAndSize.do?v=006501%7C1992&r=FLMINT%7 Cpc%7C32963&ar=70&rd=14&cs=195  does not work however, http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/games/songs/childrens/maryhadmid.htm  works without error.

  • Sample Custom SSO not working for external userid mapped in userprofile in 11.1.1.8

    Hi,
    WebCenter sites v: 11gR1 (11.1.1.8)
I am in the process of validating Custom SSO Behaviour. I am facing hurdles. I have mentioned below the steps I preformed.
    1. Deployed customizable-sso-11.1.1.8.0 .jar in cas/WEB-INF/lib
    2. Copied SampleLoginform.jsp file to cas/fatwire
    3. Copied the customSampleSSObeans.xml configuration file into cas/WEB-INF/spring-configuration folder.
    4. Modified the following bean
            <bean id="customUserConfiguration" class="com.fatwire.wem.sso.cas.sample.SampleConfiguration"
                    p:casLoginUrl="http://xyz.com:7001/cas/login"
                    p:resolverUrl="http://xyz.com:7001/cs/custom/customCsResolver.jsp"
                    p:resolverCredential-ref="resolverCredential"
                    p:traceFlag="false"
                    p:sampleDomain="mydomain"
                    p:sampleFormUrl="http://xyz.com:7001/cas/fatwire/SampleLoginForm.jsp"
                    />
Note: p:resolverCredential - I found it new in this bean, as it is not referenced anywhere in the WCS documentation. This resolverCredentail is actually another bean configured in customResolverCredentail.xml under spring-configuration folder. Also, I am not sure if p:sampleDomain has to be modified to suit the environment. Currently I have retained the default value of "mydomain".
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans"
            xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:p="http://www.springframework.org/schema/p"
            xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans-2.0.xsd">
            <description>
This defines the SitesCS username/password credentials needed for identity resolution
            </description>
            <bean id="resolverCredential" class="com.fatwire.security.common.SecurityCredential">
                    <property name="username" value="fwadmin" />
                    <property name="password" value="xceladmin" />
                    </bean>
    </beans>
The default value mentioned for property name username and password were "@username@" and "@password@" respectively. I changed them to fwadmin/xceladmin as in the file above.
    5. In WCS Admin UI, I added a user atribute "samplesso" and assigned unique value for couple of users
    6. Restarted CAS.
    7. On accessin wcs url, I am now redirected to custom sample login page(SampleLoginform.jsp)
Following are the form fields: username, password, domain, external userid
    8. It works fine, if I submit wcs credentails for username, password and default domain (mydomain) and I am taken to the WCS Admin UI
    9. But if I submit domain(mydomain) and mapped user(unique value in sep 5) against userid, I get an error page. Following is the error
org.springframework.webflow.engine.ActionExecutionException: Exception thrown executing [AnnotatedAction@5f82e73 targetAction = com.fatwire.wem.sso.cas.web.CustomLoginViewAction@68b18314, attributes = map[[empty]]] in state 'viewLoginForm' of flow 'login-webflow' -- action execution attributes were 'map[[empty]]'; nested exception is java.lang.SecurityException: java.lang.NullPointerException
What is the cause and fix for the problem. Am I supposed to perform any other step?
Is there anything specific to p:resolverUrl="http://xyz.com:7001/cs/custom/customCsResolver.jsp" ? I did not do any deployment corresponding to this, as there was no such step mentioned in documentation.
    Thanks

I just recently implemnted this for my current client.
    http://xyz.com:7001/cs/custom/customCsResolver.jsp
The context "cs" here is important. For my current client, we installed 11G with context "cm". So for us the the resolver URL is:
http://xyz.com:7001/cm/custom/customCsResolver.jsp  and when we login into FatWire we use:
    http://xyz.com:7001/cm/login.
If you look in your Sites application folder you should see <Sites App/Context>/custom/customcsResolver.jsp. In the Jsk it's located at:
    C:\Oracle\WebCenter\Sites\11gR1\App_Server\apache-tomcat-6.0.32\webapps\cs\custom\customCsResolver.jsp

  • IChat never works for AV

I can never get ichat to work with the video or voice feature when trying to ichat with another mac user. I am able to msg them but when they or I try to request a video or audio chat it just says trying to connect or waiting for other party to accept but they never get the request. Although I do get requests from another person to start an av chat I accept but for the other person it just says waiting for user (me) to connect and never does
I have even tried ichatting on the same local network with no firewalls on either machine but still no luck. I have forarded all the appropriate ports. Neither machine has osx's firewall turned on.
    any ideas guys im stumped

