Custom Presets Don't Work

I can save a custom preset, but when I load it, it has no effect on the sound. I have to load default effects and tweak them every time. Is there a way to troubleshoot this and get it working properly?

I tried to recreate your problem rendering Quicktimes to Animation + Alpha, ProRes 4444 + Alpha, and just plain H.264 and I didn't experience any darkening in all three renders.
The Quicktime animation codec is pretty ancient and hasn't been updated since Quicktime Pro 7. ProRes 4444 (AKA 4x4) is also as good as Lossless and has Alpha with a Depth option of Trillions of Colors +. I would suggest using that. In the Output Module box where it says Video Output choose Channels: RGB + Alpha, Depth: Trillions of Colors+, Color: Premultiplied (Matted) with Format Options set to ProPres 4x4.

XMMS Amp Presets don't work...

My XMMS presets don't work anymore and I can't figure out why.
I have the "eq.preset" file in my ~.xmms path as before. I'm using "emu10k1" driver, and my "/etc/asound.state" is the exact same one I used before re-installing my system.
I am completely uptodate on all my packages as well. Whether I run as root or user doesn't effect it either. I've even tried both the "OSS" and "Alsa" plugins to no avail.
Anybody having problems getting their XMMS presets to do anything?
I can set my all of my Amp settings to -20dB and it still does nothing. Absolutely nothing.
I'm at a loss here...It's gotta be something obvious I'm missing.

Thanks for the suggestion. In fact, that's exactly what I did after this torture with XMMS. I had to use my own custom BMP ABS build though. The Amp doesn't use the same passive filter as in XMMS, so it sounds quite muted to say the least.
For those interested, I believe you pass the "--with-xmms-eq" switch to configure in the PKGBUILD to enable it. BMP sounds great, looks better in GTK2, and I have no problem with my presets either.

AE upgrade now presets don't work?

Just recently upgrade my AE via the desktop ap (I have full CC) and now my animation presets won't work? I get an error box

I am trying to get the presets out of Bridge - do I need to also upgrade bridge? I can't see an upgrade for it on my desktop ap.

Phil, a specific bug was fixed in After Effects CC 2014.2 (13.2) that prevented application of animation presets from Bridge on any OS. I can confirm that this bug was fixed on both Mac OS and Windows.
You're likely seeing a different cause of the same problem. Two questions:
1. What version of Bridge is installed on your computer?
2. In Bridge, go to Preferences > Startup Scripts. In this dialog is After Effects CC 2014 listed, and is it enabled? If it is not present or enabled, that would explain the problem. A reinstall of Bridge and then After Effects will usually restore the proper scripts, though if you've already done so then I suspect that something may be failing with your install configuration. If you are using custom permissions on your student machines, that could be interfering with the script either being installed or initialized as expected. You'll probably want to contact technical support for help with that.
One further note: although browsing animation presets in Bridge provides a larger interface, it's not the recommended method. The Effects & Presets panel inside of After Effects is the recommended path for browsing and applying presets. Bridge does provide animated previews for the presets included with After Effects, not user-created presets; therefore it is of limited utility. The Effects & Presets panel is faster to use and easier to search.

Equalizer presets don't work in iTunes 11

Equalizer presets don't seem to be working in iTunes 11. I try selecting a number of them and they don't do anything. Anyone else having that problem?

So the latest itunes update, 11.0.1, seems to have corrected the equalizer preset bug we were having. But is has replaced it with another minor one. Since the update, any songs i have purchased from the itunes store are now un-editable upon immediate download. (This includes not being able to set the eq.) All the options are greyed-out. However I found that closing itunes, and reopening appears to correct the problem, and make the song editable again. Strange.
It's an easy work around, but it's still inconvenient to constantly have to shut and open the program.
I just thought I'd check to see if you're experiencing a similar problem.

