Customizing business package

Hi,
I have a doubt regarding customizing the business package. we have downloaded and installed a business package. now i want to change some worksets and pages. so I made a local copy of all the worksets, roles, pages, iviews into my name space.
now, say i want to add a workset "XyZ" to a role campaignmanager, which came with business package. as i have copied them and pasted as delta link in my local workspace (CampaingMangerDL), I have added ths workset to the to this CampaignManagerDL role.
but my question is, when i open this DL(DeltaLink) role, CampaignManagerDL. It shows the attached worksets to that role, but all those worksets which are shown there are in SAP namespace.(for example Campaign management (com.sap.) ). should i delete it and add the workset (campaignmanagementDL workset, Delta link of original CampaignManagement (com.sap.) ) which is in my local namespace.
what is the procedure in the normal portal implementations.
Could some one guide me regarding this.
please help me in this regard
Thank you

Hi
The difference of a delta link is that u can change anything in targeti.e ur delta role that will not be affected in original source  i.e original role in ur business package.but if you change anything in source it will effect ur delta role.use this principle u ur self will be able to find solutions
of this part
<b>but my question is, when i open this DL(DeltaLink) role, CampaignManagerDL. • What is best UI technology to use for custom business package

    Hi,
I have a requirement to develop a custom Business Package for Treasury in Finance. With my past experience I am leaning towards Web Dynpro for Java.
Client does not have any programming language consideration.
Is there any body who has done something like this ? Can some expert suggest me if my choice of Web Dynpro might not be good and why?

    Hi,
If you don't have complex business logics and lot of portal runtime interaction then webDynpro is the best choice considering the ease of development and look and feel.
But your answer to the question is yes then you can think of java iView development along with webDynpro.

  • I could not able to see Imported Business Package

    Hi
I am using Standard Business Package for SAP CRM4.0 60.2.3; it is stored in PCD -> Migrated Content
I customized the Business Package and stored the content in my folder and transported the Business Package to Local (on Desktop) and Server (in server: C:\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\pcd\Export).
I did not deleted the Standard BP from PCD/Migrated Content
After importing the Customized Business Package from local system i could not able to see the Business Package in PCD.
I could not able to see the Customized BP in PCD….. , Whether that Standard BP should be deleted before Importing
What is the Default location it stores after importing?
Plz help me to solve this issue its very urgent.

In Transport Package i added all the dependent object and aswell the Role of Lead Management to that Package.

  • ESS Business Packages Migration from Ehp3 to Ehp4 with Custom Changes

    Hello All,
We are using ECC 6.0 With Ehp3 and We have the following versions of ESS and MSS Business Packages Installed.
    SAP_ESS 603 SP4
    SAP_MSS 600 SP15
We have NWDI server also installed in this and made some Customizations in ESS Webdynpro Java based applications.
We have freshly installed  a new portal development server with Netweaver 7.0 Ehp1 to cleanup unneccessary stuffs in our existing development portal server and pointed to the upgraded backend ECC 6.0 Ehp4.
The NWDI also installed freshly in the new server.
While upgrading,  following Business Packages versions are recommended by SAP.
    SAP_ESS 603 SP6
    MSS 600 SP17
    PCUI_GP 603 Sp 06
Now in the New portal server every applications works fine as delivered Out of the box and we are missing all the Webdynpro Java customizations which we have made as part of the Ehp3 based ESS Implementation.
We are in the process of Creating the New track in the New NW 7.0 Ehp1 server and import the .SCA files.
My Question is how can we get the automatic migration process, so that the Webdynpro Java Customizations which we have done in the Previous track in Ehp3 with different ESS SP level can be carry forwarded to our New NWDI Server.
How can we go ahead?. We are thinking of the following options and your suggestions are highly appreciated.
    1. Import the .SCA files related to Ehp4 and do the Webdynpro Java changes manually again in the DCs of Newly created  track    in the New NWDI server.
    2. Is there a way to migrate a Track from One Server to another NWDI server with the Custom changes carry forwarded.
What are all the possible ways to achieve track migration to the new server with custom changes carry forwarded.
Appreciate your valuable inputs in this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sekar

    Hi Sekar,
There is a cook book provided by SAP as attachment of note 872892. you can follow the process to have your custom DC's migrated to new Support pack of ESS/MSS.

  • Upgrade a Business package that is customized.

    Hi Gurus,
We have implemented the CPRXRPM_UI and Business Package for Project, Portfolio Management and Design Collaboration (PPMDC) on SAP Netweaver Portal.
We copied some of the iviews and pages that we wanted, into our own custom roles.
Now, is it a good practice to do this? And also, what happens when we upgrade? Does SAP upgrade its iviews and pages assigned to our custom roles too? If yes, is there any naming conventions that we need to follow? If we dont want the custom views to be upgraded, can we change the namespace to our own domain names?
And also since these iviews point to WD applications in CPRXRPM_UI, would  their functionality change depending upon changes to the upgraded code?
    Please advise.
What happens in other business packages upgrades? I did look around, but couldnt get the right 'search' query
    Thanks in advance.
    Anjana

    Hi,
Well, it depends on the method you used to copy the content (iViews, Pages, Roles...). If you copied the content by delta link, your content will be upgraded but if you copied (standard copy) it then it won't.
    EDIT : here's a quote from the documentation :
In both scenarios the advantages of the delta link method become apparent:
If the source object is reimported into the portal at a later time with changes to its contents,
these changes appear automatically in all the derived target objects.

