Custom search in a specific page

Oracle 9iAS R2
Hi,
I'm using custom seach portlets to provide teasers for the extended content placed in several content pages created in the same page group.
As an example, there are two distinct pages (ContentPageA and ContentPageB) containing several "News" items each. "News" is a custom item type similar to the "text" item type. Users that can enter content in on page are not suposed to include content in the other.
Then I place a custom search in the "Home" page customized to autoquery contents in "ContentPageA" and show only the last five items created. A link placed elsewhere provides access for the original page for users interested in complete content. The same is done for "ContentPageB".
My problem is that I want to specify the custom search to search exclusively in one page and not the other. I know I can use categories or perpectives to make the distinction of the content, but I cannot force users to choose the right attributes. As a result, a search for the last five items would bring the mixed items from each page, which is not desirable.
If autoquery is not in use, one can define the specific page for performing the search. How can I specify that in the autoquery mode???
Thanks for the help.
Joao

The ability to pre-select a page to search in is planned for a future release.

  • Narrow down search to a specific page?

    Hello,
How can I narrow down a search to a specific page in a PDF document?
For instance, I want to search only page 5.
    How can I do this?
Is there any documentation that specifically tells you how to narrow down a search to a page number?
    Thanks
    Linda

Actually, I need to find a particular page before I do a search on it.
My problem is that I need to search a specific book mark in a large document, however, the particular name of the bookmark appears three times and I want to search all three of these bookmarks.
Currently I am using the following to narrow my search to a specific bookmark:
    if (global.mainDoc.bookmarkRoot.children[i].name.indexOf("XYZ")!=-1) {
    // Do something
Unfortunately there are three bookmarks with the same name of XYZ and my search only goes to the last bookmark named XYZ.
I need to know how I can also search the other two bookmarks named XYZ.
The three same named bookmarks appear one right after the other.  Since I am able to search the last of the same named bookmarks, I would like to then go to the previous page and search that page.  Similarly I would like to go to the previous page before that one and search it as well.
I could obtain the number of the last bookmark named XYZ, subtract one from that page to obtain the previous page, and if there is a way to narrow a search to a page number I could search that page ,with the bookmark named XYZ, as well.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Linda

  • Muse search bar to specific page

    Hello,
I am very new to Muse, and so far its been great. This is also my first question on Adobe, so please take it easy on me if I've done anything wrong.
So, here's what I want to do. I am designing a website where I can give a customer a number (such as an order number) and they can type that number into a search bar, and bring up a page with information about their product (eg, is it finished, has it been shipped, and so on.) By using a simple number, and not including any personal information, I can allow my customer to look up their product, without having to log in. Similar to how a UPS tracking number works.
So, here's my problem. I have no idea how to do this. I don't know how to make this search bar, and I don't know how to link the numbers to the information. Should I create a new page with for each number? Is there a widget somewhere in the depths of the internet that would allow me to do this? Do I have to suck it up and force myself to learn HTML? So many questions.
Thank you very much for any help you can provide. I am not a graphic artist, in fact, I'm a biology major. I'm lucky enough that my school has computers filled with Adobe software that I sneak in and play with, but I'm far from an expert.

The only way you would be able to do that in Muse would be to create each page for the clients manually and send them the direct link. As an alternative you could use Business Catalyst as the host and use the tools with in Business Catalyst that do exactly what you need. There is a bit of a learning curve to that though.

  • Customized search portlet

In the configuration of the customized searh portlet I have two question:
    1. How can I force the research in a page and it's subpages whitout give the choise to the user?
    2. How can I force the research on a item type only?
For example, I have an item type with name Faq, and I wold give to the user a search box for to search in the items Faq in a fixed range (a page and it's subpages).
It's possible with the custom search portlet? What is the right way?
    I have Portal 10.1.2
    Thanks.

    Hi Smignani:
I've not had much luck funding how to limit a custom search to a specific page and its subpages. You can certainly limit it to a specific pagegroup if that helps. It is on the "What to search" tab. You can also take away their ability to choose a page by clearing the pagegroup and page check boxes on the "Search Form" tab.
If you don't want to give your FAQs their own pagegroup, here's a trick I have used with success in the past when dealing with a custom search and custom item types:
Create a new attribute called 'searchable' or 'faq'. Assign the attribute to your custom item type FAQ with a default value of Y. Set it so it is hidden (does not appear on create or edit). Now, edit your custom search and add the 'searchable'/'faq' attribute to the "Search Criteria" tab with a value of Y. Finally, remove the attribute from the search form and results display tabs.
This will cause the custom search to only return your FAQ item type. If used in conjunction with the removing the user's ability to select a page or pagegroup, this should effectively give you what you wanted I believe.

