Custom JAVA/ABAP functions in VC

Hello gurus!
status: I'm using NW2004s: EP7 SP8 & BI SP9;
In visual composer I am trying to shuffle/duplicate/replace/add rows in a resulting table view, which gets data from bw query.
I can use Expressions in VC to work with columns, but not really to work with rows (exception is to set text style/color/etc. in cell per row).
So, I wonder if it is possible to create a function (for example in JDK or in ABAP), and then use it in visual composer (like one can use BAPI from R3 connection type) to receive-in data from above mentioned table view, to transform it and then to output it (in a new table view)?
All ideas will be appreciated,
--- Kaspars

  • Crystal Reports for VS2010 using a custom SAP ABAP function module data source

I recently worked with Crystal Reports 2011 and was able to connect and retrieve data from our R/3 system via an ABAP function module. While researching other features, I found this version that can be installed into Visual Studio 2010. The parameters are not very user friendly in Crystal Reports so I was hoping to create a custom dialog to collect my report parameters.
Does anyone know if I were to install Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010, would I be able to design a front-end selection screen in a Visual Basic form and then pass the input to through the Crystal Reports connection to my ABAP function module to retrieve the data filtered on the back-end by the selection screen parameters and return the results to be reported in the Crystal Reports output?
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Professional Visual Basic with the .NET Framework 4.0 on 32-bit Windows 7. I was able to connect to our R/3 system in Crystal Reports 2011, so if I were to install Crystal Reports for VS2010, would there be a similar way of connecting to SAP?
Any assistance or direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hello Bryan
I don't know for sure, but I doubt this will work in CRVS2010. Only hope is that the utility available for download in this KBA will point you in the right direction.

  • Customized java date function in heart of JDK

    hi
how can i force JDK to return Persian or Arabic date instead of christian era?
i have an application in java platform. i couldn't change code of program, because source is closed and is not reachable. i want to know how can i use a wrapper for date function in java? if it is possible how can i replace java date functionality with my desired date function?
    thanks for any help

    Thanks for your help.
however i looking for one thing, similar a function wrapper that can substitute original method.
I don't know where the application use date function and how calls it. so i think that it is possible to change behavior of java itself.

  • Java Subscription Function

I created a custom java subscription function to be called from a business event and it worked fine the first time but when I started to add lines of code to it, those new lines are not being executed. I even tried deleting the class file and it was still executing the old code. It looks like the java class is being loaded in a jvm. Can you guys point me to the jvm that handles the java subscription function? What process do I need to restart to flush the jvm. If it is something else other than the jvm, what do i need to restart for the new class to take effect? Any documentation on the architecture will be helpful as well.

You are attempting to use Business Event system to get a status back to the calling program (in your case Product Workbench). Please note that your calling transaction (Product Workbench transaction) and the Business Event subscription's transaction are different.
Once you raise the business event, the BES sets a savepoint before executing the subscription and rolls back to that subscription when you raise the BusinessEventException. So the subscription transaction is rolledback but the exception is not really raised back to the Product Workbench.
If you are on Oracle Applications 12.0 you have a workaround though. The BusinessEvent class provides a new method called getResponseData. So you may pass a status back to the calling program by setting the response data of BusinessEvent object and from Product Worbench, call getResponseData and decide whether to continue or rollback the transaction.
    Thanks

  • F4 / Help Functionality for input field in custom java iView

    Hi,
As we see many F4 help on each input field in a transaction, how can we mimic the same functionality in a Custom Java iView. For example, ME23N, you can search a PO based on some criteria, when i create a new custom java iview using BAPI_PO_DISPLAY, how can provide that F4 or help functionality to the Purchase Order field.
    Your help is really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
the F4 Help functionality is always of big concern when you're switching from a R/3 or ABAP-SAP GUI environment to a webfront end. First of all: the convinience you're used to of creating a seach help and adding it to your data fields is gone, i.e. the current development status in the portal/java/webdynpro implies that you have to do most of the work on your own. Simple value helps might not be a problem, but complex ones are (as the one you've described). Here is a link to a tutorial in Java-webdynpro, maybe it gives you an idea:

  • Duration of an Abap Function call from Java using Jco3

    Hi guys!
I would like to use this discussion to get some refernces of the duration Timespan of an RFC call from Java to SAP. At the moment, i need at last about 200ms to call the Abap function. I'm just using one simple import and export parameter (so no deep structures). I think that the reason for my poor performance is, that the Java Tool and the SAP instance are not in the same network. So, i hope some of you have some data, how fast an RFC call from Java using Jco can be executed.
    greetings, Hannes

    Hi Hannes,
I think you have already got the answer to your question - the network set-up you have is probably the bottleneck.  Whenever I've worked with Java <-> ABAP and they are in the same network, I've had no performance problems at all.
Does your RFC contain any complex logic or business processes?  Are you able to try and call something that does nothing, say it just accepts an input string and returns it straight away as an export.  Do you have any scope for testing with your Java tool on the same network as the SAP system?
    Cheers,
    G.

  • Web Dynpro Java Internationalization and backend ABAP function modules

    Friends,
I have a requirement where I want my Web Dynpro Java application to support BRAZIL and CHINESE.
I have been through the sample programs and tutorials and I understand how to support my application in these 2 languages. The challenge I am facing is how to communicate the language to the backend code (ABAP function modules) so that the function modules can written language specific error messages and texts.
I searched SDN but could not find anything. Your help is appreciated.