Spry and custom Javascript don't work together

I'm using Spry form field validation, but also need to do some more specialized input checking. I've tried to add some custom Javascript to do this, but now my Spry stuff doesn't work! Is there a way to combine the two -- Spry + custom Javascript? (testing in Safari)

Custom Ringtones don't Work

Custom ringtones for my contacts are not working. They show up on my iphone as being assigned to the correct contact, but when receiving a call from that contact, it comes through with the default ringtone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If these are custom ringtones, here's a checklist for you:
1) When you added them, did you check to make sure they had a ".m4r" file extension before you moved them into iTunes?
2) After you moved them, did they show up in your Ringtones section in iTunes, and they showed up in your ringtone selection list?
3) When you selected these ringtones for each contact, did they play?
4) After you assigned them to each contact, were you able to return later, open the contact, and see that it had the ringtone you thought you assigned to it?
5) Do you have duplicate contacts in your Contacts?

I can not seem to migrate my presets from the WIndows environment
I have tried downloading them again, copying them
Although the appear in the Develop presets/User presets folder - they are not available in LR4?

I entered (copyed & pasted) the following commands separately into Terminal, which then prompted for my password, which I entered correctly and it proceeded to tell me that theres no such filename. But now that I'm reading your message again, it would appear that you made edits to your post.
There's no possible update, as I am running the updated OS. As for a downgrade, the ways of downgrading that I've researched seem to be a bit much, in regards to keeping data (music specifically) on my computer. Is there a way to re-do or maybe "repair" the installation of Mountain Lion?

Applied motion presets don't work with page transitions.

I created a multipage document within InDesign. I applied some of the available motion presets. I have a really hard time making the whole document play and than loop. The final file can be either PDF (interactive) or SWF. Please help!

Custom Name isn't working properly in the apply custom name preset

The custom field in apply custom name keeps the same name you put in when creating the preset. Shouldn't it leave the "custom" part of the name empty and ready to fill in whenever you apply that preset to a set of clips?
I set it up with the custom name of "Fog-Road". Obviously I don't want to rename every clip in my collection to those words.

Well, in spite of no replies, I continue to investigate this issue. It turns out the behavior is not different on my desktop and laptop. Instead, some files work for the web ID plate, and some don't. I can't figure out the pattern.
Here are some samples I've been playing with.
The first three files do NOT work as an ID plate and are blank on the web page. The last three files do work.
The first file -- yellow logo -- is Index color mode, but when I change it to RGB it still does not work for the ID plate. The two text-only files -- "another test" and "test two" -- were made in PS with a new file, add text, flatten, save. They do not work.
The three files that work -- the last three images -- were made from a JPG with just a crop, then add text, then fill the bkground with black.
Why the first three don't work and the last three do is a mystery.
Maybe now someone here will have a clue.

InDesignCC Keyboard shortcuts, both default and customized, don't work, or work sporadically

It seems like I'm not the only person having these problems, but I thought it was worthwhile to share my experience to see how many others are having the same issues.
I have several customized quick keys set up in InDesignCC, along with the default keyset. Some appear to work more or less correctly, some--a good example is "Links/Edit Original", which I attempt to use fairly regularly--don't work at all. Even a default quick key like Save As (cmd + shift + S) doesn't work. All that happens when I try to save as, is the word InDesign in the menu bar flashes every time I hit the key combination. Weirder still, if I put my cursor in the menu, and show the file drop down, and THEN try the quick key, it works just fine. I haven't made any system changes or updates, and this is something that's only a problem with InDesignCC (though I have had some similar issues with IllustratorCC), all my CS6 applications work fine. I've even looked through my keyset to make sure that there weren't any conflicts that I was missing, and there weren't. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or is anyone else dealing with it themselves?

This is a symptom of InDesign believing that the keyboard shortcut is allocated to a menuitem within the InDesign menu, most likely within the Services menu.
Similar behavior is seen for Cmd-Shift-L, which is InDesign's shortcut for left alignment, but by default recent versions of Mac OS X assign it to Search With Google, though it should only work when text is selected. Sometimes the OS beats out InDesign and sometimes it doesn't. It's clearly a bug in how InDesign handles its keyboard shortcut interface with the OS as a result of Cocoaization, and I understand InDesign Engineering spent some time trying to make it work and did not succeed.
Perhaps you can look in the Services menu for a clue, though its contents sometimes changes dynamically, so that may not work so well.
(hrmm; I see others have covered the above while I was doing other things. oops.)
With respect to Edit Original, are you aware that you can invoke that by option-doubleclicking? Not the same, but I find it more convenient.