This problem seems to be ubiquitous around the world. I am currently in Australia and trying to help a friend to overcome this problem.
I believe the underlying problem is the Quality of Service features implemented in v3 with Tiger. Reference the following help page:http://www.mvldesign.com/videoconferencetutorial.html, and the discussion on Quality of Service. Although they reference that the message "Insufficient bandwidth" comes up when the ISP improperly configures his router, I think that the other message "name not responding" also comes up under this condition.
I had my friend in Australia who could not connect with his ISP bring his iMac G5 down to my son-in-laws house who has been successfully using iChat AV with me in the US using a different ISP. When my friend connected using my son-in laws ISP all the problems went away.
Bottom line: some ISPs have not or do not know how to configure their server for QOS to allow iChat AV traffic to pass. Even if you talk to tech support at the ISP you may often encounter someone who is not sufficiently knowledgeable and you run up against a brick wall. The only solution is to change ISPs and I would reccomend that you have your ISP commit to install and support you until iChat AV can be demonstrated, before you sign a contract.

  • Back to my mac has never worked for me [sigh] - Help?...

    Hi Gang,
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I've never been able to set up Back to my mac. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it if you've got a dot mac account, all Apple hardware and (in my case) a static IP address for the Airport Base Station (which is now a 1TB TimeCapsule). I feel like I must be missing something obvious as it seems I see the problem appearing less frequently with posts on and off this board now that 10.5.2 is out. Have a missed a post here which solved something obvious?
    Here's the basic setup.
Home Computer is G5 Tower, always on connected directly to TimeCapsule which is connected directly to cable modem. The TimeCapsule has a static IP address and I have a couple others which are unassigned. Running 10.5.2 with Back to my Mac Enabled.
Laptop MBP moves all over town and country (and globe) with all the same systems and updates.
I have 3 different dot mac accounts (all full user) and have rotated through them to see if that would help. I'm not 100% certain which one the desktop is running, so I've registering all 3 (one at a time, of course) to see if it would magically show up in the shared bar. I'm not entirely certain if I'd need to log in and out to see that. Am I?
I run Apple Remote Desktop 3 when I'm on my local network, but have never used it across the internet. Tried it last night from London and realized there are configuration issues that I'm probably not aware of and just have not had time to troubleshoot it whilst on a family trip here.
I did (only for this trip) password protect the screen (in Security prefs), but I thought that would at least present itself for entry if I was successful enough to actually access the G5 Tower. Yes? No?...
I'm just kind of stuck and it would be so nice to be able to access the desktop on this trip. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix while I'm on the road?
    Very much obliged,
    Mick

    Thanks Dogg,
I had a moment of light when I was able to access my wife's computer (which was on) and then remotely access the desktop. For about 5 whole minutes it worked! I checked the settings there and then made the really stupid mistake of trying to change the Screen Sharing settings away from Remote Management to Screen Sharing, and then totally lost my connection. I feel so dumb. I'd forgotten that turning one off to get the other on would obviously not work. [sigh]
But at least I saw it work briefly on another computer.
Any idea how to turn BACK on Screen Sharing or Remote Management, remotely?
    much obliged,
    Mick

  • IMovie08 has never worked for me, is it My NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card???

My preinstalled copy of iMovie v 7.1.1 will not startup, the dock icon will show that the app is not responding
I have a fresh out of the box 2 x 3.2 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Power Mac
    pre-installed Mac OSX 10.5.1
I migrated from my titanium laptop to my new Mac.
migrated my user account, applications and system settings
then used the Mac OSX 10.5.2 combo update
    I then reinstalled iMovie
running disk permission repair before and after each of the step I took above
    still no go
    Application Not Responding
several post state that removing some of the preferences will help this issue but so far those haven't worked at all in my case
would be great to know exactly which preferences have anything to do with iMovie
I have scanned over the discussions and seen this very topic all over, but no apple tech responding.
please let us in on how to resolve this issue
I hope we can do this without completely reinstalling all software.(makes a preinstall pretty useless)
thanks for any and all suggestions

hi - is anyone else having this problem today? it was working perfectly for me yesterday but no joy today. The air.swf is still loading in correctly and works fine if you already have the Air runtime installed. But once it tries to install the runtime, you get "A download error occurred. Try to download again?" I've checked it on a couple of different air app sites and its not working anywhere. Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions about how to fix it? Thanks

The issue is no longer happening. It continued for most of Wednesday but I haven't experienced the problem since then. Thanks for looking into it. Caitriona

I am trying to install the air application (native exe) in C:\Program Files  using silent install, below is the command that I am using.. (have tried with the path in quotes as well)
    MyApp.exe -silent -location C:\Program Files
It doesn't seem to work with space in the folder names in the path.