    Prashant,
When you are configuring JCo connection in WebDynpro Content Administrator, just left language settings blank for metadata connection (you may do the same for data connection). Now WD will supply language of currently logged-in user when obtaining connection settings from system landscape and you'll get necessary functionality.
By default locale of user determined by parameter sap-locale (sap-locale=de_DE for example), settings of user's browser and lastly preferences of user stored in UME.
Btw, BRAZIL (or Portugees for this matter) is not fully supported language by SAP, so R/3 side may be not  translated or partly translated.

  • Error - Creating a Web Dynpro Application Accessing ABAP Functions

    Dear All,
we are trying to implement a web dynpro application with accessing ABAP functions.
    Previous tasks:
    -     insert the ABAP system into the SLD from the NWDI System (Transaction RZ70; the ABAP system is correctly insert into the SLD => technical systems)
    -     equipped the JCO connections with the web dynpro content manager (ping and test = OK)
It’s the standard tutorial out of the SDN called “Creating a Web Dynpro Application Accessing ABAP Functions”.
    Some hints:
    -     There are no errors after the implementation and the “rebuild” of the project in the NWDS
    -     The auto deployment works fine to the development runtime system. The application is shown in the Web Dynpro content manager

    -     I’m able to start the application out of the Web Dynpro content manager with “run” => only the user interface is displayed without any functionality
    -     The “normal” start over the NWDS fails => error text
“com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.core.DispatcherException: The requested deployable object 'local/J08_Flugdat_Daventdcflight~xxx.com' and application 'FlightListApp' are not deployed on the server. Please check the used URL for typos.”
There two different URLs in use.
    Start via NWDS:
    http://frasapp562:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/J08_Flugdat_Daventdcflight~xxx.com/FlightListApp
Start via web dynpro content manager:
    http://frasapp562:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/xxx.com/aventdc~flight/FlightListApp
For test purposes, we started the BAPI (BAPI_Flight_Getlist) on the ABAP system directly. It works.
Any ideas about the system behaviours (different URLs and missing functionality)?
    Thanks a lot in advanced!

I found at "How to Use the Web Dynpro Content Administrator.pdf" a good place to look for my mistake. But a big question appeared:
Once I get in the Web Dynpro Content Administrator  and found my deplyed app I found this two JCo:
    WD_MODELDATA_DEST
    WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST
Witch status was a little grey diamond, or something like that. ¿Can somebody tell me what is happening with this Jco?
The page 27 of the pdf mentioned before, was different in my IDE SAP Developer Studio, the only option, by default, that give me was to choose between WD_MODELDATA_DEST and
WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST. I have two fields that must be fill to pass to the next dialog box or finished the creation RFC model.
    Thanks a lot !!!

    Hi,
In NWDS, you should have defined your own JCo destinations when creating your model. For example:
    - WD_<yourApp>_MODELDATA_DEST
    - WD_<yourApp>_RFC_METADATA_DEST
Then in the Web Dynpro Content Administrator, you must create them, ie specify connection types, connection parameters...
For this, choose the button Maintain JCo Destinations, find the connetions you've created in NWDS and click the button Create. Just follow the steps of the wizard, and you're done!

  • Passing an XML file from WebDynpro app to ABAP function module

    Hi all,
I'm stuck with a problem, and am hoping one of you could let me know how to proceed:
I need to pass an XML file (or at least the entire content of the XML) from my WebDynpro application to a backend ABAP function module. What I tried was this:
In my WebDynpro app, I read the XML and convert the content into one long string (using java.io.FileReader and java.io.BufferedReader). In my ABAP function module I created an import parameter of type String. I then imported the ABAP Function module into my WebDynpro app as a model. I then tried to pass the XML string to the ABAP module. What happens is this:
If the size of the string (XML) happens to be less than 255 characters, then it works. That is, the string is passed to the ABAP function module and I can see the contents. However, if the XML string happens to be greater than 255 characters, then it does not work. The string at the ABAP side is empty. Surprisingly, the ABAP module does not throw an error either. It just displays an empty string.
Could you please tell me what the problem is?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Biju

    Hi Biju ,
    Welcome to SDN.
If the import parameter is defined as type string it should work, however did you check whether your application pass it properly?
I have applications using strings as import parameters working fine. (webapplications (BSP) to RFC)

  • Memory leak in JCO when calling an ABAP-function that returns larg tables

    Hello everybody,
I think discovered a memory leak in JCO when the calling functionions that have exporting tables with large datasets. For example the ABAP-function RFC_READ_TABLE, which in this example I use to retrieve data from a table called "RSZELTTXT", which contains ~ 120000 datasets. RFC_READ_TABLE exports the data as table "DATA".
    Here a simple JUnit test:
    http://pastebin.ca/1420451
When running it with Sun Java 1.6 with standard heap size of 64mb I get a heapsize OutOfMemory error:
    http://pastebin.ca/1420472
Looking at the heap dump (which I unfortunately cannot post here, because of it' size), I can see that I've 65000 char[512] array objects in my heap, which don't get cleaned up. I think, each char[512] array stands for one dataset in the exporting table "DATA", since the table contains 120000 datasets, the heap is full after the first 65000 datasets are parsed. Apparently, JCO tries to read all datasets in memory instead of justing reading the dataset to which the pointer (JCoTable.setRow(i)) currently points to and releasing it from memory after the pointer moves forward ...
    Did anybody else experience this?
Is SAP going to remove to issue in upcoming versions of JCO?
    regards Samir