Custom URL links in PDF don't work.

I have registered custom xyz: protocol handler in Windows.
Creating a hyperlink in MS Word and clicking it works OK – my handler app gets invoked.
Saving Word document as PDF used to work (somewhat – by passing URL to the default browser).
Recently it stopped working altogether.
Questions: where should I look for recent changes? In registry? Some configuration / setting in Adobe Reader UI?
And most importantly – can I create a hyperlink to my custom protocol that will NOT involve the default browser (as Chrome, for example, gets lost)?

Here is what I do.
1. Register txt: protocol with Windows to open Notepad.exe, with this txt.reg file:

Clicking “yahoo” opens your default browser and navigates to yahoo.com.
Clicking “txt” has no visible effect.
Expected: open Notebook.exe and attempt to open specified file.
Note: that txt link works OK if clicked in the Word.
Also, the custom links used to work in the past in Adobe Reader as well.
I am looking for two things:
1. What could I change in the process of saving PDF or in Adobe settings to make this work again?
2. Is there a way to specify hyperlink in PDF to a custom protocol handler and NOT have it go through the default browser?

Since Aperture Update, certain keyboard short cuts don't work

I have a keyboard shortcut set-up for Curves Auto RGB which was working fine until the upgrade. Now, when I hit the key combo, it seems to be applying a Quick Fix Preset. Wrong!
I checked the assignment in my custom keyboard commands menu and it's correct. What's more, I don't have any key-combo set up for any Quick Fix Presets.
Not sure what's going on. If I try to create a different key combo for my curves shortcut, nothing seems to work. No matter what I try, it applies a Quick Fix Preset.
I wondered if anyone else was experiencing such a problem post-update.

Compressor Custom Preset Template

Hello All. Does anyone know how to make a custom preset available to all users in a school lab? I tried putting them into the Compressor folder in the User Template directory on the server, but the don't show up when they log-in and start up Compressor. Any hints would be appreciated.

Media Encoder CC exporting the wrong resolution in custom preset h.264

I have two custom presets in Media Encoder CC. The original file is an mov Lossless 720x480 from After Effects. One is h.264 mp4 720x480 and the other is h.264 640x480. When I encode the resolutions are 872x480 and 581x480 respectively. Not sure what I have going on here. The presets worked with the same settings just fine in Media Encoder CS6 on another computer. Any ideas?

"Archive" and "View" buttons don't work after folio update

Hi all,
I have a subscription to the professional edition and I have built a custom viewer app for Android. I have built about 10 folios and at first download all is ok, the folios are displayed without problems and the app works fine except for one issue: "Archive" button don't work, when I tap on it, near folio cover, nothing happens, the folio does not disappear from folios list.
But the serious problem occurs when I perform a folio update from Folio Producer ('Update content' from adobe dashboard DPS): both "Archive" and "View" buttons stop working, nothig happens when I tap tap on them and I am forced to uninstall and reinstall the application on tablet (.apk file) to see folio changes in my custom viewer.
This is very annoying as well as time expensive.
Tablet is Samsun Galaxy Tab SII with Android 3.2.
Any help is appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, the SII is a smartphone and not a tablet device, and the official claim is (correct me if I'm wrong) that DPS on Android is corrently tablet only.
Anyway, it seems strange to me so checked and found out that even though the DPS apps are not available when you search for them in the Play Market of a smartphone you can still force load them to the phone and run them.
I've done it on both a Samsung SIII running Android 4.0.4 and a Samsung GT-I9070 running Android 2.3.6 (I currently don't have a device running Android 3.2)
The interface is so small that it's hardly possible to use it, but it works.