  • Google Custom Search not rendering, any ideas?

Can anyone tell me why embedded HTML code for Custom Search supplied by Google wouldn't be rendering in the Muse in-app "Preview" or when previewing in the browser? There's no trace of it. Have tried pasting code directly and as a HTML object. Help anyone?
I would have assumed it was a compatibility issue, but it should work without a problem according to the following blog post:
    http://www.muse-themes.com/blogs/news/7722357-embedding-a-search-bar-in-adobe-muse-google- custom-search

I started from this page: http://monarchhousing.org/search-our-site/
On the results page, which has no results visible, Firefox records this script error in the browser console:
TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary3244 is not a function
    file: https://www.googleapis''.''com/customsearch/v1element
    line: 2
After reloading the page, the function name changes:
TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary9727 is not a function
    file: https://www.googleapis''.''com/customsearch/v1element
    line: 2
I gather this is a randomly named function (makes it harder to search...). I can't figure out how this script file is called. Google has made it very complicated to debug. I suggest trying Google's support forum here:

  • Google Custom Search on my .Mac webpage

    Hi
I put a HTML snippet from Google's Custom Search in my iWeb page but do not get any results.
I read about registering the .Mac pages in the Google search index in other posts. Is this also needed for the Custom Search?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Well....sort of.  If you start Safari and have a designated home page there are a few problems.  For example, I needed to do a fast search this morning and here's how it worked:
    1. Open laptop, awakening it from slumber.
    2. Open Safari.
    3. Safari attempts to load home page.
    4. I attempt to delete home page URL so I can type in my search.
    5. HP (home page) URL re-pops into box eradicating the search I'd begun to type in.
    6. I attempt a delete/re-enter again and same thing happens again.
The third attempt was the charm, but it's extremely frustrating when you need to get a search started *NOW* and can't because, by golly! We aren't allowing that nasty, useful, non-obtrusive search bar to mess up a pristine desk top.  Yikes.  You'd think the whole "Save As" fiasco would've taught a valuable lesson or three.

  • Custom Search Portlet: How to specify a page in the auto query?

I want to specify a page in an auto query (Automatically display search results).
I'm able to specify a pagegroup (Tab What to Search), but unable to select a specific page and to include/exclude subpages.
This option is available on the SearchForm Tab. We are running 9.0.4.

A similar question was asked in this discussion:
    Custom Search Portlet
A Portal Search Team member replied that this feature might be included in 9.0.4.
We are testing 9.0.4 and it's not available. When is feature this scheduled?

  • Is there a way to search for a specific keyword within the sites to which the bookmarks are linked? I need to search all linked sites in the bookmark folder without having to open each page and "find" manually.

Currently, I must browse through 50 or so bookmarked pages to see if a specific topic is covered. I would like to be able to search all bookmarked pages at once for a specific keyword. For example, if I have 50 news sites bookmarked and I would like to see which pages have the word "tuna" in them, I would need to open each page individually and do a "find". If I could search all of those pages at once, then I would save an immense amount of time. I have looked on the add-ons and found nothing...

    1. Create a smart album and in the drop down in the top right corner select file status
    2. Check mark the file status box and select 'Offline'
Now you should have all your 'Offline' (Yellow Exclamation and/or Red Slash) files.
    To reconnect..
    1. Select the missing files.
    2. Go to File and scroll to Manage Referenced Files
The dialog box will have one of the photos selected
    3. Select the drive and folder that contains the referenced file and select it
    4. Click 'Reconnect All'
This might not reconnect all of them, but the dialog box will still be open and you can reconnect the ones left.

is ok; print the pages selected; if I use:

  • How can I remove google custom search bar from about:newtab page

When I open Firefox or a new tab I have it set to about:newtab which is great and all. Just recently I noticed a Google search bar on the new tab page though, that it immediately sets my cursor to. I prefer typing in the normal address bar at top. If I don't think to take that extra tedious step to click on the address bar before typing it opens to Google Custom Search Engine. Which does not have the images, maps, etc tabs along top. Making a simple task of researching something or other purpose just that much more annoying to do, because I'll have to type into the address bar anyways.
So I was hoping there is a way to remove this annoying Google Custom Search Bar from my about:newtab?
Or at the least make my cursor start in the address bar, not the Google Custom Search Bar.
This is a screen-cap of the Search Bar. http://gyazo.com/d75ccdea9b9d0bb4a3d347664be73771

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • How to use Custom Search in Dynamic Page or HTML Portlet ?