Any ideas of how to get this working ?

Thanks very much for digging in to this.
I am taking a look at the parameter parsing in the native installer code and will give you an update soon.

Could you please verify that you get the same error message in the log if you use:

  • WiFi sync NEVER works, for any of my devices

    Hello, Apple Support Community!
This is a problem I have had for literally years now, and always just dealt with it. Today, however, I'm in a mood and it's especially p---ing me off.
    First, the details.
    My devices:
    - A PC desktop computer (HP Omni 200), running 64 bit Windows 7
    - iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1.1
    - iPad 2 also running iOS 7.1.1
I update iTunes regularly, and it's currently version 11.2.2
All devices are on the same network (the -only- network available to me in my home).
I have both my phone and my iPad checked to sync over wifi. On the rare occasion, when I start up iTunes on my computer, they will show up under "devices" and stay there. 90% of the time, however, either they'll show up for a moment, like they're loading, and then disappear, or won't show up at all. I've tried restarting iTunes a bunch of times. I've tried running iTunes as an administrator (which will sometimes work if I am verrry lucky). I've restarted my computer, and each device. I've tried turning WiFi off and on again on the devices, which leads to them showing up briefly in iTunes, again with the loading circle, before disappearing yet again. I've tried having the devices connected to power. NOTHING seems to be a permanent fix. This is something I've struggled with for years, and keep hoping that the next iTunes update will solve the problem, but nope. I have grown to hate iTunes with a burning passion, but I have such an extensive music library there, and with my other "iDevices", I've kept around for the sake of simplicity. It's not that I really mind plugging them in via USB to sync, but there are other features (such as the iTunes Remote app) that rely on the device being connected over WiFi.
This seems like such a ridiculous issue, and I am baffled as to why it has persisted for so long (and for so many people). Stop updating the "look" of iTunes and actually fix the stupid thing! If anyone has any permanent solutions outside of throwing my electronics out the window, I would appreciate your help!

Okay, nevermind the sync for now. I did know it has to be connected to power, but that is irrelevant since my devices won't appear in iTunes at all.
I am pretty sure the issue is with iTunes, as the it persists no matter what network I am on. I just moved recently, and now have internet with an entirely different provider and still no luck. Today I changed my network name and password, reconnected my computer, phone, and iPad all to the same network, no change. I also tried ending the "AppleMobileDeviceHelper" process in Windows Task Manager repeatedly, a solution I saw in a thread for the same issue - still nope. I have Norton Internet Security and manage all firewall setting through there. iTunes and all related incoming and outgoing connections are allowed, so it's not my firewall either. I am at a sincere loss with this.

  • SSDD - Network-Manager-Applet never works for me...

So I've discovered the wonders of E17 and everything works wine, apart from a few minor bugs of course, but nothing to do with networking.
Just to be sure I've been following the instructions on the wiki, but though it would seen that nm-apples is actually started, it does not show up in the taskbar, which kinda defeats the purpose.
I should mention of course that to the best of my abilities I've checked and rechecked that there's nothing wrong with my network interfaces. After much meddling about I even succeeded in compiling connman, which seem to work, only my wireless is disable in the process and I can't seem to enable it.
When I log out and try a: "ip link set wlan0 up" and all I get is this:
RTNETLINK answers: operation not possible due to RF-kill
which of course is of no help at all.
I don't know where else to go from here, apart from one of those Linus distributions where the wireless is more or less the only thing that works.
I don't really know what I'm asking for, but I'm out of ideas and certainly out of my mind to go trough this every single time and either ending up creating the connection manually every time it's needed, or something else than Arch.
Mind you I'm not saying that this is anyone's fault but my own, only I can not see how it can be my own. I've tried just about everything, including praying to various gods.!
Well, enough ranting. If anyone have any suggestion, they are certainly welcome.
    Best regards.
    edit:
I should be sure to mention that the rf-kill issue is not a hardware switch issue. The issue does not exists using networkmanager.