  • Customizing ESS Business Package using Web Dynpro

    Hi
Does anyone know how we can customize the ESS Business Package using web dynpro. I tried opening one of its application but since it doesn't carry any .project file, it cannot be opened in the NWDS for customization.
Also, if there is any document available describing the method to be used for this, can you please pass the link for that or mail at [email protected]
    Thanks & regards,
    Anupreet

    Hi Jithendra,
The note number has been mentioned in the post. Please try accessing that note. Also for information related to NWDI access the home page for NWDI.
I would suggest that you search the forum first and try to find similar threads with similar queries. That will really speed up your process also.
If the SDN search is not to your liking you can also use the google search. That is powerful and you get the exact thing you are looking for instantly.

  • Customizing MSS Business Package

    Hi All,
We have implemented MSS Business Package in the Enterprise Portal 6.0. Now we want to know how to customize the iviews. For example change the look & Feel for an iview.
    Please give your valuable inputs.
    Regards,
    Noufal.

    Noufal,
what do you mean by look and feel? What do you want to change? Do you mean changing the Iviews etc?
I suggest not to go for it as this package and content is provided by SAP and just configure the items necessary for you and leave the rest of them. If you intended to use only few Iviews then create your own role and assign these iviews as delta links in your role  and have your own way of presenting the MSS.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Praveen

  • Best Practice in using Business Packages

    Hi All,
Are there any Best Practices in the use of Business Package content?   Do you assign the Roles delivered by the Business Package and do you make changes to the original iViews?
    or
Do you copy the content delivered in the Business Package to a new folder and work with there?
These questions are purely at the configuration level and not at the Java coding level.   For instance if I want to turn of the iView Tray, or change a parameter such as height, or even remove an iView from a page or Role.
I would like to know the various approaches the SDN community uses and the different challenges and benefits that result in each approach.
Look forward to hearing from you all
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I also build my own roles. The only time I might use the standard roles is for demo purposes early in a project.  You will find that in some cases the business packages like MSS don't always even include standard roles, so you have no choice but to build.
I never change any of the standard iViews/Pages/Worksets - ever.
The most contentious issue seems to be whether to do a full or delta link copy of the standard objects.  I tend to initially do a full copy of the objects into a custom folder set in the PCD and modify those. Then I only use delta links from Page to iViews where I need the option of setting different properties for the same iView if it appears in multiple pages.  Delta links can be a bit flakey at times, so I tend to only use them where I have to.  I suspect that I may get to a point where I don't use them at all.
    Just my 2 cents worth....

  • Best Practice to implement Business Packages

    Hello All,
    Need some clarification -
What is the best practice to implement ESS/MSS Business Package onto Portal -
    (1) Should I just import and configure the content     OR
    (2) Should I import, create a copy and then configure it? If yes, are there any points to be kept in mind?
All blogs/articles that have been published show to configure the standard content.
The requirement is to maintain a different prefix/namespace for each Portal content that comes along the business package?
    Thanks,
    Ritu

  • Available Services in Standard Business Package

    Hi All,
What are all the services(applications) provided by MDM standard Business Package? Are there any links which clearly states the list of services supported.
    Thanks in Advance!!
    Regards,
    Revathi Raju.
Edited by: Revathi Raju on Mar 11, 2009 8:45 AM

    Hi Revathi,
Are you asking about the Standard Business content provided by SAP or the Standard Business package?
    Standard Business Content:
SAP has provided Std Business content with the MDM 5.5 and 7.1 MDM server. These are nothing by predelivered SAP repoitories archives for different masters like Customer,Material,Vendor,Article,Product,Employee etc.All you have to do is unarchive these rep contents on to your MDM server and then you can work with them .
The Services that they provide are:
    - You will get teh entire MDM rep ready to use
    - With this comes the XML Schema,Import and Syndication Maps
    - Remote systems and ports
    - And all such configurations predefined
    - So your data modelling work is almost done and you can work with your master data directly on the repositories.
    To know more on the Business Content please refer the below link;

    https://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=1268212 - Employee
The other thing is the standard Busines Package:
These are the SAP predelivered Content to be used with MDM and other Netweaver components.
    - Like for example you have some predelivered sca files and Business contents to work with portal and MDM
    - SRM -MDM Buisness content to work with MDM and SRM catalog
    - MDM with GDS
    etc
The features provided by these business packages is taht it enables easy to connect and use efficient integration between MDM and the other components.
You can refer the scenario guide to know more on this:
    https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001119482007E
    Hope It Helped