    Gurus,
    1. I have a tab called My Space in the portal web site, where user gets a personalized view of the content.
    2. I am using custom attributes and custom item types. I have a custom attribute called 'Location', which is a attribute of custom item types.
    3. I have 2 pages - News and Events.
    4. All the content in News and Events page is tagged by the attribute 'Location'.
    5. The requirement is to let the user search the News and Events by Location.
    6. To achieve this I used the Custom Search portlet and the user can select the attribute Location and see the resultant News and Event items by location in the Search portlet.
    7. The requirement is to present the News items and Event items in separate regions on the page and show only the first 5 News and Event items in the result and show a More link which would guide the user to rest of the News and Event items.
    8. Eventually there may be more content other than News and Events tagged by location. If so, the requirement is to create a new region and display the new content.
    9. How would I do this using custom search ? I was thinking if there is anyway I could use the custom search api (where can i find it ?) in the HTML portlet or Dynamic page and submit the result to IFRAMES in each region and show the output ?
    Pls advise.
    Thanx a bunch.

I would suggest that you use two custom search portlets; one for the news items and one for the events items. Switch the custom search portlets to "AutoQuery" mode and add the relevant criteria. On the results display tab of the the "edit defaults" screen, choose to show just 5 items.
To add a link to show the user mode results, I'd create two new pages that have just a single custom search portlet on it that is customised to show more of the results and maybe has the pagination links enabled.
Then I'd add two "Page Link" items underneath the two news and events portlets on the first page in an item region.
I'm sure there are other ways of doing this as well. Hope that helps to get you started.

  • Custom Search on Pages

    Portal 9.0.2.3.0.b
We wish to use a custom search portlet to allow users to search pages (not items) based on keywords. We have selected the keywords attribute but the search still looks at the display name and description as well. Is this expected behaviour? I thought the custom search should only query against the selected attributes.
    Thanks
    Lisa

Yes, this is expected behaviour for the "search term" ie. in the "Search For" field. It varies slight depending on whether Oracle Text is enabled or not. If it is not:
Searches are performed on the page attributes, such as title, description and keywords.
    If it is:
Searches are performed on the page attributes creator, description, keywords, name, title and updator.

  • Creat Custom Search Page

    Hi All,
I need to Create a Custom search and result page to search business partner in SAP CRM 2007.
Please help me to creat the same..
I have created my own Z Component need help to proceed further.
    THanks,
    Vandna

Now call your z component as a work center area link in the navigation bar. You can handle this requirement mostly with configuration in 'Define Workarea componnet repository' and 'Define UI object types' in 'Technical Role definition' and 'UI Framework Definition' respectively. Refer these wikis - 1 & 2 .

  • How to make Google custom search results appear on a new page?

Anybody got any idea how to make the search results appear on a separate page? I'm using the Google custom search to get generated code to place on my pages, after providing some 'guidance' information on the look and feel of it. Normally, Google will provide you with a few options to choose from to determine how your results will look and by default one would choose the "two page" option whilst going thru the setup process. One page for the search box on your own page and one for the results page.
However, if you don't want a 'google-generated' results page but want the layout that's in line with the look of your site AND have the search box already on there for any repeat searches it becomes more tricky. I tried doing it one way, which I found one a blog tutorial but so far no sucess. The 'search box' code that I inserted onto one of my pages to test didn't show up the search box at all in preview or the live page...
Anybody got any generic code that can be adapted (that they know works) or know of any tutorial that explains how to achieve this? Preferably Google related, as I'm using its custom search.
In addition, I believe that recently Google have deprecated the use of iframe in its search results pages so for anybody that was using an earlier version of this facility it may no longer work properly and hence the solution might have to be modified. Not an expert, so not sure how much this fact will affect the final code, just a thought.
Any ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hello adrianm12, this should be possible through the metro settings ("search"). also see [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941292 bug 941292]...
